Good morning! We heard about this over the weekend, and we were glad he resigned. The company should have fired him.
And no…we are not going to watch that video.
7:55 am on September 3rd, 2014
The dog is a one-year-old Doberman. I don’t understand some people.
Good morning all.
8:07 am on September 3rd, 2014
Good morning, everyone! Mom won’t watch the video either but she said that whatever he did to that poor pup should happen to him by someone proportionally bigger. So there.
We are loving the Mini-feat West fotos 🙂 Keep ’em coming.
Have a wild and wooly Wednesday.
8:17 am on September 3rd, 2014
GAH! should read “mini-fest West”.
8:42 am on September 3rd, 2014
HOH, we here think it was quite a feat to get The Friend on a plane all the Way Up North to Alaska.
8:52 am on September 3rd, 2014
OH has a point 🙂 Bet The Friend is glad she did it.
9:08 am on September 3rd, 2014
Good morning all. I watched it, and frankly I have seen worse examples of abuse. The guy is a jerk and I am glad the dog was taken away from him. He should have been fired, but donating $100,000 to an animal charity and having to do 1,000 hours of community service is more than most animal abusers get. Thankfully the laws are changing and these guys don’t get off so easily.

Greetings!
Wow! Great photos from yesterday! Lovely photo of the pizza, but we here want some people and Snowhook dogs in the pictures ! What about our Pixie and the most handsome musher AJ!
B&M, There are lots of times I don’t even know what talking about!
KAT! I knew you would find that photo! I am going to try and print it out! I would not expect anything else from AJ, but the regal and Royal treatment befitting you!
9:30 am on September 3rd, 2014
Thank you, Wose. I knew you would appreciate me for the queen I am. (o.k. Momma says I am a princess, because Meash is the queen).
9:37 am on September 3rd, 2014
We have a political candidate running in this area whose entire platform is that he will make sure animal abusers get substantial punishment.
Good platform, but probably not enough to get him elected.
Good morning everyone. Plunder On.
9:59 am on September 3rd, 2014
The facebookie post didn’t say whether or not Kye had a vest. Since officers have to wear them, it should be mandatory for K-9 officers, too. Here in our area, the city has vest for the dogs, but the county lags behind and a small group of volunteers are out every weekend trying to collect enough for vests for all K-9 officer.
10:09 am on September 3rd, 2014
Yawn!…Burp!….What time is it??,….gah!….Today is Kennel Day – we are getting ready to go out to Snowhook!!….WOOOOOO!,,,First we are eating cold pizza for breakfast….chuffle!….Is Alaska great or what!?….heh!…burp!
10:11 am on September 3rd, 2014
Kat, I am practicing my curtsy (sp) should we ever meet. I will also remember not to shake paws with Meash, unless she offers her paw first.
10:14 am on September 3rd, 2014
RIO! I am so happy youse are having a great time! Don’t forget, lots of photos–Belle Starr, AJ, Mama Luna, Pixie, AJ, Rose, the pup (definitely not me!) , AJ, those handsome Thieves, Pixie, AL…..well, I guess you get the picture….
HAVE FUN!
10:23 am on September 3rd, 2014
Oh, forgot to mention the pizza. I was absolutely drooling over those pictures. OMD did they look good! What toppings did you have?
Today will be a fun day at the kennel and hopefully there will be lots of fotos. Wishing you warm weather with sunny skies.
10:34 am on September 3rd, 2014
Nana, please give RJ a big smooch from me me me!!!
Also, Momma says to give Clyde a super-big smooch from her!
10:36 am on September 3rd, 2014
Just for Wose (and all you other AJ groupies):

AJ as we love him best!
10:52 am on September 3rd, 2014
And who says AJ never takes a bad picture?
tee her
10:55 am on September 3rd, 2014
You Alaska guys won’t be able to take a ride in a dogsled. Too bad.
I think Wose needs a full picture of the Wosengrizz sled.
11:06 am on September 3rd, 2014
For all of you on a p.c. where it ended up being upside down:

11:09 am on September 3rd, 2014
We love it…Ray yesterday, Eileen today. More fotos, please.
11:11 am on September 3rd, 2014
Hey, has anyone tried the DDD’s favorite…reindeer sausage?
11:36 am on September 3rd, 2014
We were told that the reindeer sausage was delicious.
We were also told that the Copper River Salmon burger in Whittier could not be beat. We lose respect if those Summer Alaska travelers do not get there for the salmon.
12:28 pm on September 3rd, 2014
We love salmon burgers and salmon croquettes too! Last night I made a Caesar salad and topped it with salmon. Yum!
12:37 pm on September 3rd, 2014
On top of all the other punishments that I hope are coming that perp’s way, he needs to go to anger management classes.
Thank you guys for all the fun pictures from Alaska!
I like the picture of Rio and Masquers in the deep, dark woods.
It reminds me of something out of the brothers Grimm fairy tales
That pizza looks better than any we can get in this city.
12:58 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Not watching the video.
Am drooling for pizza.
Regardinging AJ’s “bad” photo: Ya gotta love that mug!
Oh boy! Snowhook Kennel or bust for the Alaska contingent. Tummies for everyone!
I’m off to the chiropractor and some more shoulder manipulation. Ouch! Do you mind?!
1:24 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Barb, you haven’t lived until you have Copper River salmon. Mom had it when she was in Seattle, and her salmon meal was $50 !!!
In Whittier, she had Copper River salmon burger for about $10 or $15 and it was excellent!
2:43 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Wowser, snow today in Barrow, AK. Is this a portent of things to come?
2:56 pm on September 3rd, 2014
4.4 inches is the 3rd heaviest Sept snow on record there 🙂 (5.1 and 4.7) Can you say Brrrr ?
3:02 pm on September 3rd, 2014
There is a cartoon drawing of Derek Jeter on the cover of this week’s New Yorker. His back is to the viewer so his number 2 shows and he is raising his Yankee cap to the stadium audience. The title is, “Derek Jeter Bows Out.” (I thought that the baseball fans would like to know this.)
3:05 pm on September 3rd, 2014
HOH: I hope so! although I have a lot of work to do before snow comes so Point Barrow can keep that snow up North for a while longer.
Happy happy dance! I received a new Snowhook Kennel tote and a bootie in the mail today. I don’t know why that bootie made me cry. Probably because I thought of all the work that doggie (Twig, no doubt) had to do to get to Nome. Anyways, I am really happy. Thank you, Snowhook Kennels.
The chiropractor put some tape on my back and shoulders to keep me upright and alert to any shoulder slumpage. I promised to do the exercises she gave me so that I don’t have to go back for two weeks! Thank dog because at $60. a pop, my money is disappearing into her pocket at an alarming rate!
3:52 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Stover, Thank you for the baseball news.
3:59 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Dawson, hope the shoulder improves before the fall chores and winter shoveling happen. We need more fotos !
4:01 pm on September 3rd, 2014
The Alaska crowd sure are quiet.
T&G and MPM: Do you remember how we were railed against when we didn’t post for an hour or two at a time at the Plunderfest a couple of years ago?
4:10 pm on September 3rd, 2014
OH, Sheesh, any plunderfest!
4:12 pm on September 3rd, 2014
They were forming lynch mobs!
4:15 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Torches and pitch forks!
4:23 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Tar and feathers!
4:25 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Boo hiss signs!
4:27 pm on September 3rd, 2014
So now, we guess that the Alaska party knows that when Plunderers get together, much time is spent on laughing and talking and eating, with very little time for computer posting.
ahh, well. We do understand.
But we will still grump about it.
4:30 pm on September 3rd, 2014
You tell ’em T&G 🙂 Maybe sackcloth and ashes, too!
4:53 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Channelling Rio: why aren’t those guys posting photos wherever they are???? They are keeping us in the dark.
5:33 pm on September 3rd, 2014
I think they do the posting of photos from CHobbit’s computer.
They will have all paws full if they are at the Kennel. Those tummies aren’t gonna rub themselves!
5:42 pm on September 3rd, 2014
I’ll see if I can get Rio’s attention:
It is the bottom of the seventh in the Rockies game and they lead the Giants by 7 runs.
5:48 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Just called Comcast to ask why I got an increase of almost $30.00 on my bill. Each time they disconnected me about half way thru my call. Does anyone know of the bill increases at the end of two years? I am so irate I don’t want to go thru the call process again right now!
We want photos too, but understand that they probably are not near their computers right now. We will just have to wait. waaaa.
6:01 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Barb – calling Comcast billing is a lost cause. Try hitting the button for disconnect service, or for sales. That way you will get a person. And ASK for the best rate possible for your system. There are always different “specials” that they can offer – they just don’t tell you about them unless you ask. We call Comcast about every 3 months and ask if there is a better rate, or any specials going on.
Comcast hates us.
6:09 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Rockies Won!!!
6:09 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Kat: I love that you are channeling Rio. I think his friend is finding out that it is not that easy to meet 50 dogs or talk to a couple good friends and post at the same time. Also it is still early afternoon in Alaska, so we may yet get some pictures before bedtime.
6:10 pm on September 3rd, 2014
The pizza does look terrific. You all wrote so much about it that I went back and looked. It was worth it. Welcome, Hamilton! Such a commanding presence requires an exclamation point!
School started up with the kids this week. They are a good group and are very sweet. This honeymoon phase of stellar behavior lasts about four to six weeks. I treasure each of those days.
I won’t be posting much, but know I am reading the blog daily.
Great Alaska pictures.
6:18 pm on September 3rd, 2014
SiberH: Have the Rockies lost a game since Rio’s friend went to Alaska?
By the way, I’m making BStover a pie! Everybody loves Derek Jeter, don’t they?
Barb&Maggie: How frustrating! They should call you back if you get disconnected, not the other way around. Whatever happened to customer service?
6:23 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Dawson, I think Amalia has the right idea. I am going to try to get a better rate or else leave. My bill is now $180.00 a month! I think it was around $120.00 when I started two years ago. That is a 50% increase.
Also, with the first call I got far enough to give the “customer service rep” my home phone AND cell phone and I did not get a call back. Phooey!
6:43 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Dawson, yes, the Rockies have lost since Rio’s friend has been away but they have won more games than they have lost.
Barb, You must get your internet from Comcast?
6:54 pm on September 3rd, 2014
How come I can’t click on those 2 pictures of Chet’s Friends and have them enlarge today?
Oh oh. When they fixed the picture of Hamilton yesterday, they bunged up the works! Now none of the Friends of Chet enlarge.
7:08 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Haven’t since yesterday.
7:11 pm on September 3rd, 2014
KAT! Thank you for posting the picture of AJ making a funny face. He is still handsome.
I will miss Derek Jeter very much. Captain, I salute you!
7:17 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Yo! Spence, Why has Admin changed the way we can view the Friends of Chet?
7:25 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Siber, it is bundled – phone internet and tv. I have heard that AT&T might be better.
7:27 pm on September 3rd, 2014
I would guess there was an operating system upgrade.
7:40 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Barb, Ours is bundled also…Direct tv, cell phone, landline phone, and our internet is from our phone company. You might want to do some comparison shopping by phone.
7:40 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Thank you Dawson. (My favorite pie is chocolate cream.)

Mini Plunderfest at kennel and Rebecca being tour guide bringing them back to Anchorage. I know they visited a reindeer farm but I don’t know what else. We will find out together when they return to the Hobbit Hotel. Rebecca was a guest last night at the Hobbit Hotel and liked it so well she is returning for a second night. 🙂
I had to stay in Anchorage and pick up Quill from surgery. He is fine but if he doesn’t stop licking himself, he might be sporting a cone collar.
It is another beautiful sunny day–I think Nana and Rio’s friend brought the good weather with them as they have had perfect weather. It was raining before they came and it was supposed to rain today and Friday but so far so good.
Nana hasn’t been able to get her devices to connect to my wi fi and the service she has doesn’t work in Alaska. {{{sigh}}}} She did take some photos that might be posted when she gets home so stay tuned.
Rio’s friend uses a digital kamera and downloads images on my computer before blogging. I know it is evening in your time zone but it is only 3:45 here.
7:51 pm on September 3rd, 2014
7+ east, 6+ central, 5+ mountain, 4+Pacific. Go ahead and figure what what we mean 🙂 Time zones.
8:01 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Hobbit: Thank you for the update on the adventures of the Plunderers. I am glad to hear Quill is doing well.
8:29 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Hobbit: Sounds like youse will have an old fashioned slumber party!
8:30 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Looking forward to more Plunderer Adventures. More mother adventures here. Doc decided that Mom needed stronger antibiotics, which have to be IV, that means supervision for five more days. She should be going to rehab tomorrow. They put in a picc line right before I left. She was not a happy camper, thought she was going home today.
I got two more days of day camp tomorrow and Friday. Now I’m ready to sleep. I skipped choir practice tonight. Don’t tell on me.
zzzzzzz
8:32 pm on September 3rd, 2014
BStover: Chocolate cream it is. Yummy!
CHobbit: Thanks for the Alaskan update!
8:38 pm on September 3rd, 2014
ML: Your independent mother will not be liking that extended supervision. Not one bit. Thinking of you, ML’s Mom. (whispering) Does that mean you get a little break? Or does that mean you have to run back and forth even more?
Sleep is good.
8:39 pm on September 3rd, 2014
HOME!…Is where the Hobbit is!…snort!….We are home from a very wonderful exciting day at the Snowhook Kennel, which is so Awesome I have no words right now to express it….heh!heh!
Behind!…I am a day behind in foto-posting so this is what we did yesterday…snort!…The photos from today have to be specially processed through the Hobbit-Processing-Lab before I can attempt to post them….sniff!…So lets catch up!….Woooooo!
Float Planes!….chuffle!…..We were taken to Lake Hood here in Anchorage to see some Float Planes land. But it happened to be very windy out Tuesday morning so we hung around and no one was flying or landing, but it was still a beautiful sight to see the lake and all the small planes…..snort!…To be clear all these photoz were taken by my friend…sneeze!
8:40 pm on September 3rd, 2014
CHobbit!….I see she was the last to use her logon…grunt!….I will fix this and carry on as if nothing has happened….heh!heh!
8:43 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Barb, whenever my “super low introductory rate” and required contract time was up, I called a competitor and changed companies. Believe me, those companies called me then, offering amazing deals. Downside: I have three satellite dishes, none of which I use anymore. I finally got my DSL Internet line from Verizon. You can watch TV shows on your computer using huluplus.com and/or amazon prime or any number of legal sites on the web. I have a wireless hub so I bought a roku box and hooked it up to my tv, allowing me to view almost everything I want on my TV. Downside: I cannot watch anything live. Costs: I pay Verizon about $65 per month for Internet. I paid $100 for the roku box (no monthly fee as I own it). I pay about $20 per month total for some channels that the roku streams. Sometimes I cannot get a show but I am surviving just fine. I am not big on sports but a woman at work told me she bought a service with which her husband can watch sports but there is a three hour lag time from live tv.
8:44 pm on September 3rd, 2014
After-That!….We went to downtown Anchorage and we discovered that Nana likes to pose with large Animals native to Alaska….heh!heh!
8:48 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Martha!….Hellooooo down there in the Lower 48…..heheheheh!….snort!!
8:49 pm on September 3rd, 2014
8:50 pm on September 3rd, 2014
ML – we bet your mother is madder than a wet hen. Sorry Fern, et al. Wonder why hens would get mad, and where that expression came from.
Anyway, tell your mother to put her feet up and pretend she is at a different type of “club med”. That’s what Mama does whenever she gets stuck in the land of johnnies. Tell her to call “room service” and ask for a different meal, get magazines, turn the tv up, and give her the dancing giraffe meds. Time will just fly by.
Barb – YIKES!!! That is indeed a huge Comcast bill. We don’t pay near that much for our bundle. We don’t do any extra movie channels or anything, but we have full feature cable. Beat ’em down, girlfriend. Get a better deal.
Glad the weather is so perfect for the Alaskan contingent. But you wouldn’t catch us in a float plane, oh no you would not. Polar bears look at float planes like they are the foil wrapping around an ice cream bar.
Hi Martha! Love the description of the honeymoon period.

8:53 pm on September 3rd, 2014
We love, love, love the pictures of Nana and the critters! Would that b e a bout the scale of a real moose to her? (that’s NOT a real taxidermy moose is it?)
8:55 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Treat!…We were taken to a very beautiful Mirror Lake…snort!….This is special because if you look closely you can see the small buildings that were part of a youth camp that AJ the Giant used to work for….snorkel!….I bet he had a great big influence on a lot of kids, yes I do!….chuffle!
8:55 pm on September 3rd, 2014
I want an Alaskan Moose or I am going to be in a Very Bad Mood.
8:57 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Mirror!….Lake!….wheeze!
9:00 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Bee, I would be happy to help you eat that chocolate cream pie.
The only choice we have for internet is DSL, which is so slow, or satellite, which would have too much delay for Momma to work from home. So we pay a super high bill for the land line we never use, and DSL. And another high bill for DirectTV, which we watch.
Good photos. Keep ’em coming.
The dog yard is awesome (so I hear).
How are RJ and Clyde?
9:00 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Then!….Rebecca took us to the Alaskan Native Heritage Center where we got a special tour given by our special Rebecca…..snorkel!…You see the Center was closed, but they let us in and we had the place all to ourselves….heh!heh!…It was the best guided tour ever!…chuffle!
9:03 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Who knew Nana loves Large Alaskan critters?
Who is in the photo with Bella?
9:04 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Bear-Catch!….This is what the Native Alaskans would use to try and keep food away from Bear(s)….heh!heh!…I have a feeling it would never work for our Bear…snort!
9:10 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Whaling!…..Rebecca is telling NANA and my friend about the Whalers and this long thin black thing is a Baleen which is part of the poor damned whaled that just got caught up in all that Whaling stuff….sniff!…We think it comes out of the whales mouth….sniff!….I think Rebecca said it is the equivalent of a Whale toothpick….grunt!
9:13 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Moose Head!
No, that is not a real moose. Although it is hard to see because I can’t enlarge it! A real moose would probably be taller and more gangly. I think. Not really a moose expert.
Admin! Help! We need to be able to enlarge the photos!
9:13 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Whaled!….Here is what the Whale looks like at the end of a Whaling session ….gurgle!
9:14 pm on September 3rd, 2014
While Rio catches up on posting on this here blog, I would like to report that I was a complete gentleman today when our VIPs visited the kennel.
9:15 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Lefty!…I heard otherwise, but that is a story for another time….grunt!
9:17 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Boat!…Or a ship I get those two confused all the time….heh!heh!
9:18 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Rio: I find it best to get out ahead of any rumors, false reports, or stories that may or may not have added color. In fact, if memory serves, I learnt this from you.
9:21 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Totem!….This is a very tall Pole…sniff!…My friend may or may not be standing at the very base of it….heh!….All I know is Rebecca had to back up into the middle of the pond where the boat or ship was docked to take it….snort!
9:23 pm on September 3rd, 2014
These are great photos. Nana is in her element! Wild and dangerous animals are putty in her hands.
I love the bear cache and that 3 holed kayak-y thingy.
9:27 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Low-Man!….This here is the Low Man on the Totem Pole…snort!…I learned from Rebecca, on the tour, that the Low Man in Native culture is actually the guy with the most responsibility….snuff!…He is not the loser, he is the one holding everyone else up on his shoulders….wheeze!….There is a lesson in this somewhere, but all I can think of are the Rockies and how great they really must be after all…heh!heh!
9:27 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Great photos, Rio! Keep ’em coming!
9:28 pm on September 3rd, 2014
That totem pole is way taller than my sunflower! Is Rio’s friend ever short!
9:34 pm on September 3rd, 2014
I love the low man on the totem pole. He is wearing a Haida “button blanket”, all those white dots being buttons.
9:37 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Important note:
Staff says that on her Windows 7 computer she can right click on the photo and get a menu. The top choice on the menu is Open link in a new tab. If you click that (regular click) it will open it in a new tab and it will be bigger.
AND often it will be turned right side up if it isn’t right side up.
9:49 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Photoz!….Lots and Lots of fotoz from today, but it will depend on how soon I get fed and how tired I am after that….grunt!…In other words, it is all in CHobbit’s little furry paws….heh!heh!
9:50 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Alice?
What about Windows 8?
9:51 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Staff: Thanks! On my windows 8 I discovered that if I right click and choose “save image” then I get a full screen picture.
9:52 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Loving the pictures! Thank you for sharing your adventure with us.
Tupper’s Mom: once you see a hen when she has been out in the rain, you instantly understand the saying. The hen explains in no uncertain terms how unhappy she is. And do not bother to try and explain to her that she could have gone into the hen house. She will NOT listen.
9:53 pm on September 3rd, 2014
If I do that I have to press the windows button to return to the blog. And a picture is saved somewhere. Heh!
9:59 pm on September 3rd, 2014
T&G: I love your saying: “Polar bears look at float planes as the foil wrapping around an ice cream bar.”
10:25 pm on September 3rd, 2014
We do love the pictures and the descriptions. And thanks for the info on how to see a bigger version of the pics. Now we can see the moose is not a real moose kind of guy. But we still want one.
Ok, on a completely different topic – remember me saying that the new owners of Crazy Lady Land wanted me to work with them on marketing. Here’s the deal – the midterm owner basically destroyed the business loosing over two thirds of the paying clientele. The new owners have had the business for three months, and are now realizing what trouble they bought into. They brought me in last week, and said they need to get 100 new paying member in the NEXT 30 DAYS or they will go under. One of the things they insist on is facebook, but we just don’t see how this is going to make that big a difference. The previous owners both had a fb page – in three years time, there were a total of 43 visitors, and a bunch of those were me, checking to see how bad the page was. And it was bad. Really bad.
We have set up a fb page to learn how to do it. Tomorrow we go to CLL to set up a page for them. We have gotten them hooked into the local newspaper for articles about the new owners etc, but 100 new members in 30 days??? Don’t see how it is possible.
Gonna try to get them on the local radio drive time (Rebecca knows about that one) and on a local tv talk show. 100 members? Yeep!
10:55 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: If anyone can do it you can!
11:27 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Dawson – if they had called 3, heck even 2 months ago, there might have been a chance.
We are giving it our all, but really…..
11:33 pm on September 3rd, 2014
Siber-H, Is your windows 8 a touch screen or do you use a mouse. If you use a mouse it is the same as Windows 7. If you have a touch screen put your finger on the picture and wait for the menu to appear. When it does take your finger off the screen and touch the Open Link in a New Tab line. It should be the top.
Don’t be afraid to try it Mr.Husky. You won’t hurt anything!

What a great day! WoooHooo! Rides in the (sleigh) 4 wheeler racing in the woods at top speed (10 miles an hour – at least) Met all the hero dogs of Snowhook and had long conversations about the Trail. Rio and I are Iditarod Insiders now and honorary kennel members or so Whitey Lance (my hero) tells me. Heh.

Cliff!….Maskers is a happy Kat today, but yesterday he was pretty fed up with me….heh!heh!….I flipped him off my head ((again)) and he became distraught because he actually had to walk somewhere and uphill to boot. So he threatened to throw himself off the bluff. Who knew Jazz-Kats were so emotional?…sniff!….Don’t jump Maskers! It’s a long way down!….wheeze!….Come down off the bluff and I will carry you on my flat head – pal…..grump!sneeze! …That Kat is really messing with my pug-head….gah!
