Teeth (2 – From Thereby Hangs A Tail)
“Brush your teeth?” said Bernie the next morning.
“Yeah,” said Charlie.
“Didn’t hear any spitting,” Bernie said. So what? Bernie didn’t hear a lot of things; but I hadn’t heard any spitting either. Hey! Charlie was tricky.
He laughed.
“Go brush your teeth,” said Bernie.
Charlie went into the bathroom. I followed Bernie into the office. He took down the Niagara Falls picture, opened the safe and removed an envelope.
“What’s in there?” said Charlie from the doorway.
“That was quick,” Bernie said. “How many teeth did you do?”
“All of them, Dad. Wanna smell my breath?”
“No, thanks.”
Why not? Sounded like a great idea to me. I sidled over to Charlie.

Good morning, y’all! Mom’s brushing her teeth right now! She’ll be leaving for work in a couple minutes, so I’m going to dash this off before she turns off the computer.
Wolfie: Under “Listen” there should be a little oval with a speaker and a sideways triangle — that’s what I was referring to as an arrow. If you click on that triangle you should be able to hear the song, at least I could on my computer. If you don’t have that, I’m not sure what else to do.
Gotta run! BBL
8:19 am on March 23rd, 2011
Okay…why are we on teeth? Number 2….how many are we getting? Let’s see….how many teeth are there in the human mouth? In the canine or cat mouth? There are four canine teeth in the human mouth. What’s with that as Chet would say.
Astrid, Astrid, Astrid, Astrid………

Kirby -I finally got itbto work! it is absolutely beautiful!
8:55 am on March 23rd, 2011
Kirby: The handbell and flute music is beautiful. Thank you for posting the link.
9:27 am on March 23rd, 2011
Good morning. Big wind and rain storms here last night. Little bit of hail too. Doesn’t look like a lot of damage out there. The garbage can that Barb set out last night has blown across the road, and half of the paper debris has scattered across the farmer’s field.
Barb’s daughter, Kelly, called yesterday, and said they will plan a visit next week, due to Spring Break. Oh boy, that means Joe and Gus will come too! I can’t wait!
9:48 am on March 23rd, 2011
Kirby: what a delightful way to start the morning.
What is it about dogs smelling humans breath?
Hmm. Can they tell what I had for dinner even if I’ve brushed my teeth twice since then?
Maybe it’s like Chet wonders . . . seeing around corners. Why, if he can smell cake around the corner why should have have to see it?
Hmmm. Too much pondering.
Good morning all!
9:50 am on March 23rd, 2011
I know when Zoë comes back down she will thank you for your support. Snicker.
She thanked the doctor this morning for calling on Sunday.
She woke me up REALLY EARLY because she thought it was 8.
Going to be an interesting day!
I thank you all for your support . . .
9:52 am on March 23rd, 2011
Dead!…One of our all time favorite actresses died today….sob!sob!sob!…Elizabeth Taylor died from congestive heart failure….sob!sob!sob! …It is a very sad day indeed….sniff!
10:47 am on March 23rd, 2011
Melanie: I hope your day isn’t too interesting.
Liz Taylor was 79. For some reason it was a shock to see the headline.
There is a new movie coming out, Margin Call, with Jeremy Irons and Kevin Spacey. Rio loves Kevin; I’ve loved Jeremy Irons ever since the tv series Brideshead Revisited.
11:03 am on March 23rd, 2011
Spacey!… I hadn’t heard of this movie Margin Call…snort!….From the title it sounds very financially oriented. When does it come out anyways?….sniff!
Irons! ….My friend has been freaked out by Jeremy Irons ever since she saw that movie where he plays identical twins. I think it was called Dead Ringers….snort!
11:23 am on March 23rd, 2011
Rio: I’m going to put the link to the NYTimes article that includes the review of Margin Call in the next post (in case of moderation). It says that Spacey gives one of his best performances in years. Stanley Tucci and Paul Bettany are in it as well. I think that the release date is October of this year.

I wonder if Margin Call will have tin futures in it!
Melanie, we are liking our new book.
11:35 am on March 23rd, 2011
B&M: Margin Call will probably include both tin futures and teeth.
11:48 am on March 23rd, 2011
Gah!… That movie is about the 2008 financial crisis….grunt!… I don’t know if we here are ready to relive that whole thing again….sniff!…2008 was a really bad year for us. Our finances were a mess. She says we are still recovering and that is also the reason for the Big Decision….snort!
11:56 am on March 23rd, 2011
Spence is trying to bring Lois back, isn’t he?
Kirby, We got the link to the song to work this morning. That is simply beautiful. Thanks for all the hard work that went to getting it to us. Can we do requests? Could they do “North to Alaska” next?
We agree, Rio. It is very sad that Elizabeth Taylor died, and as Stover said. it was a shock to see the headline. She had several close calls in her life, but always pulled through.
12:00 pm on March 23rd, 2011
SH: LOL! You have a one-track mind.
12:10 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Alaska!….heh!snort!heh!…Imagine the congregation’s reaction if all the Bell Ringers stood up and knocked out North to Alaska one Sunday morning…heh!
12:13 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Rio, We understand about 2008, Barb is finally back to where she was before the whole disaster started. Not sure if we want to watch a movie about it.
Are you giving hints about the big “D”? If it is financially related, it must involve a move or job change or both. That last comment sort of ruled out a new sibling for you. Barb is a nosey parker, if you haven’t noticed.
Sad about Liz, but she has come close to death many times, even as a younger woman. Barb thinks she had a trach. for pneunomia when she was in her 30’s. We thought she was older than 79.
1:38 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Still catching up from yesterday…Kirby T-That last link worked for us too. Thank you!
S.Husky-Who is Lois? Maggie! About that Norwegian Salmon from yesterday-it’s our favorite! Barb-hearing about someone throwing out tomatoes was shocking!
Melanie-Glad to hear Zoe is feeling better. Nana has been reading & enjoying Dan’s book. She just finished the second chapter.
B! Yes, it was a shock to us to hear of Liz Taylor’s death. Thank you for the link to Margin Call review.
Rio. You mentioned “The Good Wife” – does that grunt mean you don’t like it? It’s one of our favorites. Going in a few to watch the last episode of The Event, which I know we agree on at least.
Hello to Wolfie, Dawson and everyone else. Have a wonderful day!
1:40 pm on March 23rd, 2011
My guess is that Rio’s friend is moving in with her mother or her mother is moving in with them.
2:13 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Spirit Dog, Lois, if she really exists, wrote an entire article on how many times teeth were mentioned in one of Chet’s books. Chet posted it one day a long time ago on his blog. It was unbelievably boring…you would have to read it to really understand that statement. I fell asleep while reading it.
Around that time, Spence got on a kick of writing about tin futures…day after day, just to hear us gripe about that subject and how boring it was. Most of us decided that tin futures were more interesting than teeth.
And furthermore, I got in trouble with mom for being rude about Lois.
2:41 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Stover!….Someone here has been agonizing over this for the past 8 months….grunt!… But finally she sees that it is the right thing to do, family-wise, financially-wise and allergy-wise….sniff!…Her mother is pretty old and tries to do too much on her own…snort!…My friend worries about her being alone all the time. Our house isn’t very big, but her mother’s house is really large and it’s paid for. We will have a whole finished basement to go hide in when things get dicey or when we just want to be alone…sniff! … I’ve been assured that we will be taking our TV and our old crap computer will work there too….gruff! …So once my house is ready to be put up for sale, we will move over there so that everything stays nice and clean …snort! …She thinks she can even save money while the house is on the market. This probably won’t happen for another month or so though…sniff!
2:50 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Bee, Now that you say that, I think your guess is a good one. We second that – we think Rio and friend will be combining households with Mom.
2:55 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Gah!…Why doesn’t anyone ever Refresh before they post?…sniff!
2:57 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Well, you can see that we posted 9 minutes after Rio. What happened is that we got an interruption halfway thru writing, and by the time we posted, Rio had already answered. At least our guess was right!
3:10 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Don’t Gah at me! I did refresh before I started to post, it just took a long time before I sent it.
Melanie, how is everyone at your place today?
3:19 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Rebecca from Snowhook Kennel posted this on Facebook a few minutes ago:
“‘Again next year?’ I asked AJ as we passed each other while tending to the dogs in the dog lot in Nome. As we bedded down the nine dogs that had just run from Willow to Nome, with a contented but exhausted smile he simply said, “Yes. Next year.”
The saving and fund raising for the 2012 entrance fee to be paid in June has begun…”
3:25 pm on March 23rd, 2011
I have a feeling that we will be having a much grumpier Rio in future….if you can believe that possible.
SH: I’m laughing over your explanation which is totally correct.
3:52 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Bee, We are concerned too, that Rio will be grumpier. Rio, didn’t you say your friend is having second thoughts about the decision?
Siber, We sort of feel sorry for Lois, we were all so mean (in a half joking way) that she never posted again. But you are right – she was boring!
4:07 pm on March 23rd, 2011
At least this is von thing that you can say about Natasha – she is NEVER boring.
Isn’t that right my darling leetle Rio, my grumpy leetle blintz?
4:09 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Thanks for the news from Snowhook, Stover. That is really exciting that AJ wants to do it again. I’m sure mom will let me make a little donation to them.
Rio, these kind of decisions are always difficult, but I’m sure your friend made a good, intelligent decision about the move. It
will help all of you out.
4:28 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Rio, The advantage is that it will help financially. You just have to make sure you can have some kind of private space for some alone time. Barb says she would have a hard time living with her son or daughter, even tho she loves them, unless she had hew own separate quarters or space.
4:36 pm on March 23rd, 2011
I wanted to state for the record that I, Wolfie, liked Lois and I did not find her boring.
I just wonder if Lois was a fictional character? Admin? Did you want to make any disclosures?
4:42 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Wolfie, you are a great guy, but you are a minority of one.
I’ve never been sure that Lois was a real person either. It might be for the best if she was a figment of someone’s imagination.
Borzoi, You are never boring.
5:06 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Sniffle!… I’m not grumpy. This is just my natural state of being….snort! …I never bite, I just growl a lot…sniff!
5:57 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Barb thinks Lois was a real live person. She was probably Admin’s dental hygienist.
Melanie has not been heard from since this morning. Hope her day is going smoothly!
6:40 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Total agreement here about Lois, teeth, tin futures and the Borzoi!
Getting ready for a snow storm. The weather people are not taking any chances 1 inch to 8 inches. rolling eyes.
It been a day. I’ll put it that way. Was able to get things done but not everything I wanted. I guess that’s normal . . .
6:50 pm on March 23rd, 2011
HI EVERYONE!! Our lives have been so busy for the past couple of days. But Mama promises we can check in here and there tonight in between other work she has to do.
We are kind of glad we missed the whole Lois series. Our teeth are just fine, thank you, cuz we chew bones! Don’t understand why you humans don’t try it.
So, should the blog adopt Snowhook for next year and try to help them raise the money to run the Iditarod? Maybe if we do, they’ll let Siber and the Howlers come along.
Ok, now Mama wants to work – we’ll be back later.
7:29 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Rio got us in the mood, so we are going to watch an old movie tonight. Stand By Me, from 1986. Most the young male actors went on to be pretty famous. Think it had quite a following, but we have never seen it before.
7:33 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Bear!… We here do watch The Good Wife. But it is annoying as to how long it takes to get a new episode sometimes….grunt!…Actually, we are watching the newest (finally) right now, before our walk….sniff!…The wind quit and now I will be forced to go…grump!
Tupper!… I was thinking the same thing about Snowhook Kennels, meaning helping them get into the next race….sniff!….But it’s always tricky asking people to donate money. So I was trying to think of ways, like you said, we could raise money and donate it in the name of Chet’s Blog and the Plunderers, or some something to that effect…sniff!…Because I’ve been completely distracted with the whole “Selling and Moving” idea that she came up with and committed too, I’ve been distracted….snort!….So maybe if we all put our noggins together we can come up with a Mission Plan to Support the Snowhook Kennels so Whitey’s team can run in the Iditarod next year!….Woooooo
7:35 pm on March 23rd, 2011
MagPie!…. That movie, Stand By Me is very excellent indeed!…snort!… You will see a very young Kiefer Sutherland whom my friend has been in love with for most of her life now…grunt!… She even got to talk to him and totally embarrass herself in front of him one time…heh!
7:43 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Oh, Rio. There was the cutest little pug on Good Morning America today. We don’t usually watch (too many commercials!!!) but Mom was on the treadmill early. And the little pug was on a doggie treadmill. He looked so bewildered and so cuddly.
Your friend is making a wise choice to make a move while times are calm, or at least, not an emergency situation. And maybe you’ll have fewer sycamore trees so fewer allergic reactions?
Hope everyone had a good and safe day. I’m a minority of two with Wolfie. I thought the Lois post was funny. Anyone remember Marathon Man, the movie?
7:43 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Stand By Me is based on a Stephen King novel right? The one with the leeches……
7:45 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Was Marathon Man with Dustin Hoffman? And wasn’t a dentist’s drill involved?
7:45 pm on March 23rd, 2011
When it says, “He laughed,” who is the ‘he?’ Is it Bernie or Charlie? Sorry, but that part confuses us.
7:57 pm on March 23rd, 2011
I was also thinking of someway to support Snowhook. And yes, it’s difficult to figure out the money situation, since some of us have jobs, some are retired, some are without jobs, some are stay at home dudes and then some of us are just tired.
There is also the lurker situation. Might some lurkers also want to contribute under the Chet “flag”?
What if (and remember I’m really tired so I hope this makes sense) we set up something with Snowhook that people can mention they want to contribute under Chet’s “flag”, and it gets lumped together.
We might want to Chet check this too. snicker
Okay from the monetary lingo of “lumped” I see that it is time to hit the hay.
Tomorrow morning both Zoë and I have doc appointments down the hill. We’ll be going unless we get really hit with snow.
TTFN
8:05 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Yes, Stand By Me is based on a Stephen King Novella (if that is the correct word for a short novel). Mom liked both the novella and the movie. It is not typical Stephen King.
Yes, Marathon Man was Dustin Hoffman and a dentist’s drill.
Rio, Bluecat made an excellent point…that your friend has made this decision to move in with her mom when it is a non-emergency situtaion. I have read that most decisions that we make to help out our aging parents are made when it is an emergency and that, of course, just makes it more difficult on everyone involved.
Lexi and Hi Lexi!!! I am not sure myself who laughed. Anyone? Stover?
8:07 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Wha!?….Who the hell is Lexi and Skylah?…snort!… Their website says they are “Chet The Dog”….heh!snort!heh!….Just kidding. Hi Lil Lexi, where have you been all this time?…sniff! …Well I am harnessed up and ready to be pulled along on a dreadful Walk….grump!….The only thing I have to look forward to is a Rockies Exhibition game with Seattle at 7:30 mountain time…gruff! woooooof!!!
8:14 pm on March 23rd, 2011
I’d say that the “he” in “he laughed” refers to Charlie. He’s laughing because he tried to get away with something but didn’t. If it were Bernie it would have been, “I didn’t hear any spitting.” Bernie laughed……
8:24 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Hello Lexi and Skylah: 🙂 I’m with B.Stover. It’s Charlie who laughed.
I jumped the gun. I already sent a donation out to Snowhook. I signed my name then wrote “A Plunderer”.
8:24 pm on March 23rd, 2011
I am all for us trying to help out Snowhook!!! I should add, those of us that are interested in doing so. I don’t know how to go about it, but Melanie may have started us in the right direction. I think it would give Snowhook a big morale boost and it wouldn’t have to be a fortune. Any amount would help.
8:38 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Thanks, guys. That clarified things nicely.
🙂 🙁 😛 😀 😐
8:48 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Hi Lexi and S.
Yes, I’d donate to Snowhook.
9:05 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Good evening, y’all! No snow in our forecast, but I just about got blown away today! Lots and lots of wind. When Mom went to lunch, a table and umbrella on the outside patio blew over, and a guy came in a few minutes later with the umbrella, which had broken off the table and blown clear across the parking lot!
SiberH: When Mom left the restaurant, she noticed the car next to her had an Alaskan license plate. Wow! From Alaska to South Carolina — that’s quite a drive!!! Maybe on the way back home they can stop and pick you up so you can take a vacation. Oh, wait. Mom forgot to write down their plate number, so we won’t be able to track them down. 🙁
9:09 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Cough!….sneeze!wheeze!gasp!…. I’m back from my walk….choke!… I even got to say hello to my neighbor, Eddy, the wiry haired wiener schnitzel guy…heh!…Usually he’s not very friendly but tonight he was for some reason…sniff!
Kirby!… I think all that windy wind we had here for the last two days finally made it to your neck of the woods…heh!….Enjoy! At least you don’t have fires to go with it…grunt!
9:14 pm on March 23rd, 2011
We are all for the idea of donating directly to Snowhook, and making a notation that it is on behalf of the Plunderers.
But we do think that Snowhook should be advised. Siber – did you have any “real” contact with the folks at Snowhook? We know that a lot of you were facebooking with them, but have you had any back and forth conversations with them so that they would know who you (and we) are?
If not, maybe someone can do that and we can figure out with them how best to do this. They might want to set up a bank account at a local bank specifically for donations. If so, they could post that on their facebook, and we could send our individual contributions there. That way, no one need feel like their contribution wasn’t as good as someone else’s, since the only people who will see the amounts are the tellers in the bank, and we never could figure out why they are called “tellers” when they won’t tell anything about accounts!
Snowhook will have some income, Plunderers will have warm hearts and good feelings, and maybe Spence can convince Admin to kick in a little something extra???
Heck, we’re great at supporting each other – maybe we can branch out and support others too.
9:19 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Hi there Lil Lexi. Thanks for the daily dose of Bobs.
Dear Rio’s friend, I have decided to stay in Minneapolis to help take care of Mom and Dad so they can keep staying in their home. I am only doing it until the fall when Dawson will retire. Then she plans on coming down here to do most of the work. I will get a few months at the farm if it works out and then will be back for the winter job, but Dawson says she is here for as long as it takes.
Even though it was only for a few months it took a long time to officially decide. Strange isn’t it? I knew I was going to do it but I didn’t want to say it out loud for quite a while.
Once I told everyone the decision it was a relief.
It sounds like a smart thing for you to do now when there is no pressure. If we each need a break we can get together and have a blog party. I will bring Alice and Abbie if you bring Rio.
I am in on the Snowhook thingy.
9:22 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Oh, and I forgot.
I absolutely positively hated Marathon Man. And I do not mind going to my dentist at all. However that torture scene was way to graphic for me.
Later on I felt the same way about the end of Bonnie and Clyde. Since then I won’t go to a movie with blood or graphic violence. No slashing, raping, gore of any sort.
Makes me feel ishy inside for weeks.
Mr.Staff has a difficult time finding movies that I will go to sometimes.
9:28 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Whitey!… I know there is a PayPal thing on their blog….sniff!… I will write a note to them tomorrow or soonish on the blog to tell them what we have in mind, but if someone also wants to do the facebookie thing that would be good to….snort!… I will ask their advice on what is the easiest and best way, but also tell them that we want the donations to be from The Plunderers on Chet The Dog’s Blog. …wheeze!…They may have a suggestion about how to do this to keep track. I for one want to know how much moolah we as a group can raise for them by next year…grunt!… Is this a bad thing??…sniff!
9:30 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Rio: How close is your house to your friend’s mother’s house? Is it far enough away that the sycamore trees won’t bother her anymore? Will it make the trip to the busy/not-so-busy place any easier? I think you guys are doing a great thing! Now your friend won’t have to worry about her mom so much, and she can breathe a financial sigh of relief. You just have to make sure they don’t revert to a mother/kid relationship — she’s an adult and she has to act and be treated like one, so make sure you keep them in line!
Before I came along, Mom and my boy moved back in with her parents while Dad was going to an Army school and moving to Korea. Altogether they were there for about six months until they could join Dad. My girl was even born while they were there! Mom and my boy shared one room, and when my girl came along her crib was in the living room. (It was a three-bedroom house, but Mom’s little brother — who was born while Mom was in high school — was in the other bedroom.) It was cramped quarters, and sometimes Uncle Michael was a little miffed at having to share his house after being the “only kid” for so long, but it worked out pretty well. Mom tried to help out as much as possible — getting dinner ready while Grandma and Grandpa were working and stuff like that. She didn’t want to feel like she was just taking advantage of them. Luckily, Mom and Grandma get along pretty well, so it wasn’t horrible or anything!
9:36 pm on March 23rd, 2011
T&G: Teller (noun) is derived from the verb “tell” which is derived from the Old English tellan–to relate or count.
I will not set up a PayPal account. I would send a check.
9:59 pm on March 23rd, 2011
I wonder how Liz’s exhibit is going.
Good night all.
10:00 pm on March 23rd, 2011
We are back from watching the movie. Even though it is 25 years old, it was still entertaining. The reason it has a R rating is language. These 4 boys are supposed to be 12 or 13 and they talk like boys that age do. Every other word is swearing and name calling. Some of it was quite funny and some moments were very touching. Rob Reiner directed, and in addition to Kiefer, Richard Dreyfuss, John Cusack, Cory Feldman, Jerry O’Connell, River Phoenix, and Wil Wheaton are also in it. Definitely 90 minutes well spent.
10:01 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Stover!… I’m not keen on the whole Pay Pal thing either for some reason….snuff!…I’m hoping there is a better way…grunt!
Rockies!….The game is on and some of the best players are playing tonight!…Woooo!… Top of the 2nd and no score so far…snort! …It looks like a beautiful night down there in the Cactus League…heh!….Oooer! Our catcher just took a hard hit where there was no padding…gasp!
10:04 pm on March 23rd, 2011
I won’t set up a Pay Pal account either, but I would send a check.
T&G, to sort of answer your question…no, I have not been in direct contact with Snowhook. I do not go to Facebook.
Snowhook does know about this blog and Chet’s books. Spence wished them a good race on their blog and Rio and some of the other plunderers told Snowhook a little bit about us.
Rio, it should be possible to know how much we as a group donated without knowing how much each individual gave.
I think Snowhook is more likely to know who we are if we describe ourselves as being members of Chet the Dog’s Blog rather than a plunderer. Just an idea…at least for now.
10:05 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Lexi!…. Is it just me or has Lil Lexi grown up to be a very boring little thing…heh!…Now that she has finally learned how to write in complete sentences, I want the old Lil Lexi back….grunt!…I guess all parents feel that way when their kids become teens…sniffle! sad!
10:08 pm on March 23rd, 2011
I am making another post for this comment because I don’t know if it will get through moderation. For what it is worth:
Wells Fargo in Alaska is a big sponsor of the Iditarod.
10:08 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Oh Professor Bee – we know…we were just kidding.
Rio – we would love to know too how much the Plunderers can generate. It would be fun to watch the race next year with “our” team running!
And our Mama thinks you are doing the right thing too. She moved here to take care of her mama and dad, and though her mama crossed the Rainbow Bridge and her dad can make her VERY crazy on any given day, she knows she did the right thing. She and her mama had some joyous times (even tho there were some bad times too) and her dad tells people that he can enjoy life ’cause he knows that he has someone to talk to and listen to and worry about and care about and care for. Of course, they do live on different floors in the house, which is why our Mama says her dad is still in one piece….this has been one of the drive-her-crazy days…tee hee.
10:11 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Crazy!…That crazy factor has been a serious consideration regarding this whole thing….snuff!…Her mother can drive her crazy pretty quickly, but I think the both of us can put it all in perspective and just go downstairs when we have to once we are really over there…huffle!
10:14 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Top Chef, Rio! Are you watching it? It’s down to three now!!!
10:15 pm on March 23rd, 2011
So – you vant raise money for the Snowhook. Vhy you don’t puppynap the beautiful Ellie, dye her red like the Tibitan Mastif doggie, and sell her to highest bidder?
Ellie is smart doggie – she vill escape and come home to her Zoe. Or Franklin and Mac vill go get her.
See – easy money.

Rio – does your friend’s mama like YOU? It would be pretty awful if you all didn’t get along. Or is she going to spoil you rotten? (Or is it too late for that? tee hee)

I’m definitely in on the Snowhook thing as well. I think on their blog page there was an address to send checks, so that is definitely doable as well. I’m sure they would welcome the opportunity to give recognition to the Plunderers from Chet’s Blog if we ask them. I think Rio is a good choice to do that, since he posted on their blog a lot. Wookie

Staff!… My friend said to tell you that today when she let me talk about it with everyone, she felt a lot better about it too…snort!… Now the difficult part. Trying to sell a home that has lost tons of value because of greedy freakin’ bankers and stock brokers and who ever else falls into the big financial rip-off of the American people…grump!…She just hopes she doesn’t loose too much money if she can even sell it. The option of renting it just gives her nightmares ….grump!

Rio’s friend and Staff, I know you are doing the right thing. You have all our love and support and that goes for T&G’s mom, Dawson, and Melanie, too.
In the long run, you won’t be sorry and you will know that you made the right decision. In the short run, you may have some difficult times, but it will all work out.

Siber – we saw the presentation when John Baker won the race and were SHOCKED that W.F. was such a big sponsor – they don’t usually do anything nice for anyone! oops – did we say that out loud?

Kirby!… On Demand was showing Top Chef, but now it has dropped off the selections altogether. Its been weeks since we’ve seen a new show….grunt!…We are torn between waiting to see it On Demand will finally show it again or just keep watching the Rockies game…heh!…Guess which one will probably win?…sniff!
Wookie!…Nice to see you pal! Hope you are feeling tip-top tonight!…gruff!
10:27 pm on March 23rd, 2011
W.F.!…Who is that anyways?…grunt!

Thanks B for asking, the exhibition is going well. We had good feedback on the opening night, a very big crowd and sold two paintings each. Hopefully some of the big crowd will return and snap up some of the artworks that are left (we had 45 in total, so there are many available!)
Sorry I’ve been a lurker lately – I’m only just catching up with grocery shopping and cleaning the house and doing the laundry.

Rio, WF stands for Wells Fargo. They have sponsored the Iditarod through thick and thin.

Liz!…. Your show lasts into April, right?…snort!… I bet you will sell a lot more stuff by the end of it. Now if you had done a series of sketches of me, a “Study In Pug” if you will…sniff!… I bet your sales would be double of what they are now…heh!

Rio: I don’t know what the Rockies are doing right now, but Top Chef is being sneaky. Twists and turns around every corner!!!
10:49 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Oh Rio you funny pug you. Always trying to get a picture made of your pugly self.
We are going to bed now. Late again drat it all.
10:50 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Chefs!….Kirby, why are you tormenting me this way?…huffle!… You know how much I love Top Chef…sniff!… Plotting me against my Team! We may have to take a peek at those Chefs during commercials which is Right Now!… yeep!
10:55 pm on March 23rd, 2011
You all have a ways to go to get to the Dark Side.
I’ll say good night now and GO ROCKIES!!!
10:55 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Rio, I called in at an art gallery up towards Sydney last weekend and there was a pug in the main gallery – he lives there and gets lots of attention from passersby. His bed was surrounded by stuffed toys – is that a pug thing particularly? Cricket doesn’t have any…
Is renting your place out really a bad option? It always seems good to hang onto real estate when you’re in the market, even if the market is depressed. (Especially if the market is depressed.)
11:01 pm on March 23rd, 2011
LizF: Glad the exhibition is going well and you each sold two paintings. There is room for some improvement there.
Plunderers: I am sure that Snowhook Kennels would keep track of Chet’s Plunderers donations if we asked them and without disclosing individual contributions but just a total. There was a list of the 2011 Mushers and their Sponsors. Some of the mushers have no sponsors at all, like Gerald Sousa whose team just beat Snowhooks and many others.

Hi Lexi! How is my darling girl?
Liz, I hope you sell some more paintings. I hope you’ll be able to post more of your work. I would love to see it.
Rio, your friend’s plan makes good sense. I hope it’s a lot closer to the busy place. Those winter commutes sound scary.
We are in the middle of another big storm.
I too like the idea of supporting Snowhook Kennel. It would ne fun to sponsor a checkpoint or even a doggie. Pondering……
11:09 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Liz!… Pugs live to be The Center of Attention, but once we get it we act like we don’t care…heh! …I can’t imagine my life without my baseball toys surrounding me every day and night in my bed…snort!…Cricket doesn’t know what she is missing, poor lassie…sniff!
Renting!… I think she is concerned about getting good renters if she has to go that route. Bad renters who tear up and destroy things are what her nightmares are made of…snort!…Her brother told us he has some iron clad contracts for renting property because he has done this thing a lot and actually is now renting a house to people with outstanding references….grunt!…You are right about hanging onto property, but that also means being under a Mortgage. That’s the scary thing….yeep!
11:16 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Wolfie: I too like the idea of sponsoring a checkpoint or a doggie and with all of us together, I think it is very doable.
11:30 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Dawson: I’m not sure where to look for this information, but how much does it cost to sponsor a checkpoint or dog?
11:36 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Snowhook!… I think if the ones who can do it conscientiously donate all year long when they can, we will really impact Snowhooks funding!….snort!… At least I hope this is what happens. We know that these two young people love love love their guys….snuff!… When Whitey went missing, AJ looked for him non-stop! He had to abandon the race and everything that went into getting him in the race for the first time!…wuffle!…That to me says “Our Guys Come First” to them no matter what….grunt!….This is something we here will be supporting as much as we can over this next year….sniffle!
Kirby!…You lead me astray on the Top Chef thing. Its not on here tonight!…grunt!
11:39 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Google Snowhook Kennels and it is on the right hand side.
On Their post to Chet’s blog, Wookie and Melanie tell them that we are Chet’s Plunderers and on facebook right now they are talking about fundraising for next year.
11:44 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Rio: Sorry, we don’t get that On Demand thing here. We just have regular cable, and we watch Top Chef on the Bravo channel. Maybe yours is on a different night? It seems strange they would drop it in the middle of the season!
11:55 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Snowhook Kennel: I read the stories of their doggies and the love they feel for the dogs really shines through. Especially Howard’s story. Tells you where the dogs came from, how they were named, their personalities and more. If you feel like a good cry, read the in memories of section.
Going to hit the sack.
11:56 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Goodnight my dear Rio – you grumbling, vuffeling little bundle of wrinkles. Natasha lufs you.
11:57 pm on March 23rd, 2011
Kirby!….Well, we don’t get Bravo, so maybe On Demand realized they were offering shows to us low-lives who weren’t paying for them to begin with and took them away.….drat!…Weird thing is we have seen that show on a channel we do get, but never watched it because of On Demand…grunt!…Maybe there is still a slim chance of seeing the whole season.
Bed!…We would love to stay up and watch the whole game, but not tonight!…cough!…Must get lots of sleep!…snort! …Goodnight all! Goodnight Whitey!…heh!
12:01 am on March 24th, 2011
Natasha!….heh!snort!fart!…oops!…I’m off to my warm soft bed with all my baseball toys just where I want them….snuffle!
12:09 am on March 24th, 2011
Deadwood – is that one of the shows you guys like?
I’m hoping to post pics of the show soon – a friend who’s a photographer took some beautiful photos. I’m thinking of getting him to do some portraits of me and Cricket!
Yes, you must be right about the centre of attention thing – the art gallery pug just laid there ignoring all the pats he was getting, snuffling at the occasional child. Claude, the pug puppy next door, hasn’t reached that stage yet – he still goes berserko if you say hello to him.
Thank you for all the positive wishes about selling paintings!
Mortgages – aye, there’s the rub. But my motto would be ‘never give up the independence of a house of one’s own’…
Goodnight!
12:10 am on March 24th, 2011
A-thought!… Is Whitey tax deductible?…snort!
12:13 am on March 24th, 2011
Aaarrrgggghhhh! We’ve come to the dark side. Just as well that it’s time for us to say Goodnight, Gracie.
Goodnight Gracie!
Sweet dreams, y’all!!!
