Tennis Lesson: From Thereby Hangs A Tail
On one side of the net stood a tall blond guy with a bucket of balls at his feet; on the other side, an older guy, small, with a gray beard: Sherman Ganz. I always notice beards. A strange human thing: only some men have them, and women never. What was that about?
The tall blond guy took a ball from the bucket and hit it to Ganz. Ganz wore white shorts, had skinny legs like sticks. He swung his racquet and hit the ball back. The tall guy let it go by, took out another ball. “Brush up, Shermie, brush up. Spin on the ball, always spin on the ball.” He hit the ball over the net. Ganz swung, this time missing the ball completely. “Brush up but through, up but through, up but through,” said the tall guy, sending over another ball. Brush? I knew brushes, saw none around. Maybe tennis was tougher than it looked, but I didn’t worry about that because a ball came bouncing over in our direction – we were now beside the court – and I snatched it out of the air, and who wouldn’t have, the ball being right there practically saying, “Catch me.” And then – this part was a bit harder to understand – I was on the court, racing toward the net. Up and over: not much of a challenge, tennis nets turning out not to be very high, but still it felt so great, being airborne and all, that I kind of twisted around still up there, if you see what I mean, and landed facing back at the net, and the next thing I knew I was jumping over it again, from the other direction, and, yes! doing the spin move once more, and when I landed this time, somehow with two balls in my mouth now – how had that happened? – I –

Thank you Chet!
You paint the picture so vividly that I laugh every time!
8:38 am on June 5th, 2011
Good morning Chet, Melanie and everyone else who is up early.
We love that scene, too. Is today the day Spence/PA is playing in a tennis match? Double, I believe.
Did some research online and found out those bugs are Buffalo Gnats. We are having an massive invasion here in Illinois. Evidently, the cold wet spring made good breeding grounds for the little bastards. They go after eyes, mouth, nose and ears, biting and causing itchy lumps on people and livestock. People are losing poultry from attacks, and people are showing up at ERs due to allergic reactions. Bug repellants don’t have any effect on them, but vanilla is supposed to help. Barb just wiped some all over her face and neck before going out to water the animals.
We wondered why the chickens were staying inside their coop yesterday!
Good news is they should be gone in a week or 2, but it is so upsetting to not be able to be outdoors after the long cold winter. Grunt and grumble!
8:49 am on June 5th, 2011
Good morning Melanie and Barb and other early birds.
I love to picture Chet busting that move.
Those bugs sound terrible! They’re not biting the baby goats are they?
8:57 am on June 5th, 2011
Liz, Goog morning. The babies are staying in the barn for the most part. The bugs seem to stay outside, so they are safe in there. The info that we Googled said they go after white animals and chickens, so we will keep a watch on them.
9:00 am on June 5th, 2011
Chet would make a great doubles partner in tennis!
Good morning Chet and everyone.
Yes, today Admin is playing doubles. I’m going to work in the garden and pot the new plants. Sunny and very calm here and hopefully we will not get any Buffalo gnats.
9:00 am on June 5th, 2011
Good morning, Chet, Melanie, Barb, Maggie, and Liz.
Love reading about that tennis lesson, but we thought this would be our first Sunday with Ingrid after finally getting to know Ingrid.
Buffalo Gnats…hmmm…proves the theory that nothing good comes by way of Buffalo, including snow. and now bugs. Sounds unbearable to us. Why is it that they will be gone in 2 weeks?
Our ears are getting chewed up by flies like happens every summer. Mom finally remembered to put Swat on them yesterday. We hate Swat. She hates our ears getting chewed up.
9:02 am on June 5th, 2011
Good morning to B.
Is Admin playing in the French Open? 🙂
9:19 am on June 5th, 2011
That’s funny – I assumed they were called buffalo gnats because they’re really large! (or were you kidding, OH?)
Thank goodness for Swat, chewed up ears are a terrible thing.
Nice to see you all, briefly – bedtime now. It’s really hard to manage getting on the blog with the time difference…
9:33 am on June 5th, 2011
We had never heard of these bugs before, so the Google links were very interesting. They are called Buffalo Gnats because of the big hump on their backs. They have a 3 week life span, and they don’t think we will have another outbreak of them because of the warmer weather.
Barb is going to St.LOouis next weekend for her nieces’s baby shower, so hopefully they are not out and about down there.
10:00 am on June 5th, 2011
We have something like those in May. Here they call them May flies. Nasty, Nasty, Nasty. In Virginia the May flies were much different. Bigger and they dived bombed you! Have no idea what either are really called, I think they were called May flies because that’s when they showed up and they rarely lasted into June.
10:02 am on June 5th, 2011
LizF: Just write on the last days post at the end. Those of us who go to bed early read the last postings because Chet hasn’t commented in the morning when we get up.
Then we can post to you . . . sort of like a time delay. As if you were on Mars talking to us. There would always be a delay before answering!!
10:19 am on June 5th, 2011
Our bugs are nothing special; we just seem to have a lot of them.
10:25 am on June 5th, 2011
Just had our Sunday morning raw egg with kibble breakfast. Mom does that once a week, ever since Chet said he gets that every day. Thanks Chet.
We have heard of June bugs…maybe in the South? What are they? Same as May bugs but sleep later?
10:30 am on June 5th, 2011
Chet: I’m picturing you with two tennis balls in your mouth. It’s making me smile.
I’m packing to go home…yippee…hopefully no snow left and no bugs yet. Except tennis is on and I can’t take my eyes off the screen.
10:45 am on June 5th, 2011
Chet! That twist in the air as you go over the net is amazing!
We are looking forward to our THIRD warm day! No bugs here, just an occasional fly. When the weather cooperates, it can be a virtual paradise in the NW. Wolfie, this would have been the perfect time for your visit. Sorry it was so dreary when you came.
Time for our Sunday breakfast and then we plan to watch the Newf’s
& YsuccessfulS in the pool video.
Good Morning Everyone (good night, Liz)
11:11 am on June 5th, 2011
For those of you who haven’t seen the GREAT video!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCAIYzOQAK0
Hate June bugs. They eat the peach trees’ leaves. Oh, wait that Japanese beetles. Nope I’m wrong. It’s both.
Dawson: Tennis ball behind back? How does that work?
11:15 am on June 5th, 2011
Hi!!! We just got a chance to catch up on the blog. Wow, what a lot of happenings. We laughed a lot, but the best one was Rio’s
“Testing my butt”. HAHAHAHAHA – Rio, don’t Pugs use commas?
Mama says that they had a fabulous show, all thanks to the good luck wishes and thoughts from the Plunderers.
They got to Boston in record time and found the show (miracle 1)
Once they unloaded, Mama asked a local cop about parking, telling him she was really afraid to drive alone in Boston and then take the T back. The cop said, oh, you aren’t from here? When Mama said they lived here in W.Mass, the cop took pity on her. He said she had had enough to deal with from the storms of the week, and he took her to a legal parking place about 500 feet from her show booth – told her to park there for free for the day, and he would keep an eye on her car. (miracle 2)
The weather was PERFECT – blue skies, cool clear air, breezy, and people were OUT, walking, shopping, and happy.
Mama’s friends from the beach were there – they haven’t seen each other since before Christmas, and the friends brought them their Christmas present – a whole cooler full of fresh lobsters…yummmmm!!
Then the show was over, and they packed up their stuff, the same cop came over and directed Mama into a loading space, and told her to take her time loading – he wouldn’t let anyone bother her.
(The cop’s wife now owns a lovely pair of turquoise earrings)
The entrance to the highway home was right at the next intersection, so they didn’t get lost getting out of Boston either.(miracle 3)
And traffic was heavy, but zooming along really fast, so Mama got to drive home at 80 mph – her preferred speed but highly frowned upon by local highway patrols.
They got home at 11 last night and Mama keeps dancing around saying that we can pay bills AND eat lobster too (miracle 4)
We’re so glad that they’re so glad – so thanks all of you!!!
11:31 am on June 5th, 2011
Good job T&G!!
Liz: What is the temperature there?
11:31 am on June 5th, 2011
Tupper & Gilly, The Pack says if any of those lobsters crawl up here, they’ll deal with them. snicker . . .
11:33 am on June 5th, 2011
Melanie: Sometimes I get a pinched nerve or some pain and tightness right under my shoulder blade where I can’t reach to massage it. I take a tennis ball and manueuver it between the wall and the sore spot then wiggle around like a bear scratching itself on a tree.
11:39 am on June 5th, 2011
Great Show!
T&G: I’m glad everything went smoothly for you this weekend and that you sold lots of your art. I wonder how the Newf’s would react if there was a lobster in their pool.
11:41 am on June 5th, 2011
Dawson: What an image! Excellent!
11:46 am on June 5th, 2011
Great Show!
T&G: I’m glad everything went smoothly for you this weekend and that you sold lots of your art.
Melanie: I love your video. I wonder how the Newf’s would react if there was a lobster in their pool.
11:49 am on June 5th, 2011
Oops!
Just practicing for when I get home to the double posting computer. That double post was my fault. I went to watch Melanie’s video and then thought I hadn’t submitted. ‘scuse me.
I’m all packed up and leving for the airport in about 15 minutes.
11:49 am on June 5th, 2011
Hey Rio, Rocky has competition and he gets paid $180 per hour. Well, he gets paid in food and his ‘boss’ gets the money.

Have a good trip the rest of the way home dear Dawson.
11:50 am on June 5th, 2011
I’d love to see more of the “pool party.”
11:52 am on June 5th, 2011
You know what else was cool – Mama said that everyone was walking their dogs in the park, and they got to meet all kinds of puppies! There was a miniature Greyhound, Basenjis, a Skye Terrier, a Boxer, lots of Poodles in all sizes, a Shar-Pug (yup, new “designer dog”), a Papillon (sp?) and lots and lots of “pocket dogs”, perfect for city living. They even met a Min-Pin whose name was Macy. (only he was a boy, named after the store). He jumped right up in Mama’s lap for a cuddle, which amazed his owner. She said he was usually stand-offish.
Melanie – Mama says these lobsters are already all trained like Rio – they can’t leave the yard. tee heee
11:58 am on June 5th, 2011
June bugs are my favorite. When I am at the farm anyway. They are big fat slow bugs and they come out at night and try to get in the door and they bang into the glass and wiggle around on the porch and are fun to play with. They are almost as much fun as when a miller gets into the house and Alice and I get to chase it around. Good times!
There are hardly any bugs here in Minneapolis. I think they spray stuff on them or something.
12:06 pm on June 5th, 2011
Barb and Maggie – what if you caught a whole bunch of those gnats, dipped them in tobasco sauce and fried ’em up – voila! Buffalo Wings!
tee hee
12:09 pm on June 5th, 2011
Abbie – yup, summer moths are the BEST. Mama lets some in the house on purpose some nights, just so we can play. Then when we are done – Kitty Sushi on the Wing! Yum
12:11 pm on June 5th, 2011
Tupper and Gilly. Sounds like a good day at the craft show. Horray for your Mom and Dad. You should stay away from those lobsters. They have claws way bigger than the herbs.
I am going out to look at fabric with some friends this afternoon. Y’all have a good time now.
12:12 pm on June 5th, 2011
Basil and Sage.
Heh heh heh. Abbie is the one who chews up the finally deceased moth. I just play with them.
12:21 pm on June 5th, 2011
Thanks for the link, Staff. Hmmm . . .
I’m thankful that my nose isn’t that powerful!
12:31 pm on June 5th, 2011
Melanie: The pool video is GREAT! The pack is going to enjoy their summer. Great dive by McKey. Hi to Dan & Zoe.
T&G: So glad to hear your show and the trip to Boston turned out perfectly! Now, hopefully, you can take a break and enjoy the day (and the lobster!)
Dawson: Have a good trip home and hopefully the snow is gone by the time you get there.
Staff: That Shelby has a very unusual occupation, that’s for sure! Making the big bucks though ( or at least his owners
12:43 pm on June 5th, 2011
Good Morning/Afternoon my fellow felines.
I think “kitty sushi” would be a perrrrfect a lacarte dish for a Sunday.
Looking forward to a lovely day sunbathing on the deck.

Love the video Melanie and the ending with Mac. We didn’t want it to end so if you find yourself with time on your hands and nothing to do, more video of the Newfs in the pool would be welcome.
T&G, Glad the art show went so well for your mom and it is neat that the cop’s wife now has a pair of turquoise earrings. That would have been a very difficult day without the cop’s help.
Chet, you should come to my dog park. There are always lots of tennis balls there and two-leggeds to throw them for you. I do not fetch tennis balls, but I will sometimes bat one around like I would a mouse.
Rio, The game starts at 2:00.
1:27 pm on June 5th, 2011
Hey, y’all! Mom had something to do after church, but she FINALLY got home and turned the computer on for me. And then there was another slight delay because Dad made popcorn, and I didn’t want to leave the other room until the bowl was empty — no sense letting THEM have all of it!
The only bugs I have to worry about here are those pesky fleas. And they won’t be a problem if Dad would only remember to grind up my flea pill and mix it in my food. No way am I eating that thing whole — yuck, hack, patooie! He’d better hurry — I can feel last month’s pill starting to wear off!!!
2:34 pm on June 5th, 2011
T&G: What a successful show your mom & dad had! Lots of miracles. We think miracle #2 was the best, because we couldn’t imagine your mom having to unload then park and take the “T”. That cop sure was nice. We’re glad his wife will have the torquoise earrings.
Mom just got done weeding her veggie garden. That was a chore long, long, long overdue. We are all surprised that some green beans did come up, after all Just missed them in that weed-filled garden. The pepper bed was the worst, but turns out all the peppers are doing great. Even the habanero which started out so tiny that nobody thought it would survive. There are flowers on the zucchini, squash, cucumber, jalapeno, and tomato plants. Mom says thats a good thing. We are just happy that she got that job done so we can all go for a trail ride this evening.
2:40 pm on June 5th, 2011
T&G: I’m so glad the show was a success and even happier for the miracles that made it possible. The kindness of strangers has helped me more than once in life and I always find it remarkable.
2:57 pm on June 5th, 2011
Greetings to Everyone!
The Prof and I just returned from our little weekend getaway…What fun to just relax, read, walk and sleep!
We saw lots of cows, sheep, gophers/groundhogs (being a city girl, I’m not sure which), deer, and of course, dogs. The best being Zelda.
Melanie: I think I would like an anxiety wrap of my own! Loved the Newfs pool party video!
Abbie: You are quite the looker, and the quilts are lovely.
When I(the Prof)figure out how to get the pictures from the cell phone to the blog, I will post pics of Zelda.
This is where we stayed……

3:03 pm on June 5th, 2011
T&G: I’m glad your mom’s show was successful!!
Despite what some people say about Boston, the people are very friendly and helpful (it is my favorite city to visit), so I’m not surprised about the 3 miracles…Those Red Sox fans on the other hand….
3:51 pm on June 5th, 2011
Hmmm. There will be more videos after I rest up from last week.
KirbyT: So you are a pill patooie dog. How far can you let that pill fly?
Our Pack has to take their pills in PB. That way we know it gets down without getting lost in their jowls. They have a lot of jowls to get lost in.
Patsy was groomed today. She is beautiful and fluffy! Next week she’s going to The Newf Spring Fling! A lovely time for Newfs and their friends. Zoë is going to take her, unless her ride (who’s having emergency surgery) can’t do it. Then I will drive and we will take Patsy and Franklin.
Maybe we’ll try Patsy on the toss and catch the cookies again. She was just a youngster when she came in last place. (She still got a prize)
Not that she has improved on her catching ability, but maybe everyone else will have an off day.
4:33 pm on June 5th, 2011
Alice!…It doesn’t surprise me that AbbieTheKat is the one who eats all the millers…heh!…We could use the likes of her at this house right now…sniff!…I don’t chase Millers. They are just annoying as all get out…grunt!
Rose!…My friend says she would love to have a get-away Cottage all to herself…snort!…She said it would be a blast to runaway and leave me and her mother for a full week or two…grump!
SiberH!…We got home just in time to turn the game on!….woooo!… Those two were packing up my kitchen at my other house….sniff!…It looked like a lot of work, so I stayed out of the way all morning…heh!
4:36 pm on June 5th, 2011
Spring-Fling!…What is the Newf Spring Fling all about?…snort!…I don’t remember this from last year….sniff! .,…What goes on there? It is only for Newfs?….grunt!
5:04 pm on June 5th, 2011
After losing the recipies from my mother (for shame), I had to wait for her to return from a visit with her sisters to request the recipies again. I just sent the recipies to Dishlickers sans photos. I hope it’s not too late.
5:09 pm on June 5th, 2011
Riö, It a day of “Games and workshops in the morning” They have a Brown Bag Raffle.
Yes, it’s for Newfs though I have seen some other dogs there if they are a Pack with a Newf!
5:13 pm on June 5th, 2011
Mom and dad took off to Los Angeles and left me, Gus and Teddie with Carol the dog sitter.
We like Carol but I miss the folks!
We couldn’t find the pool party video, Melanie. We found all the others (loved the one about the strolling Ellie) but not the most recent. Is there a trick to finding it?
5:22 pm on June 5th, 2011
We’ll bite (not literally). Whats a Brown Bag Raffle?
5:30 pm on June 5th, 2011
Wölfie, go up to the 11:11 posting and hit the link.
OleyHowlers: People donate things, brown bags are put in front of the things. People by tickets and drop the tickets into the bags for the things they want.
6:16 pm on June 5th, 2011
Whoops, sorry wanted to get back to “Fierce Creatures”. Then a person picks a ticket out of the Brown Bag. That’s the raffle part.

Good morning/evening again.
B – the temperature here is going to be about 14 celsius today, dropping to 10 celsius by Wednesday with snow on the mountains around Canberra. Into the minuses at night. (ten degrees is 50 fahrenheit). Not cold like you guys get of course! Not snow like you get either. But I really don’t like the cold.
Well done TnG for doing so well at the art show.
Dawson – your bear wriggle sounds cute!
7:40 pm on June 5th, 2011
Good morning/evening to you, too, Liz! We were kind of lucky today, I guess. It was supposed to be 38.8 today, but it only got up to 37.2. Whew! Looks like we dodged a bullet there! (For you folks on this continent — the forecast was 102, but it “only” got up to 99!)
Dawson: Mom used to work with a woman who would do the bear scratching thing — without a tennis ball — on the corner of the wall at the library whenever her back itched. Oh, and did I mention that this corner was in the public area of the library???
7:42 pm on June 5th, 2011
SiberH!… I’m sick of the Red Blob!…grump!
Wookie!….Please check your secret decoder device…sniff!
Rebecca!…Please check your secret decoder device…grunt!
Flowers!…Now we have to go outside and plant more flowers…sneeze!cough!
7:44 pm on June 5th, 2011
Wow Kirby, 37! That is on the high side, and only early June, yikes. Still…better than 14!!
7:50 pm on June 5th, 2011
Whoo Hooo! The Twins won a fourth time! According to the AP’s Doug Tucker….”The Twins had not recorded a four-game sweep since winning four in a row against Oakland from July 12-15, 2007. They had not swept four from Kansas City since Aug. 3-6, 2006.”
goodness gracious No red bob’s for me today.
7:56 pm on June 5th, 2011
Liz: My Uncle Doug — who lives in Reno, Nevada — had snow last week! Give me a good ol’ 22 degrees C any day! I wish we could have that year-round!!! Oh, and in my perfect weather request, it would rain, but only at night so I don’t have to take walks in it! And it would only snow one day a year — on Christmas Eve after everyone gets where they need to go, so they would wake up to a White Christmas. And then it would melt off in the afternoon so all the kids who just got new bikes could try them out! If only I could be the weatherman, that would be my forecast!!!
8:02 pm on June 5th, 2011
Hi Liz!
Kirby T. I’m really glad it’s not that here!
This is for Staff!
8:08 pm on June 5th, 2011
Kirby, isn’t that Camelot?
Hi Melanie!
8:09 pm on June 5th, 2011
Rio. Have checked SDD. Will respond soon. Sorry about the Rockies.
Melanie. Loved the video. I’m not a pool sort of guy myself, prefer streams and stuff like that, but I know the Pack will adore it.
Mom has been busy all day on her auction quilt. Something about a funky chicken. It will most definitely catch the eye of B&M and SiberH.
Wookie the quilt supervisor
8:13 pm on June 5th, 2011
Hi evybody! It’s me, Annie, and I just had to tell somebody about what happened to me. Maybe someone could call the ASPCA or somebuddy else. Mom was washing stuff in the sink and the next thing I knew, one of those things was me. I don’t think we are supposed to get that wet are we? Don’t we shrink or sumthin? It took me all afternoon in the yard to get just a little bit of my dirt collection back. That washing thing was just mean!
8:21 pm on June 5th, 2011
It is very mean, Annie. In my book, it is dog abuse.
8:22 pm on June 5th, 2011
Staff, congrats on your team for winning
finally. Our Rangers swept the Cleveland Indians for the first time since 1978 today.
I don’t care if some dog is named after a store, no self respecting male should let himself be called Macy. hmph! Congrats on the successful art show though.
Dad watched the Newf videos. He thought they were cool, but he said, “why do they have so many?” That to me is the kind of question that if you have to ask it, you would not understand the answer, so mom just said, “because they can”.
It has been around 100 for 4 days now here, so I guess our unusually cool spring is over.
Wolfie, you can blur over to Texas and hang out with us. No one will know. Just come between the dog sitter visits.
8:30 pm on June 5th, 2011
Hi Annie (sorry to hear about the b-a-t-h), hi Macy.
8:33 pm on June 5th, 2011
Dear Macy and Melanie,
Thanks for the congrats. Heh. We are feeling fairly happy about the Twins now. If they would only get healthy! Sob. Oh well. We just keep on hoping.
8:34 pm on June 5th, 2011
Hey Liz, Sorry about the cold there. We could use a little cold here. Hot (90+ degrees) and humid tomorrow. ISH
8:44 pm on June 5th, 2011
We haven’t had a high above 93 degrees yet this season.
The Arizona forest fire is only two miles now from the NM border. It is all wild country so 2 miles has no meaning. I was worried about the wolves in that country but mom assured me that they were smart enough to get out of the fire’s way. Man is the wolves enemy, not wildfire.
Good for both the Twins and the Rangers!!
8:53 pm on June 5th, 2011
Hey, everyone. Sorry about the sneak attack on you Annie. I am too big to fit in the sink, thank Dog.
We watched Melanie’s video. Great job Melanie, and great job, all you guys who worked on it.
That funky chicken quilt has Barb’s attention. She can’t wait to see it. Siber, are we going to fight over it?
Baarb just read a Laura Levine book, Killer Blonde, and she keeps talking about Ben and Jerry’s Funky Monkey ice cream. Power of suggestion won out and Barb bought some today. Pretty darn good!
8:55 pm on June 5th, 2011
Macy, your mom is right.
(whispering) Annie, The Pack LIKES to get wet. But try not to mention it when Siber-H is around.
Once again I’m hitting the hay. That almost rhymes.

Healthy!… hmmmmphf!…Our guys are healthy, except for one pitcher, the others just forgot how to score runs…grunt! …I have no idea what is going on with those Rockies this year. They came out fighting and winning in April, died completely in May and now just simmering so far in June…huffle!
Fires!…There are fires around this state I guess because the sky was all weird looking and foggy-like only not fog just heavy and not blue, more whitish….grump!…And HOT! It seemed hot and muggy….grump!
Tomorrow!… My friend is dreading going to the busy place because she will be locked away in a conference room somewhere for all day long in training…heh! ….Sounds dreadful and probably will be…snort!
8:58 pm on June 5th, 2011
Siber-H – The Arizona fire is on all the news back here. Yikes!
9:08 pm on June 5th, 2011
Kirby!… We are watching the Premiere of “Food Star” right now…snort!…There are two contestants from Colorado on this show ….heh!…This will be fun to see which one goes home first….snorkel!

Thanks Liz. I think 50 F is a great temperature. It’s 81 now and that is too warm for me.
9:34 pm on June 5th, 2011
Tupper!… Hard to imagine what your gal went through for the show, but it sounds like all worked out for the best!….Woooo!….My friend says being able to pay bills is a very good thing…grunt!… She has started another project that has no instructions. She saw a photo in one of her books by the author who just wants to show off her work and not give out any advice on how to create the piece…heh!…Well, my friend decided she was going to replicate it with color variations and gosh knows what else….heh!… There are so many pieces to this project it is mind blowing to a mere Pug like myself…sniff!… There is no way it will be done for the Auction or the second Auction most likely. Not with the way her mother sucks up all our free time…huffle!

Home at last.
There is no snow. A beautiful day with half blue skies and half black rain clouds. Now the rain clouds are taking over. I’m going to have a nap while dinner cooks.

Good evening folks.
Ms Macy – good to hear from you. I’ve been a’missing you.
Now about names – down here sometimes its hard to tell who’s who with the name. There are men named Ashley, and women named Bobbie. So Macy the male wouldn’t even get a second glance.
But you will always be the first Macy in my big old’ heart.

Rio: SDD checked and response sent.
The heat isn’t the issue hear, not even the rain—no, the rain is good for us right now. It’s those damn mosquitoes. They attack at night…hate them so much…

Rio – if you insist, then alright, you can be my brother. Always have room for more kinfolk. Even those odd ones who don’t look like anyone else in the family.

Seems like everyone had a nice weekend. Glad things went so well for T & G’s mom and dad. It is refreshing to know there are good people in the world.
Productive day here. Got some grass cut (after Barb marinated herself in vanilla). The farmer came and cut the pasture, so it can be baled Tuesday. He is a successful farmer, so he has an enclosed cab with music and a.c. so bugs didn’t get him either.
That reminds me,we are going to hit the hay. Sweet dreams all.

Admin is well on his way to losing the bet, but there are more games to be played. Next game Monday night in Boston. 8 pm eastern start.

You are right Rio. I have no idea which way you will jump.
It makes the blog interesting to me.
I am going to jump into bed.
Goodnight all. Glad Dawson is home safe.

Found it, Melanie. Very cool. Thanks!
If memory serves me correctly, didn’t Gracie have her babies last year one year ago tomorrow? That was awesome!

Jumping!….Alice I have to jump into my bet now too…grunt!…The front is still turned to the wall because someone here thinks I make too much noise…huffle!…. My friend never complained because she always listens to the radio, but now she has to turn her radio down because well, it bothers someone else….sniff!… This threesome is working out really well otherwise…heh! …I’m off to jump into bed now…grunt!

Miz Alice,I would be honored to include you in my family, but I do believe my Ma would have a fit and fall in it ifn I told her that I had a Kat sister. So, could we call it a cousin connection? Now you know that down here, we all are kissin’ cousins, so that way, you could sneak up on Rio and plant a big old wet one right on his little pug nose. That oughta give him that conniption you were looking forward to.

Late posting again after a busy weekend, but what did we do??
What cute babby goats, Barb & Maggie!! Glad all went okay after the very long wait. And it sounds like Barb was a super midwife!
Loved the video, Melanie. We want to see more with several newfs enjoying the water together.
Well, a little of the mystery of the appearance of Ishmael/Isabella (probably Isabella, but still not positive)has been solved. A stray had been making periodic visits to our yard, this stray being a Siamese. Mom thought a tom belonging to someone else in the neighborhood since she had seen him in other yards sometimes when she would go walk. And she did think he was probably the dad of our new little baby that Toes led her to rescue. Lately, the stray has been staying more and more at our yard. A few days ago, Dad announced that he thought he was a she because it looked like she had kitty teats. Then Mom saw that she looked like she was still nursing…how can that be since we have the baby in the house. Yesterday, she made another appearance in the back yard…closely followed by a black kitten….no, make that 4 black kittens!!! All about Izzy’s size.
We think Mama Kitty must have been moving her litter around the day we found Izzy and she was either the 1st one moved or the last one to be moved since she was all alone and crying like crazy. How strange that the one we found was the only siamese in the litter, and not at all shy with people or other cats.
Now Mom has to try to trap the mama and her babies (none of them will come close yet) so they can all be fixed. Hopefully, the other kittens will be able to be socialized and we can find homes for them.
Anyone want a black kitten?

G&BB: Been there, done that! We’ve already got one black kat and one snowshoe kat. As far as I’m concerned, that’s two too many! (Actually, the black cat and I get along just fine. It’s that other one that doesn’t get along with anybody — except my boy. He was gone over the weekend and she just about went crazy!)
Rio: We watched the FN Star show tonight, and Mom did notice that a couple of the contestants were from Colorado. It’s early going to have a favorite yet, but we did pick some least favorites. Luckily, one of them went home tonight! Sorry that it was one of the Colorado guys, but he was driving us crazy — and he was taking his team down with him!!!

G&B: I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: Mothers are special creatures, human, dog or cat. Sounds like mama cat knows where to find a safe place.
