Good morning! Nice story about the Member of the Nation who can now run, thanks to modern technology. Also, good video from Diane. Thanks.

Mom is at her faraway office today. She said it is the very last time she must leave us until sometime next year! Wooo!!! Hoooo!

I’m having a cookie for breakfast.

    Billy’s Buddy: I didn’t receive pretzels yesterday.

Bee, if you don’t get your pretzels today I will have today, I will have to practice my tracking skills. I also had a cookie for breakfast!

    Good morning all.

Barb – in the southwest, breakfast often has beans. In fact lunch and dinner often have beans. The thing we could never understand is how people can eat cold pizza for breakfast. Yuck.
Now cookies on the other hand….the breakfast of Champions!

I had cold sausage and mushroom pizza for breakfast last week, along with cold milk. It was delish! Sorry, T and G.

Now this is funny. Remember the mutant squash from this summer? We still have some of them. We were told to let them “mellow” for a couple of months, so we have had them setting on our protected breezeway. The back door of the breezeway is usually left open to accommodate our habit of running in and out. This morning, we found that someone thought the squash was mellow enough

And just remember how big a Hubbard squash is….

Love beans for lunch or dinner, but don’t recall having them for breakfast. Haven’t had cold pizza in years.

We will look forward to the pretzels tomorrow.

Hoping to not get sick for Christmas. Every time I turn around I am exposed to someone else who is sick. Doesn’t seem to matter whether they have had flu shots or not!

Up on our soapbox for a minute. My nepew in Texas just got a puppy for Christmas. A silver lab that they paid $1200 for. They are having trouble with it crying all night and having no potty control. Barb just found out that the breeder gave her to them at 6 weeks! In Illinois that is illegal, but not in Texas. The period of time from 5-9 weeks is really important to puppies for learing bite control and social skills from mama and litter mates. This puppy only had 1 set of shots and is still in the fear stage. She could end up dog aggressive and will most probably have nipping issues. Just what they need with an 18 month old toddler and another baby due in May. Why didn’t they research this? And even tho not illegal in Texas, it is still unethical on the breeder’s part. And to top it off, with only 1 set of shots the puppy is more suseptible to parvo and diastemper. Grrrr! I would like to grab someone by the pant leg.

Great article about advances in technology for dogs, kats, and humans.
We are very happy the dog can now run.

Mom used to eat cold pizza for breakfast when she was a teenager but the thought of doing it now makes her ill. She does eat beans in breakfast burritos sometimes. Doesn’t the rest of the country do this?

I love the way the Hot-Shot eats. He is one of my heroes.

BSD and Masquers–I’m glad you liked it. I teared up too…
Everyone–Not that anyone asked, but this a.m. I had 17 types of beans (soup with celery heart and carrots and onions) AND cookies. (You never know when famine will strike.) This should be good if I actually make it to the gym today.
B, M and L–Can you get the breeder’s name and report him/her to whatever professional organization is relevant? More immediately, why not post something on Yelp?

I hope it was a racoon that ate the squash and not a bear!
We still have one butternut squash from our garden. But it is inside.

Loved the video about the 3D printer. And Diane, your video from last night made me cry. I have seen some of them before but not all of them and not all at once.

Rio, I am proud every time I see your tree with it’s pillow decor. I still have not heard who bought the cat pillow so it is sitting in it’s box waiting for an address. Was it someone on the blog? Will someone confess?

B,M,&L: Mom got her first puppy, Boris at only 6 weeks (if that). He ended up being a perfect dog, and the only Sibe she could ever trust off-leash. Not to say the breeder was not unethical, but there is hope the puppy will be fine, perhaps even more bonded to his adopted family than most.

Dawson’s eggs do sound good. I just don’t ever have a breakfast burrito. If I did, the beans would be fine.

Diane, I don’t think there is anyone to report to, because by state law in Texas, it is legal to place a puppy at 6 weeks. They are not breaking laws, just ethical practice.

Howlers, When you got Boris years ago it was more common practice to separate puppies early. Breeders didn’t know as much about what puppies learn from their mamas and littermates. Not so anymore. I am not as worried about bonding, as I am other bad behaviors like bitting, that will be especially hard with a big dog and little kids. There is just a bigger chance that this poor puppy will end up getting rehomed due to bad behavior, thru no fault of her own!

Thank Dog Mom is home. Our regular mailman must be on vacation, because a replacement showed up. Rather than dropping off a package in the “ups stall” like our normal mailman and UPS and Fedex drivers, this guy left a long box right outside my door where I keep watch all day. I have been watching, and worrying about that box all the livelong day. Turns out it was a wooden sign, with wording that I can’t read. Mom is hanging it on our dark wood kitchen wall, where it looks pretty cool, because it has an antiquey light-colored finish. The words have something to do with me I think, because Mom keeps hugging me and smiling. She said something about “who needs jewelry”.

Mollypop&Loulou’s Mom: Are those gluten-free treats?

Just back from cribbage at the senior’s activity centre. I haven’t won a game since I returned home. Grump!

On a brighter note: I took 2 quilts to “show and tell” at the nurses quilting meeting. Both were quilted for fundraisers for Snowhook in past years. The one made by Staff and a couple of her cohorts got many oooohs and aaaaahs but the one paper pieced by Wookie’s Mom, and now Teddy’s Mom, took the cake! Everyone gathered around to try and figure out how it was done and started talking in quilter’s language, almost all of which went over my head. They were very impressed that I actually knew the person who could quilt like that! “Well, I’ve spoken to her only online” They read the note on the back which states that Debbie had almost all of the material for the quilt on hand in her quilting stash. They all discussed their stashes for quite awhile. It was a fun day at the quilting meeting even for a non-quilter. Thanks again to Staff and Debbie for the beautiful quilts!

For the New Mexicans on the blog. Believe it or not, several years ago a member of the Little Anita’s family migrated from Albuquerque to Northern Virginia and opened a couple of restaurants here. They are just called Anita’s here, but they bill themselves as New Mexico style Mexican food. Unfortunately, the locations are not very close to Chevy Chase so I don’t get there very often.

T & G, That is the same show as Gracepoint that we kept raving about. And we commented at the end that “we never saw it coming”.I think I guess about every main character. The American version is 10 episodes, and we were glued to the tube for every second. Bluecat recommended that we watch Broadchurch to compare, so we just ordered the first disc from Netflix and should have it for this
weekend. It is best thing we have watched on t v this year. Now it should be interesting to watch the English version, since David Tennant stars in both.
