The Dog Who Raided Osama’s Lair
“Wonder if we’ll ever find out who he is?” Spence says.
“Or at least see a picture,” Admin says.
“We need to find out more about this.”
“But right now we’re on the road, making it kind of hard.”
“Maybe the Plunderers can help.”
“Here’s hoping.”
Welcome Buddy and Case-Working Dude.

The best I could do about the dog was in the NY Times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/05/science/05dog.html?_r=1
Not real identification yet.

We would love to see a picture of the dog involved. Most likely was a shephered type-maybe one of the Belgian Shepherds, like a Malinois. I know it wasn’t a Pug, or a princess or a Sibe, or even one of my type, although there might have been a rat involved. Too confusing for me, think I’ll go check out some chickens and goats.
10:01 am on May 5th, 2011
Hero!…I bet it was a Pug!…snort!
10:10 am on May 5th, 2011
On what road? Going where? I’ll check out the rescue dog situation but I think Sam’s link is the latest update.
Good morning all.
10:13 am on May 5th, 2011
Here’s a picture of one of the dogs in the Seal program. I’ll do the link to the article next. But I didn’t want to go into never never land.

10:14 am on May 5th, 2011
The article explains the equipment the dog is wearing. Pretty high tech! I know there are pet cameras that can take still photographs (they hang from the collar). I thought about getting one, but I’d get picture of drool, hair and the floor.

Good Morning all!
Traveling? I hope they are all having fun. We’re not traveling today. Hanging out at the house. Maybe I’ll figure out how to use the scanner and copier on the new printer.
YSAS is working today. On one of the L&O’s. Not sure which one. He is an audience member.
Here’s the Eaglet pic of the day! Jeez, they’re HUGE.

10:20 am on May 5th, 2011
And he’s a German Shepherd right? I like him! Perhaps they used a Doberman.
Macy: Sorry. I didn’t realize there are a lot of people with my name of FB.
Melanie: When you get a chance could you give me Macy’s info on her FB account?
10:30 am on May 5th, 2011
L&O!….Does that mean Clarkson is working on the Law and Order set?…snort!
10:34 am on May 5th, 2011
Hey, we just read that great article. See, it probably was a Malinois. I think that is what is in Melanie’s photo. They are very intense, intelligent, brave, high energy dogs. Definitey need a job to do.
Thank you Melanie, for the eagle update. We hope the eagle father in Va. pulls out of his depression and is ok.
10:48 am on May 5th, 2011
Hero!…I still think it was a Pug. He could have worn all that gear too – only miniture…heh!
11:12 am on May 5th, 2011
Basil and Sage: I just saw your message from last night about staying up and playing. Sorry. I had taken an allergy pill and could no longer keep my eyes open. (I’m out of my non-drowsy type.)
11:13 am on May 5th, 2011
Riö: Yes, that’s what L&O means AND I think a pug was the hero!
B.Stover: I sent Macy’s mom an email through facebook. Wanted to make sure I had the correct person. When I find out, I’ll send her your facebook stuff.
Just look at who’s the big dog in a photo sent to my facebook!

Buenois Dias Amigos! Happy Cinco de Mayo!
The O.Howlers will be happy to hear their message about the Hero Dog got through to Chet yesterday.
Barb&Maggie: You have described my breed perfectly! The Belgian Malinois (along with German Shepard Dogs) make great police dogs too. We are definitely working dogs and particularly like Rescue Missions and hunting down perps.
Good Grief! Those eaglets are now the size of the parents!
Melanie, Keeper of the Keys: Nana will send you info on her F/b account. Sounds like your new printer is very similar to ours. We can help each other out. Although I fear we may be mostly on the receiving end.
12:21 pm on May 5th, 2011
Bear, Yes we have seen shows on tv about the police working dogs. Malinois make great police dogs. Believe they have fewer problems with hip dysplasia, so they probably can handle the endurance stuff for a longer period than the GSD.
12:26 pm on May 5th, 2011
Oh, and Happy Birthday to our Ben, who is 5 on 5/5! Don’t they call that a Golden Birthday or something?
And Happy Cinco de Mayo to everyone else!

Thanks Melanie. And I love the picture.
Happy birthday Ben.

Hmmm. Maybe time for another nap.
12:49 pm on May 5th, 2011
No, Ben is not a reader of anything substantial, but his mom, Kelly, is sometimes a lurker, so she may see my b-day greeting.
1:04 pm on May 5th, 2011
Happy 5th Birthday to Ben on the 5th day of the 5th month!
Facebook! We were noticing today that Group accounts can be set up with a link to the email address. Since many of us may be worried about privacy, what if we set up a group account under the name Plunderers and linked it to our Dishlicker account? It can be set to a “privacy” setting that allows only members to view it and to post comments. Maybe members could go through Melanie initially to insure all is legit. This would’t be a duplication of CTD on F/b because it would be a special Facebook account for the Plunderers. Just thinking out loud. What do you guys think?
B. Your blogspot comments yesterday – very apropos.
Hey! B&M and Melanie: What happened to your avatars?
1:14 pm on May 5th, 2011
Bear: I like the idea of a Plunderers FB page. I sent you an email.

Quick hello to everyone. Belgian Malinois Rock! We also like Tervurans, even though we are sure we spelled that wrong. And Mama says someday she’s gonna get one of those Irish Wolfhounds like the one in the mini dog bed. Huh! What does she need a big long legged galoot like that for when she’s got us! WE can sit in laps, and ride in her small car, and hide under tables. Can you imagine a Wolfhound as a service dog? Just try to get that thing under the seat in front of you on an airplane!
Melanie – is your voice activated secret decoder working?
1:50 pm on May 5th, 2011
Yikes!
I’m here with Staff and read yesterday’s blog last night but then was too tired to post. This little netbook is harder on the eyes than a bigger screen.
Love the pictures of those K-9 critters. They are amazing. Would like to see an action picture of the “hero pug”. Heh. Makes me smile to imagine it.
I’ve been a bit under the weather and have been last one up in the morning and first one to bed at night. Then Staff drags me to these sales. We actually paid to get into those 2 yesterday, which really goes against my usual
cheap assfrugal nature.1:59 pm on May 5th, 2011
HI DAWSON!!!!
Good to hear from you.
Boy, we are getting shocked over and over withthis blog. First Bee admits to saying “you guys” to mixed company, now Dawson tells us that she had to PAY to get into a GARAGE SALE???
What is this world coming to??
And where is MollieABP and CHArris?
2:03 pm on May 5th, 2011
Hello Dawson! Sounds like you are going to need a vacation from your vacation – which always happens to me.
Melanie & MollyPop: Love the photos! MollyPop: Now your avatar is missing…
B: Thanks for the info!
2:06 pm on May 5th, 2011
Hurrah! Dawson is back! Hope you feel better.
Going to run errands.

Looks like I misspelled Buenos this morning. (sigh)

Navy!… I could see a Pug doing something like that….snort!….Not me, but some other Pug for sure could do that sort of stuff…sniff!
2:55 pm on May 5th, 2011
Hello to everyone. Chet, thanks so much for posting the info about the Navy Seal dog. We don’t think we could ever find out his identity, as the Seals’ identities are never made public. But we are so happy to know that one of our guys was helping out. Melanie, thanks for posting that pic of the hero, and really love the one with the big dog in the little bed!
Our pop just got home from his ankle surgery. Looks good to us. But we think now we are all going to have to take a nap. TTYL

Howlers: Hope everything is okay.
Bear: I haven’t been having problems with the avatars.
Rio: Did you see how much that Navy Seal equipment costs?

Post Tramatic Stress Disorder = PTSD
Oley Howlers: I hope your dad’s recovery is swift.
I am having trouble hitting the right keys on this netbook because it is so small. Can see why you guys with i-paws have trouble.
We in the mid-west always say “you guys” regardless of gender of those addressed.
More sales, 20 more books entering the house. Sheesh! I will have to read faster. Plus a food dehydrater. Naptime.
4:23 pm on May 5th, 2011
Dawson, awesome!
Hate to say this, but all three of us two legged have some bug. Hopefully, will get back tomorrow.

Rio!
You are so lucky to have such a generous boss. Does this mean you will be ignoring your beer drinking ban and food restrictions for the night?
Staff is taking me to a ball game on the 14th. I will eat a Hebrew National hotdog in honor of Chet and Bernie. The only other time I have had a Hebrew National was at Tupper and Gilly’s party. Oh boy, oh boy.
4:31 pm on May 5th, 2011
Ban!….I’m not going to the game – she is…grunt!… I will be watching from home if I can get her mother to turn the TV onto the right channel for me….groan!… I’m sure someone will eat and drink to her heart content as she will not be driving….lucky!
4:41 pm on May 5th, 2011
Dawson: Thank you. I have a food dehydrater. Pineapple is my favorite. I also dry herbs with it and it works wonderfully.
4:45 pm on May 5th, 2011
Whoo Hoo Rio,
Dawson said she was taking a nap but I hear dishes being washed (not licked) so had better go down and check things out.

Greetings Everyone, and a special hello to Dawson!
The Navy Seals and their dogs really kick butt! And so do all the rest of the nation within the nation.
My eyes are a little blurry. I went to the eye doctor today, and he put those drops in to dilate my pupils, so this is a quick post…I can barely see the computer screen.
5:22 pm on May 5th, 2011
I received an email from CHarris last night. She is planning to visit her father and it sounds as if she is busy with all the preparations. She said thanks for the concern and that she will try and post in the next few days. Glad she is well, busy, but well.
Macy: You’re not a deadbeat in our eyes and we thank you very much for your generosity.
We bought dog food today—one bag instead of the usual ten bags—what a difference.
5:50 pm on May 5th, 2011
Hi Dawson, hope you are having fun.
All youse guys at Melanie’s,feel better soon!
6:13 pm on May 5th, 2011
That is one tough looking Navy Seal dog. Love the gear. Those dogs are the elite of the elite just like the Navy Seal guys. A big thank you to all of them from us.
6:34 pm on May 5th, 2011
WOO WOO Rio’s friend is going to the Rockies game! WOO WOO
They win when she is there.
Rio, face reality, pal, the Navy Seal dog that went on that mission is not a pug or a Siber.
Rebecca, thanks for letting us know that C.Harris is okay.
Dawson, good to have you back with us and, I hope you and Melanie and family feel better soon. It is the season for springtime “bugs” now. ugh
6:39 pm on May 5th, 2011
Gee Rio: Too bad you can’t you get your friend to sneak you into that private box. I remember a very exciting come from behind win for Colorado when your friend went to a game last year. I hope she brings Colorado just as much luck this time, not that they need any luck.
6:44 pm on May 5th, 2011
Echoing Siber-H here – A Big Thank You to all our guys and gals in service – be they 2 legged or four. Dog Bless All!
Rose: Nana has had the same problem here (eye drops) The nurse told her she could drive after one hour, but not so good! It took 4 hours to clear! Scary!
Rio! That is the BEST news for your Friend! Too bad you can’t go to the game too, but I’m sure your friend’s mom will turn on the tv for you. How is it going in the new place? It always takes a
while to settle in.
O.Howlers: Hope the dad is on the mend soon!
Rebecca: Thanks for the update on C.Harris. We are sending our sponsership money for Orion in tomorrow. Will make it a monthly donation so it will add up by November’s deadline.
7:03 pm on May 5th, 2011
Mom has the same problem with the eye drops. A veterinarian who is an eye specialist told mom that light colored eyes, like blue, are more sensitive to the sun and those drops than brown eyes. Mom says she has learned more from vets than people doctors.
Howlers, hope your dad heals quickly…good luck to him.
7:04 pm on May 5th, 2011
The look on the Navy Seal dog’s face reminds me of my main lead dog and the Alpha of the kennel, Fargo; he was all business about leading the team. All the pictures I have of him on the line have the same intense stare. He passed away this last September and I miss him terribly. He was something special.
I bet the Navy Seals would have sought the services of the Plunderers for this secret mission if the Navy Seal dogs needed back up (and if the Plunderers hadn’t been at the royal wedding).
BSD: thanks in advance for the sponsorship of Orion. We are hoping to enter the race the first day possible on June 25th. If you enter on that date (fee paid) your name goes into a drawing and you have the chance to win your entrance fee back.
Thanks to all the Plunderers for your support and sponsorship!
7:14 pm on May 5th, 2011
Rebecca, Can you post your mailing address again. Rio will kill me for asking.
We sent a donation last month, but want to do another one this month for Orion.
We will be back, have to go check the goat. Think she is getting close to delivery. The other two are so cute. They are 10 days old, and now they hop and skip and boing around the pasture. It is beyond adorable!
7:18 pm on May 5th, 2011
B&M: You can get Rebecca’s mailing address on the snowhookkennel.com site.
7:20 pm on May 5th, 2011
B&M: It’s snowhookkennel.blogspot.com
7:23 pm on May 5th, 2011
Barb & Maggie: No worries at all—I’ll distract Rio with a baseball toy, beer and ribs if he gets upset. Thank you in advance as well.
Sponsorships can be sent to:
P.O. Box 1179
Willow, AK 99688
The address is also on our blog. I do have a request for those of you who are sending sponsorships—can you make the check out to Justin and Rebecca Savidis rather than Snowhook Kennel? We don’t have a checking account under the kennel.
BTW: Whitey-Lance and I put our heads together on how we might thank the Plunderers…but, you’ll have to be patient (after all, only one of us has those fancy kind of thumbs instead of dew claws…)

Bed now!
7:33 pm on May 5th, 2011
Hey, y’all! Mom got home a little while ago, but she says I have to be quick because she says she’s going to cover some more books tonight. I told her I’d help, but she just muttered something about too dang much black dog hair getting caught under the laminate. I’m sure she must be talking about Addison and Maggie, since they both have black hair — I’m sure I wouldn’t be so uncouth as to shed hair around the house!
Mom didn’t get to join in yesterday’s discussion about y’all, youse and other forms of address — those book covers again! — but she wanted you to know that tonight on the way home from work, she followed someone who had a personalized license plate: HI YALL. Now she’s thinking maybe she should apply for HEY YALL!
7:40 pm on May 5th, 2011
Kirby: We’ve learned to accessorize with the multiple colors of dog fur—they key is to wear multi-colored clothes and then stop caring. I’m sure a similar approach might work for laminting the books, especially the second half of the Snowhook method.
7:46 pm on May 5th, 2011
Melanie: Bed for Bear too!
Night Y’ALL . See youse Manana.
7:49 pm on May 5th, 2011
Rebecca: Sorry, but Mom’s kind of persnickety that way. She doesn’t care if there’s dog hair all over the house, but let some get on her precious books and she goes ballistic!
7:49 pm on May 5th, 2011
Oh, I almost forgot! My boy showed us a pretty good video last night. It makes my mouth water just to think about it — but I’m afraid it doesn’t have a happy ending for our kind!

Ve think ve understand some of your code now. So ve vill speak in code:
Youse are silly two leggeds. Secret to living vith dog hair is to dress in same color as doggie.
Ve think everyvon at Melanie’s vears all black.
IF Natasha ever needed 2 legged person to depend on, ve vould INSIST that they dress like this most beautiful and elegant coat. Natasha vould not deem proper to vaste her regretfully shed hair on anyvon vearing (shudder) colors!
8:23 pm on May 5th, 2011
Talk about animal cruelty. That guy should be reported. Now I am hungry all over again. There was steak at my house tonight, and my taste buds do not recall ANY of it making its way over them. What is the number for the animal rights people. I am not very good with telephone books. Do you suppose that I could dial 911 and just whimper in a distressed manner? It would serve THEM right for not sharing. hmph
8:31 pm on May 5th, 2011
I think that is a far more important reason to call 911 than the people that call 911 because McDonalds got their order wrong.
9:01 pm on May 5th, 2011
Macy: While you’re reporting the injustice you’ve experienced could you also report on Luna’s dog, Belle Starr’s behalf as well? She’s had to sleep on the second nicest dog pillow last night…somehow, but I’m not sure how, it’s my fault…
9:20 pm on May 5th, 2011
Snowhook Bella: I have two black cats and one white cat. Whatever color I choose to wear, the wrong colored cat rubs me. 😉
C.Harris: I am glad you get to spend some time with your dad. Hope all goes well.
Melanie: Oh no. All 2 leggeds sick at the same time? Please get better soon.
9:25 pm on May 5th, 2011
Kirby T Penworthy: That video was funny! I bet all the cats will like it too.
9:28 pm on May 5th, 2011
Dawson: long time, no blog…with 40+ dogs it’s hard to wear a color that matches each dog, just as with your cats—this is where the not caring comes into play.
9:36 pm on May 5th, 2011
Snowhook Bella: With 40+ dogs and Alaskan winters, I would look at a little dog hair on me as extra insulation.
10:03 pm on May 5th, 2011
Good evening, y’all y’all. I’m glad to hear that CHarris is okay, that Rio’s friend was given some fabulous tickets, and that one of the Nation was responsible for taking out the worst bad guy ever.
Rebecca, please keep us posted on the fee account. We have planned on sending something monthly but we can pick it up a bit if the deadline is looming and you haven’t quite reached the goal. As part of the Snowhook team, by golly, I want you to win the fee back!
10:32 pm on May 5th, 2011
Dawson: Canada, right? You’re probably familiar with three dog (or cat) nights. We consistently have three dogs nights in the winter and the ocassional five dog night in our neck of the woods. I call the nights where we wear our winter hats to bed to help stay warm “Little House on the Prarie” nights.
Mr. Vigglebutt: We should be so lucky to win the entrance fee back—paws crossed.
10:34 pm on May 5th, 2011
Hi again everyone. Dawson, its nice to see your name up here again.
Rio! Good for your friend getting to see a Rockies game. We still don’t get the whole baseball thing, but we do understand the part about eating hotdogs and popcorn and all that. Maybe she will bring you a nice treat bag from the ballpark.
Natasha – Mama says that wearing appropriate colored clothing may work for some, like Melanie and Wookie’s people. MollyPop, Rio, Jasper…all of them would shed one color – if they do shed. But Mama says that having tri-color Corgis makes life difficult. If she is wearing black pants, a tan jacket and a cream sweater, we make sure that she is decorated with white fur on the pants, black fur on the jacket and brown fur on the sweater. We just want to make sure that EVERYONE knows that she has poor little, abandoned, uncuddled Corgis at home. tee hee.
(whispering – Macy, we had a phone once that had 911 on speed dial. Then one day Basil and Sage were carousing and knocked the phone off the hook and hit that button. Mama didn’t even know it had happened until 3 police cars pulled up outside, blue lights spinning. Seems that if they get a 911 call and don’t hear anything verbal, they show up like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. Mama got rid of that phone that night – boy was she ever embarrased)
10:38 pm on May 5th, 2011
OK, I saw others were making an Orion donation and I had to make one too.
I am going up to the farm tomorrow and leaving Dawson here alone with the cats and the parents. Hope she remembers to clean the litter in the morning. Especially since I didn’t tell her yet that she got to do that.
Oh and feed them every evening.
Oops…..
10:42 pm on May 5th, 2011
I just told Dawson. She looked at me with her pink eye and said allright. Has she told you she has conjunctivitis. Or something that sounds sort of like that? Well, now you know…
Heh heh heh
10:53 pm on May 5th, 2011
I’ve had conjunctivitis (I’m using Staff’s spelling). Dawson get some meds from your vet and it should clear up without any problems. I think it must bother humans more than it bothered me. Get well, young lady.
