Greetings!
It will be very hot and humid here today in New York. The kind of humidity my hair does not like.
Thank you Spence for posting the Snowhook picture up top, and to The Plunderers, and Rio’s friend who are taking great pictures!
Have a freewheelin’ Friday!
8:34 am on September 5th, 2014
Good morning, Wose and everyone! We will watch the interview in a bit. Have to schlepp the trash out first. LOVED the fotos from yesterday.
Have what Wose said and enjoy 🙂
9:01 am on September 5th, 2014
Good morning! Hope everyone has a good day.
Wonderful photos and information from Rio and Masquers. Thank you. More, more, more, please.
9:07 am on September 5th, 2014
Good morning all. Haven’t watched the interview yet, but plan to sit down with some coffee and enjoy all 35 minutes of it.
We agree, photos and info were great.
9:26 am on September 5th, 2014
Just went back and looked at all the photos a second time. Rio’s friend is like a professional photographer!
Sorry to see that our Wose was having a sleepless night again. Hope she managed to get back to sleep.
10:07 am on September 5th, 2014
Haven’t watched the interview yet. Love the picture of all the dogs.
Good morning all.
10:13 am on September 5th, 2014
WE just watched the interview with OFA. Almost as good as seeing him in person. The DDD asked from across the kitchen if it was Spence. This from a deaf man! He said the cadence of the speech was what gave Spence away.
10:38 am on September 5th, 2014
All of the pictures and info from yesterday are wonderful. I especially like the Giant’s workroom. I’d never thought about that part of racing.
11:02 am on September 5th, 2014
Rio is indeed a great reporter from the field. And from the kennel. And from the Hobbit Hotel.
Have a grand time all you Alaska Plunderfest Participants. It makes us happy to read about and see your adventures.
(And Harris is just too cute!)
12:05 pm on September 5th, 2014
I have been catching up with yesterday and listening to Spencer talk. Works well.
I am sitting in my mostly empty quilt room with its brand new lights and outlets in all the right places. Soon soon soon I will have new cabinets. sigh.
Dawson you would love my lighting. I got daylight bulbs (8) in my two florescent fixtures and the light is like the brightest daylight you will ever see. I feel like I could land helicopters in here. It does make me feel good so I wonder if I have a little SAD also. We have been having a lot of cloudy days. You HAVE to come see it!
12:07 pm on September 5th, 2014
That is a neat ceiling above Spence during the interview. Wonder if that’s his writing studio.
1:49 pm on September 5th, 2014
Rio’s Friend said she recognized me right away because of my eyebrows. However, she was no help in pointing out their current whereabouts.
2:05 pm on September 5th, 2014
Stover!….I just finished watching the interview with Spencer and he said he was in his office – the place he writes which is above his garage…heh!heh!…Pretty fancy schmancy ceiling for a garage….snort!….Does anyone else think Mr.Media is a knucklehead?…..grunt!
2:10 pm on September 5th, 2014
Thanks Rio. I guess I wasn’t listening well. There is a lot of light in his studio…very nice.
2:12 pm on September 5th, 2014
The UPS guy just brought a big box, and guess what? We got BLING!

(This is Gilly’s)
2:25 pm on September 5th, 2014
Rio, yes, I thought Mr. Media was full of himself, but I enjoyed the interview with Spence. I hope Mr. Media does not read the blog, but if he does, thank you for interviewing Spence.
Gilly, Classy collar! I like it. Is Tupper’s the same?
Thank you guys for all the Snowhook dog pictures. My favorites are the ones of Tenzing.
2:25 pm on September 5th, 2014
Dawson,

Thanks for the inquiry about me and Jay and the reminder that we haven’t posted a calendar page for September. We’ve thought about it so often while we are in the car or away from the computer that we convinced ourselves that we had already posted.
Here it comes.
2:28 pm on September 5th, 2014
Rio, have to agree with you about Mr. Media. I thought he was a little dorky. A couple of his questions sort of missed the mark, but at least he had read three of the books. Interesting interview, and I learned a couple of tidbits – didn’t know Rosie was in D.C. Also didn’t know his two sons went to Tulane. I met Ben, the lawyer son, when he came to the book signing in Naperville in 2012. Very nice young man.
Have to go – lady from the adoption agency is coming over. Silly girl thinks she is going to get a picture of me, Lucy and the crazy girl, all sitting quietly on the sofa.
2:28 pm on September 5th, 2014
Wednesday!….Kennel Day!…snort!…After the awesome time at Snowhook Rebecca drove us to The Reindeer Farm to see Reindeer….chuffle!….This was in Butte, AK….snort!….Truly a place of beauty….wheeze!
2:29 pm on September 5th, 2014
Thanks, too, to Mollypop’s mom for passing the inquiry on to us. I don’t know what we’ve been doing, but it seems we’re always busy. However, we don’t seem to be accomplishing much. We send our best to everyone on the blog.
2:31 pm on September 5th, 2014
John! ….Deer is his name and antlers are his game….chorkel!…I swear that guy could hardly walk with that rack on his head….wheeze!
2:33 pm on September 5th, 2014
Beauty!….Did I mention this was a place of beauty??…gasp!
2:35 pm on September 5th, 2014
Elk!…Besides reindeer there were Elk and plenty of them by golly…heh!heh!…One of the elk nipped a little girl on the paw. After much crying and sniffling we never saw her again….guffle!….What do you expect when you stick your sticky little paws through the fence?…grunt!
2:37 pm on September 5th, 2014
Nana!….And Rebecca on Reindeer Watch!….snort!
2:38 pm on September 5th, 2014
Nancy!…She jumped the fence and was in with the Reindeer before we could stop her!….gasp!….Have I told you she is from Montana? They have no fear up there in Montana….wheeze!
2:39 pm on September 5th, 2014
More beautiful pictures! Thanks Rio.
Does John Deer shed his antlers every year?
Siber, I didn’t think about Mr. Media checking out the blog. My apologies to him for calling him dorky.
2:42 pm on September 5th, 2014
Velvet!….Right before our bugged out eyes she pulled some dangling velvet off one of the Reindeers antlers….snort!… It was a tug of war type of thing. The Reindeer wasn’t really ready to part with it but Nancy had other ideas….heh!heh!….What a gal!
Bite!….That little girl should have read this sign….heh!heh!

2:45 pm on September 5th, 2014
Thursday!….This brings us up to Thursday morning and Rebecca’s breakfast…snort!…It was called The Polar Bear – I have no idea why except that it was very large indeed….burp!
2:46 pm on September 5th, 2014
Gone!…She made quick work of it – I was very impressed indeed….slobber!
2:49 pm on September 5th, 2014
Raining!…It is a little on the rainy side today so we are all going to pile into a car and go downtown to a bookstore called, “Title Wave”….heh!heh!
Driver!…I bet CHobbit will be driving….chuffle!

2:51 pm on September 5th, 2014
Rio – loving the pics of the reindeer farm. The Storyteller is amazed at the size of the antlers, and is talking about the wonderful art that could be made from shed antlers.
And we had no idea that elk can bite! Most ruminants only have teeth on the bottom. Do elk have both top and bottom teeth? Or are you not willing to get that close?
2:53 pm on September 5th, 2014
Antlers!….The folks at the Reindeer Farm said they sale the antlers to mostly Crafters who make amazing things from them….snort!….If I had known the StoryTeller wanted one I could have snuck one into someone’s blue suitcase…heh!heh!
2:57 pm on September 5th, 2014
Howlers, You guys need to see the reindeer and elk pictures.
3:01 pm on September 5th, 2014
That Damn Pixie claims that she had help with the french toast from her polar bear breakfast. She cannot be trusted. Believe me, anyone who would steal the sparkles from a poor, defenseless, sweetheart like me, me, me is evil in carinate.
3:05 pm on September 5th, 2014
I thoroughly enjoyed the interview with Mr. Media, especially the part where he told Spence his vision of where Chet and Bernie should go from here! Step aside, grasshopper! Let the Master speak.
Both Spencer and AJ have soft speaking voices that are pleasant to the ears.
GillyFlower: Nice bling!
Excellent photos and reportage from Alaska. Nana, your photography skills are imporoving. That was a beautiful shot of alaskan scenery last night.
3:19 pm on September 5th, 2014
Dawson, that is the second interview where we heard someone ask Spence if he is ever going to write from Bernie’s voice. He is very polite about it. Sounds like last time this guy wanted to interview Chet. Spence politely said Chet is not a talking dog. He doesn’t speak, he barks. So there!
3:51 pm on September 5th, 2014
Those antlers are impressive–both reindeer and elk.
4:27 pm on September 5th, 2014
Chet is NOT a talking dog, he is an unreliable narrator (so says Spence) and we love his narration. Cheeto? Slim Jim? Squirrel? Pee mail? Gosh you tell us!
5:32 pm on September 5th, 2014
If mom doesn’t have to cook, she’ll take this:

6:00 pm on September 5th, 2014
Howdy! Mom finally let us on the computer, but not for long.
We just finished watching the Mr. Media interview. Fantastic! Spence has a fantastic sense of humor! Almost as good as Chet’s. We don’t think that interviewer quite got the humor. But we sure did. Now we really wish we could see him in person.
Siber, we love antlers, and we think reindeer and elk antlers would be awesome.
6:08 pm on September 5th, 2014
Howlers, Did you think he missed the humor when Spence told him his dog thought he was slow on the uptake with the hisbiscus flowers?
We don’t understand why idiots slaughter elephants for their tusks when they could make jewelry from shedded antlers and not any animals.
6:09 pm on September 5th, 2014
That should be not harm any animals.
6:40 pm on September 5th, 2014
Guess what. The cabinet people asked if they could bring a load over this afternoon. Of course I said yes! Then I made MrFireslippers take me home. (We were in a nearby town) Then this happened…

teehee. It reminds me of the end of 2001. Another joined it and then some more and one only made it into the library downstairs and must wait for stronger people to move it up the tiny stairs and through the bedroom into the quilt room. I’m so excited!
6:48 pm on September 5th, 2014
oh my Dog!
How about this one….
Whew! Not sideways!
YaY
7:09 pm on September 5th, 2014
Staff – your quilt room will be beautiful!
Barb – we agree. We know ivory can be just lovely, but there are ways to cut and polish antler to make it beautiful, smooth and creamy. And if you ever saw a gigantic moose antler, you could see how even large items could be carved out of one of those huge, heavy whoppers.
Whew – we had a close call here tonight. Mama was making a big pot of soup from leftovers. She put in the last of a jar of oil cured, sun-dried tomatoes. A little while later, she tasted the broth for seasonings. It was pretty good. But about 10 minutes later, she felt really sick. And then she got really sick. After that she had some crackers, and felt OK again. Before dinner, she stirred the soup and taste tested it again. And once again got very sick, very fast.
The penny dropped. The soup got thrown out. The boys had hamburgs for dinner. Mama had toast and tea. But she is SOOOOOO grateful that she sampled it, before giving bowlfuls to Gramp and the Storyteller, to say nothing of giving us some on our kibble.
And she may never eat a sun-dried tomato again.
7:29 pm on September 5th, 2014
Yikes Amalia. You are one very lucky plunderer. Someone is watching over you…Maybe a Hawk moth?
7:48 pm on September 5th, 2014
A fawn is out at our apple tree, and she was looking at me and coming closer and going into play stance! Heh! I am going to have a fawn friend.
Barb, yes. That was one of the times we thought the humor went right past him.
7:50 pm on September 5th, 2014
And Amalia? I hereby volunteer to taste all of your food for you. That’s just the kind of guy I am.
7:54 pm on September 5th, 2014
I’m in Ellicottville at Holiday Valley having a very nice dinner outside with some friends.

8:27 pm on September 5th, 2014
Ooooo – Zeus, a fawn? Can you herd it? Can we help?
8:38 pm on September 5th, 2014
Mollypop: A toast to Tyb and Jay!
Zeus: I hope one day you will play with T.C. and a fawn like they are your good friends.

Mollypop’s Mom, That is a quality photo you took…very nice.

9:36 pm on September 5th, 2014
Rio: Giggle! I have my ways.
9:40 pm on September 5th, 2014
Museum!….This was touted as a Little Museum at the top of the mountain…chorkel!….It turned out to be a gift shop with a video playing the same avalanche story over and over so that was the “museum” part I guess…heh!heh!….My friend found some nice things there and actually bought them…sniff!sniff!
10:06 pm on September 5th, 2014
Photoz!….There are a few more photoz but I have to wait for the CHobbit Foto-Processing Lab to open….grunt! ….Stay tuned.

Line up!
The three ladies are the possible perps. Which one looks guilty? I think it’s the one in the middle because she’s smiling.
Montana Woman!
Nancy wrangeled an elk! Ahroooooo!
Staff: I can’t wait to see it when all the cabinets are in place.
10:34 pm on September 5th, 2014
We know that look. Neither the one in the middle is guilty or she is laughing at a dirty joke one of the other line-uppers said.
10:49 pm on September 5th, 2014

7:49 am on September 6th, 2014
I konked out early last night. It is so darn hot and humid here. I am loving the Alaska photos and I wish I was up there right now. Mom said she likes being there in winter, for the Last Great Race, but it looks like this summertime crowd got to see a lot more of the sights, and best of all. They had the best damn tour director along with them. My most favorite photo was the one of the stairs disappearing into the clouds.
We still don’t remember one picture of The Friend’s face. Boo.
Jaxon’s mommy and daddy are in the labor room as we type. Everyone, please cross all paws, and whisper prayers to the Creator.
