Morning all. Sully makes us proud of the nation within.
Frigid temperatures here so we are going to bark and romp and play like crazy today.
Mom is going to wear an Alaska jacket today.
    Happy Hump day to all.

Staff: The origin of the phrase “going to hell in a handbasket” is not known. Some speculate that it refers to death by the guillotine when the decapitated head fell into a basket. The alliteration (“hell” and “handbasket”) also gives it a “catchy ring.”

    Good morning all.

What a good and noble dog Sully is.

HRH,B: Interesting speculation regarding “hell in a handbasket.”

    Good day to all!

Just saw in the Iditarod news that all 53 mushers that have signed up for the race are rookies (have never completed the race). This could make the 2019 race very interesting.

HOH: I recall days that the race had 70+ racers. The Iditarod Board changed some of its board members and have also been addressing a lot of problems. I think one of the race’s biggest sponsors withdrew this year. The deadline to register is closed but if anyone decides to race, they will now need to pay double the entry fee …so would have to pay $8,000. I don’t think all are rookies as I recognize a lot of names and faces.
On another note, Dallas Seavey was cleared of charges that he had anything to do with drugging his dogs. He raced in Norway last year and hasn’t decided what he will do this year.

There have been a lot of funny Alaska earthquake memes but this one is one of my favorites:

Sully is a handsome sentinel and companion.

HOH: No, they are not all rookies. Ally Zirkle, Nicolas Petit, the twins and many others. The number of racers has certainly gone down but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Easier to keep track of all the teams.

    Hobbitz: (Laughing) humor helps.

Hobbitz and Dawson, I was just reporting what the Iditarod news said…can’t trust anyone. 😟

HOH: with all the ice we have been having (rain instead of snow), I am glad OFM is no longer training for the race.
Sadie demanded a walk today and we took our lives in our feet so to speak as the neighborhood is an ice rink and I no longer skate. I told her that we are not walking again until snow or spring, whichever comes first.

In the 20’s tonight 😞. Far cooler than usual for this time of year. Hobbitz and Sadie, skate safely. We are soooooo glad this icy weather is dry so no icy roads and walks.

Yaktraks work great and they fit over boots just fine. We used them on our winter trip to Yellowstone a few years back and they kept us on the icy boardwalks and not slipping into deadly hotpots.

Yak trax are great! Well worth the cost!

Thanks everyone. I am testing out various grippers. People up here seem yo love Ice Bugs. An additional problem is Sadie slipping and sliding and re-injuring her leg. Neither of us want to go through months of healing again.
