Good morning, everyone and welcome new good lookin’ friends.
Another Monday so soon, doesn’t seem possible. Glad A&L survives the really big shew and now get some well earned, much needed rest (not to mention some quality time with Corgis and Kats).
    Have a magical Monday.

Good morning all. Howlers, you probably don’t want to click on that link. Happy ending for some dogs, but a horrific ending for others. Barb is glad she doesn’t use boarding kennels.

Hot and muggy here. May have to do our outside stuff early. Going to be over 90 today, with heat index of 100 or more.

A & L, pack up and then go home and put your feet up for a while.

But, Look! There’s Belle-Starr up top with Sparkles and a Fierce Looking Kat.
Yes, a Magical Monday it will be (just as soon as we can get that story out of our heads)
B is seeing the positive side and that’s what Chet would do.

    Greetings!

It is a very nice Monday here in Westchester!

HRH, B: if you have free moment, check out the GOOGLE Doodle.

Royals: Glad that your exhibition week is now done, and you can return to the comfort of your home. Hope big bucks were raked in!

Not much to say for now, since I spent my night last in conversation. Can’t remember who I was talking to, but I must have given an oration. My throat is very sore.

Good morning everyone. For anyone who is interested, please check out the email that I sent to Dishlickers, which has a number of photos of the next litter of Teddy’s siblings. The photos were taken by a professional photographer in an email sent out by the breeder to the prospective adopting families and Teddy was copied as well, but for that reason I did not feel that I had authorization to post them on the blog. In any event, they are quite adorable and show the puppies at about 3 weeks old.

We are also celebrating hatch chili month here in Chevy Chase. In the past, they have been very hard to come by here, but this year our local Safeway got in a major shipment and Debbie has roasted about 10 pounds of them, which will last at least for a while.

Also, did anyone catch the news report about two pugs sighted in Denver selling copies of POA on a street corner? Very interesting story.

Good morning! Our 2-day vacay is over, but we hear there is a 3-day vaca coming up soon! What a life!
B&M, we will follow hour advice and not click on that there link. We don’t go to boarding kennels either; our 2-legged boarders come to us us us!
Bee, Did you watch that new show, Intruders? We did, but we have no idea what is going on.
We are hoping that Faye’s husband is at peace.

Rose: Yes, I like the Google Doodle. Thank you.

Howlers: I turned off “Intruders” after the first five minutes. (I don’t have much patience when it comes to tv shows and that was just after I had spent over an hour watching a ridiculous Doctor Who episode.)

Rio: Is the PBS program that you’re referring to called “Secrets of the Tower of London”? I’ll try watching it today.

Wose, We haven’t looked at Teddy’s dad’s posting yet, but he mentioned that the pups were 3 weeks old. Teddy would have stayed with his mama and litter mates until somewhere between 8-10 weeks.

Walkies are done, some grass cut and storms are coming. We will not be spending much time outdoors. Time for some errands. BBL

  12. Wookie's and Teddy's Dad
    11:13 am on August 25th, 2014

Wose — B&M is correct, we got Teddy at about 8-9 weeks, so he was at least a smidgen bigger. For this breeder, the prospective parents come out to first meet the pups at about five to six weeks for an introductory play date, and then come back two weeks later for selection (you identify your top three choices, denominated by collar color — Teddy was Mr. Brown for us), and the breeder then matches everything up and makes the final decision (based on your desires and her sense of which puppy would be best for you). That takes a couple of days, and once that has happened, you are free to pick up your puppy anytime thereafter. We were actually lucky, because we had our original interview with the breeder at about 5 weeks, so we actually had our very own private play date with the puppies one week before the official play date.

Not clicking on the link, but glad to hear there is some happy parts to the story.

The van is all packed and after we grab some lunch we will be on our way home to the very much missed Royals and Wrottens. All in all it was a good show. Interesting thing is that all the exhibitors seemed to have the same experience with extremely rude customers yesterday – not at all typical for this show.

And when we arrived this morning to pack, we had a friend waiting in our booth. She spent the next hour riding on one of our shoulders as we went back and forth to the van. When we were done, we thanked her for her company, and she flew off.

    Truly thought provoking.

Teddy’s Dad, It was a much improved crop of Hatch green chili this year over the past few years. I am glad you were able to take advantage of it. All the grocery stores are roasting them now in their parking lots. It is the smell of the end of summer in NM.

I mostly agree about boarding kennels, but I must tell you of a lovely one near Vancouver, WA. It is called Suzie’s Country Inn for Dogs and Cats. We have had to leave our Schnauzers there a few times just overnight to attend memorial services in Seattle. Plus we went on one 8 day winter trip to Yellowstone and our dogs were delighted with their accommodations! They had a little room called The Cowboy Room which was appropriately decorated. They had a dog size sofa in addition to their own beds we brought. They watched Animal Planet on their the flat screen TV in their room and had a door to their private patio! In addition they were taken to a wonderful and safe play yard 6 times a day with dogs of their own size. It is a great place where they got lots of attention. However, when we were not lodging in the interior of Yellowstone, we stayed in a Super 8 in Gardner, Montana. Suzi’s Country Inn was more per night that the Super 8 winter rate! That is OK though, and it is good to have a wonderful option for our dogs. Just a good story to balance the deck here!

The place you describe is more like a Doggy Vacation Condo.
This has always been Nana’s way of thinking also…Cost be damned if we are happy and well taken care of.

    Gardening 101: labeling your seedlings.
I had started some forget-me-nots this spring and never got around to planting them in the ground until just before leaving on vacation a month ago. I put some in back of the garage, some along the fence on the shadier side of the house, and just put the rest in a mound in the garden. When I returned and got around to weeding said forget-me-nots, I could smell tomato plants. What!? You can guess the end of the story. Yes, they were/are tomatoes. Doomed to never even getting any green tomatoes.

Peg and Helen just returned from their appointment at the chicken doc. Both are doing much better, and Mom and Pop took bows for their excellent care. The doc said that they could have injured their little feet on almost anything in their yard, like a stick. More than likely, it was one of the ancient pieces of glass they manage to dig up from time to time. The worst thing is that we can’t eat their eggs for 30 whole days!
Barb, we did take all of their shavings out of their coop, and replaced them with sand. Mom says she likes that better. It is so easy to clean.

  59. Barb & Maggie
    8:32 pm on August 25th, 2014

Howlers, the sand is probably a good idea, just for the cleaning reasons, but I am betting the glass was more likely the culprit for cutting their feet.

I think this was a rerun of last year’s Emmy’s when Breaking Bad won everything.

We too are tickled blue that BB won so much tonight, and Bryan C was a hoot all evening, and mom thinks he was just a tad s*xy, too! Nice ‘stache, BC.

Sleep well all. Do moths sleep?

We had a random act of moose today. We were here minding our own business when a big ol’ moose rig came thundering up the driveway. The driver was a hunter that got a moose early this morning and wanted to know would we like the scraps? With the urging of all of us, our lady accepted the offer. She cleared some space in the kennel for the rib cage. As she neared the back of the moose rig to accept the offering she saw the hoose mead. It was staring right at her. Did her stomach lurch? Youse tell us. As our Lady closed the lid of the freezer she thanked the Creator for the moose and asked to bless and keep the moose’s spirit.

I will take my moose scraps medium rare, with some potatoes and carrots if it is not too much trouble. Otherwise, just toss me a rib. Thanks.

O my how embarrassing. I just re-read the thieves post and noticed that there was no invitation to a moosefeast involved mentioned. Nevermind, my bad.

Miss Macy: You are always welcome at our dog dish. No need to be embarrassed.
