Super Bowl Picks
“Based on certain modalities, I’ve revised my pick,” Admin says.
“How much oxycontin have you been taking?” says Spence.
“I refer to a document called the Amos Alonzo Stagg Infallible Predicating Chart that has come into my possession. It says – ‘Pats!'”
“Back to bed.”

Good morning! Sorry, Admin. We are for Seattle and Nana !

************* ATTENTION !!! ***********
The long-awaited and much-anticipated Snowhook Dog Sponsorships campaign has begun!
This year, Snowhook Kennel has put together a fabulous page, listing all dog sponsorship opportunities. Each dog has his/her bio for you to read and love.
New this year: we can sponsor Race Dogs for $500, and also “Otherwise Dogs” for $100. Race dogs are those dogs who will be racing this year. Otherwise Dogs consist of retired racers, up-and-coming racers, racers who did not know they were racers, and team dogs whose function is to maintain order and distribute the necessary sparkles. Remember: Without the Otherwise Dogs, a kennel does not have the selection necessary to put together a competitive team, for each race, year after year.
To see the race dogs available for sponsorship, go to http://onwardsnowhook.blogspot.com/ and click on Sponsor a Dog. That page will give you the links for Race Dogs and Otherwise Dogs.

Good morning, all.
We will not talk about any Superbowl teams after the debacle in Seattle yesterday. The buddies/lurkers watched it in Florida. Computer issues here, so not much communication for the week.
9:48 am on January 19th, 2015
We are pulling for the team that our friends like. Heh.
Good morning. Mom and I are tackling bills before we lose heart.
Nice warm afternoon coming up so I will be basking. Still hoping for some winter weather this winter.
9:56 am on January 19th, 2015
Unlike Savannah of Snowhook, I hope both teams lose.
I had to look up Amos Alonzo Stagg.
Good morning all.
9:59 am on January 19th, 2015
Mom and I will be pulling for Seattle. One of Mom’s nieces married a Washington boy and he is a big fan!
10:11 am on January 19th, 2015
Good morning everyone.
Cracks us up when we see tv coverage of fans who say “WE beat this or that team” , or “WE ran better -or tackled harder” or whatever; taking credit for the actions of those overpaid guys on the field playing a GAME!
Sheesh.
Ok – done whining. Onwards.
10:20 am on January 19th, 2015
Don’t know, don’t care. Sorry to be a wet blanket. We may turn on the game, but at this point don’t even know who is playing, and don’t know who Amos is either.
10:37 am on January 19th, 2015
B. Stover–My sentiments exactly! Good morning, all! Have a wonderful day (sorry–I guess I should say “a magical Monday”).
I WILL check out the Snowhook candidates…
10:39 am on January 19th, 2015
B: We had to look Amos up too.
Other Buddy: Your guys played their hearts out. One of the best games ever!
Hope youse had a good flight and are having a fun time in that southern patch of sun.
Admin: It’s back under the quilt for you.

Barb, I found some info on the ice bikes.
http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/news/2014/12/30/icebikes-catch-on-quickly-at-canalside.html
12:29 pm on January 19th, 2015
MPM, Mom would love to try one of those ice bikes. Bicycling and ice…what’s not to love?

*Begin rant*
Back in November I went to the urgent care center at the county hospital for a UTI (not that you asked, lol) I asked if they took my insurance, Yes. Paid my co-pay, which turns out was not enough, but I am paying it off.
Now I get a bill from the doctor (btw it was a PA not an MD) who it turns out does NOT take my insurance and would I please remit $900. ARE YOU FREAKIN’ INSANE? Should I ask when I check in if the guy that takes my blood, checks my pee, weighs me, if each one takes my insurance? It shall be a frosty day in the hot place before they see a penny of that $900 till I have had my say.
*end rant*
1:39 pm on January 19th, 2015
ML, That is ridiculus. Stick to your guns, Girl.
1:43 pm on January 19th, 2015
ML, that is terrible! Refuse to pay and explain why. Of course they will no doubt hound you and then turn it over to a collection agency. Maybe The Pink Bulldozer has some suggestions.
MPM, I mentioned the bikes to Josh and he was familiar with one that has a back and front ski and is for going down hill mostly. I forwarded the article to him. Thank you very much.
1:51 pm on January 19th, 2015
ML, there may be more to this – like maybe involving a kickback. They could be in CAHOOTS.
2:15 pm on January 19th, 2015
“A Frosty Day in the Hot Place”…Good One, ML!
BTW: Nana has had some (unwanted) Experience with Tag-On Bills. They say the insurance will pay and then they don’t. Grrrr.
Write a letter so your position is On Record.
2:22 pm on January 19th, 2015
It was supposed to be a somewhat warm day here. It is 39, but it is a windy, damp, very chillpy 39. Brrr.
Mom and Pop are going to the movies to see Selma when Pop gets home from work. We Howlers will be holding down the fort.
3:13 pm on January 19th, 2015
Admin: That’s enough thinking for the day. Back to bed.
http://www.afca.com/article/article.php?id=StaggAward
I was divided between the teams yesterday as we have a genuine cheesehead in the family now. What a game, though!
O’Howlers: WhooooHoooo! I will be checking out all the dogs.
The suitcases are back out. This time I’m going to Alberta for the MRI of my shoulder. An 8 hour bus trip each way. Grump! I leave at 6 ish in the morning and return by mid afternoon Wednesday. I’m to report to the hospital at 7 pm for the MRI to start at 8 and last between 30 to 90 minutes. I will have no time or inclinations to go shopping.
3:24 pm on January 19th, 2015
We want to see several movies out now – Selma, American Sniper and Black and White, to name a few.
Let us know what you think of Selma, Howlers.
Mild here too. Lots of grass showing again. Feel a walkie coming soon.
Finished The Distant Hours. It was quite long, about 560 pages, but it was very good. Morton did her usual technique, where she jumps back and forth to different time periods. This one is early 1900’s, early war years in London and the countryside, and then 1992. I think the book was written in 2012.
3:31 pm on January 19th, 2015
Dawson: try to stay still and take shallow breaths. Apparently I twitch and take deep breaths. I did not know this when I went in for my MRI. Apparently I doubled the length of the procedure and drove the techs a little crazy! Oh well.
Everyone under the quilt: take care and do your P.T.
Amos Alonzo Stagg. His biography tires me out. I am not sure I would want to work until I am 96.
3:38 pm on January 19th, 2015
Dawson, that does not sound like a fun trip at all. We will be thinking about you. Safe travels and hurry back.
We are doing our beef vegetable soup this afternoon (yesterday didn’t work out) and will be taking it over to Josh’s later.
Barb is worried about me and Lucy if we ever have to go live at Josh’s house (not sure why she thinks of things like this). Josh has a big staircase going to his upstairs, and a big open staircase (no backs) going from the deck to the back yard. Seems I have never learned to do stairs, even tho Barb has tried working on it. I do the 3 stairs to the garage, but won’t do the ones to the basement. Does anyone have any good tips on how to overcome this phobia? She has tried really good treats on the stairs. I will put my front feet down, but never get as far as moving the back feet from the landing.
3:45 pm on January 19th, 2015
Mags, does Lucy do stairs? If so, maybe you will follow her down, then back up.
3:51 pm on January 19th, 2015
Dawson: Doesn’t sound like the funnest of trips. Hurry Home!
O’Howlers: Pondering over the Many Choices on your link.
Magpie: Will you be going for a Sleep-over in the near future?
4:08 pm on January 19th, 2015
When Boris was a pup, Mom says she had to teach him steps by actually taking his feet in her paws, and lifting each down, or up. Of course, his was a case of ignorance and not fear, and he was but a small pup.
Three Snowhook dogs have been sponsored already! Woo Hoo!!!!
Bee sponsored her nost favorite floppy-eared book-crazy boy, Charlie. Yay Bee!!!
Pop sponsored his favorite sweet girl, who he fell in love with when he was Way Up North at Snowhook Kennel: Patsy Ann. Yay Pop!
The third shall remain a mystery until we receive the okay from the sponsor. Heh!
4:12 pm on January 19th, 2015
ML – mama does indeed say stick to your guns and document over and over that you DID verify insurance coverage AND your co- pay was not only accepted once, but verified by the billing of the additional amount. And that doctor is under their umbrella, so he can go get screwed.
Sorry about that. Mama is a little temperamental at the moment as Gramp stumbled on the stairs and got hurt. The Storyteller got him to the ER, and called Mama who was 45 minutes from home. So when she got to the ER in a half hour ( yup, do the mph math), it was jam packed with flu patients. The wait was going to be about 5 hours for an elderly gentleman with shooting pains in his rib area. Needless to say, the Pink Bulldozer took over, Gramp is now getting an X-ray and care at the Urgent Care center. No diagnosis yet – news will be forthcoming.
4:20 pm on January 19th, 2015
Oh no! Poor Gramp! Paws crossed that this is minor and he heals lickety-split.
Mom ordered us these collars that light up real bright. They are called head-lights, and we will each have our own special color. They will let her find us at night, darn it. But they are being sipped from Canada, so we are pretty sure they won’t arrive before daylight savings time. Heh heh!
4:22 pm on January 19th, 2015
Keep In mint we can pool our resources on sponsoring dogs, as always.
4:26 pm on January 19th, 2015
It’s going to be a great Super Bowl game. Spence’s prediction is as expected.
Dawson, Safe Travels.
T&G Paws crossed and prayers for gramps. We hope he isn’t seriously injured.
Barb, No suggestions on teaching a dog to go up and down stairs.
Mom has never had to do it because stairs are rare in this state.
ML, Good suggestions from everyone on what to do about the medical bill. I wish few of us could visit them and bulldoze them all into the ground.
4:29 pm on January 19th, 2015
BSD, Ummm, Barb says she is worrying about us if she crosses the Bridge. Sort of a long term sleepover, so to speak. I know how to do a short stairway, but will NOT do a long one. The first three years of my life we lived in a two story house, and I never once went upstairs. I will not follow Lucy up or down either, no I wil not! Barb does not want to put a leash on me and force me, because she is afraid I will freak out and knock her down the stairs. This should have been handled when I was a pup and not an 80 pounder.
4:32 pm on January 19th, 2015
Poor Gramps. Keep us posted on his condition, please. Did he fall inside, or outside on icy stairs?
4:47 pm on January 19th, 2015
Ok – diagnosis. Broken rib. Not terrible, but very painful. Dancing giraffes and home rest coming up.
4:54 pm on January 19th, 2015
Carpola! Very painful, and they take a ling time to heal.
4:58 pm on January 19th, 2015
T&G: Thank dog for the Pink Bulldozer. Imagine having all the flu patients sneeze on Gramps for 5 hours. No chance of that happening!
O’Howlers: Your new headlamps sound awesome. I will put my Special anti-marauding goats on the job and tracking and protecting your lamps.
Will the lamps improve your ability to see at night or is that not an issue?
I bought a headlamp when I was in Montana. Supposed to be for riding my bike up here when it started getting dark early. That has not been a worry so far. Snort! Fluffle!
MTMP: What T&G”s Mama said.
I want to join with some of youse to sponsor dogs! E-mail me.
I dibs Twig!
5:07 pm on January 19th, 2015
I agree that Barb should not try it with Maggie and a leash on the stairs.
This is a rather way out there suggestion, but could you get a man to try it with Maggie on the stairs. Do it like the dog whisperer would do it…leash up dog and then try the stairs with extreme confidence and calmness…do not force the dog.
Sometimes a dog will perform better for someone that is not their most beloved human.
5:08 pm on January 19th, 2015
ML–Is there a local news person (newspaper OR television) who does consumer outrage reporting? That can sometimes kickstart things…
Dawson–Aaagh! Wrap up warmly. If you have painkillers available, they can be quite useful on a long bus journey (and of course you will be in my thoughts).
T and G–I am also thinking of Gramp, his shoulder, and his time with the giraffes (and grateful as we all are for the pink dozer)
…and where are Wose and HOH today?
5:09 pm on January 19th, 2015
Poor gramps A broken rib is very painful but I know the family will make him take it easy while he is healing.
5:10 pm on January 19th, 2015
Breathless!
The Snowhook dog site is beyond words!
5:11 pm on January 19th, 2015
Dawson, Mom got the idea from Karen Ramstead, who uses them for visibility when she is training along roadsides at night. Buth they do light up very bright, so they will help us see too. We each have lights we wear around our necks now, but we are easily able to turn our backs to the ‘rents and thereby hide our whereabouts. These new head-lights won’t let us get away with that.

Charlie is sooo handsome! Irresisible dogs.
5:51 pm on January 19th, 2015
Tupper&Gilly: So Sorry to hear about Gramp! Those broken ribs are very painful. Callie has her work cut out for her.
Paws crossed he will Heal Quickly.
Dawson: Checking the Couch Cushions. Nana says she should have bet on the Seahawks during halftime yesterday. She would have the Big Bucks in her paws today.
Magpie&Lucy: Good Grief! What is Barb thinking? She has at least another 20 years before she even comes close to crossing that Bridge.
5:51 pm on January 19th, 2015
Fearless Leader Twig is partially sponsored. Please email snowhookdogs@gmail.com if you would like to add to her sponsorship. Awooo!
6:44 pm on January 19th, 2015
T & G & Callie,
Take good care of Gramps. I will blur over and help keep him warm.
7:03 pm on January 19th, 2015
Awesome One, please check your SDD.
Never fear Hixson dogs are here! Mom and the DDD spent today with the adopted son and his partner doing brunch and the Christmas we didn’t get to have together due to illness and surgeries on their side. All better now 🙂 Pleasant day but l o n g.
OH, love the headlights! great idea.
If some one would lie to chose an “Otherwise” to half sponsor I’d be proud to be a silent partner. Contact me.
7:35 pm on January 19th, 2015
Gramp is finally tucked under the Quilt, enjoying the giraffes.
Mama is about ready to beat him with a nerf noodle.
She would really like to get a month or so off with no traumas.
sigh
7:50 pm on January 19th, 2015
Big day here waiting for the horse to come back. No luck. Today the MLK breakfast was at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, Lots of people around but no horses.

7:52 pm on January 19th, 2015
Martha: Thanks for the MRI advice. I would love to get it over with as fast as possible.
8:09 pm on January 19th, 2015
Dawson, know this sounds silly but mom says do NOT fall asleep in the MRI either. It isn’t quiet but she has managed to do it and as you relax to sleep, you move a bit. The techs are not happy when happens, no they are not.
8:13 pm on January 19th, 2015
Too many good dogs to sponsor! I do really like the expanded website although I am sure it was a lot of work.
Take care everyone who are fighting sickness or pain. Better days are coming.
It snowed a wee bit last night. Everyone little bit helps at this point.
BBL
8:33 pm on January 19th, 2015
HOH: Good to know that too. That was Plan A.
9:04 pm on January 19th, 2015
Dawson, so sorry to sink a Plan A.
DianeC. Thank you for the magical Monday since some herd’s mom was out gallivanting.
The “new” website is amazing, and we love the bios. It is kind of like speed dating with dogs 🙂
9:31 pm on January 19th, 2015
Someone on the new website is incredibly clever, and we all know who, and is such a good writer.
9:41 pm on January 19th, 2015
Howlers!…snort!
Day!…What a DAY. I am sitting on my friend’s lap commiserating with her about all the badness that is suddenly going on at the busy-place while keeping Beau off her lap…sniff! …Licking her arms seems to calm her down. Or disgust her, I’m not quite sure which, but I will continue in my commiserating…wuffle!slurp!
9:50 pm on January 19th, 2015
Rio: Why has the busy-place gone bad? Your friend cannot go back to the bad way it used to be.
Loulou: You’ve got the best spot in the city!
9:55 pm on January 19th, 2015
Siber, Thank you for the input. I think you might have a good idea.
BSD, Maybe it is Barb’s insurance agent planning side, but she likes to have her ducks in a row. Plus longevity is not good on her paternal side.
Rio, Hope the bad ass stuff, I mean badness stuff, is temporary.
10:00 pm on January 19th, 2015
Siber, I did not mean to imply that you do not normally have good ideas. I just meant the idea about someone else walking Maggie down the stairs might work.
10:03 pm on January 19th, 2015
One Word!….New Management…sniff! ….Tomorrow my friend has to all but re-interview for her job with New Management…grump!….She is debating whether or not she is going to be pawsitive in this endeavor…wuffle!…New Management means everyone’s world will be turned topsey-turvey…grumble!….The hot-shot is sorely unhappy as they told him today they will be phasing out his supervisor status…spit!
10:25 pm on January 19th, 2015
Rio: You mean they will turn the hot-shot into a regular joe? Gasp!
10:27 pm on January 19th, 2015
We have had stair issues with one dog (see below) who refused to go down them. It took her a year to try. Advise, sorry, it just happened one day (after being left alone several times.

10:28 pm on January 19th, 2015
Pumpkin hour around here. Nighty night.
10:29 pm on January 19th, 2015
Regular!….I know, it is unspeakable really…sniff!…They were critical of him doing a wonderful job for the last 17 months…grump!…Pretty bizarre stuff. My friend is so close to calling it all quits. I keep licking her arms because I know she brings home the bacon bits and I need those…wuffle!
10:38 pm on January 19th, 2015
Hey Guys! Mom and Pop just now returned home from the movie and unlocked our iPaw. Whoah!!!! We had a ton of updates to the Snowhook dog sponsorships!!!
First off, as you may have noticed while perusing, Rio Jr. Has been sponsored. His sponsor? None other than Senior, along with Beau and their friend. The youngster had better live up to Senior’s expectations!
Twig is also fully sponsored, by The Awesome one, along with that notorious Herd of Hounds from Tennessee.
Hobbit stepped up to sponsor not only her namesake, Harris, but also Tenzing and Zebbe!
Loulou and her mom are sponsoring loveable Wyatt! It seems that yet another bond was formed during a trip Way Up North to Snowhook Kennel.
And still another Otherwise dog was sponsored: Leonard the dog, not the Storyteller, by who else? Amalia and Leonard the Storyteller, not the dog. Confused yet? Heh!!!
What a fantastic first day of dog sponsorships! Youse guys totally rock!!!!
10:43 pm on January 19th, 2015
Long post re: rant, gramps giraffes, MRIs, SNOWHOOK and other assorted stuff pfft gone like that. Trust me it was good. Stuff too..on a totally unrelated note ,has any one ever tried Southern Comfort and Coke? Tasty stuff that!
10:58 pm on January 19th, 2015
Howlers!….WOOOOOO HOOOOOO!…snort!snort!….This has been a Grand Damn Day of sponsorships!….Zow!
11:13 pm on January 19th, 2015
Rio: New Management. Growl. Your Friend loved that job! We know she is feeling bad for the Hot Shot too. What a Crummy State of Affairs.
On a Happier Note: Hurray for the newly Sponsored Snowhook Dogs!
5:37 am on January 20th, 2015
Rio! Twins! Mom has a new boss too. It is official on Feb. 1, but has pretty much already gone into effect. The difference? Mom hated her old boss, and so far she loves loves loves her new one.
On a related note, she is right now ready to leave to report into her new shelf, and unpack what few belongings she could take. Sob.
