Very good review. Now, Spencer, can you please come to Philly? Pretty please???
8:15 am on September 12th, 2014
Good morning, OH and everyone! Lookey, lookey. OFA in the company of non-fiction and researched books. Yep, we always knew her was TM.
Have a frolicing Friday.
8:16 am on September 12th, 2014
OOPS, make that HE not her…our bad 🙁
8:16 am on September 12th, 2014
Nice article, and a a good review for Spence. Not to be overly picky (who me? Never), but did anyone notice that German Shepherd is misspelled in the last review?
Good morning Howlers. How are your feathered friends doing?
8:24 am on September 12th, 2014
Barb, we had not noticed.
And, Barb, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU !!!!!
8:25 am on September 12th, 2014
Barb, we are all doing quite well. Mom grexes about not being able to eat Peg’s and Helen’s eggs yet, but soon…very very soon.
In the meantime, they are all over their bumble foot issues.
8:33 am on September 12th, 2014
Happy Birthday Barb!!!
Kudos to Mr. Spence!!!
Nice save, HOH!!!
Fern–“Grexes”?
The day is beginning well, I see. Off to catch my train, but BBL. Have a wonderful day, everyone.
8:46 am on September 12th, 2014
Fern, is that grouses? And thank you for the Happy Birthday wishes.
Went out to lunch yesterday, today meeting up with Kelly for coffee, and lunch with friends. And then B D dinner at Kelly’s on Sunday with all three kids attending. Really living it up this year!
8:46 am on September 12th, 2014
Happy Birthday, Barb!
Now I’ll read the review.
8:52 am on September 12th, 2014
LOL! We speak Dutchy around here. For you non-PA Dutch-types, you will see in this link that our language has actually entered the Enlish dictionary!

Barb (this is in harmony, of course),
Whoo hoo, yodel, howl.
Whoo hoo, yodel, howl.
Whoo hoo, Barb.
Whoo hoo, yodel. howl.
9:14 am on September 12th, 2014
T&G: hope your mama is following, directions and taking her meds.
Rio, Masquers and CHobbit, Wowser! WE got a post card. Now we know what the hoopla was. Thanks 🙂 Must have come by mule train and one corner looks like Rio and Masquers played tug-of-war with it 🙂
9:19 am on September 12th, 2014
Nice review.
I learned a new word–grex. I like it.
Happy Birthday Barb!
Good morning all.
9:27 am on September 12th, 2014
Whew! I am so relieved, Bee. The Howlers were telling me you were going to be angry with me me me.
Now, will someone please stop Cleida from her all-morning grexing?
9:31 am on September 12th, 2014
Greetings!
Barb, May you have the happiest of birthdays. Enjoy!
And yes, I caught that misspelling as well. I know a pretty good editor and proofreader looking for work…
Head shrinking day today. I am going to a new doctor for a test run today. My doctor of the last five years is giving up her private practice to concentrate on her hospital duties as chief of staff of the pyschiatry department. I am nervous about this change.
9:35 am on September 12th, 2014
Hey, Fern! I really like that word “grex”. I will have to start using it myself.
9:37 am on September 12th, 2014
And congratulations to Spence! I am really enjoying the fact that the C&B books are getting some love! Whenever I see one in the bookstore, I am secretly proud because I am a Plunderer!
9:47 am on September 12th, 2014
Fern: Not only do I like the word grex–I’m going to use it.
9:57 am on September 12th, 2014
Happy birthday Barb!
10:11 am on September 12th, 2014
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARB!!!! Sending Corgi wiggles and grins.
So happy that OFA is getting the publicity he so richly deserves. And we add our vote to him making an appearance in Philly to celebrate.
We kept Mama in bed, and held the blanket down tight. But her leg looks worse today. So she will probably be off to club med soon.
sigh.
10:17 am on September 12th, 2014
T & G, is this going to affect the trip to the shore next week?
We like grex too. It will become part of the unique blog vocabulary.
10:35 am on September 12th, 2014
Schnickelfritz!…I like this word…snort!
10:45 am on September 12th, 2014
See, I already learned something new today. I tell Mr.Staff that the Plunderers know all, see all and teach us all too.
Notice my last post of the day yesterday? OFA is (sorry B.) a MUST READ.
Does anyone on this blog have an interest in doll houses and Dover type books about dollhouses? I have 11 paperbacks with such things as stained glass windows (for hand coloring) floor coverings, wallpaper, furniture and cut and assemble dollhouses.
If you want them and will pay the shipping I will send them. They will fit in one of the medium flat rate packages. Or if two people want them I could put them on the auction to raise money for Snowhook. Then I will pay the shipping.
Or if no one wants them they go to the raffle table at the River Rat Toga next week.
11:23 am on September 12th, 2014
fyi: We also use “grexy” as an adjective. As in: “Quit being so grexy”.
11:29 am on September 12th, 2014
Staff: Maybe put the stained glass one in the auction. I have been “sampling” Dover book pages to color and this one sounds like fun. Are the windows doll house sized? That might be a challenge.
Barb, happiest of days to you. Be sure to go to FB to check out all the wishes there as well.
Don’t tell Macy, lest she grex about it, but I got off my tushie and took the Other Two for a walk this morning. She went on an unauthorized walkabout the other day. I cannot take all three at once.
Off to Beacon House. BBL
12:06 pm on September 12th, 2014
Happy, Happy Birthday, Barb!!! from late risers two.
12:34 pm on September 12th, 2014
I like the list for dog lovers and congratulations to Spence. Paw and Order is the only fiction book on the list.
Happy Birthday Barb! Husky birthday hugs!
Wose, I hope the new doctor is a good one and you like him/her.
T&G, Please keep us informed how your mum is doing. I’m sorry to hear the leg is looking worse today.
12:40 pm on September 12th, 2014
Happy birthday to Barb!
T&G: Savannah has been dispatched to help sit on you until you feel better. Tenzing has stocked the Quilt with a fresh batch of Peeps just for you. He is also ready, willing and fluffed to be your pillow. He has taken up permanent residence under the Quilt so he is always available to be a pillow.
Diane C: Our Lady will tell you that Snowhook is comprised of race dogs, retired dogs, young dogs, dogs who don’t think they are dogs, and rescue dogs. She says there is always enough love to go around. Sometimes those rescue dogs turn out to be part of the race team like Rory who passed away in 2012 and Orion who is a champion on the trail. Not all rescues become racers, but they are no less loved.
1:02 pm on September 12th, 2014
Happy Birthday, Barb! Sounds like you have a fun b-day weekend planned.
1:33 pm on September 12th, 2014
Excellent choices, CBS Philly!
Happy birthday to Barb! And many more.
Also a very belated happy birthday to Wookie&Teddy’s Mom.
Fern: Love the link to Dutchy dictionary. I will use my favorite word (so far) in a sentence: “The man who lives in this house is up to his usual jackassery!” It is perfect, heh! (I am a grexer.)
Tupper&Gilly&Basil&Sage: Stage a sit-in on Golinka!
Staff: Are any of those Dover books suitable for your nieces?
Wose: Carpola! I forgot what I wanted to say…
Zoe & the Newfs: Thinking of you…
1:47 pm on September 12th, 2014
Mr.Tenzing!….He can still howl with the big-dawgs…snort!
2:07 pm on September 12th, 2014
Dawson, I think these are a little to adult for either of them. Maybe when they are in their teens.
But I did go back to the well and found a couple of Dover and Dover style coloring books to add to the pile for the auction. Yippee!
2:14 pm on September 12th, 2014
It seems I am going thru a bad streak once again. How was I to know that Mom didn’t want me finding her on her bike ride? And once I found her and knew she was o.k. I figured I could explore that dairy farm I have always wondered about. There were two dogs to meet there. One was a very little fellow. I think they both liked me.
T&G, Mom is worrit about you and your trip to the beach. She is also worrit about your mom.
Wose, Be sure to let us know how you like the new doc. Sometimes, change is good.
2:20 pm on September 12th, 2014
Zeus!…The World’s Tallest Dawg has died…snuffle!
2:23 pm on September 12th, 2014
I am alive and well, Rio. Mom did say she wanted to kill me. But something I did was a silver lining or something. Not sure I quite understood that one, but it sounded good, so all is well.
Speaking of confusing: during the night, Mom woke up with a “Charlie Horse”. Now I know about a dog named Charlie, who is Bee’s favorite member of Snowhook’s team. And we have 3 horses, but none are named Charlie. I am very confused on where this horse named Charlie came from, or where he went.
2:33 pm on September 12th, 2014
Here is the link about Zeus who
iswas the tallest dog. He was only 5 years old! So sad.http://abcnews.go.com/News/zeus-worlds-tallest-dog-dies-age/story?id=25446022
2:46 pm on September 12th, 2014
WE hate it when the gentle giants pass since mom loves newfies who are BIG dogs. She thinks that only the good go young so therefor…something or other about big dogs.
WE are having fun swimming and romping and running while mom cleans the house floors…somethings about the kids inviting the neighbors (who have no 4 leggers) to dinner tomorrow. We can show them how fun the nation within can be 🙂 Right? Right? Mmmhhh?
2:50 pm on September 12th, 2014
Who wouldn’t love a girl with drippy hair that looks like this? Zoe, you tell me!

2:52 pm on September 12th, 2014
Dork!…Alert!…snort!
3:20 pm on September 12th, 2014
Thieves!–Thank you for the additional information (and I did miss seeing Louisa May’s name…)
Rio et al–I saw that article and fixated on the name–Oh No! Not Zeusikov! The tall Zeus was still too young for this, to my thinking…
3:21 pm on September 12th, 2014
…and HOH–that fascinating creature with the drippy hair…
3:22 pm on September 12th, 2014
Happiest of birthday’s to Barb. And in honor of her birthday (bet she did not know this) Donna Ball’s 9th book in the Raine Stockton/Cisco series will be published on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014. It is called Home of the Brave.
3:25 pm on September 12th, 2014
OH — I saw an article about Zeus’s passing as well. The saddest part was that it said that the cause of death was old age (he was almost six, but even so, that is a very short lifespan).
3:52 pm on September 12th, 2014
Zeusikov – we think you are a very smart, and irrepressible doggy. And we know your mom loves you. Last night on Feb, there was a one line post from a friend of ours that made me laugh. ” Anyone want a black lab?”. Her doggy sounds like he would be a like minded playmate for you.
We are now firmly ensconsed in a hospital bed. Iv antibiotics will be involved. Please don’t worry – this is just something that happens now and then. There is an infection in my bloodstream, and it needs iv to knock it out. The Corgis gave it their best shot, but it wasn’t to be.
And the good news is that we can go to the beach whenever I am ready, the cottage we use is owned by friends, and we go up after the tourist season, so we don’t have to get out so the next renters can come in.
And we are pretty sure that not ALL the lobsters in the ocean will have been eaten by then.
3:57 pm on September 12th, 2014
WE of the HOH love our BIG sisters. Aretha Show Me Respect, passed when she was 11 1/2 sob, sob, so young. But older than many of her breed. Our precious dozer, Darah Thea is is just a year and a half and learning how to transport water aaaaaall over the place. Dork indeed, Rio.You would to love standing on her back when she is in the sushi pond ’cause you can see for miles and miles! She is a wonderful pillow and a love bucket 🙂
Hey, DianeC, Darah is available for visitations where she can cuddle all y’all in So Cal 🙂
4:01 pm on September 12th, 2014
Amalia, our dearest friend, just know you will be fine and soon since Eleanor Roofsevelt’s foto just showed up 🙂
4:06 pm on September 12th, 2014
Rio, we think a pug in a fridge is worse a drippy Newf 🙂 PFFFFFFT!
4:08 pm on September 12th, 2014
Hi Darah!!! When you visit Diane, take along some water. She is badly in need of that commodity in her neck of the woods.
Tupper’s Maw: we are sending happy thoughts your way, which are having trouble penetrating because of all the happy thoughts that constantly emanate from you you you.
4:26 pm on September 12th, 2014
OH, you are right. Tonight, I Darah Thea, the magnificent dozer dog, will blur to DianeC’s house. I will take lots of h20 in my fur and give Diane, Ms. Pretty, Edgar and Conan lots of sloppy kisses and leave water all around their tiny yard 🙂 P.S. Mom has told me about tiny So Cal yards…I can almost turn around 🙂
4:33 pm on September 12th, 2014
Howlers – aw gee whillikers. (Scuffing toe and blushing)
HOH – you may be onto something there. Soggy, dripping Newfs roaming the southwest, easing drought conditions. Love it.
4:50 pm on September 12th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama, we are sending all positive energy your way. Hope you are back feeling tip top by the end of the weekend. Lobsters are calling.
And no we did not know about Donna Ball’s new book. Thank you for the alert.
5:11 pm on September 12th, 2014
Royal Mum, hope you are feeling tip-top soon! Please ask the Storyteller to eat a big lobster for me!
Oh, Zeusikov, you are a good boy.
I met with my new doctor today. She seems very nice, very smart, and very perceptive She will be speaking with my former doc, as she does not understand why the meds I am currently taking were even prescribed for me, and why so much. She could see how very depressed I am, and she has already started me on a new medication. Her plan is to get me to feel better through different and better meds and a healthy lifestyle plan.
5:12 pm on September 12th, 2014
Thanks for the reminder. I did look at F.B. and saw some very nice birthday wishes. Good thing I just had a salad for lunch, because now Josh and Jess are taking me out to din-din. Casual place on the Square. May have to break down and have pizza, but I bet it’s not as good as what you guys had in Alaska!
5:14 pm on September 12th, 2014
Wose, we think your new doc sounds very smart indeed, and is on the right track. Maybe you are overly medicated!
5:30 pm on September 12th, 2014
Wose, please check your SDD.
6:35 pm on September 12th, 2014
HOH: Checked and responded.
6:42 pm on September 12th, 2014
Tupper’s Mom: I bet a couple of two-leggers will find their way to see you if they don’t see you Sunday. Glad vacation is easily postponed.
Mom is breathing deeply and only worked two half days this week.
Moving gets easier each day. Kind of a bother for me. I like sitting in her lap!
7:05 pm on September 12th, 2014
Wose, I am glad your first meeting with the new doctor went well.
It sounds very encouraging.
Royal Mum, It will be easier to do nothing in the hospital than it is at home. You are suppose to do nothing. Our prayers and support are with you.
7:08 pm on September 12th, 2014
We are taking over here at Club Med. The Golinka is being well held down by an assortment of fourleggeds.
And we are going on stage
One, two, three, kick
Turn, twirl, cross and kick
Yup, she will be dancing in our line up any minute now. So goodnight from center stage.
7:19 pm on September 12th, 2014
Good night Amalia. Sweet, sweet dreams.
Now Barb is off to do something wild and crazy – maybe have some pizza!
They are talking about patchy frost tonight. That is about a whole month early!
7:23 pm on September 12th, 2014
Dancing giraffes. Our mom cannot be with you and Wose at the same time. SO, Make sure that Amalia does as she should so If’n the mommy dog had to go to NY, she can…OKAY?
7:26 pm on September 12th, 2014
Loser!….Hey! The Biggest Loser is on again…snort!snort!…This show is so motivating for someone…sniff!…Not for me – It just makes me more tired….yawn!burp!
7:26 pm on September 12th, 2014
Rose!…I think your new Doc sounds like good news!…Wooooo!
7:30 pm on September 12th, 2014
Barb, it was 35 degrees here this morning. We saw a hummer this a.m. but haven’t seen one since then. Hopefully they decided to go south right away and will skip Illinois.
The garden is fine though. No frost damage as far as we can tell.
8:28 pm on September 12th, 2014
Wose, we don’t profess to be doctors, but a healthy lifestyle does do wonders. That includes eating “good” food, as well as excercise. Since Mom started filling every spare minute with excercise (walking, hiking, biking, riding), she is in a very happy state of mind.
8:34 pm on September 12th, 2014
Heroes:

9:02 pm on September 12th, 2014
HOH and O’H and Tupper’s Mama–What a brilliant idea! Have big big dogs blur over and bring water with them!!! I must notify Governor Brown. (Ahh–soggy dripping Newfs–bears with benefits!)
Ms. Amalia–Are you forced to eat hospital food? Can you wear your own nightgown? Can you have dog visitors? Ms. Pretty can blur over with her still-gammy leg and tell you about her laser treatments…
9:04 pm on September 12th, 2014
For those of you who may think I’ve been exaggerating about the drought conditions, here’s a link to a CA rescue effort for ducks and geese (dried up pond–no water, no food). Probably too intense for Fern and the girls…
http://www.upc-online.org/ducks/140806_upc_helps_rescue_geese_and_ducks.html
9:07 pm on September 12th, 2014
Wose–This sounds like very good news! I await further updates (as I Await Silent Tristero’s Empire–does that ring any bells for anyone?)
I’m being moderated for posting about a duck and goose rescue!!!
WHYYYYY???
9:08 pm on September 12th, 2014
Howlers!…Your Maw Rocks!…Wooooo!
9:12 pm on September 12th, 2014
Rio–I don’t “get” that show. My ballet teacher inadvertantly referred to it (after one viewing) as “The World’s Biggest Loser” which kind of takes something away from the motivational aspect.
I did not know the dancing giraffes were also green and purple (green ground, purple spots? or vice versa?)
Waiting eagerly for soggy dogs…
9:25 pm on September 12th, 2014
You soggy dogs can bypass me and go straight to Diane’s house.
I’m a happy Husky. A cold front has come through.
A dry Darah can come visit me because I think she would be a lot of laughs.
9:33 pm on September 12th, 2014
Diane!…That is your loss…snort!
9:40 pm on September 12th, 2014
OK, will head for DianeC. in CA and deposit all the water in our double coat…maybe 5 to 7 gallons. Then shake and dry off then head to Siber Mr. Husky, if that is ok? Then I will go home again. Heck, I can do this 3 or 4 times a night. I night have a cure for the drought, ya think?
9:44 pm on September 12th, 2014
GAH,,,I “MIGHT” not night…again big ole paws.
10:22 pm on September 12th, 2014
At the end of another rainy day. Sadly, it feels like winter is in the air. Sad because summer has been really crummy weather wise. Tomorrow I drop Quill/Max off at the adoption clinic and drive to Seward to see my sister play in a concert. It is supposed to rain tomorrow also but I hope we have some dry days at some point so that I can get outdoor projects done.
10:25 pm on September 12th, 2014
It is beddy bye time on this here farm. G’night all.
10:52 pm on September 12th, 2014
Our mom agrees with night night. Who knows how many gallons of h2o Ms Darah Thea can blur to Calif. overnight, heck she sleeps most of the day, anyway! We will greet all in the a.m. 🙂
11:04 pm on September 12th, 2014
I forgot to mention that I liked the name Qwill for the pup for the Cat Who… character, but it must be spelled with a “W” to be correct.
Amalia, I hope all you giraffes are amiable ones. Sleep well.
Cold front here too, just in time for the huge electric bill I got. Windows set to permanently open.
Nightly noodles
11:06 pm on September 12th, 2014
CHobbit!…Is Sadie-Girl going with youse?…sniff!…We here love Sadie,Sadie, Precious Lady…snort!…Even though she is a bed-snob…grunt!
11:21 pm on September 12th, 2014
Rio: yes, I am thinking of taking Saidie but undecided. One the one hand, she needs “me” time but on the other hand she doesn’t like riding in cars and it is 2+ hours each way. Her and Qwill/Max are not getting along. Qwill is an affection hog and the two of them haven’t played together since that very brief moment when you were here. Not fighting but not friends either.
12:33 am on September 13th, 2014
Sadie!…She had been hospitable, but now she is ready for him to leave her happy home..sniff!…I have felt that way for many years now…grunt!…Beau has to GO!
1:41 am on September 13th, 2014
It was 102* today! and it has “cooled” off to 82*.
The endless summer……
