I like it! And, as I said, Iggy looks like Sam.

    Good morning all.

Gooood morning, everyone! B, we agree, looooks like Sam, Sam, Sam.
Only 2 months until TICVI then we will have something TO READ (notice usage as a verb) during the summer.

    Morning Bee and everyone.
The cover art is very sweet.
Hope Barb can check in early – we are worried about her

Good morning! We are rocking and rolling here today! Staying very very close to Mom’s leg, just in case it starts shaking and we have to help her.
    BRING BACK BEPPE !

We are here, checking in early and we are fine. We got a good rain, but all the hail, high winds and damage occured south of here. We dodged a bullet, however, there are more storms coming this weekend.

Ok, we accept de-feet on the Iggy issue. He does look like Sam on that cover. We still argue that Malteses do not have stubby tails.

Hi Maggie! We were up all night because Mom had to work thru the night. So we watched those storms moving across Illinois and they really really looked scary. So we are happy you are o.k.

OH, Wookie’s family (mostly) but also Rose, Newf pack, OFA, T&G and whoever we forgot. Batten down your hatches, furl your sails and hold on tight, looooks like a blustery, inclement (sp?) day coming your way.

We think it may be Sam’s fault with all the “ark” talk last night.

Are those howls of delight we hear coming from Alaska? Sounds like maybe the Snowbella has landed?

I don’t have a stubby tail. Jacqueline left it alone when she went on her cutting spree. I’ll just wait until my Princess part comes along.

Belle Starr: Here is the strategy for today. Let the Giant make your two-legged swoon with kisses and hugs first. Welcome home your two-legged with kisses. Stick to her like glue. Let her rest after her long flight (maybe she will give you the best tummies ever!!). When she has had enough rest, remind her about the kitty while batting your eyelashes over tears about to drop big brown eyes.

Yeep! My Two-legged arrived home after midnight. She was tired. What did she find when she arrived home? Me, me, me and a package for me, me, me! Thanks to my very special, most best friend Wose, I have a kitty and a moose of my very own. Both my Legged’s say they will have to be kept on a shelf a la SiberH’s husky toys.

    Hi Rose!
I’m here. Mom had to go to the store before she turned on the computer for me this morning.

Love the cover of the e-story…very southwestern.

Belle Starr, It is unfair that we get these wonderful gifts or prizes and then we never seen them again unless we look way up high.

    Good Morning All

  32. Barb & Maggie

Wookie’s Dad and Mom, and Gramps. Stay safe, and stay inside if there is thunder and/or high winds.

Our Cherokee Purple tomato has two little bitty tomatoes on it. Yea! The best looking plant so far is the Black Krim that Barb put in a 5 gal. fake oak barrel planter. She mixed 2 parts top soil, 1 part composted manure, 1 part mushroom compost. She put zucchini in one, peppers in one and a Japanese Black Truffel tomato in the fourth. The plants love the growing medium!

Good luck with Pancho and Lefty, Belle Starr. Good hearted thieves might get your kitty and moose . . but there might be a small disaster getting them to you.

    LOVE THE COVER!

If I remember correctly, Sam does not have jowls that go up and down when she jumps up at the window. I believe Iggy does. Movie stars, though, do not always look like the book character. (Sam, don’t let those film people try to change you one bit. No plastic surgery for you!)

Good to hear that SnowBella has landed, that Barb and MagPie are okay and that Wöökie’s Dad will be doing the ballet in tights.

Macy, never did find your “prickling of the thumbs” reference.

This morning before coco ( which is a difficult concept for me) I was out tenting the tomatoes. Our heavy rain was “supposed” to start around 1 pm. HA!

It started raining at 8 am and hasn’t stopped yet. Total? About 3 inches.

That will make a total of 9 inches in less than two weeks.

I am considering putting buckets of pure rain water on the Boutique.

Rio, that is wonderfully optimistic news. Mom is losing her boss, who she likes, next week. She has no idea who will replace him.
Bellie, you will need to get to those new pets of yours. They will need your loving care.
Wookie, same here: the worst of the storms still to come. Tornado threat!!! Triple-Yeep!
Oh yeah…we here love the cover, but why can’t Iggy just jump out of that open window?

Melanie, Mom might buy a bucket or two of rainwater.

The reason that I put “by the pricking of my thumbs” after “heh heh heh,” was to indicate that the “laugh” sounded like a witch. Didn’t Agatha Christie have a novel titled By The Pricking of my Thumbs?

  68. Tupper and Gilly
    2:42 pm on June 13th, 2013

Bee – awww, we were going to jump on the question of “By the Pricking of My Thumbs” as being an Agatha Christie novel. But we got bet to the punch.
That was actually the first Agatha Mama ever read, and what turned her into a Christie fan.
And I, Tupper, am actually named Tuppence – guess where Mama got THAT name?

Mama is one of those southwest people, so she has been trained to never, ever say the words, “I hate rain.” In traditional ways, such a thing is just not done because rain is a gift. But it’s ok to say one does not like what rain can do, such as cause flash floods, or ruin baby plants. So, with that in mind, having just come in from running errands, Mama is ready to say she really hates being soaked to the skin by cold pelting sheets of rain. And she ain’t too fond of thunder either.

  69. Melanie
    2:44 pm on June 13th, 2013

Did you take a nap in the wheelbarrow? Confused here, Staff.

Why is it that when losing weight and/or exercising, my tummy is always the last thing to show any improvement?

  70. Siber-H

All paws crossed for YSAS, He will feel much better when his teeth are fixed.

Mom is driving me into the big city in the morning to the doggie dentist to have my teeth cleaned. I will not necessarily feel any better afterwards, but I am sure I will be seeing pink moose.

  78. Staff
    3:12 pm on June 13th, 2013

About the tummy thing Melanie. Here is a very scientific answer.

My theory is that the fat migrates downward so first the head loses weight. Usually not so much. Then the neck. Then the shoulders…etc.

For some reason, probably because the fat goes down the body core, the upper arms stay flabby a long long time. Anyway when the fat gets to the tummy, hips and legs there is a logjam effect. It is all trying to get out the door at once and the doors (legs) are smaller so, ummpph, there is a delay at the bottom of the body.

In fact it usually works out that the tummy and the butt are the very last to see any improvement. This is also one of the main causes of kankles. (see Dawson and Rose posts yesterday)

We should have posted this sooner. Remember our best friend Cherokee? His mom is Kat’s godmom and our mom is his godmom…
He has a very big and bad tumor that his mom did not want to get removed because he has very very bad kidney levels and they didn’t think he could survive a surgery.
Well, last Friday, he began bleeding profusely from that tumor ripping open his skin. So the choice was to try surgery or say goodbye. He had surgery today. He made it thru but it is too soon to know the damage to his kidneys. Please please please pray and send positive energy for him.

Well, we dodged a real bullet here. There was an incredibly intense five minutes or so of very high winds and torrential downpour at right about 4:00 pm, and then it moved out. There was a reported tornado siting about 15 miles north of us, not confirmed yet, but likely. The storm is now heading towards Baltimore.

Looks like the Rockies have pulled ahead again. And thanks Rio for the info on Cargo; I can only follow the game on the internet and I saw that Colvin had batted for Cargo in the first inning, but I didn’t understand what had happened. Hopefully he is not hurt badly and will be back in action tomorrow (to play against someone other than the Nationals).

We refuse to go out for certain personal matters unless Mama puts our raincoat on us, and goes with us with an umbrella. Callie simply refuses to go out. We expect her to explode sometime later this evening.
We keep leaving the back door open, hoping Sage will make a dash for it. He would be one conniping Kat. tee hee

Wookie’s Dad, Glad the stroms didnt do a lot of damage to youse guys.

Staff, Were you ever successful with your hunt for a Black Krim? Our garden is looking fantastic, now that Barb put a stop to bunny munching. Beans will be blooming by next week. We love garden beans.

Barb feels bad. There was a beautiful garter snake curled up dead by the base of her garden. Slightly tucked inside the base. Barb pulled him out when he didn’t move. Looks like Josh might have accidently cut him with the weed wacker. Poor snakey.

Melanie: Yikes! Is YSAS okay? Have fun at the “Landfest” celebration. Is that because they own their land?
HOH’s Sharon: Ha! I can see you.
The hockey game went into triple overtime last night and the Blackhawks scored a win over the Boston Bruins. Exciting rock ’em, sock ’em game.
Kankles! I had no idea that was a real thing. Thanks Grampa for giving me kankles! At least I did not get your nose.

First sunny day in ages. I went out for a morning bike ride. When I was halfway around the lake my tire decided to suddenly go flat. Carpola. I had to walk about 2 miles pushing that fat, flat tired bicycle. At first I tried to keep the weight of the bike off the tire but soon gave up. It groaned the whole way home and everyone who past me gawked. I never wear shorts in public but this morning I was and my kankles were showing.

Dawson, it is called “Landfest” because their dog, Papi, is also called, Loma, Land, Belly . . I like your memory, it reminds me of mi . . wait, what was I talking about?

Sharon, we here love squirrels. The Pack for a different reason than my mine.

YSAS is fine. He is eating with his LLL. They are leaving the city tomorrow. Each for a different wedding.

The Pack has hardly moved all day. There is a reason they are den animals. What animal wants to be out in this?

Well, ducks . . but it’s even a bit much for them too.

OOOOOHHHHH, I believe I saw a baby robin’s head peeking out from the nest.

Dawson – we second what Sharon and the Herd said. It never ceases to as astound us how some people show up at shows – the clothing…my stars! We would have to take pictures, because you would never believe the descriptions.
We stand by our mantra – “just because you can get it on, doesn’t mean you should wear it.”
And would someone please explain exactly WHY a clothing manufacturer would actually MAKE a size 52, lime green, metallic, spandex miniskirt?

Rio called me Zippy, which was the name of a dog from one of PA’s books. That dog would always come over and piss on the doorstep of his neighbor. I think the dog got murdered. Hmmm. That’s how I remember it. It was not a compliment.
