Good morning, everyone! Dog bless us, everyone! (to paraphrase someone famous) Saturday, yeah! December 20, wow! Santa Paws is coming soon.
Have a swinging Saturday, all 🙂
9:13 am on December 20th, 2014
We remember that wonderful gift! It was given to OFA by a very special Plunderer.
Good morning, HOH and everyone.
Off for an early am wonderfluffing appointment very soon.

Good morning! Happy Saturday! Happy First Day of Christmas Vacation!
Spence, that was certainly a wonderful present. If you ever make it to our neck of the woods, we doubt we could compete with that Plunderer.
9:19 am on December 20th, 2014
Good morning everyone. We are heading out too for a quick trip to the store.
We love those blocks. Someone we know has very good taste. Just look at her mantel!
9:25 am on December 20th, 2014
Here are the youngest HOH with the “bone of contention”.

9:52 am on December 20th, 2014
Good morning all.
11:30 am on December 20th, 2014
Hi everyone. We are heading off to surrogate daughter’s house. It is her youngest one’s first birthday.
Oh joy. A houseful of little kids on a sugar high.
Have we mentioned that we really love our surrogate daughter?

Y’all must to subject yourselves to such fun! Enjoy and be safe…take some Airborne. (You never know what rug rats carry around.)
11:43 am on December 20th, 2014
We have been taking airborne for a week – just thinking about it.
12:56 pm on December 20th, 2014
I am heading over to Josh and Jess’s in an hour. Jack is feeling better, so hopefully I will not pick up any nasty germs. Jess’s dad has the flu so he will not be attending. Probably a good thing. Jess is making a turkey and a 12 lb. prime rib. I hardly ever get prime rib, so I am planning to pig out! I am bringing home the turkey carcass to make soup. And I will be sure to remember my two little friends who will be waiting at home. Do you think it would be safe to give them a rib bone, or do they splinter?
1:00 pm on December 20th, 2014
Beautiful blocks.
Tupper’s Mama: Stay safe amid all those rug rats.
All this talk of cookies may make me break down and bake some. I’m looking forward to hearing about Rio’s friends unusually named cookies.
HOH: I can just see that bone underneath Darah.
I’m watching Ice Pilots NWT.
1:35 pm on December 20th, 2014
I am cooking up my last butternut squash in order to make pumpkin ginger nut bread for my birthday. Maybe I will even make a lemon glaze for it. But the Turtleman is here and wants to play cards. And here is his wife so we are ready to go.

HOH: great photo
Sadie needs your help. She evidently strained her back leg somehow. For the first time last night she couldn’t jump up on the bed. I made her a bed on the floor but this morning she isn’t doing well. She wags her tail but doesn’t like to move. After 25 minutes she did follow me into the kitchen and ate. I went downstairs to feed the kittens and Sadie tried to follow me. She cried and laid down on the landing where she is stuck–neither going up or down.
What should I do? Give it more time or try to take her to the emergency vet? She is too heavy for me to carry plus it will hurt her but that means she needs to get down the stairs and into the car by herself which she might not be able to do.
1:49 pm on December 20th, 2014
CHobbit, call the emergency vet and ask them what to do. When Molly had her back spasms the vet gave her an anti inflammatory until she healed.
1:51 pm on December 20th, 2014
Sometimes it was a shot and sometimes it was a pill. If a pill would do the trick like maybe even an aspirin or an Aleve, you might be able to give it to her right there on the landing and when she feels better she could get into the car.
2:06 pm on December 20th, 2014
Hopefully it is something that will heal. Kelly has had 2 Newfs that tore their ACLs and it required surgery to fix both times.
Doesn’t benadryl act as an anti-inflammatory? I believe they get one 25mg pill for each 25 lbs of body weight. It is inexpensive and you can get it at any drugstore. Might help for a temporary measure until you can get her to a vet.
2:14 pm on December 20th, 2014
Oh no!
I am sending healing thoughts for poor Sadie stuck in the middle of the stairs.
2:16 pm on December 20th, 2014
Bear, Masquers and Barb: Thank you for the beautiful card. I love the chickadees.
All three episodes of Ascension are back On Demand.
2:20 pm on December 20th, 2014
Hobbit, talk to ER V E T. Ask and do not let Sadie convince you she is o.k. until you ask a dog dr. Our 4 legged friends mask “owies”.
2:30 pm on December 20th, 2014
Hobbit, Do you have someone who could help you get her to the car? A big towel under her belly can be used like a sling, with one person on each side.
2:31 pm on December 20th, 2014
Hobbit, Buddy used to get bad back spasms, and he would get shots (cortizone?) at the vet, which made him good as new. Of course, he was easy to get to the vet. We are sending positive vibes to Sadie, but somehow we know it is those damn cats’ fault!
Heh heh!
2:32 pm on December 20th, 2014
Off to the afternoon party. They may have to roll me home!
Staff, Is today your birthday? If so, Happy Birthday to you! Live it up and enjoy that bread with or without the lemon glaze.
2:34 pm on December 20th, 2014
Also, Mom has a Help ‘Em Up Harness that lets her pick one of us up if necessary. They used that for Dima when he was bleeding out and unable to stand. We know that doesn’t help you now, but it is something to think about for future.
2:39 pm on December 20th, 2014
Tonight is the annual Christmas in the Valley event here in Oley. For the first time ever, Mom is thinking of taking me me me, since she is such a bad singer, and I am so good. Thousands of people gather in one of three corners of the village, and carry lighted candles, accompanied by musicians. Then everyone meets in front of the Inn, where the orchestra plays on the big porch, and everyone sings carols. I hear that Santa even arrives at the end.
Afterwards, there are parties everywhere. I don’t think I am invited to any of those, so I guess I will be dumped at home with the kids.
2:41 pm on December 20th, 2014
Folks here have done the sling thing with the wolf, border collie and Pookie before she lost the leg. Not easy but good for the crritter.
Staff, mom says to say the salads you planned sounded great but she was under the quilt and didn’t say 🙁 Enjoy the par tay!
Staff, if this is your b-day, enjoy, if not, ignore and let us know WHEN so we can put it on the calendar.
2:42 pm on December 20th, 2014
Meashka, you are a lady, enjoy!
2:46 pm on December 20th, 2014
Thank you all. I put on my coat and Sadie slowly walked down the stairs. I took her on the briefest of walks so she could go to the bathroom. She walked just fine on flat ground (and wagged her tail) and I noticed no leg problems. So now I am thinking it is her back. She only has problems on steps–she is now in her bed in the garage (her choice). I am going to call the vet.
2:56 pm on December 20th, 2014
Sadie!….Oh no!…sniffle!…Sounds like she needs some of Beau’s Rimadyl for the pain….wuffle!
2:56 pm on December 20th, 2014
Life, as always, has been interesting and eventful, and as a result, mom is just now making the toffee. It will be shipped out either Monday or Tuesday. My addresses are on my work computer, so if youse could send your address to me at aller@sti.net. This offer is open to everyone; it is our gift to our wonderful blog friends.

Sadie Bear! Sending Positive Thoughts for a Fast Healing and Hoping you will be feeling Tip-Top in no time.
3:17 pm on December 20th, 2014
Hobbit – prayers for Sadie – if she is walking, but having trouble with stairs, it is more likely to be her knee rather than her back.
Corgis have knee problems; when we do, Mama has to carry us up and down the stairs, but other than that, we do just fine. And usually a few days of no stairs, and lots of massages, we are just fine.
3:17 pm on December 20th, 2014
I hope Sadie is okay.
3:18 pm on December 20th, 2014
Whew!
The party is over – thank dawg. It went just about as expected.
12 hyper kiddies
11 birthday presents
10 chairs for 20 people
9 types of cookies
8 paper plate spills
7 gossiping cousins
6 toddlers’ mothers
5 pots of bland kid appropriate food
4 screaming meltdowns
3 corner time-outs
2 bickering grandmas
And a baffled Storyteller and me.
3:37 pm on December 20th, 2014

3:45 pm on December 20th, 2014

4:14 pm on December 20th, 2014
I’m going to watch all three episodes in a little while.
4:31 pm on December 20th, 2014
Sadie has a vet appt on Monday morning. I also called a daughter of a friend who has worked as a vet tech. She advised coated aspirin as an anti-inflmatory and gave me the dosage for her weight. I just fed Sadie a small bowl of chopped chicken with the aspirin wrapped in one of the pieces. I will check on her again in a couple of hours.
Two of my kittens have eye problems. The mom has weepy eyes and I have been putting a powdered medicine on their food which was to help control the situation. This morning one of the kitten’s eyes was closed shut so I am about to drive to Eagle River and pick up some ointment for treatment. I was able to open the eye with a warm cotton pad.
I still have the hissing mama recovering from surgery. The other mama is doing fine.
This day is going to bring out the mom in me for sure.
4:32 pm on December 20th, 2014
YEEEEEEEP!….A true Syfy Experience….snort!…We are still watching the finale….YEEEEEEP!
4:34 pm on December 20th, 2014
CHobbit!….Someone here is glad she is not in your hobbit sho-es…snort!…She does not like it one bit when Me or Beau is feeling poorly. It stresses her out beyond her max…sniff!
4:43 pm on December 20th, 2014
Hobbit–
All my dogs have always been liftable, so I defer to all others as regards advice about Sadie. I WILL remember her in my pawrayers and during meditation however.
Everyone–While we’re waiting for the next Chet and Bernie, may I recommend a couple of volumes from Jasper Fforde’s Thursday Next series? I’ve just revisited a couple of them during long drives and still find them quite compelling (and should be a delight for anyone who likes puns or remembers literature classes). If you’re already familiar, I needn’t say more, but if you aren’t, I recommend starting with #4 “Something Rotten” which effectively introduces you to the world of Spec Ops and Jurisfiction.
OK, commercial over. In two days we start getting a little more daylight each day! YAY!
4:45 pm on December 20th, 2014
…which sadly will not be experienced by Mandy Rice-Davies (one of my childhood icons). We lost her to cancer…
4:54 pm on December 20th, 2014
Whew!…Okay, we stopped Ascention and I will be ascending the stairs to watch someone make more cookies….YES! … We needed a break from the intense-ness of the show…chuffle!
5:51 pm on December 20th, 2014
I watched the first episode of Ascension and like it. I’ll have to wait to watch the rest. It’s set in the 1960s right? Interesting.
5:57 pm on December 20th, 2014
It doesn’t take one hundred years to get to Mars–only twenty I think. But in the 60s they probably thought it did.
6:06 pm on December 20th, 2014
Bee – got a weird message from you on fb – but I don’t think it was from you…..was it?
6:13 pm on December 20th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama, remember, facebookie is soooooooooooooo
personal!
6:22 pm on December 20th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: I didn’t sent you a message on Facebook. I guess I have to change my password.
6:25 pm on December 20th, 2014
Uh oh
6:29 pm on December 20th, 2014
I wonder how people can hack into accounts. Irritating.
6:46 pm on December 20th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: You may want to change your FB password also because it could be your account that was hacked.
7:18 pm on December 20th, 2014
Dozens!….Well about 5 dozen cookies are made and cooling…chuffle!…Boy oh boy does it smell good in here. Now we are going to watch the end of Ascension….yeeeep!
7:20 pm on December 20th, 2014
Blocks!….I just love those ChetTheDog blocks!…snort!
7:24 pm on December 20th, 2014
I have heard Facebook is supposed to be easy to hack into. Don’t keep personal info there. The hackers are looking for any personal info about you and also who your friends are and their info. They also hope your FB password can be used on your other accounts
7:26 pm on December 20th, 2014
Wose, TNT is showing, “The Wizard of Oz” at 7:45 tonight, Hope you see this.
7:43 pm on December 20th, 2014
Thanks Bee – we have reset the password. And no, we don’t store anything personal on the fb, nor do we use a shared password.
most of the time we don’t even remember it and have to reset it anyway if we are logged out.
Rio – pass a cookie over this way, will ya?
7:48 pm on December 20th, 2014
Thank you Mollypop’s Mom. I don’t keep personal info on FB and I’ve changed the password. I don’t use the same password for any account.
7:50 pm on December 20th, 2014
B, hacking has become so easy a small child could do it. They send emails or messages that people can’t resist opening. Then the malicious code is installed and it’s a done deal. That’s what happens with all these companies including Sony. Hacking into these companies through their corporate software is very difficult. But it’s a cinch to do it through the company’s employees email.
7:53 pm on December 20th, 2014
MPM – so, if we changed our password, do you think we are covered. I also unfriended the version of Bee that sent the weird message.
7:55 pm on December 20th, 2014
Cookies and cocoa and Oz, oh my! We have mom traped, er, safe on the bed. She is excited because she never saw Oz in color until 1983 when she got her first color TV. Oz still amazes her 🙂
8:02 pm on December 20th, 2014
YEEEEP!….This show gets better and better by the minute….gasp!shudder!
8:03 pm on December 20th, 2014
Bear!….Sit yer butt down and start watching it (Ascension) right now….snort!
8:04 pm on December 20th, 2014
Cookies!….If the damned postage wasn’t so high my friend would send out more cookies, but golly that has been a very large expense this season…sniff!
8:04 pm on December 20th, 2014
Royal Mum, if you have changed your password to something unique, you are fine. Make sure FB has no personal info of yours. No birthdays! The hackers can still get to you through your friends but they won’t get anything.
8:06 pm on December 20th, 2014
Syfy!….Looks like they have made a version of Twelve Monkeys….Zow!…That is one of my favorite movies. I’m feeling a tad hyper-active….wheeze!
8:06 pm on December 20th, 2014
Facebookie!….spit!
8:27 pm on December 20th, 2014
Surely we didn’t hear Rio sat he was a bit hyperactive?
8:31 pm on December 20th, 2014
So now about credit cards – a few days ago I had a $1.38 charge on a card I hadn’t used in a year. Chase caught it right away although I would have caught it the next day. The small charge is to see if the card is good. If that goes through, the next charges will be big. The card was instantly canceled so I was not able to look back a year to see where it had been used last.
8:32 pm on December 20th, 2014
I believe Rio may have had one or two too many cookies. We know he is an excellent beggar when cookies are involved.
I am off to take a ride on a bus and look at Christmas lights around town.
8:36 pm on December 20th, 2014
Christmas lights! How fun!
9:13 pm on December 20th, 2014
Bus!…My friend has always wanted to ride around on a bus and see Christmas Lights this time of year…sniff!…I do not find this idea to be any fun at all…grunt!
9:23 pm on December 20th, 2014
We love lights! Pretty, twinkley, colored!
9:26 pm on December 20th, 2014
I remember Mandy. I didn’t know she passed away.
Had a nice time at the party and ate way too much.
T & G, I assume we sing that to The Twelve Day of Christmas?
Hope Sadie is better tomorrow.
9:40 pm on December 20th, 2014
I am glad I read the blog before I read my emails, because I too had a friend request from Bee. I would have clicked to confirm it because it looks real. So if I had done that, would my computer have a virus?
10:01 pm on December 20th, 2014
My mom is not very smart. She had just read the blog, then checked her emails, saw a friend request from B and automatically confirmed it. Have now cancelled the friend confirm. Hope it’s not too late.
10:04 pm on December 20th, 2014
Oh, Boobear! We are laughing over your mom’s reaction to the friend request.
10:06 pm on December 20th, 2014
OK, we are not super bright when it comes to hacking, but what is the purpose of this hack? What is the hacker hoping to get from all these new friends? MPM or Rio, you could probably enlighten us.
10:49 pm on December 20th, 2014
2nd tin of dark roca gone. Opening the 3rd and last. Uh oh.
B and I are already friends on FB. I did not get a weird friend request from her and while relieved, I am thinking “why not me?”
Took Sadie for a longish walk and she did fine. A couple of whimpers when she squatted down or up but otherwise walking fine and wagging her tail. She is still in the garage so is lonely but can’t do steps. I did give her a 2nd aspirin so I hope she is better with more time.
oodles of noodles
Off to spend time with her….
11:58 pm on December 20th, 2014
Amadeus!…snort!…It is a long movie by golly…yawn!…Regarding the reason for hacking ones facebookie account was explained in simple English by MollyPops Maw earlier….grunt!…Read every word and you shall be enlightened….sniff!
12:00 am on December 21st, 2014
Friends!…MY friend never becomes friends with anyone on facebookie anymore, so if you are knocking at our door you will not be welcomed no matter who you are…grunt!
12:08 am on December 21st, 2014
We just got caught up on the blog. Guess we will now unfriend the new Bee who isn’t Bee. Sigh. We even answered her strange message asking how Mom is, by saying, weren’t we already friends.
12:12 am on December 21st, 2014
Meashka! Heh heh heh. CHobbit. I say Why not me also. Thank Dog. We are keeping Sadie in our thoughts here in Minnesota. Tuck her under the quilt.
I haven’t had any of the butternut, ginger, walnut bread yet. But it has been an effort to not eat it.
I am saving it until that special day, Tuesday.
Unless I cave.

12:18 am on December 21st, 2014
Who wouldn’t love a guy who set fire to his own slippers, just for the sake of entertainment, I ask you.
Mo’s fb only has one friend name d the same as Bee. So what happened to the bogus Bee? I dropped Bee, so we will have to reconnect later. G’night.

GOOGLE Doodle celebrates the first day of winter.
Howlers: I am glad you tried the Italian bachelor recipe for the Brussels Sprouts. Sounds like you mom kicked it up a notch too.
HOH: Turner Classics is sponsoring a showing of “The Wizard of Oz” in theatres for two dates in January. Guess who Grizz will be taking to see it?
