Sundays With Ingrid

There wasn’t much space between them, the way they were standing, close to the catapult. Joey leaned across that space, face first, a very awkward movement, leading with his mouth. Ingrid, like a figure in a dream, turned up her own face. Their lips came together. Ingrid’s eyes closed. She felt his arms going around her. She put hers around him. Ingrid had done plenty of hugging—Mom, Dad, Stacy, Mia, other friends, Grampy once or twice, Aunt This and Uncle That—but nothing compared to this. She opened her eyes to see what he was doing. He was watching her. She’d never been so close to someone’s eyes before. At that moment a door opened upstairs and Joey backed away, fast, like from an electric shock.

Good Morning to all. Hope your Sunday is sunny and warm.

Good morning! Happy Easter, and also Happy International Day of the Dog! Learned that from our Hobby Farm calendar. Around here, it is always Day of the Dog!

Barb is taking off in a bit for a visit and brunch with kids and Grands.

No baby goaties yet. We are hoping they are born today so we can name one Easter. Any other thoughts, since there are probably 2 in the oven?

Barb read about some school district that renamed Easter eggs “Spring Spheres”. We here are not overly religious (more spiritual) but we thought that was carrying things a little too far.

One thought we had on goatie names is “Bunny”. Any votes for that?

Everyone must be sleeping in, or hiding eggs!

Thank you for the card, Melanie.

    Kissing interruptus!

Barb and Maggie: I posted you should name the other one Bunny but it disappeared into cyber space.

It didn’t freeze last night! And the sun is coming out. Still taking the car to work because it’s a long shift.

Orion and Whitey-Lance: What a pair. Yes. We should sponsor Orion also.

Barb&Maggie: Bunny is a perfect name for one of the kiks! (When we first saw your post we misread it as “Sunny” <3)

Dawson: Thank you for the info on Whitey's photo (from yesterday) I did find it.

    How about Easter and Lilly?

The Pack is happy this Easter. Instead of Easter eggs they have Easter bones. Really big smoked bones.

The day is beautiful. Even Ellie went swimming! Amazing . . .

Eagle pic later, right now you can’t see anything but and eagle’s back.

YSAS is on an Easter Egg hunt. No candy though. The cousins are all in their twenties and in the eggs are dimes!

Dan has gone to my sister’s church and then on to the egg hunt.

Barb and MagPie: My sister now has a chicken coop, gotten the feed and correct watering equipment and will pick up pullets this week. She wanted to know if there was a way to tell the difference between genders while they were pullets. I laughed.

FAKE PHOTO???? What are you guys talking about? I never fake a photo! snicker

As Corgis, we propose goatie names of “Over Here” and “Over There”. That way when we herd them, we can just call their names and they will do what we want.
Basil and Sage have some suggestions too, but most of them are pretty lame. They said they can’t name them til they know if they are boys or girls or one of each.
They like – Laurel and Hardy
    Jelly and Bean
    Daffy and Dill
    Marshmellow and Peep
And Mama votes for Agatha and Christie – but we all know how Mama is. After all, I was named for Tuppence Beresford of AG novels. Basil and Sage got their names from her other favorite author – Julie Child. tee hee

I’m glad that Wookie checked in last night. We also need to hear from Mollie (ABP)

Barb, it is the Santa Fe, NM ,school district that is calling Easter eggs, “Spring Spheres”. That doesn’t surprise me one bit. A Santa Fe jury just found a guy not guilty that was driving drunk and killed 4 teenagers. He got off scott free, and he admitted he was driving drunk. He didn’t even get a DUI.

Oh, don’t anyone send me any emails right now because I can’t get them till I get my own computer back. I am just hoping my server will get their act together and stop making my emails disappear.

Hi Siber – yup. unforturnatly the thing about Santa Fe doesn’t really surprise us. The nickname for SF is “The City Different”. We just call it Weirdsville. (Or Santa Fe Mark Up – depending on our mood)
Glad you checked in – Happy Non Email Easter!

Happy Easter, y’all! Mom just got back from church. She and my boy played handbells again this morning — an arrangement that included bits of the Hallelujah chorus, so it was pretty rousing. Is everyone all chocolate bunnied up today? Mom won’t let me have any of hers! It looks so good! Is chocolate really bad for dogs, or is that just the humans’ way of keeping it all for themselves???

Mom and Dad went to the sunrise service and now mom is making us a special breakfast. Just as soon as she finishes goofing off.

We are all starving. Even the Kats.

Wolfie: When the cubs were small mom would make plans every year to go to the Hollywood Bowl for the Easter Sunrise Service. Somehow we never woke up on time. But the memories have shifted over the years and now we actually remember the alternate senario. We were there and it was beautiful!

“Spring Spheres”? Are you joking? Eggs aren’t spheres! Laughing here.

I hope someone taped the bells KirbyT. I’d love to hear them again.

My sister has delivered Dan home. The egg hunt went well. The cousins are now putting the fencing up for the chicken coop. Turns out she’s getting the pullets today.

No! No! OleyHowlers and Siber-H, you may NOT help.

Happy Easter everyone!! Happy Internaional Day of the Dog
to all the members of the nation within a nation. This day calls for special treats for all us dogs.

T&G, Mom always tells people that are visiting here from other states to not buy jewelry or pottery in Santa Fe. They will pay too much for it. Santa Fe mark up for sure.

Happy Easter Everyone. Fun card, River Bear Newfs&Humans!

The Catty Librarian made biscuits today and hung sheets out on the line and is getting ready for work. Yep, her Library is open because Easter is not one of the 10 city holidays.

The big news is: next week she’s getting a New Kat. I might be able to retire!

Easter Eggs as Spring Spheres in Santa Fe? I think I must still be dreaming. Tell me it isn’t so!

Internationl Day of the Dog. Yes! Big Celebration for us all!Reading on “Dog Bless You” this morning: Dogs are believed to be the Guardians of the Human Spirit.

Basil&Sage: (from yesterday) Rebecca loved your idea of Chet & Whitey, in his red stripped jacket with the note on it, and the burled arch in the background, at the finish line in Nome. As did we.

Happy Easter and Happy Dog Day to everyone. Santa Fe, while interesting to visit, was always a bit weird for our tastes. And growing up in Albuquerque before Santa Fe became tres chic and trendy, my dad always referred to it as the dumpy State Capitol. We are having a relatively quiet Easter here — kind of worn out between the house guests all week and grandpa’s return. He is doing just amazing — able to walk up and down stairs now, so he can get to his normal bedroom and bathroom, and he did seven “loops” today with his rollater, which is probably slightly more than two miles. And his tummies proficiency is still primo. My dad just finished reading Hard Rain, which is one of PA’s earlier works (I think the fourth that he wrote). It was kind of confusing in the beginning, but he thought the ending was just terrific — he would highly recommend it (pllus the photo on the back of the hardback version is the one with the incredible sweater).
    Wookie
P.S. Rio — Your friend’s latest creation is really exquisite. My dad and I will bid on everything that she puts up in the auction.

Hi everyone – and Happy Dog Day! Mama is making dinner for the family, but she said we could be on the ‘puter while she gets the ham in the oven.
Librarian – we are all so glad you are getting a new kitty. Its important for fur and folks to interact. We will all be waiting to hear news about the new one – will it be a baby Kat? A rescue Kat? Basil and Sage want to know what color Kat. They say white with tiger patches is the best.
Melanie – glad the egg hunt went well. Looking forward to seeing YSAS in the new suit.
Wookie – so good to hear from you, especially with all the good news.
And Rio – we are intrigued. Haven’t figured it out yet, but its fascinating to watch it grow.
And we can’t wait for Barb and Maggie to get home and tell us if there are baby goaties.
Now, back to the kitchen for more cooking. Hope to be back late tonight.

Wookie!… Glad Grandpa is doing so well…snort!…That’s a huge relief for everyone. Don’t encourage my friend too much on her Projects…grunt!…Once she starts one she becomes possessed and can only think about the next part that needs to be made….snort!…I think she put it away for the day now because she has to order more paper…grump!….Here is what it looks like so far. I don’t like it very much right now at this stage….sniff!…And look there is a piece on the project that does not belong there on the 3rd V from the right. She much not have seen that when she took the photo. Thats the piece she was looking all over for earlier….growl!

Game!…I’m not talking about it. All was okay till that last Marlins hit…grump!

Wedding!…. This week on TLC it is Royal Fever or some such nonsense…groan!…I’m sure she will watch way too much of this crap. All those weddings look alike to me. All that money could have been used for something worthwhile instead of pampered princesses….sniff! ….Maybe I heard wrong, but I thought someone said Prince Williams wedding was going to cost 40 Million $$’s….grunt!… Can this be right?

  30. Siber-H
    7:40 pm on April 24th, 2011

I just read 32 million for the wedding, but it could cost the UK economy 50 billion. ee gads!!!

I will be spared all the wedding coverage cause mom won’t pay much attention to it, but we wish the Royal couple and the British economy well. I would have guessed it would
help the economy, but I would have guessed wrong.

  31. Riö - The Evil Pug

Cost!… I think the Royals will cover most of the cost of the wedding. I can only imagine it will be good for the British economy what with the publicity, tourists and all…snort!… I wonder what interest Natasha has in all this wedding stuff…hmmm!…That is the Big Question….chuffle!

Happy Dog Day! I’m going to bed. By the time the fence was done around the coop and YSAS came back, it was time to start cooking “My Ribs”. I video taped it. Now that is the one going on his website. We’re putting it up tomorrow.

The “Double Fried Tofu” is going on my youtube. Probably tomorrow. . . I don’t know though, his got a long list of things we’ve got to do.

Anyhoo, I want to put these recipes in “Dishlickers”. One problem . . .
He cooks by sight, taste and smell. He doesn’t use directions. How on earth am I going to figure out how to write this out?

Well take care all, I’m collapsing. TTFN

Barb is back, actually she has been back for a while, but she had chores, and had to let me out for awhile. Then she had to do some grass cutting, because it is supposed to rain for the next 3 days.

T & G and everyone who is interested. NO BABIES! Maybe that is good cause Barb wanted to be here, just in case.

Melanie, Is your sister, Martha (I remember from the book), getting baby chicks, or “pullets”? Pullets are young hens that are just starting to lay eggs, about 5 months old. Most people who are ordering from the catelogs order day old chicks. And yes, you can buy “straight run” which is unsexed chicks, or all male or all female. The hatcheries have specialists that “sex” the chicks and they are about 95% accurate. There are also hybrids that are sex-linked and all the boys will hatch out one color and all the girls another color. Don’t ask me how they do that. It has something to do with the genetics.

Yawwnnn – well we are all tired out here, Corgis, Kats and people. Gonna be following Melanie’s example and going to bed real soon!
On the Sunday Morning show this am, they talked about the big wedding too (of course). They did say something about 30 something million, but get this gang – most of it comes from the British tax payers! Can you imagine? This kind of foolish extravagance landing on the backs of folks who can’t afford it, all to keep up the worship of certain people just because they happened to be born into the right diaper.
Sheesh, these people don’t lead, they certainly don’t show any inordinate brain power or skill set. They are no better than Paris Hilton and her ilk, famous for being famous.
So why do the English, who are taxed to death, who have an exhorbitant cost of living forced on them, who have another actual government, WHY DO THEY ALLOW THIS???
Past pondering – we are BAFFLED!

Bizarre!… Beyond belief the whole King Queen thing still going on at the expense of the people…heh!…I guess they have never read the history books. Or they just feel Royalty is “their” thing and no one else can match it…huffle!… She has good friends who live in England and they have never said much on this subject. Rio – Mama has gone around in circles on this one with a friend of hers from England too. This woman will not become a citizen although she has lived here for 20 odd years. So, she can’t vote, but constantly carps on the government system, and defends the British royal system, even though she came here because the cost of living there was insufferable.

Wow, finally a chance to relax. Mom and Dad and our Angie went to church with Grandmother. I was ready to go, but somehow I was left behind. Later, they came back and WE HAD AN EGG HUNT! I figured out right away that if you bit down on the plastic eggs they would pop open and drop the treats. I probably had a little more than I should have before mom noticed that I was collecting a pile of opened eggs. Last year, everybody just went up and snouted the eggs, but this year we were all carrying them around in our mouths, except for Holly. Her little chihuahua/pug mouth couldn’t quite handle them. Plus she couldn’t breathe with one in her mouth. Angie made sure she got her fair share of the treats. What a day. All the junk food I could hunt down. *dainty burp*
