Stephen King/Entertainment Weekly
“Hey,” says Spence. “We seem to have made Stephen King’s Entertainment Weekly recommended summer reading list. It’s in the June 3 issue.”
“Don’t interrupt,” says Admin. “I’m planning my funeral music.”

Is Admin bored?
This is great new about the reading list!
And he’s planning his funeral music???
Well, other than Admin, everyone have a great day!
9:15 am on May 28th, 2011
Good Morning Melanie!
Just goes to show Stephen King has excellent taste!
Greetings to All, and have a great holiday weekend!

Rio:
You don’t cuddle because you haven’t cuddled with me yet. I am an excellent cuddler of four-leggeds…
9:23 am on May 28th, 2011
Rio – I saw in our newspaper this morning about 17 – 25 feet of snow on the hills in Denver. Will that affect your camping trip?
9:28 am on May 28th, 2011
Siber and Rio:
The Breaking Bad start day was listed in the June3/10 issue of Entertainment Weekly (the same issue where Stephen King gave props to Spence on his summer reading list). The article also includes a little catch-up on the characters. Maybe your friend could pick up the issue for you!

Waiting to hear what B has to say.
Hello to Rose, Melanie & MollyPop!
A Good Morning to All!
9:42 am on May 28th, 2011
Stephen King has been on the back covers of C & B books. He seems to be a big fan.
We were up at 5:30 having coffee then out to the garden before it rains.
Dish guy coming at 10:00. He says we were indeed in violation of FCC codes, and to be grandfathered, it would have to go back 8-9 yrs. He says it is due to news and weather warnings, etc. So we are SOL! At least we should be functioning later this morning.
Regarding last night’s posts, BSD, we don’t really care what energy form you are in, we like you.!
Speaking of like, we hope T & G’s mom and dad have a good weekend at the show.
10:20 am on May 28th, 2011
Good luck Barb & MagPie! Hope he arrives at 10 AM and not PM
Our hills are giving us our own little weather pattern. Clouds! So it’s 74 right now instead of 89!
Preening the feathers!

10:33 am on May 28th, 2011
WHAT is Admin talking about?
11:11 am on May 28th, 2011
Wha!?….What the hell!!!….grump!… I wish Admin wouldn’t kid about such things. It’s not funny…snort!
Stephen!…King! He seems to be a big fan of the Charming Mr. Abrahams…snort!…He even reads the middles school books…heh!…I think since his near-death experience he has mellowed quite a bit. Or at least enjoys his time on this earth a little more each day…sniff!
Flooding!… We are expecting flood waters once it warms up enough to melt all that snow in the mountains…grunt!…I’m sure I will be nice and dry on my couch or out on the patio….sniff! …As for the camping trip, nothing can stop us come Hell or High Water!…heh!
11:15 am on May 28th, 2011
I’m going to Barnes and Noble to try to get Entertainment Weekly. Taking my camera to see if I can get the pictures that I missed yesterday.
What was Stephen King’s near-death experience?
Forgot to say (because of Admin’s statement) good morning all.

Bear: That’s so funny!!
11:35 am on May 28th, 2011
Steven King’s lists of what to read and his blurbs on books have actually influenced my mom to go ahead and read the book, if it a book she was considering anyway. I am sure that my mom is not the only one that does this. King’s blurb on Spences’s books had no influence on my mom, she would have bought the first one anyway…just reading the first page of Dog On It in the bookstore and my mom knew she would love the book.
11:38 am on May 28th, 2011
Stover, Stephen King was mowed down by a car when he was taking a walk. The driver was distracted by his dog…King was very seriously injured.
11:39 am on May 28th, 2011
We don’t understand the funeral music reference either.
Dish guy is here working away. BBL
11:46 am on May 28th, 2011
I hope Mr. King doesn’t mind me spelling his first name two different ways.
Stover, King was an English teacher before his books started selling.
Now mom is going to be checking to see what his summer reading list is.
When we go on our camping trip, snow is fine with me…just thought I’d throw that in.
11:55 am on May 28th, 2011
Bear, that is a very cute photo!
12:11 pm on May 28th, 2011
Good morning everyone. It is very nice here so far and I had a lovely nap on Staff. She doesn’t usually stay in the good chair long enough for a nap.
She also brought in some lilies of the valley and lilacs for Grandma Maggie to sniff and won’t let Alice have them. Alice is pissed.
tee hee.
Admin you are a strange guy sometimes. So what is your funeral music going to be?
12:21 pm on May 28th, 2011
Admin: I understand.
12:42 pm on May 28th, 2011
Jesse is here again today.
So far: YSAS and Jesse have
moved the dog grooming table to it’s summer location (on deck out of house)
put up a heavy duty railing for Dan to be able to go out and in without supervision
paint the railing the same color as the house
move a HUGE rock, 50 feet, to use as a step (needed pry bar, chain and leverage)
mow the lawn.
We are getting so much done !!!!
12:45 pm on May 28th, 2011
Bear and Admin:
I remember when OTAS was a teenager and heard bagpipes. He told me, “Make sure those play at my funeral.” I looked at him and said in a loving kind way, “Dear, I plan to go first.”
There was shock on his face!
12:45 pm on May 28th, 2011
Cemetary!….We are headed to the cemetery (not Pet Cemetery!) and then to a baby shower…snort!…Seems kind of fitting today…grunt!
Bling!…My friend painstakingly got the Bling on the Auction Item…heh!…She was a nervous wreck!…hehheh!
1:07 pm on May 28th, 2011
Stephen King is a Master of the Macabre – we are happy he lived to tell the tale(s).
1:41 pm on May 28th, 2011
Hello to all,
We have not yet had a chance to catch up on yesterday’s blog, as Mom had to do a lot of work, and Pop is still on crutches, so we Howlers had to keep busy on our guard duties.
We think we understand what you mean Admin, but stop worrying.
Our mom wants bagpipes too…what are they?
1:50 pm on May 28th, 2011
Bear and Howlers: If you understand Admins statement, please explain.
1:55 pm on May 28th, 2011
We think he just means with Spence being so popular, PA won’t be putting out many books. Don’t you think thats all he means?
2:02 pm on May 28th, 2011
If that’s what Admin means, it’s unworthy of him.
Here’s Stephen King’s summer reading list (and he uses “read” as a noun):
Buried Prey by John Sandford
Robopocalypse by Daniel H. Wilson
The Five by Robert McCammon
The Fifth Witness by Michael Connelly
The Sentry by Robert Crais
The Silent Land by Graham Joyce
The Cypress House by Michael Koryta.
Dog on It by you know who
The Accident by Linwood Barclay
Case Histories by Kate Atkinson
A Test of Wills by Charles Todd
The Terror of Living by Urban Waite
2:04 pm on May 28th, 2011
BearSpiritDog: The picture almost made me choke on my Cheerios.
Good morning or afternoon as the case may be.
2:10 pm on May 28th, 2011
Yeah, Bear that picture was great!
B: We doubt that Admin was serious. Just alluding to the fact that Spence has become so big.
And how can Dog on it be on this summer’s reading list? That was several summers ago, and we do not have a C&B to read this summer. What kind of summer will this be? We are just about finished reading Last of the Dixie Heroes tho.
2:23 pm on May 28th, 2011
Thanks Stover, If someone reads Dog On It, they are certain to get hooked and read the rest of the books, so maybe it is good that King started with the first Chet book.
2:29 pm on May 28th, 2011
I agree with Rose, Mr. King must have good taste if Spencer’s book is on his reading list. Think SK would visit the blog?—could bring a whole new meaning to going to the dark side.
B&M: Did I miss any news about the expectant goat or is she still holding out?
Preparing for another day in the mid 80s. Nice for the two-leggeds, not so much for the arctic breed four-leggeds.
2:29 pm on May 28th, 2011
King lists the first Atkinson book also. He says that people should start with the first one.
Thanks for the info on him SH.
2:38 pm on May 28th, 2011
Rebecca, I read your post from last night…Yes!! Yes!! Yes!!
AJ can become a full time musher!! WOO WOO Hold onto that Dream! I don’t have to be there to know that you work just as hard as AJ and the team to get them all to the starting line in March.
4:14 pm on May 28th, 2011
B. We are going with the O.Howler’s explanation of Admin’s cryptic remark.
Barb&Magpie: Trusting this mornings visit from the Dish tech guy brought the desired result (at least as far as could be accomplished) and also that the lawn mower has been repaired.
4:18 pm on May 28th, 2011
Howlers: Whether Admin was serious or not, “he” needs to keep in mind that the popularity and quality of one does not diminish the popularity and quality of the other.
(I don’t want “him/them” to stop writing under either name. Conan Doyle got tired of Sherlock and Christie got tired of Poirot. That shouldn’t happen here.)
5:36 pm on May 28th, 2011
I hope he not only keeps on writing as Peter/Spence, but he could add another dude to write as!!!
Pool is getting there. YSAS is making a rest spot for the dogs in the pool.
6:00 pm on May 28th, 2011
We are happy, everything is operational again. Dish tech guy says it is indeed against FCC regulations for us to have Chicago channels. He claims part of it is the weather alerts. He moved the dish (trees have grown) and he says we are going to get far better reception now. Guess we have to live without our Chicago news till we move back closer.
Rececca, No you didn’t miss any delivery notices. It has to be soon – her bag is now so full she isn’t able to walk normally. Barb says she may actually try some goat milk after Sandy has her baby. Some people say it is very good and others say yuck! We might do a little research too and see how difficult it is to make goat cheese. Stormy will not let anyone milk her, but we think Sandy will, so we’ll see.
Bear, that pictures is perfect after last night’s post from a certain someone!
6:11 pm on May 28th, 2011
YSAS is on a mission.
Six PVC parts were labeled incorrectly at the store. Of course, NO ONE HAS ANYMORE!
He is now trying Sears. They have everything, right?
I’m resting and watching The Closer.
Contrats on the dish!!
7:05 pm on May 28th, 2011
What does PVC mean?
7:34 pm on May 28th, 2011
Bee, PVC is that white plastic plumbing pipe you see everywhere. Used often for waste pipe too. PVC is short for some long name, probably starting with poly.
8:10 pm on May 28th, 2011
PVC stands for polyvinyl chloride. It is a Thermoplastic polymer, whatever that means. And a big hat tip to Mr. Google for that. Wookie
8:56 pm on May 28th, 2011
Thanks B&M and Wookie.
9:18 pm on May 28th, 2011
I just came from the feed store and someone had a puppy chocolate lab with them. Puppy bellies are impossible not to love.
Quiet night on the blog.
Wookie: hope you’re doing well!

Long Days Journey!….snort!….What a long day we have had. First the cemetery, they do not look kindly on my kind there…sniff!…Then off to an ancient Aunts house to pick her and her big ole oxygen tank up….grunt!…Do you guys remember Aunt Lily? The one who slapped my friends dad awake on his death bed last summer so he could say one last Hello to everyone there?…snort!…Well, that’s the old Aunt we picked up today to take to the baby shower….gurgle!…Then off to the Baby/BBQ shower. What a great time we had! The food was awesome and everyone wanted to feed me….sniff!…I allowed a few to pet me and avoided all the kids…grunt! …. Hours later we came home to find out a realtor wanted to meet us over at my house, so off we went to talk to her…heh! …That took a good hour or more. So now we are back at her mother’s place and just sitting down to relax and watch Raiders Of the Lost Ark…snort!
9:23 pm on May 28th, 2011
Wookie!…He is first a Special Agent and second a walking dictionary….heh!
9:27 pm on May 28th, 2011
A special agent and a walking dictionary—a dangerous combination.
9:32 pm on May 28th, 2011
Finale!….Tomorrow morning is the big day!….snort!snort!….She has been stealing herself getting ready for the big Finish….woooo!… There is now a full blown plan as to how to get an extremely large, fragile, bejeweled quilling project into its final resting place without causing any stress that could damage the project….grunt!… The plan is in place, she just has to execute it exactly (or else!)…sniff! …. She probably won’t sleep tonight thinking about it…heh!heh!
Rebecca!…Wookie is The Most Interesting Guy In The World…heh!
9:52 pm on May 28th, 2011
Interesting!…That theory about Admin not writing anymore of his most excellent psychological thrillers because Spence has out done him. I don’t ever see that happening, not until he takes his last breath on this good earth…snort! …The last interview he gave, he said he still wanted to write adult fiction. Now unless something big has changed, I have to believe that is still true…grunt!
Oley!…We here are reading Last Of The Dixie Heroes…snort!….Last year we started it and could not finish because of some very over-whelming and stressful family stuff going on at the same time. The book was too intense and we had to lay it aside, till now…snorkel!
9:57 pm on May 28th, 2011
I just saw the commercial where Alice is driving and a dog is chasing her in another car. Wow! Alice is a very good driver.
10:02 pm on May 28th, 2011
Sammie!….That’s not Alice, that’s her stunt double!…heh!…Just like you will have a stunt double once that movie gets under way…snorkel!

Hello gang – just a quick check in before we head to bed.
Rio – thanks for the good thoughts for the show – we will take all good thoughts we can get.
Mama left about 6 am to go fisnish the set up. It was hot and impossibly muggy, so she and Dad both looked like wilted flowers before the show even started. But they had a good day. And guess what, guess what? Mama says Gilly and I can go to the show with them tomorrow. Its the short day and their booth is on grass, so they know we will just lie down under the table and be good. (especially since they are bringing our bones for us!)
Keep good thoughts going for no rain.
The show is amazing – there are artists from MAchu Pichu, Ruwanda, Kenya, Ecuador, Tibet, Mexico and all sorts of other places. Its wonderful and colorful and noisy and musical and happy. Wish you all could be there.
Mama says if we aren’t exhauseted when we get home tomorrow, we call tell you about our day at the show.
G’night all.
10:08 pm on May 28th, 2011
Books!…This weekend she will be ordering more books for us to read and Kate Atkinson’s, Case Histories, will be on the list for sure….heh!…Also, another Alexander McCall Smith’s will be ordered too!….sniff!….We love, love, love The Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency….snorkel!…It’s set in Africa and magical!…heh!
10:10 pm on May 28th, 2011
TUPPER!….You guys have to take some photos for all of us here…dammit!…We want to see the color, the art work, the music, the FOOD, etc!….sniffle!
10:19 pm on May 28th, 2011
Snuff!…Awww well, everyone is in bed already…grunt!…So much for late night long weekend fun…sniff!…Unless I want to talk to myself….sigh!
10:22 pm on May 28th, 2011
I agree with Rio—pitures of the art show are in order.
10:27 pm on May 28th, 2011
Art!….At least one of Tupper and Gilly laying in the shady grass doing nuthing constructive…heh!
10:27 pm on May 28th, 2011
Rio and Rebecca. You are both making me blush and that is very hard for a golden retriever to do.
Rio. You need to get out your happy bob. The Rockies broke out of their slump big time and clobbered the Cardinals 15-4. Woo. Woo. Rockies. Wookie
10:31 pm on May 28th, 2011
Dear Rio,
Yes we are going to bed too. Dawson has to be up at 3:30 in the morning to get to the airport to catch her plane. The turtleman will be taking her to the airport so I don’t have to get up but I usually want one more hug before she leaves.
Sniff. I will really miss her.
So goodnight to you and Rebecca
10:33 pm on May 28th, 2011
Wookie: I thought about you last week. One of my bosses brought in her golden and I took her, the golden not the boss, out for a bathroom break. While out and about Kayla noticed a dead pigeon on the otherside of the fence. “Must…have…it…!!!” she cried as I, holding onto her leash struggled to stay up right and stay on my respective side of the fence.
After a bit more conversation and reasoning with Kayla it was determined that the pigeon would stay where it is and for her pain and suffering should would be supplied with a treat once we returned to the office.
10:34 pm on May 28th, 2011
Believe it or not the Twins won 1-0 over the LA Angeles in the 10th inning. I think we have another one run streak going here!
10:38 pm on May 28th, 2011
Staff: I just realized that your quilt square/avatar looks like our dear dog, Charlie. 🙂
10:40 pm on May 28th, 2011
Wookie!…You are a mind reader as well!…heh!…I was just thinking about the Rockies and wondering how they did today without me….snort!…Well, well, well….I hope this bust-out-of-the-slump is for real this time…woooo!…Thanks for telling me the good news…
Wooooo!
Alice….Goodnight Alice…snort!…Don’t choke to death on any yellow hair balls…sniff!
Rebecca!…You should ask Wookie about the Squirrel or is it a Raccoon? Who raids his trash barrels looking for gourmet left-overs…heh!
10:49 pm on May 28th, 2011
Squirrels or raccoon? Either way, I suspect the marauding goats to be behind the raids.
Rio: I am excited to see your friend’s finished quilling project.
10:50 pm on May 28th, 2011
Charlie!…Is Charlie the Earodynamic guy?….heh!… I think some here are gathering to sponsor him. Is he on the Iditarod team next year?…sniff!
10:52 pm on May 28th, 2011
Yes, Charlie’s speed is increased by the earodynamic nature of his ears. He was a yearling last year when he crossed the finish line and we expect him to be a contender for the Iditarod team in 2012. He is a love.
10:58 pm on May 28th, 2011
Auction!….Well, Rebecca, you may be the second to see it after Melanie’s photo enhancement therapy…heh!…She here has decided everyone probably has had enough of her insecurity regarding this project and should be spared more visual contact till the actual auction occurs …grunt!…She is happy with her choice of limited bling, that’s all I can say right now…sniff!
Goats!….They will be a source of unending stress and worry during the final phase of the Auction when all the donors are mailing their Items to the winners …wuffle! …Marauding Goats are the bain of my existence…grrrrr!
11:06 pm on May 28th, 2011
Well, I for one enjoy seeing the pictures of the project in the different stages, but I will be patient until it is finished. Rio, please do me a favor and avoid snorting, snuffing, huffing and sneezing near, around, or on the quilling project.
Maybe I’m a bit naive, but may be we could call a truce with the MGs until all auction items are shipped?
It’s a quiet night here at the kennel. We were told that a junked truck has a front seat that might fit our dog truck—our’s leaves the hind quarters of a certain musher wanting a bit more comfort. It is free for the taking so AJ is out and about with his toolbox and likely using colorful language.
11:14 pm on May 28th, 2011
Goats!….Marauding Goats do not negotiate time or terms…huffle!puffle!….They do their most destruction when a very valued item is shipped to a very valued person or guy ..sniff!…That’s when they strike! They sense the importance of the item being mailed and wait for it, and then blatantly TAKE IT from the mail box (s)….yeep! …I’ve seen this happen time after time again. It is horrible! …wuffle!
PS: I’m glad AJ might be getting more room for his butt…heh!
11:18 pm on May 28th, 2011
Dern goats.
I am going to go do dog chores so likely everyone, and by everyone I mean Rio, will have turned in for the night.
Night, Rio.
11:27 pm on May 28th, 2011
Wound!…I don’t know she is pretty wound up tonight what with all the info the realtor told us and she is still trying to digest…grunt!…Life could get real interesting real quick around here, all she has to do is make a decision…sniff!…Rent or Sell?…I say Rent!….gruff!…I want to be a Land Lord Pug!…woooo!…Kick some ass and get paid doing it..sniff!….Apparently, there is more demand for Rental Properties than there is for homes for Sale…grunt!…So we could more easily Rent my home, hopefully to a respectable person(s) and wait for the housing market to improve…wuffle!
11:35 pm on May 28th, 2011
I was going to say earlier (but forgot) that I hoped the meeting with the real estate agent was good news…sounds like it was less than stellar. Renting to a respectable person(s) is the key, heh?
Dog chores are done. All are fed, watered, scooped, loved and loved again.
11:40 pm on May 28th, 2011
Rebecca. What Rio is referring to is a raccoon (we called him Rocky, after the Beatles song, and not to be confused with Rocky the undercover squirrel) that would periodically raid our garbage cans. Rocky was always very neat, just making a small hole in the garbage bag, just removing whatever he felt like eating, and always finding a cork from a wine bottle as well (he seemed to have a real preference for Austalian Shiraz wine corks). A real gourmand was that raccoon Rockie. Wookie
11:42 pm on May 28th, 2011
Wookie: Sounds like Rockie is one of distinguished taste.
11:49 pm on May 28th, 2011
AJ is home which is good, but he is going to be upset that I lifted the bag of dog food. Better go out and (not) explain and utilize that sassy walk that Tupper and Gilly recommend.
11:49 pm on May 28th, 2011
Renting!….Rebeccer, you guys sort of live in “Never Never Land.” Down here some of us are still dealing with a 20 – 30 percent loss in our home values…grunt…probably more….She put so much money down when she bought the place and so much money into fixing up my house that she cannot and will not except a 40,000.00 loss right now…groan!…So maybe renting for a year or more will buy time for the market to improve…chuffle! …Anyone have any better ideas?…heh!
12:04 am on May 29th, 2011
Good night!…heh!…She used to call Cassie The Butt Sniffing Dog, Missy Moo!…snort!…For some reason I want to call Rebecca Missy Moo too!…snorkel!…A term of endearment I guess…sniff!
8:01 pm on May 29th, 2011
Good morning all. Some of you are in bed already, what’s that about!
Stick with renting Rio. Real estate always recovers. Eventually.

If you are a music lover, then you probably know the Beatles. They are just one of the music icons that shaped the music industry that we are enjoying right now. The British pop band was popular during the mid-60s and their popularity continues to gain the affection of many music lovers. In fact, many are still collecting Beatles memorabilia because of their love for the band and their music.;
