No Post!…Again!…grump!
9:34 am on June 27th, 2013
I agree with Rio.
Good morning all.
9:37 am on June 27th, 2013
RIO! You are on the right, and one of Chet’s New Friend’s might be your relative….
Good morning, HRH.
Have a pleasant day all!
10:19 am on June 27th, 2013
You can blame me. I thought it was wonderful that Finn and his mom do search and rescue. Most of the teams are volunteers, the dogs can be any size, AND Chet loves to look for missing people.
We taught Bess to search by scent. She was very good. She was GREAT if the person she was looking for had a hot dog with them. snicker. Newfs are so food motivated.
Commander Riö, I hope hou saw the recon pics Fanklin took for you.
10:29 am on June 27th, 2013
This is from Golinka. She took a picture of where a tree was holding the Super Moon.
10:57 am on June 27th, 2013
Good Morning All
Just a quick checkin. We will be back later in the day.
11:02 am on June 27th, 2013
Good Morning, Good Morning!
The ‘puter is up and running.
It’s going to be a Great Day!!
11:04 am on June 27th, 2013
Great photo of the Super Moon, Golinka.
Thanks for posting, Melanie.
11:11 am on June 27th, 2013
Those recoy or recon pics are making my mouth water for a Slim Jim.
11:13 am on June 27th, 2013
BEAR SPIRIT DOG!!!! We MISSED you!
That moon was so cool – just sitting on the top of the tree like a Christmas star.
Ok – we must have been reading every other word last night. Sharon said she has to make an emergency trip to join Daddy Dawg? We are concerned. Glad she got an ipaw and hope we hear from her soon
11:21 am on June 27th, 2013
Hi Bear! I missed you!
That picture the Royal Mum took is breathtaking!
Sammie, remember your movie-star figure….
11:23 am on June 27th, 2013
WAAAHHHH! I cannot open Finn and Susan’s link.
11:24 am on June 27th, 2013
I just received Rio’s friend’s quilling project and stand that I ordered from the boutique. I love the crystal beads and the color combination.
I also received Debbie’s quilted notebook cover with pad and pen. It’s lovely. I like having the pen hold right on front.
Thank you!
11:28 am on June 27th, 2013
That should be “pen holder.”
Welcome back BearSpiritDog.
That picture looks like a Christmas tree with the super moon as ornament on top rather than a star.
11:39 am on June 27th, 2013
Whoa! The wind has switched direction . . coming from Southwest instead of West. Does that mean Mary Poppins is coming to clean the house?
Have the swish swish sprinkler going as we have missed every storm in the last 3 days. I then tried to fix the soaker hose. Unfortunately, the man at our lumber storm only has one size of connectors, and they don’t fit.
Have to go down the hill to Our Favorite Hardware store. Mom and Pop operation and they have everything.
Rose, that is a mobile device link. Click it and then it will go to a place for desktop youtube. Click the link for Sue and Finn, Search and Rescue Team.
This Finn is not our Finn. Unless our Finn goes to S&R disguised as a bloodhound.
12:01 pm on June 27th, 2013
Happy Day, everyone!

That was a cool link. Finn says that, while that Finn is awesome, he doesn’t track per se as he is an Air Scent Dog; I send him out with a command and he runs like the wind to the source of the smell. Bloodhounds are phenomenal Tracking dogs, Newfies can’t be beat on water, and Labs/GSDs are your Air Scent people.
Here’s a Good Morning shot from my two.
12:18 pm on June 27th, 2013
Good morning or afternoon. Glad to hear from BSD.
We tried to click on the link, and then it asked if we wanted to install a program that would allow us to watch. Since it is not our Finn, we didn’t take it any further. It said there was a risk in allowing it. Boo
Just checked out a new book at the library called The Blessings of the Animals. Has anyone read it?
5 * inches of rain yesterday, now chance of more storms later today. Enuff already!
12:19 pm on June 27th, 2013
awwwww Good morning right back at ya Finn and Abi
12:19 pm on June 27th, 2013
Stover!…That is amazing that you received the package already…snort!…My friend says when she pays more for it to get there sooner it always takes longer. So this time she sent it cheaper and it got there quicker…sniff!…Go figure.
12:22 pm on June 27th, 2013
Hello to everyone!
Mom says she feels the best she has felt in days and days. It must be access to this here blog. Heh. Only thing is…the computer is upstairs…….
Herbs. I see you have been up to no good while we were MIA.
HOH: Good to hear you have means to communicate and hopefully we will hear from you very soon.
Safe trip to you.
An iPaw probably wouldn’t do us much good…what with the reception problemo here. And, then there is the cheapskate factor to be considered.
Finn & Abi, what handsome ones you are.
12:40 pm on June 27th, 2013
Rose & Barb: If you can’t get to Melanie’s featured link, try going to YouTube then select Sue & Finn.
Lots of rain here too, but also a few warm rays to warm up the afternoons. Temps in the 70’s. Nice.
CHobbit & Bella: Alaskan heat wave with mosquitoes…yikes!
12:40 pm on June 27th, 2013
I will make sure to video Finn at some point in time when training. I just haven’t done it as I’m training solo at this point.
Thank for the compliment, Masquers!
12:54 pm on June 27th, 2013
Welcome home, Bear and Masquers!!! You were greatly missed on this here blog.
Finn and Abi look so happy. We wish we could meet them in person.
B&S, we are wondering the same thing. We didn’t catch up until this morning, and we were alarmed reading of the HOH mama’s emergency trip.
1:20 pm on June 27th, 2013
Uh oh – Mama just got another package from her beloved Fire Mountain….she is gonna be just like a little kid with new toys. Guess we better go keep an eye on her.
(she also got the package of the Super Secret Beads that were donated by Fire Mountain for the Super Secret Project for the Big Auction. tee hee…..just wait till you see…..)
1:26 pm on June 27th, 2013
Just started Blessings of the Animals, and I think this wil be one that some of you will want to read. The main character is a woman vet from Ohio who has her own practice and assists with horse rescue. Sound good so far?
1:30 pm on June 27th, 2013
O’Howlers: That would be so much fun! Finn thinks everyone from the Nation Within are his buddies. Abi only likes the really calm ones as she gets scared very easily, but we are working on that.
2:01 pm on June 27th, 2013
I just got back from grocery shopping in 86 degree weather. Yuck. But I had been putting it off for two weeks.
Love the picture of Finn and Abi. They look so comfortable together.
Rio: The quilling project is superb! I have it on the table near my laptop so that I can keep looking at it.
2:45 pm on June 27th, 2013
Video Finn has ears after my own heart.
3:03 pm on June 27th, 2013
Charlie: All the better to track with.
B.Stover: Thank you very much. Abi is kennel training, so she sleeps in a covered kennel at night while Finn sleeps on the bed. By morning, she is practically vibrating and can’t wait to be with her big brother.
3:11 pm on June 27th, 2013
Kennel!…Beau came with his own kennel and fancy pad…snort!…I have no idea where that thing went to…heh!…Kennel training is not something I would ever put up with…grunt!
3:15 pm on June 27th, 2013
Stover!….So does this mean you will not be writing on the little note and putting it in the little envelope and giving the Card away as a gift?…sniff!
3:20 pm on June 27th, 2013
No, Rio, I’m not giving the quilling to anyone. It’s for me!
What is kennel training?
3:38 pm on June 27th, 2013
Boot-Camp!….It is when someone locks you up over-night or whenever they leave the house, in the kennel…grunt!…And you are supposed to learn to like it…bah-humbug!
3:44 pm on June 27th, 2013
SiberH!….Check your SDD when you get a free paw…sniff!
4:17 pm on June 27th, 2013
Rio, SDD checked and a short reply.
Welcome back Masquers and family!!
Fellow Sibers, Thanks for the photo and update on Cherokee. We are very thankful he is doing well.
4:26 pm on June 27th, 2013
Stover, Kennel training must be what mom calls crate training. Some people stow a dog in a crate at night time or when they go away for a few hours. If a person is going to make use of a dog crate the dog needs to be trained to be content in it. For some dogs, it gives them a sense of security to be in thier dog crate (kennel).
Mom has never used a dog crate.
4:26 pm on June 27th, 2013
Bee, Regardless of what Rio says, sometimes a crate or kennel can be a good thing. It can keep pups from getting into trouble or hurting themselves when their people are gone. We are believers in using a crate, but never over-using it or using it for punishment. Maggie doesn’t have one now, but when she was little she would go in it when I left. If she knew I was getting ready to leave, she would usually go and lay down it it with the door open. She was never confined to it when I was home.
The new book is very good! There is a fair amount of profanity in it, depending on who is doing the narration. That does not bother me, if it offends you, then you might want to pass.
4:48 pm on June 27th, 2013
We moved here to Silver Lake on the weekend. The lake was shimmering in the afternoon sun whilest brunch was enjoyed out on the deck. You will notice the glass of vino…s sure sign a good time was had by all.
4:51 pm on June 27th, 2013
Remember the crate training with Kat? She was having none of it!
4:55 pm on June 27th, 2013
Yeah. Kennel training is a good thing for us. Finn’s kennel is his haven and that’s where his bed is and where he keeps his fun toys and treats hidden from Abi. Abi loves hers as well, but doesn’t like it during the night. She hasn’t completely figured out potty training yet, so she gets her own little haven during the night that’s easier to clean up if an accident happens. During the day, she’ll go in to lay on her pillow and rest on her cooling pad.
4:57 pm on June 27th, 2013
Pretty lake, Masquers.
I gotta find a way to get to Barrow, Alaska. It is 102 degrees here now.
Rio, The Rockies game starts at 4:10.
4:58 pm on June 27th, 2013
Barb&Magpie: The New Book sounds very good. We will be reading it.
Chet (over on the right) says the African Wolf Dog is the only dog that Can’t Bark.

This little member of the nation within is NOT one of those…she’s definitely a barker.
Say hello to Fergie, a Wanna-Be-Royal.
5:06 pm on June 27th, 2013
Sam is a Reincarnation of his Namesake.

5:21 pm on June 27th, 2013
Barb!….Burp!
5:23 pm on June 27th, 2013
Last…but definitely not least…is Koha, the Black Lab.

5:26 pm on June 27th, 2013
Thanks for the explanations everyone.
5:32 pm on June 27th, 2013
Siber: I know you don’t like water, but the kool breezes by the lake are heavenly.
B: Wish y’all had our comfortable temps. We don’t even mind the rain.
5:36 pm on June 27th, 2013
Rio, You are excused!
Howler’s mom would like this book too. Part of it is about the animals she is involved with and part is about adjusting to a blindsided divorce the main character is going thru. You can tell the author is a very informed animal person. Already 1/4 way thru the book! Can’t put it down! BBL
5:37 pm on June 27th, 2013
BSD, Who are all these cute new critters?
5:40 pm on June 27th, 2013
Barb&Magpie: The Resident Animals at the new house.
5:51 pm on June 27th, 2013
Masquers: I’m glad you’re enjoying a lovely glass of wine.
5:52 pm on June 27th, 2013
Gooood something, everyone. Mom is in the bottom of the mitten, near South Bend, IN. She arrived in one piece but reports being “toooo pooooped to pop”. Daddy Dawg is ok. His oldest friend since childhood’s youngert brother comitted suicide yesterday. Mom went up for moral support and the services. She told us that the daddy showed up with ipaw toooo! Wowser, maybe he’ll hepl her learn it.
Having dinner with Daddy’s oldest brother then mom wii get back here and check in.
6:19 pm on June 27th, 2013
HOH – We are sorry that your Mom and Daddy Dawg have sorrow to deal with. But we are happy that they are together to give each other support.
BSD – that lake looks just lovely. The glass of wine is the perfect added touch.
Ahem – we have a small announcement to make. You may (or may not) remember that Mama designed some mugs of interest to those of Plundering nature. They have arrived. And thanks to a timely coupon (and Mama’s inherently frugal nature) they came in much cheaper than originally thought.
Some are already spoken for, but there are still some available for $11.00 each, which includes the shipping to your home. (the actual cost) We will post the picture of the front and back. If you would like one, please send Mama an email.
By the way – one of the people who reserved a mug mentioned that since they did come in less expensive, she was going to send a matching donation to Snowhook. just sayin…….

aaarrrrggggghhhhhh – sideways pics……arrrgggghhhhhh
6:29 pm on June 27th, 2013
HOH, we are so very sorry for your mom and dad’s loss. This will be heartbreaking for them. Tell them that we are sending much love and positive thoughts their way.
B&M, Mom has assed Blessings of the Animals to her “To Read” list on Goodreads. Thanks for the tip.
Bear and Masquers, tell us about your new home! Is it close to your old home? Whose beautiful 4-leggeds are those?
6:30 pm on June 27th, 2013
If I didn’t say it earlier, thank you for the thought, Melanie. It’s nice that you thought of those in the Nation who do other things besides catching bad guys and pulling sleds :). I’m trying to get a friend to help me video and maybe I’ll be able to put a quick video up online with Finn doing a quick search.
6:32 pm on June 27th, 2013
Mom is laughing her head off at our slip of the paws. “Assed” was supposed to be “added”. She is not buying it. Make her stop laughing at us!
6:38 pm on June 27th, 2013
Latest missive from mom’s friend Kandy, of the suburban farm.
“As I stood upon the balcony of my domain , through the cool of the morning mist , I gazed out across the green carpeted grounds that lay before me .
My heart filled with both awe and remorse , as my eyes took in the site of my mighty mastiffs.
They stood in the morning haze looking proud and fatigued. The fluid from their most recent kill covered their bodies and dripped from their mouths . The female mastiff then lay herself down in sheer exhaustion beside the mighty and powerful male, both content and drained from the exertion of the kill . Defeat would not have been an option for such powerful animals . Their prey had no chance , for the mastiffs had learned and developed their skills in the hunt , regardless of my efforts to end their lust for needless destruction.
I am sure they felt pride in themselves , But I felt remorse, remorse for what once was and shall never be again.
Torn into pieces, its long, sleek ,serpent like shape no longer resembled its once true form. I called to my protectors and they turned to me. Their eyes searching mine, wondering if I too would feel the pride of their kill or if they would feel the scorn of my harsh words .
They watched me closely but I did not speak , The only thought that came to me was
“nuts, my husband is going to be so pissed off about another destroyed garden hose”
6:48 pm on June 27th, 2013
Macy – good one.
HOH- we’re 2 1/2 hours from S. Bend, but know now is not the time for visiting. Wishing you and yours peace and a safe return home.
6:50 pm on June 27th, 2013
Macy: the story had me going there. Loved the ending.
Did everyone read the news items about small children’s writings about what they wanted to be when they grew up? One of the little boys said that he wanted to be a dog when he grew up. 🙂
I think I first wanted to be a farmer because I loved animals so much. The problem was that stories never had farmers who were female. I also realized that I would be adopting all the animals as pets so that probably wouldn’t work out well.
7:04 pm on June 27th, 2013
Macy, LOL!
We watched Under the Dome first episode last night, and we really liked it. Did any of youse watch it?
7:08 pm on June 27th, 2013
Greetings! I love all the pictures!
Bear and Masquers, I am so glad you are back. Your new home is just lovely!
HOH, sending peaceful thoughts to you and your family.
RIO! My package arrived today, too. Please check your SDD when able.
7:14 pm on June 27th, 2013
Macy: I Loved your Story and was Surprised at the Ending.
O’Howlers: Nana is loving it. A large house not too fur from Home Base. Near to Everything!
The photos are of the Grand’s companions.
We did watch Under the Dome and are looking forward to the next week’s episode.
Hounds: Sorry to hear of your Mom and Daddy Dawg’s sadness. It is good they are together.
Tupper&Gilly: The Mug is a Must Have!
7:17 pm on June 27th, 2013
O’Howlers, we loved Under the Dome. Molly’s Mom read the book – 1088 pages!
7:18 pm on June 27th, 2013
Good one Macy!
Oleys, we were wondered what assed was supposed to be. We were thinking maybe passed, not sure. Added is good.
So, BSD, all those guys live in one house?
7:23 pm on June 27th, 2013
ATTENTION! ATTENTION!
I have a very important announcement to make, and I’m so excited, I am skipping, and twirling, and eating strawberry licorice in celebration!
A very awesome donation to the Have Harness, Will Travel fund has come in from our very own Batgirl, Dawson.
What’s this I hear? Why is Dawson’s donation so awesome you ask?
Because Dawson’s donation has hit the Magic Number , which will earn her a Very special prize , that I am sure the lovely redhead Kat, and my cold weather loving pal Siber-H will tell you is very special indeed.
Dawson, you are gonna love it! Come out of your bat cave so we can give you a standing-O!
7:25 pm on June 27th, 2013
HOH, We are sorry for your loss.
A lovely day here. Windy enough that the biting flies and mosquitoes are blown away.
7:27 pm on June 27th, 2013
OOOO Dawson won a prize. Yippee. I wonder if she knows yet? Maybe I should call her…snicker.
7:29 pm on June 27th, 2013
Heh, She is checking the blog now….wait for it.
7:33 pm on June 27th, 2013
Hurray for Dawson! We are skipping and twirling for her. She is going to love this prize!!!
For all of you who have never really gotten a chance to see a Sibe blow our coat, check this out. Heh heh!

7:35 pm on June 27th, 2013
Dawson, Congratulations!!!
Thank you for your donation. The doggies really need new harnesses.
7:37 pm on June 27th, 2013
O’Howlers: That is really something! Grizz wants to know how that happens…
Is it like the film Invasion of the Body Snatchers? You just step out of your coat?
7:37 pm on June 27th, 2013
Fellow Sibers, Do we know that Sibe?
7:40 pm on June 27th, 2013
Oops! Siber-H, I forgot to tell you to check your SDD when able.
7:43 pm on June 27th, 2013
We do not know that Sibe but we think the picture is a hoot! Wose, believe us, we don’t just step out of these undergarments. We let bits and pieces of tumbleweeds lay around the house for weeks and weeks. Also, Mom sheds us outside under the maple tree. When friends drop by, they look for the sheep they are sure we sheared.
7:44 pm on June 27th, 2013
Aw Shucks!
Really?
Yippee!
Hoorah!
I’m doing a jig!
7:46 pm on June 27th, 2013
Dawson: Will you SDD me with your Batcave address?
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
7:47 pm on June 27th, 2013
I had a crate when I was a baby. I did not like it, but Mommy says that I most certainly was not well-educated enough to have run of the house when she went to work. What I did like about my crare though, was that it was mine mine mine. I went in there to eat in peace, without worrying about Mama Meash and Daddy Dim, and I went in there when the rest of the family watched t.v. and I wanted some peace so I could relax. I wonder what ever happened to that den of mine?
7:50 pm on June 27th, 2013
Kat: Sometimes I wish I had a crate so I could have some alone time.
7:51 pm on June 27th, 2013
What a fun evening on the blog –
Macy – we loved your friend’s story. Even Gramp laughed out loud – and he never laughs.
And Howlers – that is tooooo funny. We want Mama to do a Corgi photo like that.
We’re glad you like the mugs. 8 of the 10 are spoken for. As soon as we get some boxes we will get them shipped off to you.
7:59 pm on June 27th, 2013
RIO?
8:01 pm on June 27th, 2013
Whew, by the time I caught up there were 8 new posts!
O’Howlers, snort! Zoe and the Raven stayed over at a friend’s house for two nights. Those friends did not have dogs. By the end of the stay, the friend had dog hair!
I was able to finish all the watering before the rain gusher started. Sigh . .
It was so bad that we lost contact with the TV satellite. No thunder or lightening. Just rain.
When OTAS started college he went to the community college here. He created a metal fish sculpture to serve as a bird house. This year’s bird is coming up. I don’t know what it is, but dog, those babies are loud when the parents bring food.
8:02 pm on June 27th, 2013
Next two are of the bird . .
8:03 pm on June 27th, 2013
8:05 pm on June 27th, 2013
FinnDogsMom, I have always wished to do Search and Rescue. Alas, it is not to be . .
Please do a video. I can live vicariously.
8:06 pm on June 27th, 2013
One more . . Macy, that was wonderful. I can’t wait to read it to Zoë tomorrow.
Time to do the laundry.
8:12 pm on June 27th, 2013
Yipppeeee!….Dawson is our newest Winner!….Woooooo!….She and all the other donors so far deserve a big THANKS!…snort!

Did you all hear that? The sound of one Pug clapping.
8:15 pm on June 27th, 2013
Bird-House!….That is a HUGE birdhouse…snort!…Or a very tiny little bird…heh!
8:31 pm on June 27th, 2013
Rose!…So very glad your package arrived unscathed…snort!snort!…Check your SDD when you have calmed down from all the excitement of Dawson winning BIG!….chuffle!
8:39 pm on June 27th, 2013
MacyMinPin: The missive from the suburban farm was scary/hilarious. That poor hose.
BearSpiritDog&Masquers: Love your resident critters. It’s great to hear your voices again.
Finn’sMom: Yes please, video of Finn. The imposter this morning confused my head of little brain.
Melanie: That is a cute little noisemaker and a very interesting bird house.
Rio: Thanks for all that clapping. Now how do you get the words to go all the way across the page? Many thanks to you and Rose for crunching the numbers. I’m extremely excited to win a prize!
8:41 pm on June 27th, 2013
RIO! Checked . Bedtime now.
8:41 pm on June 27th, 2013
RIO!!! Mom went out to get the mail just now. The magnets have safely arrived!! We love them! They are so cute and go perfectly with my coloring. Thank You!!
WOO WOO
8:42 pm on June 27th, 2013
Cup!…Our cups runneth over tonight!…snort!….That Plunderer cup is the BEST!…Wow!…Dawson – Rose and I will try to coordinate our trips to the postal office so you will be receiving TWO! packages hopefully at around the same time…heh!
8:42 pm on June 27th, 2013
Wooo Dawson!!!
Tupper&Gilly: Youse are the Best (and also very funny).
8:44 pm on June 27th, 2013
SiberH!….This is downright amazing. When Imy friend sends you and Stover stuff the more expensive way it takes longer…heh!…No more of that – Cheap is the way to go from now on…snort!
8:45 pm on June 27th, 2013
Howlers: Yep. That’s how it looks. This is the Season of the Dog (fur)
8:46 pm on June 27th, 2013
HOH’s Mama & Daddy Dawg: Nice that you are together to support each other and more who are left behind.
8:50 pm on June 27th, 2013
Rio: I’ve long been a fan of surface mail. If you spend money for the priority service, a disgruntled employee hides it in the corner for a couple weeks or pokes it with a sharp stick or some such thing.
O’Howlers: I must admit I howled with embarassment at your typo. Funny!
8:59 pm on June 27th, 2013
Bluekat: Thanks for the invite, I appreciate it. Another time for sure.
Macy: Still chuckling about the dreaded hose 🙂
OH: That foto is what the Daddy Dawg calls a “build a better dog kit”.
9:00 pm on June 27th, 2013
IMHO I think you guys should go with the cheapest way to send the packages.
9:02 pm on June 27th, 2013
We are getting the hook! Good night all!
9:03 pm on June 27th, 2013
SiberH!…From here on out we here are believers in First Rate…heh!…Sometimes it is not available though and we are stuck with the higher postal cost…sniff!
9:07 pm on June 27th, 2013

Melanie, Your bird is a house wren. Lots of them here. They are way nosier than they are big.

Barb and Maggie,
Read this and you will never look at that tiny little wren the same way again. A friend who loves purple martins told me this. Was I ever surprised.

Staff, it is a House Wren. I don’t think it is bothering any other nests. The Robins are okay. There is also another bird nesting under one of thr outside rafters. I haven’t seen that one though.
The House Wren migrates a long way to get here for the summer.
I need to go to bed. Zoe doesn’t have her AC on. I wonder how many dogs will end up in my room.
HOH’s Ma and Paw, i’m glad ou cam be together at this time.

I used to have a friend who had a purple martin house. He had a buzzer rigged up in it and every time a sparrow or wren went in her buzzed the heck out of them.
11:28 pm on June 27th, 2013
Buzzed!…Do purple martins hate sparrows and wrens?…sniff!…I do not understand why a bird-house would have a buzzer…heh!

Oh, and Macy, one can never be too careful with garden hoses lurking about ready to pounce on the unsuspecting.

Rio – no, it is not cooling off. It is so humid that even the walls feel damp. Ick
Macy – do you suppose we could get one of those buzzer things that would scare off Wrotten Kats?

I do agree with all the ideas you have introduced to your post. They are really convincing and can certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are very short for novices. Could you please extend them a bit from next time? Thank you for the post.
