St. Paddy’s Day (A Little Late)
“How was your St. Paddy’s Day?” Spence says.
“Was drinking green Scotch at the end,” Admin says. “Bit of a Gaelic mix-up.”

Right now we are all ooing and aahing over Rose’s fantastic collection of photos taken by the Prof on their Great Adventure North to Alaska.

OTAS and GLAD’s dog Papi knows how to wear his Irish bling . .
10:16 am on March 18th, 2013
We had breadless Reubens made with leftover corned beef. Also potato and zucchini latkes. It all worked somehow…
10:20 am on March 18th, 2013
Wondering when the Giant and BDHW and dogs will return home…
10:39 am on March 18th, 2013
ROSE!…Those photos! Wow!…snort!…I have not gotten through all of them yet, but how amazing and wonderful!…Wooooo!
10:48 am on March 18th, 2013
RIO! I’m glad you’re enjoying them. Lots of Rio, Jr pics in there. I love him. He is a good boy. You and Uncle Siber-H should be very proud of him.
10:58 am on March 18th, 2013
Melanie: Love Papi’s Irish Bling!
Terry: Oh! To have been there to share in your Wonderful Irish Feast yesterday.
11:09 am on March 18th, 2013
Rose, thank you for the photos and sharing your trip with all of us. We are so glad you and the Prof. were able to go to Alaska.
The photos help ease iditawithdrawal.
I am so proud of Junior! The Rookie made it all the way to Nome!
Rio, Ulsom got Rookie of the Year award.
11:09 am on March 18th, 2013
Mornin’ Folks. Things are slowly getting back to normal post-St. Patrick’s Day and post-Iditarod and post-Birthday. Now we are watching for the new snow that is on its way.
We love Wose’s photos! Good girl, Wose.
11:30 am on March 18th, 2013
Sigh. I want to go north to Alaska for a vacation with my best friend Belly Star. She is so darn pretty. And I know Rio Jr. And I would be great friends because I see that he likes to hug as much as I do. I have met the BDHW and she is the best belly rubber in the world. But now that I see Belly’s Giant Pop’s beautiful smile, I want to meet him so bad. I want to go. I need to go.
11:37 am on March 18th, 2013
Kat!…Save your treatie money and maybe next year you will be jetting North to Alaska…heh!…Rose can show you the ropes once you are there…snort!
11:46 am on March 18th, 2013
Howlers: Snow!
Chilly morning here (42 degrees) but it’ll be warming up very soon.
The sun is shining and it promises to be a wonderful day. ^..^
11:51 am on March 18th, 2013
Siber: That Rookie of the Year was in the top ten! (but of course he was…he is from Norway. Heh.)
Has this ever happened before?
11:58 am on March 18th, 2013
Rio, My mommy says I am not allowed to fly.
12:02 pm on March 18th, 2013
Masquers, I can’t remember it happening, but that does’t mean it didn’t happen.
Kat, I am not allowed to fly either. The airlines put us in cargo and then make mistakes…sometimes deadly mistakes.
12:12 pm on March 18th, 2013
Transportation!…I wonder if the Wookie-Mobile would make it to Alaska?…snort!…That is the safest form of travel..heh!
12:25 pm on March 18th, 2013
I’m at The Royals’ right now shopping with
Golinka for a dress for my niece’s wedding. Having fun.
0 degrees at our house this morning. Eight inches of snow predicted.
24 down here in the valley. They are getting snow too.
12:30 pm on March 18th, 2013
Siber-H: Your nephew has the makings of a champion!
1:03 pm on March 18th, 2013
Mom needs a dress or outfit for her neice’s wedding. Can Melanie and Golinka pick one up for her. Size Fat.
1:06 pm on March 18th, 2013
Kat, isn’t Belly’s dad quite handsome?
1:12 pm on March 18th, 2013
We think our Mama is going to have her picture in the post office.
She went out to do a quick errand, and as she was turning left at a stop sign, noticed that her left blinker was going “tickticktick” instead of “tick..tick..tick”, so she knew the blinker wasn’t working. Unfortunately, the police guy following her noticed it too. He followed her to her errand, and pulled her over. He said he noticed she always used her right blinker but not her left. Mama explained she knew the left wasn’t working, but it had JUST stopped, and her next stop would be to the repair place.
The police guy let her go with a warning, and she did indeed go right to the repair place, and got a new light bulb. And you know what? That same police guy was waiting for her at the end of her street. She put her left blinker on, and waved to him as she went by.
hrummpf!
Guess she just looks like a criminal type.
1:13 pm on March 18th, 2013
Howlers – you tell your mom to just stop that! She is downright lovely!
1:20 pm on March 18th, 2013
Rose, We love, love, love the pictures. What a treat to see them, and we too are envious but happy for your experience.
Amalia, Barb says she is glad you had enough control not to flip him the bird instead of a nice wave!
1:21 pm on March 18th, 2013
Tupper&Gilly: We here Love your Mama’s Stories. And from Real Life too!
1:28 pm on March 18th, 2013
The snow and the nasty wind are here in ski country now. I am not going out that’s for sure. There are people still skiing and the worst part is that they’re on the chairlift which has to be just brutal.
1:46 pm on March 18th, 2013
Mollys Mom: Thinking about last years poor ski season the good thing is you had snow for your winter festival and will be able to keep the lifts open for another month.
1:47 pm on March 18th, 2013
OH, check your SSD.
1:51 pm on March 18th, 2013
Ok – we have to tell youse guys this one:
We were driving down the highway. There was a state trooper following right behind, so we set the cruise control right at 65 on the nose.
Went along like that for a few miles, when suddenly, out of the brush on the side of the road, out flew a wild turkey.
It hit our windshield, then somersaulted over the roof of the car, and tumbled through the air until it hit the statie’s car dead splat.
The blue lights went on, the siren started up. We pulled over to the side of the road, the trooper marched up and gave us a
ticket.
For what, you ask?
Are you ready?
Why for flipping him the bird!
tee hee.
Sorry, that is one of our favorite jokes. Too good to pass up.
1:57 pm on March 18th, 2013
T&G: Too funny!
The Royal Mum is on a roll today.
2:16 pm on March 18th, 2013
I hope our comment is what reminded you of that nice story T & G!
Too funny, also happy that the turkey didn’t really die.
Jackson is here and he told Barb that this one little guy at school is mean to him and calls him bad names. So when he called him the bad name of the day, Jack looked at him and said “Still Happy!” and walked away. Barb told him he used his words well. Snicker
2:28 pm on March 18th, 2013
Golinka!…Wow! And look at her type with that one finger paw…heh!heh!
2:31 pm on March 18th, 2013
Royal Mum you are making me laugh very hard today.
B&M: Good for Jackson!
2:34 pm on March 18th, 2013
Riö: You are right! I forgot about it being sore. Her paws are just flying across that iPaw. How does she do it?
2:37 pm on March 18th, 2013
Barb&Magpie: High Four, Jackson!
As our Gramps used to say: Hurray for our side!
2:52 pm on March 18th, 2013
Speaking of sore paws – Barb, how is the knee rehab doing?
2:55 pm on March 18th, 2013
Amalia, The knee is still sore, especially after p.t. However, at the doc. visit today he said he is very pleased with her progress and the therapist said the same. Evidently it takes from 3 to 6 months before it is going to feel like her own knee. We are at the 7 week mark tomorrow.
2:58 pm on March 18th, 2013
Yes, Amalia, Speaking of Sore Paws…that would have really been something if you had Flipped the statie the Bird with the cast on your finger…we can just see the expression on his face now. Snicker.
(yes, we know the cast wasn’t on your “flipper finger”, but it makes for a better mind picture somehow)
2:59 pm on March 18th, 2013
Barb&Magpie: That is a Very Long Time, but when the wait is over you will have a Brand New Knee.
3:58 pm on March 18th, 2013
In our almost sort of town paper there was an Op-Ed by Golinka!
Here it is . .

4:39 pm on March 18th, 2013
Column!…I want to read the parts that are blacked-out…grunt!
4:59 pm on March 18th, 2013
I had trouble reading it, but was able to increase the size enought that it was mostly legible. Very well written.
Want to ask Golinka’s opinion on the proposed coal mining in Montana and Wyoming on Crow and Cheyenne reservations. Do you think it will be good for the Native Americans involved, i.e. good financial payouts from the companies, new and better jobs, etc. Or is it a bad thing, i.e. negative effects on native cultures, air polution?
5:31 pm on March 18th, 2013
Does anyone else think the guy who is going to tight rope walk across the Grand Canyon is CRAZY! BTW, no harness or net!
5:37 pm on March 18th, 2013
Wose – the pictures are beautiful. I especially like #P1010113 because it’s you and dogs and a dog obviously loves you.
Well said, Golinka. Thanks to Melanie for posting.
Barb – walk across the canyon? Really?? How will he fix the wire? Gah.
5:48 pm on March 18th, 2013
Extremely well-written,Golinka. I did not know Leonard Pelletier was still in jail. That really pisses me off. I read that book about him a long time ago.
Good Question, Bluecat about the wire across the Grand Canyon,
Barb, I didn’t know about this but my answer to your question is if somebody wants to kill themselves doing something like this it is their business, as long as they involve no one else in it, including the taxpayers.
The short answer to your question is, yes, I think he is crazy.
5:50 pm on March 18th, 2013
Golinka, excellent piece!
The Grand Canyon walker will walk an area “only” about 1500 feet across. He said that when he walked over Niagara Falls he felt uncomfortable with the harness. Falling 1500 feet could be even more uncomfortable!
Ilove getting mail!
5:51 pm on March 18th, 2013
This guy on the tight rope is the same one we had last year who walked across Niagara Falls. If you remember we here locally were going crazy about the whole thing but he did it successfully and now he’s onto the Grand Canyon.
5:53 pm on March 18th, 2013
BTW, That dude may be waiting a long time to find a day without any wind at the Grand Canyon.
5:53 pm on March 18th, 2013
When Walenda walked across Niagara Falls he was forced to wear a harness. He didn’t want to. That was the only way they would allow him to do it. It was going to be on national television and there was no way children were going to be able to watch him go splat.
5:54 pm on March 18th, 2013
Hi Sammie! Great minds….
5:58 pm on March 18th, 2013
Sammy, he may go splat at the Grand Canyon, because he will do it without any safty nets or harnesses. Evidenly there are cross winds which could throw off his balance. We will not watch him!
6:04 pm on March 18th, 2013
Tupper and Gilly’s mama is the very best! And we haven’t even had a chance to read her editorial yet.
The blog is fun (and funny) today now that we can all breathe a little easier with our team safe. Do youse think the BDHW and the Giant made it home yet? We hope AJ is able to eat eat eat.
Barb and Maggie, We love thar response to the mean boys.
6:12 pm on March 18th, 2013
Oleys, Guess this little guy is the bully, or little banty rooster of the class. Most of the boys follow his orders, but Jack objects, so he calls him names. We also loved his positive
response.
6:13 pm on March 18th, 2013
Still!…Happy!….heh!snort!….My friend says she is going to use that one when the bitchy boney fingered one tries to ruin her day..snort!
6:15 pm on March 18th, 2013
Meatloaf!…We having meatloaf for supper..sniff!…Her mother made it but used my friends recipe, or says she did…snort!…The truth will come out in a little bit…heh!
6:15 pm on March 18th, 2013
Look who’s Up Top. It’s Me, me, me!
Great Article, Amalia! Thanks for Posting, Melanie.
Grand Canyon Walk ala Man On Wire. Do we think he’s crazy?
That guy has a Death Wish for sure.
Macy: We Love Getting Mail too!
6:17 pm on March 18th, 2013
Mail!…I got Mail! ….Woooo!
6:18 pm on March 18th, 2013
Wind!…Its too windy to walk tonight….shucks!snort!
6:19 pm on March 18th, 2013
T&G, your editorial is very well written, and smacks of truth. We hope you know how truly we feel the sadness and shame for what our race did to yours, as well as for what our race has done to others. And the injustices continue. Not a day goes by that our folks don’t rail about these things. What we think is that if there is a god in his heaven, the tables will one day be turned.
Barb, as long as there are children, we think there will be those that are bullies, and those that are the victim of bullies. It is sad, but at least nowadays it seems that schools and the media are paying a bit of attention to the problem.
6:47 pm on March 18th, 2013
Bullys, Nasty little dudes and dudettes.
OTAS had a bully in the same play group. The kid would take everyone’s toy and push and generally be mean. OTAS was taught never to hit. The other children would hit the bully. OTAS finally stood behind the child, put his arms around him and lifted him up off the ground. That kid never bothered him again.
YSAS never had trouble with bullys when he was young. He was small and would never stand down against a bully. If he found a bully picking on a kid, he would leap on the bully’s back and ride him. I was called to school at least 3 times about this. I finally said, if you controlled the bully, YSAS wouldn’t have to defend others.
High School for him was another story. And definitely a story for a different time and different venue. Just know that when I went in with him to the principal, I believe I said something to the affect of next time I won’t be coming in, it will be the police. That stopped the problem.
6:48 pm on March 18th, 2013
O’Howlers: Thank you for expressing in a Clear & Strong Voice what we wanted to say, but could not find the words for.
6:48 pm on March 18th, 2013
Damn auto correct.
6:50 pm on March 18th, 2013
Bullies! Grrrr.
6:52 pm on March 18th, 2013
Oleys, so well said, regarding T & G’s editorial.
Also, regarding the bullying, we think Jack could have been told by a teacher or aid to respond that way, but it worked.
6:55 pm on March 18th, 2013
Jeeze Louise! Your moms are right about not have dogs travel by plane.
This guy was supposed to go to Phoenix but ended up in IRELAND.

Ok – first off, the guy who wants to walk the Grand Canyon – we think its all talk and no action – the last time there was a windless day there was in about 1596.
As to the question about coal mines etc on reservations – for the most part, the Nation that owns the land rarely sees any profit from these types of operations. There are lots of “administrative costs” that seem to eat up the shares….
But(just a minute while we get on our soapbox) we think the REAL product that is being mined out of these ventures is the shcism created in the reservation community as there is guaranteed to be different attitudes towards such ventures, and it always seems to end up with families and clans fighting amongst themselves. We feel mining ventures, casinos and other such types of get rich quick schemes are government based programs to divide and conquer. May sound paranoid, but thats our feeling.
Anyway – we are glad people liked the article. The articles that ours was responding to were so very ignorant and biased, there HAD to be a response.
And we are also glad that mail makes so many people happy.
7:02 pm on March 18th, 2013
Hey all. Missed the comments till just now as we has a cool, RAINY, thundery, lightningy day without electric. All the HOH didn’t mind except the brave pit mix (ha, ha). She quivered all the time the power was out while the rest of us played and tired out the new sissy. Our reason, it will give us a puppy free evening to zzzzz….
Rose’s fotos were fantastic! fun! fabulous!
7:02 pm on March 18th, 2013
Geez – we mentioned the places where people go gamboling, and we are in moderation h e l l . So – we will try again.

Finale!…Hey, the live finale of The Biggest Loser is on tonight…sniff!…This season flew by for some reason…wuffle!
7:06 pm on March 18th, 2013
And we also want to say – NO NO NO to racial guilt! NO! The only racial guilt we accept is that of current day racists who are doing things in this present time that they should feel guilty about.
All we ask is for people to be aware of history so that it can ever be repeated.
7:10 pm on March 18th, 2013
MP’sM – are you doing the original or one of the newer versions? We broke down and got #3 – the fish in the aquariums are much more realistic, but then again, they “talk” to you. We are up to our 11th aquarium with gold cups in all so far. Fun, but even more addictive than the original.
7:17 pm on March 18th, 2013
Tupper!…How much did youse guys pay for your fishie game?…sniff!…Someone here does not want to buy the full blown version for some weird reason….grunt!
7:24 pm on March 18th, 2013
Maybe Golinka shouldn’t have been playing the game while trying to learn left in the car . . snicker.
7:30 pm on March 18th, 2013
Melanie – pppppttthhhhhbbbtttt tee hee
Rio – we bought it on “sale”. Fulkl price was $9 something. They have sales all the time, but you have to keep checking the site to find them. Usually you can get 20% off anyway. And we have played this gsme for hours and hours and hours, so even at full price, it was a bargain.
7:33 pm on March 18th, 2013
DON’T get us started on the topic of Dogs Flying On Planes!
I don’t even want to THINK about it. Shudder.
What do they think we are anyway. A piece of luggage?
Rio: Was just going to ask how the Meat Loaf was. Good to hear it turned out okay.
Now I’m headed in that direction…of the kitchen that is.
Hi Herd of Hounds!
7:37 pm on March 18th, 2013
I play fishdom 2 on the iPad. The Fishdom 3 that everyone else seems to love is not available for the iPad. That may be a good thing.

Up I go into the freezing upstairs.
Climbing high using both rails;
Here the Pack comes barking to meet me,
At ’em girls, Give me some room!
Down goes tea, the cup shattering down under,
Off they go with a hell of a roar!
The Newf Pack lives for a making a racket!
Nothing’ll stop the Newfoundland Pack!
8:12 pm on March 18th, 2013
Good night all. We are heading to bed too.
Golinka, the article on the coal mines was talking figures like 2-3 mil to start but possoble 10 mil over the next few years. Sounded a little high to us! Does that really filter down to the people involved?
8:16 pm on March 18th, 2013
Newfie!…Noise!…snort!snort!
Fishies!…My friend says she does not want to buy the full blown version because she would
wastespend too much time playing it and no quilling projects would ever be made again…grunt!8:21 pm on March 18th, 2013
Rio: your friend is very wise. I spend too much time on the computer and that is with playing NO games. I seem to be obsessed with chetthedog.com blog. 😉
8:25 pm on March 18th, 2013
CHobbit!…chetthedog.com is obsessed with you!you!you!…Heh!…Our little Alaskan Hobbit…snorkel!
8:28 pm on March 18th, 2013
Whew! We here just finished our fabulous roast chicken dinner. The rents only eat a tiny bit the first night, and they cook off stuff like neck and heart and whatever for us. They will make 3 more meals out of this bird! Each is unique and delish, as in a great meat pie and also stir fry.
T&G, we hear ya. Still can’t help it. Our mom and pop take on all that stuff in their hearts. Mom says at least she knows her Irish ancestors were still over on the Island being mistreated (albeit in a smaller way).
8:52 pm on March 18th, 2013
Nighty night for us.
By the way, the snow we now have has made a real husky out of Kat! She is having a great time, even if Dima and Meashka tire out. Kat wants to stay out, which has never happened before. We love snow!
8:53 pm on March 18th, 2013
Guilt!…I never feel guilt…snort!…Because I keep my nose clean and never get caught…chuffle!…Beau is young and has not learned these lessons…heh!heh!…That guy is always in trouble.
9:17 pm on March 18th, 2013
Rio – congratulations! By not ever feeling any kind of guilt, you have moved up to the rank of KAT!
9:22 pm on March 18th, 2013
UP!…I moved up by stepping on Kats heads…snort!
9:24 pm on March 18th, 2013
Kats!…Speaking of stepping on Kats reminded me that Staff and her gaggle of Kats have not posted today…sniff!…What’s up with that?
9:55 pm on March 18th, 2013
Riö: We will have to check with Alice & Abbie, but I believe A Catty, her daughter and Elliot may still be visiting.

Rio: you should change your nickname from “the evil pug” to “the incorrigible”–that might be a more accurate assessment of your personality. heh
10:08 pm on March 18th, 2013
You tell him CHobbit! No Pug steps on OUR heads. Besides, h’s the one with the flat head.
Maybe we should sing to him, hmm?
10:09 pm on March 18th, 2013
Rio, the Kat. Has a nice ring to it. The Catty L. Left yesterday. Staff was bit down.
now I MUST go to sleep! TTFN
10:10 pm on March 18th, 2013
CHobbit!…I don’t even know what that means…sniff!…You are not comparing me to Corgies, are you?…grunt!
10:13 pm on March 18th, 2013
Basil & Sage: Nooooo singing under any circumstances. How soon you conveniently forget the rules of the blog (re: no kats singing). Now I am thinking that you are the incorrigible ones. Kats never learn, improve or reform.
10:15 pm on March 18th, 2013
Kats!…heh!snort!heh!…NO SINGING or SIGNING…chorkel!
10:16 pm on March 18th, 2013
