Ta-Da!
The final, official cover for Paw and Order (can anyone guess the setting?) Coming Aug. 5 but totally available for pre-order this very minute. Spence says Chet and Bernie venture into John LeCarre territory (sort of).

Howlers mom,sit quietly and read. Dima knows he is loved.
Now NORTH TEXAS is getting snow! Annie is keeping it under surveillance. Macy has done something to her back leg and is just laying under her blanket looking pathetic.
10:21 am on February 6th, 2014
Gorgeous. And we love the white ear!
10:23 am on February 6th, 2014
Oh dear. Macy, get under the quilt with Dima. He will keep you warm
We love the cover too. It is the best so far!
10:24 am on February 6th, 2014
Howlers – we just went back and read the post on yesterday’s page 3. You know we are here praying quietly, and holding all of you in cradling paws.
10:35 am on February 6th, 2014
Love the cover. Have never read any John LeCarre books. Espionage/political themes are not our favorite genre, but of course with Chet leading the way it will be fun.
So sorry to hear about Dima. He is a brave boy and he is giving this a good fight.
Yikes! What a scary situation out there on the trail. So glad the team, AJ, and the sled came thru it unscathed.
10:54 am on February 6th, 2014
The snow is really pretty, but today is Rick’s mom’s memorial party. I hope this doesn’t affect that.
10:55 am on February 6th, 2014
I love the new cover!
Peaceful prayers for Dima.
Bull-dozing prayers for Melanie.
Wonder if Snowbella is still dancing with the giraffes.

Macy and family–thinking of you also.
Melanie–Travel carefully and safely. May this trip prove fruitful and provide information that will lead to progress.
Everyone–Have a day filled with bright blessings. Be kind to yourselves and those with you.
11:04 am on February 6th, 2014
Morning, everyone. OH: You know we are with you in spirit, love and strength.
Melanie: Safe travels and good results.
OFA: Nice cover. 🙂
Have a thoughtful Thursday.
11:21 am on February 6th, 2014
Melanie’s appointment is at noon. Thinking of her. Hope she gets some encouraging news today and can start treatment soon.
Thinking of Macy’s mom and dad today too.
11:23 am on February 6th, 2014
Greetings,
Love the cover, and thank goodness the powers that be remembered the white ear.
We have lots of snow here. Yesterday’s snow started as snow, but then turn to icy rain. Now we have crunchy snow.
People who are receiving my good thoughts and prayers—
Dima
Macy, her doggies, and her humans
BooBear, Karen and Truman
Melanie
Hoping that the Royal Mum is now tip-top.
Hoping that the Pixie is safe in her travels, and beginning to feel a bit better.
Big hugs and love to all those under the quilt, or peeking out from a corner.
11:24 am on February 6th, 2014
Great cover.
Thank you for the description of the team’s adventure AJ.
Good morning all.
11:24 am on February 6th, 2014
Yipes, we neglected to tell Macy to take it easy, Annie to just watch the snow and love to the parental units.
11:33 am on February 6th, 2014
Mr. Spock has joined the group under the quilt…
11:44 am on February 6th, 2014
Mama is officially relinquishing her corner of the quilt. So Macy, Mr. Spock, Dima and any others in need, feel free to move into the prewarmed space. She is feeling ok, although she tires easily. The shoveling party yesterday – well, she could have done without that, but a little bengay does wonders.
(she still kind of sounds like a frog/Kathleen Turner cross)
Our front yard is full of DIAMONDS!
It’s very beautiful, but we would prefer not to go out into it. Short legs, deep snow – not a great mix.
12:48 pm on February 6th, 2014
Dima, take it easy and get better. Glad your mom is able to stay home with you today.
All else, take it easy and get to feeling better. What a rough winter for all.
AJ, the Pixie said she did NOT want any more moose head stew so there is no need for you to mix it up with Mama Moose! Stay safe!
1:16 pm on February 6th, 2014
Paw & Order will be out in August! Yes!
Just read about AJ’s SCAREY ENCOUNTER with Mama & Baby Moose. YEEP!
Loving Thoughts and Prayers for all Our Friends under the Quilt.
Royal Mum: That Means You too! Easy does it until you are tip-top.
A Special Bear Hug for Brave Boy Dima.
Try not to talk too loud…our resident feline is still Recovering from Yesterday’s Celebration.
2:09 pm on February 6th, 2014
All of youse are in my heart. There are many in need.
Dima: rest and feel the love.
2:24 pm on February 6th, 2014
Hey everyone. We heard from Melanie. She is safe and sound in Providence ( the roads here are in pretty good condition)
When she called, she had had a long talk with the doc. He wanted her to do another CT scan then and there, along with a bunch more blood tests.
He said they will be starting treatment soon, and it will be very mild chemo to start.
Will let you know more as we do.
3:02 pm on February 6th, 2014
T&G thanks for updates on Melanie.
Dima dear we are thinking of you and your family today. Hugs for you all. I hope you are staying warm and getting tummies from your Mom and Nurse Meashka.
Macy be careful with that leg. sheesh. Were you trying to be a sled dog?
Rio, Alice and Abbie will be under the care of the Turtleman while we are in AK. He has promised to change their litter EVERY DAY.
AJ you had me scared with your Moose adventure. Whew!
Heading over to the fabric shop today. Going to relax and de-stress.
3:17 pm on February 6th, 2014
Staff, Are the dishes done, the beds made and your hair and makeup orderly?
3:24 pm on February 6th, 2014
T&G, thanks for updating us on Melanie.
3:45 pm on February 6th, 2014
Good news on Melanie. Let’s get this thing moving. Onward!
Speaking of…Dima just walked outside to pee (did he ever!) … A litttle sliding on the ice, but heck: Pop was sliding worse.
4:03 pm on February 6th, 2014
Thanks for the update T & G. It looks like Melanie is finally going to be able to start treatment and move in the right direction.
And Dima, good to hear that you made it outside today. Just be careful on that ice. We don’t want any slips (for your dad either).
4:34 pm on February 6th, 2014
Yeah for Melanie and Dima! Hugs to everybody./
Moose on the loose? What a story!
4:59 pm on February 6th, 2014
Most recent news. Melanie starts treatment on Feb 25.
Here’s to a complete and total cure.
5:24 pm on February 6th, 2014
T and G–another cheer for Melanie and Dima–we need some good news.
B and M–You forgot about always having powder and lipstick handy before setting out (apparently to do ANYTHING).
Are moose violent? They have such sweet noses…(OK, I suppose they’d move to protect a child moose perceived as threatened…)
6:10 pm on February 6th, 2014
MOoooOOOoossse!….Yeeeep!…Oh my dawg…I am so happy to hear the trails are looking better and our team is doing fantastic!…snort!snort!…Moose Beware!
Pipes!…Bad news about my other house…sniff!…My friend had to leave the busy-place this morning because the water pipes had froze in the basement…wheeze!…She bought a big space heater and went over there to try and thaw out the pipes. Apparently, the guys who live there do not bother to close the garage door completely which made the temperature in the basement area where some pipes are exposed rather cold….grump!…It has only been in the NEGATIVE Degrees for the last 3 damn days…growl!…She managed to thaw the pipes out and get the water flowing…sniff!….But I can say for sure, she is not a happy camper right now…gruffle!
6:11 pm on February 6th, 2014
Cover!…What is the difference between this cover art and the one he showed us the other day?…grunt!
6:15 pm on February 6th, 2014
SiberH!….I got another cryptic note from SiberH….sniff!….Seems either he or his computer or both are being held hostage in some store!…wheeze!…His paw-writing is atrocious, so it could be a Ransom Note, I am not sure…wuffle!….Who would kidnap SiberH? Or his computer for that matter?…grunt!
6:34 pm on February 6th, 2014
I AM HOME!
Thank Dog for that. Eating for the first time today. (Can anyone say that Melanie was a tad nervous?)
Burst into tears when they were taking my blood. I had to calm the tech.
Just relief from someone finally doing something. Then got in the car with Martha and got the drive heaves. Nerves . . Jezze Louise.
I am going to go to bed and then tomorrow have a Jammie day.
Thank you ALL for your support.
Dima? I love ya and will meet you and everyone else under the quilt.
But . . No moose.
6:36 pm on February 6th, 2014
Melanie!….Oh praise God!…snort!…You are home safe and sound. What a day! What a day…grunt!
6:55 pm on February 6th, 2014
Thank you, Riö.
Has not your renter ever heard of leaving the faucets dripping very s l o w l y?
I have now finished a small portion of my Chitpolte. Yummers. I have some for two more meals. Without help from the dogs.
Might check back later, if I can move, if I’m still awake . .
6:56 pm on February 6th, 2014
Melanie, thank dog your treatment will start soon. You can do this! We all love you and are with you.
6:56 pm on February 6th, 2014
I’m glad you’re home Melanie.
7:02 pm on February 6th, 2014
Water!…Dripping slowly to keep pipes from freezing during sub-zero temps…grunt!…That is an advanced class in Winter Preventative Measures apparently that they did not take in their college courses…grumble!…Common-Sense is not God-Given to all, that’s for sure….wheeze!
Fixed!…When my friend left she had the hot water tap dripping very slowly…sniff!…Now if they can manage to make it through this next night of sub-zero weather, she will breath a big sigh of relief…gasp!
7:04 pm on February 6th, 2014
Welcome home to Melanie.
Diane: moose are VERY near-sighted, stubborn and aggressive when they feel threatened. Oh, and BIG! Not a good combination 🙁 AJ was fortunate and so were the dogs.
7:07 pm on February 6th, 2014
Dear Melanie:
Cheers to starting. I always find that the waiting is the worst. Chemo is much better today that of years past – side effects are better controlled and treatment is targeted. Prayers, lots of puppy kisses and a prime spot under the quilt whenever you need it.
7:35 pm on February 6th, 2014
Cheers from here too. We are glad they are getting started. Progress, finally.
7:38 pm on February 6th, 2014
Staff Eyes Only. No one else look. Hope Staff is back from shopping & destressing.

Mom has done a down comforter, down jacket, down vests and patchwork pillows and quilt on this little beauty. Cabinet was spray painted gold when she found it. Do not believe the cabinet and machine were together originally.
7:46 pm on February 6th, 2014
Staff!…What’s Staff so stressed out about?…grunt!…She didn’t have to deal with frozen pipes or stupid people. What’s wrong with her today?…sniff!
7:56 pm on February 6th, 2014
Olympics!…Did youse guys know that Olympic coverage starts tonight before the Opening Ceremonies have occurred??…wheeze!…How very strange…grunt!
7:57 pm on February 6th, 2014
Poor Rio, and we bet you had a lousy dinner on top of it all 🙁
Relax, breathe in, breathe out and…fart!
7:58 pm on February 6th, 2014
Diane, How is Mr. Spock? And yes, moose are a big danger to mushers and sled dogs. Mom is so afraid she will run into one if/when she goes Way Up North. Or worse: one will run into her! Remember, her first Sibe was named Boris Badanöv, so those moose may still have it in for her.
7:59 pm on February 6th, 2014
HoHo!…Frozen Pizza….grump!burp!splort!
8:03 pm on February 6th, 2014
Rio, did you eat it frozen?
8:06 pm on February 6th, 2014
Howlers!…Wanted you to know that your phone-conference link brought some much needed laughter to the hot-shot this morning…heh!heh!…Does Dima drink beer? I bet that would help him feel better…sniff!…It does me…burp!
8:06 pm on February 6th, 2014
All mom let us share was smoked sausage with kidney beans we passed on the green salad but mom wouldn’t share the potatoes 🙁 She doesn’t think they are good for us.
8:06 pm on February 6th, 2014
HoHo!…No!
8:12 pm on February 6th, 2014
Sneeze!…Macy I always hurt my back leg and it always gets better…snuffle!…I bet dat your little leg will be fine after some pills wiff cheese wrapped around dem…sniff!…It helps me just fine by golly…sneeze!

HOH, That is definitely NOT the original cabinet. Barb says she remembers her mom having a machine like that back in the 60s and it was old then. It was not electric, so you used the foot treadle to operate it. The top opened up and then you lifted the machine out, so there was a sort of shelf on the side. When not in use it looked like a pretty wood cabinet with 3 drawers on each side, if memory serves correctly.
8:29 pm on February 6th, 2014
BStover: There is a google doodle today.
I’m confused. The Olympics have started before the opening ceremonies?
8:33 pm on February 6th, 2014
Dawson!…Yes.
8:33 pm on February 6th, 2014
HOH, Wow, what a lovely Singer 66 (commonly called the Red-Eye because of the decals). And the parlor cabinet is beautiful also. It doesn’t look like a Singer cabinet because they usually had the name on the irons. Yours has a beautiful floral decoration on the treadle foot. Really love it. You did a great job refinishing it too.
Jealous here.
Thanks for the photo.
8:33 pm on February 6th, 2014
HOH, I couldn’t help but peek. That is a beautiful sewing machine!
Beau, I am glad to see you on the blog. I felt terrible for you on Sunday. Hope you are doing okay.
8:33 pm on February 6th, 2014
B&M: Mom’s mom has one similar to what you describe. There were 2 drawer and 3 drawer models and a support bar in metal had “SINGER”. This cabinet was made for a sewing machine, we think just not a Singer. Mom still likes it (and sometimes uses it ’cause it is easier to set up than the Viking.
8:34 pm on February 6th, 2014
Sneeze!…I will be watching dem every night from now on till eternity…snuffle!Wooo!
8:35 pm on February 6th, 2014
Dawson, I like the GOOGLE doodle.
8:39 pm on February 6th, 2014
Mom and I just finished The Sound and the Furry…WOW! She got really nervous with the whole Iko bit, b/c we live in Florida, and monster gators…well, nuff said there. But, hey! Chet the Jet…feeling tip top! Can’t wait for the new one to hit the shelves!!
8:41 pm on February 6th, 2014
We are signing off early. Good night all.
8:47 pm on February 6th, 2014
It is finally snowing in Anchorage!
Hokie-Bear?
8:48 pm on February 6th, 2014
Staff: After a bit of research, mom’s machine is a circa 1923 Singer in the original Parlor cabinet. How ’bout that? Love things like that. The parlor cabinets didn’t stamp or mold the cast iron like the other machines. OK, enough about this.
8:50 pm on February 6th, 2014
Snow in Anchorage…Yipeee!
8:50 pm on February 6th, 2014
Olympics!…They are “un”officially starting in 10 minutes and my pal SiberH is being held hostage in a store….groan!…What else can go wrong this year?…wheeze!
8:52 pm on February 6th, 2014
1) WOWZER for snow in Anchorage 🙂
2)Hokie Bear, welcome.
8:53 pm on February 6th, 2014
SNOW!…I prayed very powerful Pug-Prayers last night for snow!snow!snow! in Alaska specifically on the Iditarod Trail…snorkel!…My prayers are being answered, maybe…wheeze!…Keep us posted CHobbit!
8:56 pm on February 6th, 2014
Staff, I was just thinking about you. Have you ever checked out E-bay for vintage sewing machines. I was just checking the site out now and they have some beauties.
9:05 pm on February 6th, 2014
It is not much, just a skim that covers my deck but snow is in the forecast tomorrow also. Gives us hope.
9:18 pm on February 6th, 2014
Whoo hoo, do a snow dance, wash a car, put a potted plant outside..no wait that is cruel. Do the other and pray to the snow gods 🙂
9:28 pm on February 6th, 2014
Hey Wose,
Yes I sometimes look at machines on Ebay but seem to find enough locally or at one of the TOGA’s I go to. The problem I have heard about eBay is that many of the people who sell machines there are not good packers. It is really a trick to pack them so they don’t get broken in shipment.
I do know a few dealers that I would trust to pack them correctly but most do not understand how to pack a 40-50 pound chunk of cast iron with many breakable parts.
The stories about beautiful old machines being broken in transit, even after precise packing instructions, are all over the sewing blogs. The ‘professional’ packing stores like UPS and FED-EX are not to be trusted either. sniff. It is sad…
9:29 pm on February 6th, 2014
Welcome Hokie-Bear. Pay no attention to the evil pug behind the curtain.
snicker.
9:34 pm on February 6th, 2014

9:37 pm on February 6th, 2014
Staff!…And this is a good time to say leave me the hell out of any “real” Newbie introductions…grunt!…The whole “Ignore the Pug” is getting stinking old and it’s rude…grump!…If you really want to ignore me, I will just leave for good….wheeze!
9:38 pm on February 6th, 2014

We are now watching the skating – got bored with the slope snowboarding, so we watched something else.
Rio – a question for you. You said all newbies get moderated at first. We never did when we first jumped in. Is this a new (ish) thing for this here blog?
10:03 pm on February 6th, 2014
Tupper!…It used to be the Norm…sniff!…So the moderater could determine if a real email account is being used…grunt!…It does not Moderate if you use a new “Name” just if a brand new email account shows up… (or it used to anyways)…sniff!
10:04 pm on February 6th, 2014
The HOH got away with murder when thy first came…no moderation!

10:18 pm on February 6th, 2014
To quote (sort of) our favorite pug: snort, burp, our feelings are hurt. We are going nighty night.

10:29 pm on February 6th, 2014
Just to prove Rio correct, we will say one more thing: mom is NUTS. She had her stuff for Anchorage already packed! We don’t think she is excited, heh, heh, heh.
Now we will toddle off to dream land, oh and G’day Liz.
10:44 pm on February 6th, 2014
