    Good Morning, All.

I’m glad the dogs are free now.

    Good morning all.

Grump!…I can’t believe they still do testing on us guys…grumble!…Makes me so mad I just want to bite someone’s pant leg…sniff!

Well, Barb just spent the last 10 minutes in tears. First we watched the story of the freed beagles, then we clicked on the fighting dog rescue in Missouri. Very graphic footage. They actually breed beagles for lab work because they are so docile and easy to work with. There is absolutely no need for animal testing. At least there was a happy ending for those guys.

We saw that beagle story the other night and Mama cried. Especially when they did the footage of the dogs a couple of weeks after they had been freed. They were like brand new doggies.
We wouldn’t wish that life on even a KAT – nope, not even on $#&*$ Basil and Sage.

    Now, a Crazy Lady….hmmmmm….maybe……

A story with a happy ending for those beautiful dogs. It is beyond comprehension what goes on in the name of science. These little guys reminded us of beagles my sister has owned. They are loving, trusting companions. Oh, the terrible sadness in this world! So many animals need our help. We thank dog for those rescue groups who work so hard to change awareness of what is occurring sometimes in our own backyards.

Tupper&Gilly: Nana read your post of last night regarding a device for streaming movies from Netflix to TV. If your mum goes to the Netflix site she will see information on several devices to accomplish this. We are using Roku. It is very small device, about the size of a paperback book, that connects to the tv via wireless router. It streams not only Netflix, but also Amazon, Hulu Plus and some others – providing hours of entertainment for a small cost. You can also use some DVD players for the same purpose. We use our Roku in one part of the house and the tv is several rooms away.

    Interesting, BearSpiritDog . . .

Dan is at the doctor with Zoe. Waiting to hear how things are going in his chest.

Patsy is going to the V*E*T* today at 3. A check up to see how things are going. Needless to say, bit tense around here.

Talked to YSAS. He’s fine and in good shape. Also happy that he has his “stuff”.

Bella, I have also learned to read the blog backwards in the morning. Easier on the heart at times.

Went to stormykromer.com, clicked on living legend, refreshed, voted!

After watching the Beagles get freed I was wondering if a Beagle/Beagle mix would be a good dog for someone who knows a Husky or Border Collie is not for her?

    I need a quieter dog.

Bear, we didn’t ask that question but that sounds like a cool device. Alot of y’all post about streaming stuff. Is it costly?

CHarris, we think Mom found part of that weight you lost!!

    Dawson: Understanding your comment here.

Dan’s heart is fine. Doc has switched some meds in hopes of helping his memory.

Staff. Beagles aren’t really barkers, but they bay like hounds. It is actually louder than barking.
The Basenji doesn’t bark, and they are only 20 to 25 pounds.

    I don’t bark.

Beagles!….Are you kidding me?…snort!… We walk by a Beagles place all the time and he barks his head off and makes a huge racket…grunt!… I’ve never heard him bay before though…sniff!…He lives by a Border Collie and that guy never barks at us….heh!

    12:01 pm on November 29th, 2011

Beagles are cute and little and look adorable and are great inside. But they are scent hounds. That means they will be smelling trails out and following them. I have friends that beagles work great in their families. They get the beagles out and run them. I have other friends who have a problem with their howling and not following commands. Not sure they were ever trained though.

  24. Riö - The Evil Pug

Staff!….Get a Pug….snort!….Yeah, go on. Have some fun. Pugs are seriously fun guys to have around…heh!heh!…Although, she says I can be a bit cantankerous and stubborn most of the time…sniff!…If you don’t mind that kind of thing, then a Pug is definitely for You!….wuffle!…In fact, I have one I can send you. Staff, those beagles need homes…go for it. We are so depressed after watching that video. We thought that most companies stopped animal testing. It is so cruel and utterly useless.

Barb, we read your comment yesterday about that hunting Christmas card. Mom said that one would have gotten tossed; not hung to display like our other beautiful Christmas cards. Although Mom is never real thrilled with the ones of her friends’ kids sitting on their stoop in their summer soccor clothes…they just do not seem to have relevance at Christmas.

We watch Netflix streaming and other stuff thru our WII mostly.

  26. Barb & Maggie
    12:24 pm on November 29th, 2011

Staff, Beagles are sweet, but they do have down sides – the baying, stubborniss, following their noses. Pugs would be a good choice and how about a Frenchie or Boston?

Years ago, Barb was in an obedience class years with her Airedale. The instructor said, “Watch that Basenji, she’ll tear her throat out, keep your distance!”. Only exposure Barb ever had to a Basenji. And true they don’t bark, but they yodel.

G&BooBear: The Roku we have is the most inexpensive at $59 and is a one time cost. The Netflix streaming video is $7.99 a month. Many series are available such as Damages – the first 2 seasons, Midsomer Murders, Breaking Bad and scores of movies and tv shows.

Melanie: Another great picture of OTAS & his gal.
Paws crossed, here too, for the best of news for Dan & Patsy. Good thoughts and prayers, as always, going their way today and every day.
Your dishwasher seems to have gone on it’s own little adventure. Good thing it wasn’t the stove!

Nana’s sister and husband hunted with their 2 beagles. Also, in Montana there is plenty of room to roam, so exercise was never a problem.

Rio: Thanks once again for the assist with hooking up the new monitor yesterday. This one is twice the size. Going from 12″ to 20″ – quite a difference!

Happy belated Birthday to Sasha! Your cake sounded delish.

Melanie, Hope all medical news is good today.

Oley, Barb couldn’t toss the Christmas card, because it was not sent to her. She was so offended that if it had been sent to her, she would have responded – take me off your list if you are going to send out cards that are distasteful, even if you think it is OK to teach little children to hunt and kill.

Here is a site that lists companies that test on our guys:
    http://www.mediapeta.com/peta/PDF/companiesdotest.pdf

Lots of people near us have beagles and keep them outdoors at all times. We think that is why they bark or bay…we would always howl if nobody let us come in for bellies and a bed.

Melanie, we are picturing Whitey-Lance sending the Marauding Goats to fetch your dishwasher for use on his next great adventure.

    Hi everyone.
BSD -THANK YOU for the info on the Roku. We will first check the Netflix site, then check the store where salespeople are obnoxious.

Beagles! Bah humbug! We knew one beagle many years ago who was the sweetest, gentlest and well mannered dog we ever met. We loved him like he was our own.
So when the neighbors got a beagle, we thought he would be like Silver. HA! This dog never shuts up. And he smells. Not with his nose, he just has a stink , which we have been told many beagles do. We know – it’s not the dog, it’s the owner that determines behavior, but beagles do tend to be very vocal.

We think you should get a Corgi! No counter surfing, no tail knocking. And we are the best cuddlers in the world

Howlers: That is quite a long list! Not many observing the moratorium on testing. Quite disturbing. We will be paying close attention to our purchases from now on.

Rio and Siber: This monitor is very kool. The screen resolution is so much better than that teeny small one. Since we watch a lot of shows online it makes them so much more enjoyable. A difference of night and day.

Tyb: Every day I thank you for your reminder to vote for AJ.

Masquers, You mean you are actually watching movies and tv shows on your computer monitor instead of a tv screen? I’m asking because mom is thinking of doing that since she got Amazon Prime.
If your answer is yes, why would a person even need a Roku?

Siber- to answer your question about why would you need a Roku. Our home computer is ancient and is not able to support streaming video. And where it sits, there is only room for one chair.
Mama got Dad a big flatscreen last year, so rather than update Methusela the Computer, she would rather just get a device.

And now, mama is dragging her feet off to CLL
    sigh
(she did win $14 on her lottery ticket. Alas, she doesn’t think that will quite pay for her retirement)

  42. Masquers
    4:06 pm on November 29th, 2011

Siber: Most things we watch are streamed through Netflix or Amazon Prime via the Roku, but some online shows are not yet available on streaming and dvd – such as Once Upon A Time, Grimm and other current shows. Like T&G, our old computer didn’t support streaming and that was one reason we bought the Roku in the first place. Now we have a new computer with Windows 7, so we could watch everything on the new flat screen monitor, but prefer to view on tv whenever possible as it is more comfortable.

HerbKats: Sorry your mum didn’t win the Big One. CLL has got to go!

Rio: When Mom was out shopping this morning she found several very cute Pug birthday cards. Pugs have become very popular it seems!

  43. Siber-H
    4:45 pm on November 29th, 2011

Thanks Masquers, Our problem is that there is no place for a tv in the room where our computer is so we thought maybe occassionally we would watch something from Amazon Prime on the computer moniter. As you mentioned, if mom could find a way to make it slightly more comfortable. (I offered to dig her a nice hole)

How do you like the 20 inch monitor for just surfing the internet or hanging out on the blog?

    PATSY UPDATE:

Patsy still has bone cancer. AND, the tumor has not grown! ALSO, it has not spread to her lungs!

The V*E*T* was very pleased. Said not to worry about the extra weight at this point. To spoil her outrageously, let her do the walk/run with the Pack and do some light walking exercise when it’s cooler out. She also needs to get clipped down to keep her cooler.

Her nose is in great shape. When first diagnosed her nose was all cracked, dry and not pretty, it is now black and moist. The V*E*T figures it is from all the stuff we’re giving her to up her immune system.

Breathing a sigh of relief here. I still have my girl for some time to come!

Barb&Magpie: We have been seriously considering ordering 11-23-63 also on Siber-H’s recommendation. That is a big book at a hefty price. Even the Kindle version is expensive. The only other book of that magnitude Nana has read was Atlas Shrugged, which was close to 900 pages. Interestingly enough she liked it so much she read it 3 times and the paperback is literally falling apart from so much handling.

Hello! POODLE. Smart, affectionate, NO shedding, limited to no allergies, cute.

Mom had a bit of a kerfluffle with the union rep at her meeting today. Finally she said, “No. I’m not giving you a copy of this. If you don’t like it, grieve it! Let’s move on.” Hah! Mess with my mom she’ll tell you what for.

It is snowing here in the middle of the mitten. Mom’s so thankful for underground parking. Me? I’m thankful that mom puts my sweater on me when I have to go out in this snow carpola to do my business.

Siber-H, I just saw that episode about huskies on Dog 101. Prof and I love huskies. Do you really howl like that? No, I am ashamed to say, like most New Yorkers, I haven’t seen many of the tourist attractions, or historical monuments. I will have to research Balto’s location. How did your grooming go? I bet you look very handsome.

Hurray, YSAS, you got your stuff back.

Hubbub!…What exactly is this very verbose book, “11-22-63”, about anyways?…snort! …Is it a Stephen King gory bloody type book?…wheeze!…I personally have never heard of it before youse guys started going on and on about it…sniff!

Lawyer!….My friend had to pretend she was a grown-up and go see some lawyers tonight after work…grunt!… She wants to have a new Will made because all of the people in her previous Will have grown up to be very irresponsible human beings. …heh!…So she is having it completely re-done. Rio, It isn’t an ordinary Stephen King book. This is the way the book has been advertised so I am not giving anything away to say…What if you could go back in time to stop the assination of JFK? Would you do it?

Kennedy!…I think it was Nixon, but I have no proof…heh!… Oswald was a Scrape-Goat, cousin to the Marauding Goat….snuffle!

Happy B-Day, Sasha!! Hope party #2 has a great cake too.

Staff, Mom’s supervisor at work has a llasa apso. She was never an animal person, but her human daughters gave her a puppy a couple of years ago. That is the cutest dog!! She keeps her coat short (instead of show cut). Kind of reminds us of Sam in her summer cut. But nothing beats the cats!

Mom decided she couldn’t watch the video that Chet posted. She gets too upset by animal cruelty, even when there is a happy ending.

Maybe that dog is a shih tzu, not a llasa. One of those little dogs though.

Melanie, Mom is still looking for a good picture of Toes to send to you to forward to OTAS’s F. She still misses him alot and would love to have something done of him.

Drawings!….So OTAS’s Fiance is doing drawings of us if someone sends her a photo?….snort!…Is this the real deal? How much does it cost? My friend might want a drawing of me and Beau, but she can’t seem to get the two of us to sit still when we are anywhere near each other…chuffle!

Slip and fall! I may or not have biffed it this morning when I was waking out to the car. Normally I would deny such a thing but AJ was there when it happened. One moment we were on the top stair together and the next moment I was at the bottom of the front steps. Damn ice! AJ picked me up by the top handle on my back pack, dusted the snow off me and walked me to the car while commenting on my lack of coordination.

Stormy kromer put a ‘meet AJ’ on their facebookie today. I saw it when I went to vote for him. The executive director of the charity that could win I AJ wins has mobilized folks to vote too.

Rose: I just received a text from Luna. They are on the way home and she left some after dinner tums under your pillow. She said you’ll find out soon enough that evidence doesn’t always go down smoothly.

Support!…This is great news Rebecca!…snort!…About AJ the Giant getting other support for votes, not your slip-sliding away down the stairs…grunt!…Hope you are not too sore tonight after that fall…wuffle!

Ok, we are just catching up.
Melanie – woo hoo about Patsy. She is a GOOD doggie!
Happy Sweet 16 Sasha. Looking good!
Mama says Siber does have a really cute yark. He yarked for her when she and Dad met him in Albuquerque. Course, she did bring him bacon…
Ok, we may have missed something – Tilly the Tattler? Hi Tilly – us Corgis are perfect, so we don’thave to worry about you tattling anything on us. However, Basil and Sage are hiding under the bed.

Beau!…He is on the shit-list tonight because he had the nerve to lift his leg and piss on my bed….grrrruuuummp!… The fly swatter came out and he got swatted…heh!…Then he had to go outside and sit in the cold for a while…sniff!… Someone tried to clean my bed for me, but dammit, I can still smell him…..GAH!…Now he is trying to take refuge with my friend in her comfortable chair…growl!…She has already forgiven him…grump!

Happy birthday to Sasha and great news about Dan and Patsy!

Goodnight!….All youse guys!….snort!….Beau is ready to get in his nice clean, cold hard bed…grump!…Whereas, I have to circle round in a damp smelly bed. At least he did not “hit” any of my beloved baseball toys…sniff!….What a thing! What a thing I have to deal with these days. I never asked for any of this..…grump!

    Whew,
Now I can get ready for bed. I finally finished putting the binding on Dawson’s quilt. I kept thinking I had tons of time. Three weeks. But those three weeks are up on Friday and she has started the pre-packing. She wanted the quilt done so she could use it as packing material around THE FAN.

Her pre-packing goes on for several days and sometimes up to a week or more. This time it will only be a few days because she started late. Sob. I hate to see her go. I still need to beat her butt at Hand and Foot a few times.

    Heh.

Hi again, sorry not to get back and chat – work is just too busy lately.

Dawson – that puppy called Cricket, does it look like Cricket? – coz i put up a new pic of her from way back.

Summer – not yet! Just huge thunderstorms and yes, again, lots of flooding (not near us), it looks like we’re in for another year like last year. I wonder if that means youse will get another winter like last winter?

You all know I love my vintage and antique sewing machines. Well one of the posters on a vintage sewing machine repair blog is a retired minister. He found this blog about nativity sets and posted it for us and I thought I ought to share.

Oh MY! I do not display a nativity set myself, but these are very strange. Check out the edible marshmallow nativities. snicker
