Techies On The March

“Here’s a link to the company that supplies high-tech canine gear to the SEALS,” Admin says. “Do you think this is something Chet and Bernie would be interested in?”

“I don’t know,” says Spence. “Chet and Bernie run kind of a low-tech operation.”

What was this? Something about the Little Detective Agency? We’ve taken down lots of perps, me and Bernie, and yes, there was one name of Tek. Mirolsav Tek, in fact, who was in the truck hijacking business and is now in the breaking rocks in the hot sun business. The look on his face when he saw that the steering wheel was missing! We still have it, up on the patio wall. What a life!

Welcome Chianti and Watson.

Happy Birthday, Dad. And many, many more.

Good morning! We are like Chet and Bernie. Pretty low-tech here.

Sorry to hear about Toes crossing over, but it sounds like it was peaceful. How did he get his name? Was he a kitty with the extra toes?

T & G we saw the funniest video on Yahoo this morning. It was a video of a little Corgi running in a tight circle like he was a compass. The thing that was the most funny about it is that the caption read “Even though he is free to run on miles of farm land, this Border Collie likes to run in a little circle creating crop circles” Or something like that. Important thing is they called him a B.C.! Who writes these things?

Happy Birthday to Mr. Abrahams! Maybe you can go sailing!!

Good morning, Barb & Maggie and all y’all! Isn’t it amazing how many perps are now dressed in orange and breaking rocks? How can Bernie’s finances possibily be so bad when he and Chet have such a high success rate? Oh, yeah. Tin futures….

Gus and BooBear: We’re so sorry to hear about Toes. He was one good-looking cat. It simply can’t be a coincidence that he wanted to go outside one last time just when that Siamese kitten showed up. I’m glad your people decided to keep the kitten. Does it have a name yet? We’d love to see a photo of your new family member.

We add our birthday wishes to Spence’s Dad or Admin’s Dad or Chet’s Dad, or whoever is celebrating today!

Chet! Happy Birthday to the Dad! No techies here either, but we do try.

Dear GusBooBear: Relieved to hear when Toes went over the Bridge it was very peaceful. Thank you for the picture of him with BooBear. (Yes, would love to hear the story behind his name) And, so happy to hear you are keeping the new kitten (I knew you would) Please post a photo as soon as you can. What did you decide for a name?

Good Morning Barb&Maggie, B, Rio, Kirby and All.

WOW! That site is AWESOME! Zoë wouldn’t let me keep it up long. She said The Pack would be too interested and the answer is NO.

Bummer. That camera vest would be great!

Gus and BooBear, may you keep Toes in your hearts and make room for the new kitty like Toes did in that picture.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! Not sure who’s Dad, but does it matter?

Sorry, Melanie, no time now. Mom is shutting down the computer for her usual Monday-morning-before-she-goes-to-work errands. This time she has to buy a frame and mat for the poster she and Dad ordered yesterday — twice. She called this morning and canceled one of the orders — she hopes! Dad wants to give the framed poster to the coach on Friday or Saturday, so the boys have to get busy signing the mat. The only problem is that she has to guess on what shade of mat to buy — Dad wants a light blue (school color) mat, so Mom printed out a picture of the poster thinking she could use that to select the mat. But the backgroud of the poster is purple and it printed dark gray, so she knows she can’t trust the colors! Snort! (As a certain pug would say!)

Happy Birthday Mr. Abrahams! We hope that whereever you are it is sunny and warm so you can lay in a bright sunspot and sttttrrreettccchhh, and purr and maybe even get some catnip. Oh…wait a minute…that’s for OUR birthday…..sorry

Gus and BooBear – we still talk to Sadie Cat who was here before us. She crossed the Bridge, but she shows up now and then, especially on cuddle days. We’ll tell her to keep an eye open for Toes, and give him head butts. He does look like he was a wonderful, loving kitty, and we are very sorry for your loss.

The Corgis are pouting cuz the weather here is just rotten. Gilly can’t stand getting wet, and she would rather explode than go outside in the rain. Mama has to take her out with a big umbrella – otherwise, Gilly just sits there with her eyes crossed, determined not to piddle. (She would never disgrace herself in the house).

If they would learn to be civilized and use a litter box like we do, they wouldn’t have so many difficulties.
    Sheesh – dogs are weird!

Home!….I don’t know if my friend will come home and get me tonight or not….sniff!… Her and her mother did not get off to a good start this morning…grunt!… First words out of her mom’s mouth were nagging words, instead of a nice “Good Morning”. This put my friend in a seriously bad temper. I feel sorry for all those guys at the busy place today…heh!heh! …But now I am afraid what will happen when she comes home tonight, if she comes home. I hope she doesn’t leave me here ….sniffle! ….I do enjoy the ice cream, but that only lasts like a minute, if that….wuffle!

    Dear Gus and BooBear,
It is always sad when a friend goes over the rainbow bridge. I think the friend is glad to be there but we miss them here so much. I am glad she found a new kitten to help you and your Mom. I couldn’t help but notice that Toes looked just like Alice. Only maybe bigger. Alice is a tiny little kat.

Rio, I expect it is hard for your friend to live with someone else and especially someone else who is trying to be her mother still even though your friend has grown up. I have that problem with my father. He still needs to be in charge and it worries him that sometimes he can’t. They he gets really grouchy. Then staff gets grouchy. What a pair.

  21. Melanie

I agree Staff. It is difficult being a grownup and also considered to be about twelve!

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Toes was very special , and like we said, quite the Mama’s boy. He came with the name (he was a polydactyl with the extra toe in all four feet). Mom originally thought she would change it but it fit him perfectly. When he would get on moms lap, he would suck one of his two thumbs on his left front paw purring the whole time. That 15 lbs of cat was a big tittie baby!

We’ll post a picture of the new kitten this evening.

  25. Wookie of Chevy Chase
    2:38 pm on May 16th, 2011

Rio, you should text your friend back and just let her know how much you love her and miss her when she has to go away to that busy place. The bond that your friend and her grandma had was very special and, unfortunately, there will be times or events that will bring back all those memories and will make you friend feel sad for awhile. What you can do best is just help her realize that she is loved and cared for in the here and now, and hopefully that will help get over her sadness. It might even result in a few extra treats for you too. Wookie

Gus and BooBear, so sorry to hear about Toes. It hurts so much when someone crosses over, partly because it brings up all the other losses we suffer in this lifetime. I am glad that he had a peaceful crossing. And I am even gladder that he brought you a new kitty before he left. What a sweetheart.

GusBooBear: You can believe the wise words spoken by T&G about the Gate Keeper at Rainbow Bridge. Thank you for the story behind his unusual name. We will be looking forward to the picture of the little Siamese kitten, who was most certainly sent as a comfort to you and your family.

Rio: Dog knows it can be very difficult to live with others – especially family. I hope this is just a transition period and things will get better. I know this is a very trying time for you too, with all the tension in the home and concern for your friend. Hopefully her allergies, at least, have improved since the move.

Gus&Boo, a few years ago our next door neighbor’s wife died. The man came back from the funeral and was sitting on the porch when a cat came walking up and sat down next to him. The cat stayed with him and he named her Angel. We all are sure his wife sent Angel to be with her husband. He moved away since then and Angel, of course, went with him.

  31. Riö - The Evil Pug

Allergies!….Her allergies have improved almost 100%….snort!…That’s what makes this idea that she’s made a terrible mistake so difficult. She has her bed over here and my computer is set up, all that’s left is our TV. Once the TV is over – her and I can pretty much stay in the basement all evening to try and avoid the constant nagging….heh!

Wow, FIFTEEN pounds of cat! That’s a lot of KAT!

Went for a walk and was able to go further than I have in a long time. Still not fast and have to rest, but I figure the more distance the better. Just so that I can make it home again. snicker.

Macy: Are you anywhere near the new “In and Out”? Someone on the radio asked a woman if she liked her “Double Double”, she bit into it and burst into tears. Not sure why . . . was it the two mile backup and wait? Did she figure it wasn’t worth the money or the time? Or, was it really that good?

Of course, who can go wrong with fat and salt?

Have I used enough question marks? Should I keep going? Should I go do the laundry?

G & B We are also glad you are keeping the little one, it was meant for you to find her. No question. Now we need a name to go with tonight’s picture.

We are reading Owl’s Well That Ends Well, and it it she talks about different kinds of owls. One of the main owls is Sophie, a Barn Owl, but she also mentions that Great Horned Owls will carry off smal dogs and cats and even another Barn Owl (shudder).

Melanie, glad you are more mobile.

One of the books on goats stated that they “get a far away look in their eyes” when they are starting labor. I ask you, how can you tell? They always look a little spacy. Not like Kevin.

We have oregeno, chives, parsely and thyme in the herb garden. We haven’t planted the basil either. Have a couple of cilantro plants we started indoors. Also have dill coming up like weeds all over the place.

Thanks for asking, T&G, Crick’s pretty good at the moment. I still haven’t committed to the stem cell therapy. The thing holding me back is that the vets say they haven’t been doing the treatment long enough to say whether the effects last more than 12 months (sorry if i’m repeating myself). But the treatment’s been around for longer than that so my guess is that they’re being non-committal because the treatment actually doesn’t last for much longer than that. So she’d have to back up in a year or less for another treatment and it’s fairly … I don’t know a good word, it’s a difficult operation for her to go through. But i’m still thinking…

T&G: The cat video was hilarious!

Rio: Sounds like the night is turning out okay, and with apologies too. You did not wait in vain.

Melanie: That Cleo is definitely an aspiring Jackie O type dog! (lol)

B: You have some interesting lunches, I must say. That cheese sounds yummy; also the stilton described by T&G with the minced apricots or dried cranberries in it. Oh, Boy. Here we go again. Talking about food. Well, okay, the kitchen isn’t that far away. Hmmm….

Hey Liz! A quick hi and bye. It’s time to wind down the day. Hope everything is okay down under.

I will catch up with of you and all the stories in the am.
    Good Night All From Bear

    Dear LizF.
It is hard to decide on something like the stem cell therapy. I know we all want out friends to be with us for as long as possible but we have to weigh that with the reality that they don’t know why we are making them go through the difficult times.

NOw I really am going to get ready for bed.

    Night all

Hey Liz – Tupper and Gilly’s Mama here – I can understand your hesitation if this proceedure would be tough on Cricket. But one thing to also consider – if the treatment has been around for longer than 12 months, there probably is not yet enough empirical medical evidence along with a control group and a testing percentage for them to correlate all the data.
If you have a good relationship with your vet, I would sit him or her down for a heart to heart and see if THEY would do this to/for THEIR dog.
no matter which way you go, I know you will be doing the absolute best for Cricket. And we will be sending up good prayers for both of you.

Thank you for that T&G, you’re right and good advice too. Having had a chat to the vet is one of the things that made me hesitate! She said Cricket has so much arthritis that the case would be very challenging (she’s a different vet to the only one in town who does the treatments). Hence my demur… but if it helps … I swing this way and that…

Bunch of party poopers! Off to bed already!

    Sleep tight.

What a cute video of the cat praying!! It certainly made us laugh. Dad got a couple of cute pictures of the new kitten on his IPhone but for some reason, we can’t get them to forward to the computer so we can post them here. Dad wants to name him Ishmael (no, we aren’t Jewish) because it means “God hears”. He thinks God heard how sad our hearts were and sent the baby to us by way of Toes. It’s a good thought, but a mouthful of a name for a little bitty kitten. Quite a change from names like Toes, Stinky, EbbyCalvin, etc. We’re taking all suggestions into consideration so ideas, please?

Thank you all again for all the encouraging words. Again the plunderers know how to comfort one of their own.

    Love you guys.

That ha got to be one of the sweetest kitten faces we have ever seen. We bet Toes is just grinning and purring on the other side.
And we do like the name Ishmael. You know he will be known as Ishy. As far as other names… we know if it is a boy or girl? A little girl could be Brook from where you found her. Or how about Corrigan. As in Wrong-Way Corrigan. Just in case this little one was heading the wrong way on the Rainbow Bridge. No matter what you name him that is one lucky kitty.
And now we are heading to bed. G’night all

Gus and BooBear: as a default I call all the pups “Poopsie McPoopsalot” until I learn their name. You’re welcome to use it…

Gus and BooBear: I’m here early, catching up on last night’s blog, but I just have to say that those pictures of your new little one are adorable (for a kat)! I made the mistake of showing Mom — now she’s making all kinds of cutsey noises, and saying she simply <strong)has to get another Siamese. Our last one went over the Rainbow Bridge before I got here, but he was with Mom for 22 years!

Dad did ask Mom if she wanted another kitten last night. He said he saw one duck under an air conditioning unit at school yesterday. My guess is that if he manages to catch it, I’ll have a new brother or sister. My people are suckers for stray animals — which is a good thing for me!!!
