Spoiler Alert

“Here’s an interesting article,” Admin says. “It’s all about how to tell if your dog is spoiled.”

Spoiled? A new one on me.

    Good morning, ILG members!
Spoiled? We don’t know what that means, but Mom says we are. We’re thinking that if it means pampered and treated like the V.I.D.s that we are, there would be steak for every dinner and ice cream every night.

Jan Steves (Iditarod Red Lantern winner) gave a talk about her experience…we just can’t get enough of this stuff.

    Greetings All!

OH: No steak or ice cream every night? The Horror!!! Doesn’t sound like being spoiled to me.

Rio: I purchased your friend’s not foxgloves….Thanks for letting me know the measurements.

Good morning, y’all! Thanks for posting that article, Admin. Mom always says Dad spoils me, but that article makes it clear that she’s totally wrong. I don’t have my own guest house, complete with kitchen and bathroom. Therefore, I’m not spoiled. Right?!

OH: That was an interesting article about Jan Steves. I never connected her with Rick Steves, but I think we need to get Rebecca and/or AJ a brother who is a publishing/broadcasting mogul!

I agree B.Stover! “Spoiler Alert” I was hoping for some wonders from any of the three stories SQ and PA has coming along . . . sigh.

I noticed the writer of the article never said that any of those dogs were spoiled. She just gave examples of what some of her clients.

Hmmm. I’m not saying Patsy is spoiled but she does run my life. I came home at OMD 1 am and she was on my bed waiting with me. The Look that I used to give my guys when they were past curfew was plastered on her face. Whew! Luckily, I had brought her some yogurt.

YSAS and Hamlet leave today. I swear that yesterday was three days all put together.
We saw “The Avengers”. Now I have to look up the comic books that I used to read back in the dark ages. I swear that “the Hunter” was called “The Archer.

Good morning Everyone! Kirby T, you are up early. Is your mom going to work today? Tell her to leave the computer on for you.

The video I sent is not on a link. Sorry. They did it on the cell phone. The title could also be, “When two actors get bored on a road trip.”

Mom just realized she never reported back after her day at the state library’s summer reading kickoff. This was the first time she went to that, and she was pretty amazed. Everyone who came in got a free bag with a book by each of the guest authors — Marc Brown and Denise Fleming. And they had tables set up so you could get your books autographed by both of them. Mom had never seen a photo of Marc Brown, so she’s not sure what she was expecting, but she was surprised — and yet not surprised — to see that he looks just like Arthur!

Rose – we need to get you a puppy or a kitten so when the credit card starts smoking, you can blame the 4 legged one. Another package will be in the mail today too.

We watched that new show about the guy who “talks dog” in NYC. We got very bored, very quickly as it seems that it wasn’t the dogs he was talking to, it was the STOOPID people who wouldn’t have had the intelligence to bury a bone.
Ok, so Mama does what we want MOST of the time. And Patsy does get yogurt and special privileges. And Princess Sam does get wonderfluffed and carried around in purses (but she still only gets icky kibble). But that is not spoiled the way the dogs in the show were. It was downright embarrassing!

Since Mom and her friend were getting to work at their library’s booth, they were both wearing their library t-shirts, which feature The Wild Things. When Marc Brown saw their shirts, he told them about how reading Maurice Sendak’s book to his son inspired him to write his own first book. Pretty cool!

Melanie: We get up pretty early around here! And Mom is going back to work today after her week of vacation — which wasn’t much of a vacation. 🙁 Today’s her late day, but she’ll be leaving pretty soon. Not sure if she’ll leave the computer on for me or not. I’ll ask!

  19. Kirby T. Penworthy
    10:25 am on June 4th, 2012

Rio: That photo was taken with Mom’s “new” camera, which has lots of things on it that I don’t understand — and truth to tell, she doesn’t either! She was used to her old 35mm cameras — these new digital cameras flummox her sometimes! She’s still learning, but she does wish she had this camera when she saw Spence. That little point-and-shoot left a lot to be desired!

I’m not spoiled. The only one on the list that applies to my family is the travel…mom doesn’t want anyone taking care of me but her, but I can be left home alone and behave. My only complaint is she never leaves the computer on for me.

Gus&BooBear, To answer your question from last night, yes, the tv series Longmire is based on the books. Mom has read the books. The tv series will not follow the books, but that doesn’t matter as long as it is entertaining.

I think you could use either kind of pea in that recipe. Maybe the snow peas would need slightly less cook time. We have grown both kinds but prefer the snow peas.

Last night I had an allergic reaction to something, I took an allergy pill that knocks me out, Tenzing and I locked the doors and went to bed. Around 12:30 this morning, I woke to the sound of a door closing. I told myself not to panic and that I must have imagined the noise. I waited for more noises. Nothing. More waiting. I heard the quiet shuffling of feet. I looked to Tenzing. His medication, like mine knocks him out. He was asleep on the pillow. As I got out of bed—trying to be as quiet as a church pug—I grabbed my cell phone. A text message from AJ was on my screen: I will be coming home for the night. It will be late.

He got us, mainly me—Tenzing slept through most of it—scared for nothing. At least I wasn’t caught with the door unlocked.

You are right, Siber-H. Post offices all over the country are closed on Sunday, although I believe mail still is on the move (Rio, you will see this when you track your package)
Some packages are not delivered on Saturday (remember, B?) so we are careful not spend extra to send a package by Priority Mail if delivery will fall on that day.

We add our vote that LilMac is adorable. And it is nice to see him so happy and relaxed.
Mama says she will have a bear or two for the boutique before long. It has been a real struggle getting them from the lady who fires the porcelain. After having had buckets of bears for beaucoups weeks and months, WHEN did she call to say they were ready? DURING THE BIG WEEKEND SHOW WHERE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO APPEAR!!!! Grrrrrrrrrr
And then the lady got impatient that we couldn’t drop everything and go get them right that minute, cuz now they where in her way.
    Double grrrrrrrrr
But now- there’s bears in the studio. Just waiting to get prettied up

Siber – there are advantages to living in New Mexico. Hatch chilis, azure blue skies, glorious landscapes, not to mention chili cheese Fritos.
So – the post office is a little slow. So- you dont (usually) have enough snow to play in. It’s still the Land of Enchantment.

We are reading Dog Tags and here is something interesting. In every single book we have read by Rosenfelt, or the 8 Andy Carpenter ones for sure, he mentions Taco Bell. He always finds a way to bring up fast food, and it is always Taco Bell. We have a theory that he has a deal with T.B. that if he mentions them they will give a donation to his Tara Foundation, which is a great dog rescue organization. Does anyone else have an opinion.

SiberH: You took the words right out of my mouth! A big thank you to each of you who contributed items, your time and talents and thank you to those of you who went on shopping sprees when your two-leggeds were not looking. I am pleased to say that our puggy bank has all but the last $500 for the entrance fee. Coach and Bev called to tell me one thing, make that two: 1) They want to cover the gap that remains with the sponsorship from our mechanic, our savings and the MMSB, and 2) Don’t argue with him, they want and are going to do it.

B&M: You have no idea. Coach and Bev are great parents. They love AJ very much and are ranked among the loudest in AJ’s cheering section. AJ has a camp coming up at the end of this month for a church group. The group was looking for speakers for the young men. AJ asked if they were interested in football coach with such and such record and such and such awards. They were immediately interested and asked AJ how he knew Coach. Coach will be coming up later this month to speak to several young men. He is looking forward to spending time with AJ. Where will I be? In Atlanta at a conference during the time Coach is in Alaska. I don’t thin we have any Plunderers in the Atlanta area.

Anyhoo, Masquers! We decided that Hamlet was having Woman Trouble because of the Transit of Venus. Not that any of us know anything about it at all, but it did sound good.

Masquers, I can also tell that the transit will be great, because it will be cloudy here and we won’t be able to see it. ALWAYS happens.

I have tried, but I am tired ( I could actually say that the other way around too) but I MUST needs go to sleep.

Rose, we sure hope you like the Dare to Dream quilling project, because we absolutely LOVE the Sing one. Rio always said that the projects just didn’t photo to their full potential. He is right about that. It is perfect and Mom has already held it up where she is going to hang it. Perfect!! Thank you, Rio.

Mom is still waiting for her pretzels and mixes to arrive as well as the Market Square Dog book. (She also bought a pic of Annabelle and Twig.) We will be watching for new items at the boutique.

We think the Plunderers should consider helping AJ buy a back up sled for the race. He sure could have used one in the last race.

Thanks for the comments on LilMac. He has come a long way but still moves away when you first reach for him. He gets along great with the other cats and LOVES Dad’s lap. We will keep working with him!

Rebecca: We live just a few hours from Atlanta, and Mom and Dad had thought about going there last week, but ended up spending the whole week in the laundry room. So they’re still thinking about going later in the summer. When are you going to be there? Also, we just realized we missed the Monday deadline for ordering shirts — are we too late? If we missed this one, will you be putting in another order later?

Macy: Our “basement” is only about about three feet deep — and even smaller in places! But you’re right, that would be the perfect size for a playroom for me me me (as someone would say)!

Dawson: Mom’s t-shirt has the Wild Things and the name of her library on it — remember her library is the only one in the whole, wide world that has permission to use the Wild Things! And the sizes go from 18-month onsies to 4T to youth sizes to adult size XXL. If people would be interested in these t-shirts, Mom would probably just donate some to the Store, which would be win-win! Profit for the library and Snowhook!!!

Rio – tell your friend the next time she is in the craft store, she should go to the quilting section. They have these cool rotary cutters and cutting mats. The cutter really does look like a pizza cutter, but the blades for it are round razors. You put your things to be cut on the mat and then just put the cutter where you want to start your cut and pull down – zip, zip, zip. Instant fringe! It also keeps you from getting carpal tunnel problems from that constant sqeeze action with scissors. Bet you could cut a few layers of paper with that too.

Rio: I’m still here, but we’re getting ready to hit the hay! Mom has to leave for work early tomorrow, because she stopped on her way to work today to recharge the fire extinguisher, which was already here when they moved in. But Dad told her the wrong street, and when she finally found the right street, the lady at the fire extinguisher place said they couldn’t recharge it because it had a plastic top, plus it was one for a boat, not a house. So then Mom was going to buy a new one, but there was something wrong with their credit card machine, and it timed out — twice. So the lady said Mom could write a check instead, but by then Mom was already running late, so she just gave up and went to work — and was five minutes late. But they’re holding the new fire extinguisher for her, so she’s supposed to stop there again in the morning to see if the credit card machine is working by then.

    So good night, y’all!!!

Mom used to babysit for some people who were always out late, and in those days the only television station still on the air showed The Twilight Zone in the wee hours of the morning. So Mom would watch that show, and then jump everytime their house creaked.
