Surf’s Up! Today in Cocoa Beach!
I’d surfed once myself, don’t forget! That was on the trip we took to San Diego, me and Bernie. Maybe more about that some other day.

Chet! Me too. I Surfed in San Diego!
Ah, Those Were the Days…of Fun & Sun
And Walks on the Beach…but I digress.
7:25 am on March 29th, 2013
Good Morning to All!
Those Surfing Dawgs are in Sunny FL, not CA.
Wose we are Thinking of You. See you in a few…hours that is.
7:26 am on March 29th, 2013
Good morning. We are thinking of Bev, Amalia, and Rose. Hope all are well.
An eStory about the San Diego trip would be great! Yes Yes Yes!
We just watched Macy’s pool video. We were incredulous, but then Mom told us that they put just such a pool in at their old house, and both Boris and Misha swam in it! Boris wasn’t thrilled with it and had to be carried in, but then he would swim a lap and then hang out on the extended step. That way his body was cool, but his feet were firmly planted on the ground.
Misha on the other paw, loved to swim. Whenever he was hot, he would go swim a few laps, then get out, shake off, and go back to playing. The difference was that Mom taught him how to get in and out and swim when he was just a puppy.
The funniest part of the story is that the ‘rents had to use a floating bar for their beers, or else Boris would drink them all while they swam. heh heh That Boris must have been quite the fun guy.

Hi Bear! Those surfing Members of the Nation are so cool. We wonder if they live the whole surfing lifestyle. If so, I (Dima) want in!!!!
7:45 am on March 29th, 2013
Why, Dima. Siber-H will be Shocked.
7:52 am on March 29th, 2013
Hi Chet! I’d love to hear about your surfing story.
Good morning all.
8:05 am on March 29th, 2013
Chet, Surf’s up and Paws up here.
B & the O’Howlers are right. This would make a Great e-story.
8:09 am on March 29th, 2013
We are enjoying an amazingly beautiful Spring morning. It is bright and sunny, and already 42 degrees.
8:42 am on March 29th, 2013
Good morning everyone. Beautiful day here too. Someone is getting Spring Fever!
Love those surfing dudes.
9:02 am on March 29th, 2013
Good!…Friday!…snort!…3 more days until that big Easter Dinner….Woooooo!…I can already taste it….yeeep!
9:32 am on March 29th, 2013
It stopped snowing! What a surprise.
After two months of constant snow, I was sure I was trapped inside of a snow globe.
9:40 am on March 29th, 2013
I would love to hear more about Chet and Bernie in San Diego.
I have never said all Sibers hate water. I just happen to be on the extreme end of hating water…like most kats hate water.
I like Chet’s facebookie post today…Nietzsche
Good Morning All
9:50 am on March 29th, 2013
Nietzsche! My kind of guy.
9:53 am on March 29th, 2013
SiberH: You can sit with me during any water activities. It is likely my mama will be on the bench with us.
9:54 am on March 29th, 2013
Dude, the first place I lived had a pool, so I’m not totally unaccustomed to the idea. They put a fence around that pool, which is maybe why they couldn’t afford a fence to keep me in. That wasn’t worth the money so much. So, while I can’t imagine hanging 8 in that surf, I could really dig hanging out in a surf shack, talking it up with some surfer dudes.
10:13 am on March 29th, 2013
Franklin used to surf down our river, get out, go back up, and surf down it again!
He didn’t need no silly boards!
Yes, I would love the e-story.
I surfed in the waves at Cape Hatteras. I was able to get to my knees before I would fall off.
People used to surf where we lived on the North Shore above Boston. In the heat of the summer they had to use wet suits. That water is COLD.
No snow here today, MM’s Mom. Unusual. I see sunlight.
10:14 am on March 29th, 2013
Nope, the sun just went behind some clouds. sigh
10:16 am on March 29th, 2013
Dima, Tenzing and I could be surfer dudes on the beach with you…drinking beer and watching the girls go by. I can just imagine how much attention three good looking guys like us would get from the surfer girls.
10:30 am on March 29th, 2013
Right on, Dude!
10:40 am on March 29th, 2013
Siber and Tenzing, the best part about the surfer dude lifestyle? No work! I’ll bring my hammock.
(How will this lifestyle affect your construction business, Siber? And what about your painting business, Tenzing?)
10:45 am on March 29th, 2013
Okay Surfer Dudes:

Remember this is good.
10:45 am on March 29th, 2013
This is not.
10:49 am on March 29th, 2013
Melanie, That dog sure has long legs. heh hehe heheheheh.
10:53 am on March 29th, 2013
Hey Melanie, I’m the dude who taught these Gidgets how to do it.

10:59 am on March 29th, 2013
Love the photos!
Dima, I don’t charge my mom for my construction work in the back yard so if I became a surfer beach dude, my income would still be the same…zero.
11:41 am on March 29th, 2013
Income!…The only thing SiberH charges is his Maw’s credit card…heh!heh!
12:26 pm on March 29th, 2013
Bella, you are too funny! hahahahahahaha, oops, I forget myself sometimes *blush*
Dog *snort giggle* through the hammock *gigglechorklegasp*
Mr. Husky, you could dig forever at the beach and never run out of work.
In a town near here, the egrets are set to return and the town is preparing to run them off. The “deposits” ruin everything under the trees, even killing lawns. If the town does not scare them off before nesting season, they are just stuck, because the egrets are protected. People need umbrellas to get their mail.
12:28 pm on March 29th, 2013
I don’t know if any of you are into genealogy, but mom stumbled onto findagrave dot com and now she can’t get anything else done for trying to link up all her ancestors. We just found the site last night and now mom is obsessed.
12:30 pm on March 29th, 2013
Macy, The beach would be the same as where I live. It would be sand without the tumbleweeds.
12:34 pm on March 29th, 2013
Greetings!
I am finally back from ligthning bolts. The Wookiemobile was parked right at the hospital entrance! There were four people getting the bolts today, and i was third in line, so the Smoochers, me, and Blip (Wookie) got to spend a lot of quality time together. Sammie and Belle Starr made sure that hair fires were prevented with Belle’s most sparkliest fire extinguisher. Luna made sure there was no hanky-panky going on, Kat gave me the smoochiest smooches, and my dear Masquers not only played music with the Prof to calm me done last night, but gave me soothing pawflexology. Youse guys are the bestest ever!
Sammie will be staying over. She will not have to wear booties here.
Clothe the Giant fund: We are halfway to our goal of $1000. Let’s make sure the Giant stays warm and dry for the Iditarod 2014!
Thanks everyone for your good thoughts for me, and to everyone who has contributed to the Giant fund so far!
Siber-H and Rio: Opening day here in New York on Monday! Wooooohoooo!
12:37 pm on March 29th, 2013
BTW: Love the pictures of all you surfing dudes, and really love an e-story about Chet and Bernie surfing!
12:40 pm on March 29th, 2013
Another BTW: Hope all youse guys waltzing with purple giraffes are on the way to felling tip-top!
12:53 pm on March 29th, 2013
Glad you are back and not on fire Rose.
Time for a nap!
12:53 pm on March 29th, 2013
We’re glad all went well for you, Rose. We know Kat can sometimes (????) get over-zealous in the smooching department. Don’t be shy about telling her to take a chill.
1:02 pm on March 29th, 2013
Rose!…I would give you a sloppy slurpy pug lick, but I am busy eating lunch right now…burp!…We started a new book titled, “Murder On The Iditarod Trail”…snort!… I’m glad I’m reading this after our musher got home safe and sound…sniff!
1:04 pm on March 29th, 2013
Wose, That does my heart good. Opening day for you is Monday!! Woo Woo The Baseball season is almost upon us!!
1:10 pm on March 29th, 2013
Baseball!…Opening day for the Rockies is Monday too!…snort!snort!…Wish I could be there…sniff!
1:45 pm on March 29th, 2013
Hi everyone – quick check in to say we may not be checking in much Seems Mama can’t tolerate the pain meds – she is either sleeping or splorting. She is also spending some of her time feeling very sorry for herself.
Don’t worry – we will keep an eye on her and make sure she is better soon. But now we know Dancing Giraffe pills are not for her!
2:00 pm on March 29th, 2013
I have completed the needlepoint. Alert the media! It’s to cover a bench for Sam’s Mom and she thought she was never going to get this ever ever.
Now comes the hard part. I have to mail it to San Francisco to be finished, where they will wash it and then block it so it becomes square again and smooth. I’m going to send it Priority mail, registered with signature and tracking.
I will be drinking heavily and sniffing glue until it makes a safe return.
2:08 pm on March 29th, 2013
Mollys Mom: You are making me laugh!
2:10 pm on March 29th, 2013
T&G: Sorry to hear your mama doesn’t like the dancing giraffe’s and the pugs in tutus.
What to do…what to do.
2:12 pm on March 29th, 2013
Quick! Before B sees! Out damn comma…”giraffes”.
2:15 pm on March 29th, 2013
MPM, that is very beautiful.
T&G, your poor mama. Tell her to take Tylonol instead of the Happy Pills. Our mom says that they work as well as or better than the doctor-prescribed happy pills post-surgery. And they don’t make you sleepy. And keep her under the quilt. Kat will be stopping by to assis youse before she comes back here.
2:15 pm on March 29th, 2013
Molly’s mom, that is beautiful. Perhaps you can send some glue to Golinka and she can use that instead of pills.
Looking up a type of bird. No luck yet.
2:15 pm on March 29th, 2013
OHs: Love the Kat kisses!
Siber-H: Does Stover owe you and Rio a pie?
RIO! What’s on the lunch menu? What a coincidence! I was given the very same book by Cheryl, one of the people the Grizz and I met while in Alaska.
T&G: Hope your mum is better soon. Splorting is never fun!
MPM: The needlepoint is gorgeous!
2:24 pm on March 29th, 2013
Wose, We won’t expect a pie from Stover until she has time to recover from the news about the Baseball season.
T&G My mom says your mom is entitled to feel sorry for herself.
MPM, The needlepoint is beyond belief beautiful.
I can’t believe it! Rockies Baseball on Monday! It has been a long Dark Season except for the Sled Dog Races.
2:26 pm on March 29th, 2013
MollyPop’s Mom: The needlepoint cover is Absolutely Beautiful!
BBL. Nana is off to get her Car tabs.
She once again waited until the Last Minute I see.
2:28 pm on March 29th, 2013
Oh dear. Say is not so:
http://shine.yahoo.com/healthy-living/is-alaska-the-worst-state-in-the-nation-for-women–202627073.html
2:28 pm on March 29th, 2013
Mollypop’s Mom: That is truly beautiful.
T&G: I’d agree with the Tylenol suggestion.
Masquers is making be laugh.
Siber H and Rio: What kind of pie? Sigh….
2:33 pm on March 29th, 2013
Gah. That wasn’t a misplaced “comma” it was an “apostrophe”. Digging myself in deeper and deeper.
2:37 pm on March 29th, 2013
Melanie: Are you looking for the bird in the picture on Staff’s Facebook page? It’s a beautiful bird but I haven’t been able to find it.
Nietzsche is one of my favorite philosophers but I can’t find where he wrote the quotation on Chet’s Facebook page. I guess I’m having a bad day.
2:42 pm on March 29th, 2013
Nattie: You mean Alaska isn’t the home of manly men and pioneer women? There once were rumors the ratio of men to women was quite high (or was that something we heard on Men in Trees?)
B: We are beginning to think Chet is pulling our leg in regards to the philosophers and their supposed quotes.
3:02 pm on March 29th, 2013
Stover, Butterscotch please. You are taking the baseball news very well.
Masquers, I think you may be right about Chet and the philosophers quotes.
3:03 pm on March 29th, 2013
The Nietzsche quotation may be from The Genealogy of Morals. I have to check.
3:05 pm on March 29th, 2013
Siber H: It seems only yesterday that you were crying over the end of the baseball season. Sigh….
3:07 pm on March 29th, 2013
Mollypop’s Mom: how long did that take you? I have a few unfinished embroidery projects. They are a good cold weather project which means that they get put aside for months at a time. Another problem is that I guess I get bored at some point and just start another one or I see a kit in a store that I can’t resist.
I started one as a gift when my nephew was expecting his first child (who is now 6). I was thinking that retirement + a cold winter would give me time to embroider and it did–I started another new project and bought several new ones on an online site I found. Gah.
3:14 pm on March 29th, 2013
Yay!
3:18 pm on March 29th, 2013
Natasha: Alaska has some startling statistics in terms of some health issues, suicide, alcohol, etc. A lot of comparison stats are based on “per capita” and with our small population, it paints a bleak picture. I don’t know enough about statistics to comment too much. If I have time, I’ll look some stuff up later before I go to work.
3:31 pm on March 29th, 2013
MollysMom!…Can you whip up one of those needlepoints for the Summer Auction?…snort!…Someone here knows exactly how you feel when you mail something you’ve made off into the wild-goat wilderness…wheeze!
3:47 pm on March 29th, 2013
Wow. There are so many artisans on this here blog, and all Mom has are hopes for landscaping masterpieces from us. We all are in awe.
Melanie, clouds have taken over here too. But the temperature is stil mild, without that damp breeze we had yesterday. Mom likes hanging out in the barn on days like these.
Phillies open on Monday. Mom likes chocolate cream pie; we prefer bacon pie.
3:49 pm on March 29th, 2013
Rio, you shouldn’t have mentioned the marauding goats. I’m sure at this very minute that Molly’s Mom is conniping.
4:05 pm on March 29th, 2013
Sammie!…She shouldn’t worry, they are probably still full after eating my surprise from Nome….grump!
4:22 pm on March 29th, 2013
Chet: I’d love to hear about your San Diego surfing adventure.
Mollypop’s Mom: Exquisite needlework!
SnowBella: Those are bleak numbers for women in Alaska.
4:25 pm on March 29th, 2013
CHobbit: You are making me laugh with your embroidery stories!
Wow, your temperature was the same as ours in Croton-on-Hudson!
4:43 pm on March 29th, 2013
The Prof is putting together photos for a digital story about our Alaska trip. He stumbled upon this while doing research on this year’s Iditarod mushers! Best looking musher!
http://www.alaskadispatch.com/slideshow/iditarod-2013-meet-mushers
4:45 pm on March 29th, 2013
Number 38 of course!
4:54 pm on March 29th, 2013
Peanut butter jar day for the Pack. Frank fell asleep.
4:54 pm on March 29th, 2013
4:59 pm on March 29th, 2013
T & G’s Mum. Extra Strength Tylenol is the best one for over the counter. Barb took hydrocodone (sp?) 5mg with 325 of Tylenol as a script from the doc. She had no bad side effects with that one. There are 2 more – vicadin and pergasett (sp on both??) that evidently have more side effects. Do you know what was given by the doc?
In the 60s here tomorrow. Barb just came in from sitting out on the patio with me and Gus. It was wonderful!
5:06 pm on March 29th, 2013
FRANK!!! WAKE UP!!!! Someone is going to steal your jar. At least you can’t get your head stuck in it. I would suffocate.
Beautiful needlework, MPM.
CHobbit, mom is with you, it is much more fun to start a project than finish it.
Baseball season starts here SUNDAY night.
5:07 pm on March 29th, 2013
Wose: Thank You to the Prof, aka Grizzly, for some very nice Musher Profile Photos.
There is definitely one that Stands Out among them. I believe the initials are AJ.
5:09 pm on March 29th, 2013
CHobbit – It took me over 2-1/2 years to do that needlepoint. It measures 24 x 36 inches. I don’t needlepoint in the hot weather. I did the design of the flowers but couldn’t see well enough to do the branch until I had cataract surgery last summer.
5:11 pm on March 29th, 2013
Bear, we both think that is a great photo of number 38!
5:11 pm on March 29th, 2013
Franklin is worn out just Dreaming of River Surfing.
Besides the peanut butter is gone…nothing left to do but nap.
5:11 pm on March 29th, 2013
Here’s the needlepoint I ordered today.

5:13 pm on March 29th, 2013
I am LOL over Macy’s comment about Frank…it is quite a funny photo.
5:17 pm on March 29th, 2013
Sometimes after getting an especially great treat, the urge to nap cannot be avoided. Frank should join the Surfer Dudes hanging out by the beach (or river).
We have no idea of the occasion, but Mom and Pop have decided to go out to eat at their super favorite little Brasserie tonight. We will be on patrol.
5:26 pm on March 29th, 2013
How about the ear flaps on that hat!
5:33 pm on March 29th, 2013
Melanie, how much peanut butter was in that jar?
5:43 pm on March 29th, 2013
MPM, The one you finished is beautiful and we LOVE the new one you have ordered. How long will the new one take do you think?
Did anyone see on the Today Show yesterday that Hoda adopted her first dog, who she named Blake, after the CW singer. Dog is darling. Hope she does OK with him. She seems a little clueless when it comes to 4 leggeds.
5:46 pm on March 29th, 2013
Who is Huda?
5:47 pm on March 29th, 2013
That was a big jar of peanut butter, but it was mostly empty. The Pack get their supplements in PB and when a jar is finished we save it.
That is some Easter Bonnet!
Yes, that was for Alice’s Facebook. Have not been able to find that bird! I thought it was a warbler, but the shape of the tail is wrong.
Zoe and I had a great rest day. Tomorrow is a rest day too.
5:51 pm on March 29th, 2013
Hoda not Huda! Hoda Kotb, she is a new anchor on NBC, Today Show. and does other news specials.
5:54 pm on March 29th, 2013
MagPie- I don’t know how long it will take to do that new needle point. It’s 17″ x 13″ so it’s bigger than the usual 12 x 12 or 14 x 14 that I like to make pillows from. Maybe a year.
6:08 pm on March 29th, 2013
Dating in Alaska! I heard someone say for women the odds are good, but the goods are odd.
6:12 pm on March 29th, 2013
Snowbella, that got me laughing!
6:19 pm on March 29th, 2013
Melanie: Impossible! I’m not funny. Just ask AJ.
6:20 pm on March 29th, 2013
I have to say that OYAS is very excited that some season is starting in three days. It it not Spring that I’m’ writing about.
6:27 pm on March 29th, 2013
MPM – the needlework is exquisite. May I ask why you send it to CA to have it blocked? Did you design it? 14″ canvas?
I hope the giraffe watchers are doing well and I’m glad Rose is safely home.
Very nice picture of AJ. Thanks to the Prof!
6:36 pm on March 29th, 2013
Blue cat, the place in California is highly recommended for doing the best job on finishing needlepoint. The 14 inch canvas meant that the needlepoint is done on canvas and its dimensions are 14″ x 14″.
This canvas was designed and painted by an artist, then some changes had to be made to extend the design in some places so that it exactly fit the bench that I’m doing for Sam’s mom.
6:54 pm on March 29th, 2013
MPM – it’s very beautiful with smooth stitches. Well done. Sam’s mom is fortunate, but I’m certain she knows that.
7:26 pm on March 29th, 2013
Rebecca, That is funny…would make a great t-shirt.
umm Who is OYAS?
7:40 pm on March 29th, 2013
Dang it Bella! I already told you you are funny.
7:54 pm on March 29th, 2013
Goods!…Odd!…heh!snort!heh!…Someone here laughed out loud. Not me…snort!…We just got back from a long walk because it is like summer outside with a temp of 59ish…heh!wheeze!…Time to relax now…wuffle!
8:13 pm on March 29th, 2013
We also want to know who OYSA is? Melanie, Melanie!
8:15 pm on March 29th, 2013
Will be saying good night, but we also were laughing over the odds are good but the good are odd. Would make a great tee shirt for sure !
8:33 pm on March 29th, 2013
MollysMom!…So will you be done with the new needlepoint by the Fourth of July?…snort!…This is usually around the time we have our Summer Auction, you know…heh!
8:56 pm on March 29th, 2013
Hmm .. I have no idea who that is . . Was supposed to be OTAS, but seemed to have melded in with YSAS.
Anyhoo, that is a beautiful work of art. MM’sM? I thought you once said you had no artistc talent. Yeah right! *
* rare instance of two positives make a negative
Bed awaits.
9:23 pm on March 29th, 2013
Ha! The Goods are Odd! LOL !!! Good one!
Kowabunga Dude.

9:27 pm on March 29th, 2013
Food!…Hey! There’s a hamburger on the floor in that foto!…snort!…Talk about a floor buffet!
9:42 pm on March 29th, 2013
Dima? Is that you in the picture?
10:27 pm on March 29th, 2013
SiberH: Maybe we should send my mama on a slim Jim run. She might cramp our style if we are trying to mingle with the four-legged singles.
10:28 pm on March 29th, 2013
That last one was from me. Gah!
10:33 pm on March 29th, 2013
Slim-Jims!….snort!…I’m awake now!
10:52 pm on March 29th, 2013
heh, Odd goods. Snicker. I laughed and then I told it to Mr.Staff and he laughed too. I wasn’t sure he would laugh because he thought this weird joke was funny…me, not so much.
Ok here is the joke.
A skeleton walked into a bar and said “Give me a beer and a mop.”
10:57 pm on March 29th, 2013
Alice!…Did ya hear the one about the 3 legged dog who walked into the saloon and said, “I’m lookin’ fer the man who shot mah paw”….snort!
11:01 pm on March 29th, 2013
Oh, belly laugh!
12:03 am on March 30th, 2013
Isn’t there a song called “it’s one in the morning, and a skunk just passed my window . . “? If not, there should be.
At least I hope it’s a skunk . . What do bears smell like when they wake up from hibernation?
The smell has gone or maybe I’m getting used to it. If I see footprints in the morning I’ll let you know.
5:57 am on March 30th, 2013
Oley Howlers’ Mom always yells at me for this one. Dima walks into a bar. The Bartender says “Dima why the long face?”
