Good morning, everyone! Wouldn’t minus years be handy? Glad a good day was had by OFA. Staff, a bummer about your garden but perhaps DAwson is right, maybe some of the poor downtrodden little things will come back.
Great to hear from ML during daylight hours, we were beginning to think your were a vampire only coming out at night 🙂
Since it is Monday, again so soon, let’s have a magical Monday .

Good morning all. Hope OFA’s day was all he wished for.

Staff, I bet the garden centers still have a few tomato plants left. It’s not too late for a Sept-Oct crop. Try to find some large ones, even if they are a little more pricey. I would leave the existing ones, just in case they pull out of it. I know how I would feel if that happened here.

Dawson and Barb. I planned on leaving them as an experiment. But I also had in my mind picking up a big one or two just so I can have my home grown fresh tomato sandwiches this summer.

And my friends will bring me their spares if they didn’t get hailed out also.

Bear Spirit. Thanks. I WILL enjoy today.

Greetings everyone. Today is unpacking the truck, then going to get the new plants, trees and bushes that are going to be installed tomorrow.
It is so cold here that sweaters are being hauled back out of the cedar closet.
    Isn’t it almost July?

HOH: I did cook the pork overnight and it is now sitting in the fridge next to the broth awaiting Stage Two, later tonight or tomorrow morning depending upon my whims.

The pork aroma wafted through the house last night, and I think the cats noticed it too. They were all three in my room waking me up early. Yawn!

We also have some small tomatoes, and the beans are about ready to explode. In a week or 10 days we are going to be bombarded with green beans. A couple of squash will be ready in a few days too.

She is 14 weeks old. The litter of 4 was taken, along with a 1-1/2 yr old boy. Very bad conditions, but loved by someone unable to care for them. They were never even outdoors until Saint Godmom Leslie rescued them.
She does not think they are purebreds, but we want to genetic test her and Kat one of these days. Does anyone know how?

Sure, it can be done thru your vet. Or maybe even on line, just like for people. I am not sure if the vets do one with a blood draw, but they can also be done with a cheek swab.

  25. Barb, Maggie and Lucy
    3:21 pm on June 29th, 2015

You can order on line and the cost is about $75-85. Not sure which ones are best. Here is the kicker – I don’t think all breeds are part of their choices. For instance, BC and Aussies are choices, but English Shepherds usually are not. Not sure of the Klee Kia (sp?) is a listed breed.

Barb – we are very impressed by your knowledge and identification of the plants. You are correct on most of them.
We have Quick Fire Hydrangea bush and tree, Nantucket Blue Hydrangea, 3 different kinds of boxwood, a purple Ninebark, a Japanese Willow, a Wine and Roses wegelia (sp?), a Popcorn verbinum, 4 Knockout roses and one other that we can’t remember right now.
The nursery “lost” the two Knockouts that we had picked out, so they gave us 4 to replace them.

Rio – as you may know, Natasha is a very good friend of ours. She specifically requested we put in lots of plants and bushes as camouflage for her secret missions. And who are we to argue with Natasha?

Barb, My tomato recipes for sandwiches and toast are very simple. Tomato toast is Toast, butter, thinly sliced tomatoes topped with some tiny diced onions and a little salt. I LOVE it. It is a great evening snack and a wonderful breakfast.

The tomato sandwich is white bread, mayo, thickly slice tomatoes. The thicker the better. I like to slice them at least 1/2 inch thick. And the bread is best if it is a heavy loaf. Then it absorbs the tomato juice well and doesn’t drip. I like Hellman’s or Kraft Real Mayo. None of those low fat mayo’s.

This may surprise you, but we’ve done somethings of which we are not proud (hat tip to Professor B). But, blurring by to get a glimpse at Bella Rossa in the middle of the night doesn’t rank among them. Breaking our promise to Luna that we wouldn’t do anything to wake up Bella Rossa didn’t bother us either. However, we are not proud that at the exact moment we chose to sniff and whiff Bella Rossa she chose to wake up and make all sorts of noise. Our timing of not getting caught must be off. We are so ashamed.
