Tech Issues

Yesterday’s little tech flare up reminded me of this snippet from Mrs. P:

“How did they know that?”
“It just takes a little work – almost none if they’ve bought or designed an algorithm to crawl through social media twenty-four seven, three sixty-five.”
Technology was good enough in, say 1959, thought Mrs. Plansky, a thought she held firmly to herself.

We are catching up on this here blog. Our new year’s resolution is to not let Beau find out about things. Misplacing our protege at Friend’s retirement / New year’s party gave us the perfect chance to get that resolution checked off our list. We finally retrieved Howie from Rio’s place. She had melted cheese in her fur, a collar full of citations from the fire chief for setting off a stadium’s worth of fireworks in the neighbor’s backyard, a certificate to be an honorary fire fighter from the same fire chief, and a punch card for Mother Jail. We’ve never seen our protege more content.

It’s here! This year’s San Diego Humane Society’s Walk for the Animals is finally coming. Team Wonder Puppies will be participating virtually by walking our own neighborhood. We do not like driving to Liberty Station where there is no parking. I’m also not keen on Freyja being in a large crowd with a lot of dogs she doesn’t know. While Diana pawPrints and Dolly can flank her to keep her focused and reduce stress I just don’t think it’s something we are ready for yet.

But with the formation of our team, that means anyone can join from anywhere in the world and you can virtually walk your own neighborhood. Or be carried as the case may be. Or just look out the window and move your feet a little. It’s up to you.

But I invite you to join us at

While the actual event is May 6, you can walk before then or even after if the weather or your schedule doesn’t make May 6 a very good day for you. That’s the beauty of a virtual walk.

Since Dolly doesn’t live with us (yet) Team Captain Diana pawPrints and her right paw girl Freyja Grey will be walking Dolly’s neighborhood the week prior. I’ll try to get some photos of them as they follow our familiar route. I have a special custom three dog tandem lead and all three now have Julius harnesses in their own colors with name tags. We will be dressed to the 27’s (9s three times over). I even have a special Teddy the Dog shirt for the occasion.

There’s good tech and bad tech. Tech used for good and tech used for evil.

I spent a lot of time on tech this week. My Mom wants to put a plaque on Mt Soledad for my brother so we chose photos and wrote up a bio, etc. Will run it by him tonight before we submit. It all has to be online so I spent time scanning his discharge papers and taking photos of photos to crop.

Then this week the SDHumane e-mail arrived announcing this year’s Walk for the Animals on May 6. I signed up the three puppies and created their page. Riõ will recognize the book in the foreground. Once again we’ll be walking virtually, likely the prior week at Dolly’s house. Anyone can join our team from anywhere and walk at any time. Isn’t virtual wonderful?

MLaiuppa!….There will be no walking me in my neighborhood. It is all snow and ice and wind at the moment. With no end in sight….grunt!…I probably have read that book, “Unleashed”!! Been away from Rosenfelt for a while now. His books were taking on a distinct style which he never varies…so it was time to give it a rest. Even though he always makes me laugh! And I never laugh…snort!

Finally!…She was welcome for the first 2 weeks then it became evident that she decided to stay even longer…wheeze!…My friend and Mother are still trying to clean up all her glittery glitter that she felt compelled to dash about everywhere. She must have picked that habit up from Bellie, her older sister…gurgle!…The fire chief has never been more relaxed once he found out she is back in Alaska…chuffle!

Mliauppa! I love that picture. First time I’ve seen Dollie. The three seem very at ease with each other. I still love the Andy Carpenter series by David Rosenfelt. They are close to my obsession with Chet and Bernie. I have read them all. I have a few other series featuring dogs that I read. Don’t read much of the high brow stuff.
