Sound and Furry Tour
“Any tour dates set yet?” Admin says.
“Most of them,” says Spence. “We’ll post the full schedule this week. But here are some of the cities: Durham NC, Lexington KY, Seattle, San Francisco, Denver, LA, Phoenix.”
“Is it true you’ll be giving out Chet and Bernie stress balls?”
“In every city, possibly as Chet and Bernie pop quiz rewards.”
“How about a sample pop quiz question?”
“All right, here’s a tough one: who is Rummy? And an easy one: who is Chet’s best pal?”
Welcome Boone; Westie, please retry, photo did not appear.
Thanks for all the skunk remedies, everybody!

It’s almost that time, B…pie orders coming up soon.
HOH: And a spiffy Saturday to you too…sleeping in late is the best! Hey, your last post rhymes…kinda.
9:39 am on August 24th, 2013
Masquers: Mom has always liked rhymes and rhymed couplets, even if she doesn’t have a flat to sublet!
10:02 am on August 24th, 2013
Oh my. Just wait til Rio sees that Spencer will be in Denver.
(whispering- we knew that since we met up with OFA but were sworn to secrecy. Glad we don’t have to worry about giving it away anymore)
Day 5 of the Really Long Shew. Sleep deprivation is kicking in. Hopefully the adrenalin of a busy show day will carry us along.
Happy day to you all.
10:19 am on August 24th, 2013
Good morning all.
Chet’s best pal is Iggy, of course. Now who is Rummy? All I can think of is Rumsfeld and that can’t be right. Maybe after some coffee.
Stress balls are soft rubbery balls that you squeeze repeatedly to take away stress (supposedly) and strengthen your arms.
10:22 am on August 24th, 2013
All right, Tupper’s Mama!
What else do you know that you aren’t telling us? Hmmmmm? Spit it out, woman! (Oh…and have a rollicking, can’t keep up with business day.)
10:31 am on August 24th, 2013
HOH: I have fond memories of riding to Grandparents house with all of us singing that rubber tree ant song at the top of our lungs. Do you remember that, Staff?
10:41 am on August 24th, 2013
Yay, San Francisco! Only three hours away!
I’m a little rusty on my blurring skills. After I run some drills, I’ll be ready to teach Blurring 101. This will be a great opportunity to visit Stagg’s flutter-bys and snag some peaches and tomatoes. Yum!
10:43 am on August 24th, 2013
All together now:
ONCE THERE WAS A SILLY OLD ANT

NOW GO AWAY! I SAID IT!
Jeeze Louise. When a Newf gets an idea in his head, there is no shaking it loose.
Good Morning All. Tad tired here. Beautiful day here. Going to visit my sister. She has a small cottage behind her house. She has had it fixed up (new roof, new windows, new plastering) and will be renting in out in September.
10:53 am on August 24th, 2013

Either way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I’m lip singing, because you don’t want to hear my Basil & Sage-y caterwaulering. (softly – kerplop!)
It’s going to be a scorcher so I have to get out for a bike ride now. Enjoy the day.

High apple pie in the sky hopes!
Greetings All!
Hope everyone can enjoy a lovely Saturday !
Grizz and I stayed up too drinking, eating, and celebrating his younger brother’s birthday at a lovely restaurant on the water. Went to bed at 12:30, and just got up now. GAH! We won’t be going to the really big show ( sniff ) but we are hoping the Royals have a sell-out! (However, I did see a couple of beautiful bears that could use a home. I think one was a amethyst color) …..
11:40 am on August 24th, 2013
Gus and Tenzing, hope youse are feeling better. I am so worrit about you both.
11:58 am on August 24th, 2013
Siber, as the crow flies, the fire is about 50 miles away. It is a worrisome situation. This has been a bad year for us. Back in June, arsonists lit approx 20 fires within 15 miles of us. The authorities arrested the culptits, who were trying to burn down their own house to collect the insurance money. Luckily, no structures were lost.
We have been so impressed by our local firefighters. The response has been magnificent.
12:01 pm on August 24th, 2013
Oh, oh. Done a lot of ants, bit no goats……and million killowat dams, kerplop!
12:02 pm on August 24th, 2013

I lost part of my heart yesterday. Gus decided that he was ready to cross the Rainbow bridge yesterday, and I could not deny him. Although he had fought a good fight, he just could not win this war. It had reached the point that anything done to keep him from crossing was for our selfishness and not for his quality of life. From the first moment I brought him home to live his expected 6 more months until yesterday, 6+ years later, he knew he was special and very much loved. We may have given him a great home and longer life, but it pales in comparison to what he gave us. We loved him very, very much.
12:05 pm on August 24th, 2013
DENVER!….yeeeep!
12:07 pm on August 24th, 2013

OMD Wolfie! That is Very close. Stay Safe.
Wose: Ooooh Golinka’s Wonderful Bears! I think of you & her every time I look at mine. It is so Precious to me.
12:13 pm on August 24th, 2013
Gus’s Mom: our hearts and mom’s pawrayers are with you She said she will have trouble waiting till March to hug ya’ll, you deserve it. She rescued a parrot (gah) once. V e t said don’t get attached, no liver function. 8 years later Fred crossed the bridge like Gus…mom forgot the v”s warning. We love our friends and sometimes they respond by staying longer than what 2 leggers think they will. Know how you feel.Love to BB and Ya’ll, till March, Hugs!
12:14 pm on August 24th, 2013
My Dear Gus, You are Welcomed with open arms by your Friends & Family at Rainbow Bridge. You had the Best Home Imaginable with so much love. Saying farewell, for now, to those who loved you with all their hearts. I know you will meet again.
12:16 pm on August 24th, 2013
BooBear: Big hugs to you and your mom & dad at this sad time.
12:18 pm on August 24th, 2013
Gus’s Mom: Your special boy was welcomed with open paws, and the veil will be thinned for as long as you both need. Remember, none of us who have crossed are far away from those we love and those who love us. Gus will never doubt the love you have for him.
12:23 pm on August 24th, 2013
So sorry to hear about Gus. You were a loving family to him and he had a great life with you. 6 years when you were told 6 months = wonderful! The fact that you think what you gave pales in comparison to what he gave is what being a pet owner is all about. Take special care of yourself today.
12:32 pm on August 24th, 2013
Gus’s Mom, We are so sorry you lost Gus, but we are so very thankful your family gave him such a good home while he was in this world.
He will be missed here, but welcomed with great love at Rainbow Bridge. Husky Hugs from us to you. sob, sob, sob
I agree with Rio…Gus knew when it was time, but so did his mom.
People who love their animal family members know when it is the right time.
12:33 pm on August 24th, 2013
There is more room under the Quilt today. Yesterday, Gus told me he was ready to cross the Bridge. He said it was time and that as much as he loved his life and his family, he was eager to make his journey. I didn’t want him to be alone so I walked him to the edge. I saw so many familiar faces on the Other Side. I wagged my tail, they wagged theirs. I smelled cheese and bagels. Everyone was in their Prime. I watched as my Pal of the Quilt began his journey. I thought about making it my self, but decided it wasn’t my time. Gas gave me a flick of the tail as he completed the Crossing. As his last paw stepped onto the Other Side, he was engulfed in a hug of fur, tail and paws. The Veil closed and I could no longer see him. It was a thing of beauty.
I made my way back to the Quilt and began my services as a pillow. Two of my Twins were there and Dawson promised to drop by for a game if cards after her bike ride. I’m going to miss Gus, but I know he isn’t far away.
12:34 pm on August 24th, 2013
Hey, knock off the tears! Gus and I are having fun chasing bunnies around. We love you and think of you often.
12:38 pm on August 24th, 2013
Wolfie, Oh Dawg, We hope you are not getting smoke from that fire. The thick smoke from forest fires is a nightmare.
12:43 pm on August 24th, 2013
Tenz: That was beautiful. Sob.
12:48 pm on August 24th, 2013
Gus: We’ve still got high hopes. Love to your family. Hope they remember we love them, too.
12:55 pm on August 24th, 2013
To BooBear and family: My sympathies for the loss of a good friend. I’m glad you had much more time together than the v e t thought possible. He fought hard and is now at peace.
Gus: If you see any of the bunnies that ate all my sunflowers, give them a little swat on the nose.
1:05 pm on August 24th, 2013
Sniff. Happy trails, Gus. Give my love to Teddie and those who have Gone Before. I know your family loves you dearly and my heart grieves for them. As for you, beautiful little Gus bucket, I know that you are free and happy and healthy.
1:21 pm on August 24th, 2013
I’m very sorry about Gus. (I still love their avatar picture.)

test..Our electricity was off for quite awhile.
2:31 pm on August 24th, 2013
BooBear and Family, You are a brave bunch. Take care of yourselves. Gus will always be near you and in your hearts.
There are Newfs there ready to wear him as a hat if he gets tired of walking.
I miss my Pack that has gone ahead . . They know I love them. I feel their love always.
2:39 pm on August 24th, 2013
Gus – little guy. You did your job well – your family knows you loved them and you stayed around just for them. Thoughts with your mom and dad who are, indeed, brave.
2:47 pm on August 24th, 2013
Guster, if by chance you run across a white Kat named Kasie, remind her how much mom appreciated her patience with mom as a first time fur-mom. Never was a kitty more worried over and loved. Enjoy your renewed strength and katness, little guy.
Dainty licks to those left behind.
2:51 pm on August 24th, 2013
The herd is out playing so I get the ipaw. Amazing how we all love our 4 leggers and they know and reciprocate. Boo Bear, I feel your hurt. Can’t wait for March to hug mom and dad. We are all bound together on this plane 🙂
3:09 pm on August 24th, 2013
Hounds: Yes, we are all Bound Together in Love, each of us part of this very Special Family at Chet’s Place.

SiberH!…Check your SDD when you get through digging!…snort!
3:17 pm on August 24th, 2013
We join with all the others to say how sorry we are for your family’s loss, Boobear. Six years is not long in cat years, but it is 12 times longer than what the vet expected. We know that extra time was due to all the love and care Gus received while he spent his earth time with you and your mom and dad.
3:33 pm on August 24th, 2013
Rio, I had to stop digging because it is hot outside now.
I replied. WOO WOO
4:41 pm on August 24th, 2013
Rio: send me a SDD.
4:46 pm on August 24th, 2013
CHobbit!…Get yer furry little Hobbit feet to the computer and check your SDD!…snort!
4:47 pm on August 24th, 2013
Gus’s mom and BooBear. Even though Gus has departed this temporal plane, he will live on in your hearts forever. The love that you gave him and the love that he gave you is indestructible. And he is in good company with no pain on the other side of the bridge.
5:06 pm on August 24th, 2013
Rio: pitter patter back at you on SDD
5:16 pm on August 24th, 2013
BooBear, Please snuggle your mom and dad extra now. We have been out of touch, and just dropped by to quickly catch up. Oh, we are so very sorry for your loss. Gus was so very brave. We know that he will find lots of friends on the other side, and that your mom and dad will always love him. We think Gus and Buddy will be extra special good friends on that side of the bridge. Hugs and kisses to all of you.
5:23 pm on August 24th, 2013
Mom isn’t sure if I should post this now, but I can’t wait for Siber to see me in the pond. Heh Heh

5:24 pm on August 24th, 2013
Me too!

5:38 pm on August 24th, 2013
Are you two girls out of your Siber minds?
It makes for lovely photos, but GAH
I just noticed the color of the water is the same color as you girls. Is this good?
5:58 pm on August 24th, 2013
It was fun. A black lab was in there and wouldn’t come out to play. So…had to gp tp her!
6:25 pm on August 24th, 2013
What are you talking about Siber-H?
They are in training for the virtual Iditarod! Last year AJ and Snowhook had to go through WET, RUNNING water. O’Howlers are good athletes.
The soup was excellent. In the neighborhood there have been 3 peach pies, peach jam and just eating peaches.
6:42 pm on August 24th, 2013
Peachy!….Melanie, no one around here eats peaches, but I will never forget that peach cobbler picture…snort!… Me and my friend are relaxing downstairs where it is cool watching “All Creatures Great and Small”…wuffle!…She says quite often she would love to live in the Yorkshire Dales. We just need to win the lottery first…grunt!…She does buy a ticket or two every week just to keep the dream alive. I wonder if she would take me with her….grunt!…I do not want to stay here with Beau and her mother, that’s for damned sure….sniff!
6:48 pm on August 24th, 2013
Book-Tour!…gasp!…We here are waiting on pins and needles to find out when The Charming Mr. Abrahams and the Pointy Headed Spencer will officially be here in my state…snort!…Someone is very worrit because there is a week we will be away…wuffle!…Away to good ole Iowa, again. I did not think we would ever go back there, but something or some things have transpired since we were last there and my friend and her mother and brother are destined for another trip…gurgle!spit!
7:10 pm on August 24th, 2013
BooBear, Mom, and Dad,
My heart breaks for you all as I take in this news of Gus. Gus knew his time for the Rainbow Bridge had come. For as great as his pain may have been in leaving you, Gus knew far more pain would come to you as you watched him suffering. Gus is a good cat, and he loved his forever home and family. His love is what you will feel beating forever in your hearts. I am so happy Tenzing guided him to all his friends on the Bridge. He was not afraid. Make sure that Gus looks up my cat, Kelly. Kelly has been a resident of the Bridge for 26 years. He, too, was a good cat, and will show Gus the ropes.
7:10 pm on August 24th, 2013
Rio, After all your complaining about Spence not coming to your area, you sure better be there for the book signing! This is not negotiable. You must change your trip to Iowa if necessary!
7:11 pm on August 24th, 2013
Kat, you are a bathing beauty !
7:13 pm on August 24th, 2013
Barb!…Do I have to remind you two nights in a row that I am a Pug…snort!…I have no control over the vacation plans…sniff!…The only thing I control is my bladder these days…heh!…And that is iffy at best.
7:14 pm on August 24th, 2013
How is this position possible?

Yoga Ros . .
7:19 pm on August 24th, 2013
Rose!…The Newf, not my friend in NY, is huge. I am always amazed at the size of Newfies even if they have been shaved almost hairless…heh!heh!
7:27 pm on August 24th, 2013
Melanie: Not how is it possible…we know it is. It happens all the time at all ages.

7:43 pm on August 24th, 2013
OK, Rio, we understand, but try your hardest to get her there!
We also understand the Newfie sprawl. Remember when Gus was here and got stuck with one paw on each side of the door frame? He could not figure out how to get up until Barb helped.
7:43 pm on August 24th, 2013
HOH, weird isn’t it? If I got onto that position I’d have to go to the doctors’ to get out of it!
Riö, this is Ros, Rose’s mom.
8:23 pm on August 24th, 2013
Name!…A Ros by any other name is still a Rose…heh!heh!…Is Ros the one who will not go in the pool?…sniff!
8:25 pm on August 24th, 2013
Please check your SDDs.
8:54 pm on August 24th, 2013
Smoke has not been a problem with this fire. Apparently it is being blown due east to Nevada. Theorem the Aspen Fire was burning a month ago, we woke up every morning to heavy smoke which blew off in the late afternoon. It was eerie.
9:16 pm on August 24th, 2013
Time to say nighty noodles. A little movie, then bed. Sweet dreams. Hope T & G’s folks had a great day.
9:39 pm on August 24th, 2013
Gah!…The first scene of The Bridge is far too disgusting…grunt!…My friend and I were never disgusted by Breaking Bad, it was … practical in its strange events. But, this show sometimes just makes me gah-g…grunt!
9:52 pm on August 24th, 2013
Barb&Magpie: We are right behind you. It has been a long day.
See all youse for Sunday Brunch – Bear
9:53 pm on August 24th, 2013
Melanie: We here expect our newfs to sprawl. Aretha could barely limp, but still sprawled! It is only fitting that Darah the dozer does the same. oh, and ,Melanie, that is how I sleep, but if I move, it would take a tow truck to get me out of bed!
10:02 pm on August 24th, 2013
Yes Riö. Ros won’t go in the pool. She’ll swim at the river or up at the camp, but she does not like the pool stairs.
HOH and Barb & MagPie, I do love the Newfie sprawl. Our Bess was the best. She looked as if she was in zero gravity with all four paws up in the air. When she went over the bridge, I found a small statue that had the same sprawl for Zoë.
I am going to go to sleep. Down to 41 tonight. Good for sleeping.

Wish we could have a cool night here 🙁 Still, days haven’t been too warm.
D-i-L is in Reno (w/ Daddy Dawg) and smoke from fires is awful. Hope it clears soon.
10:28 pm on August 24th, 2013
Oh, my and look at the time! We will say more in the a.m. nighty night.
10:41 pm on August 24th, 2013
Dear BooBear, When I got home tonight I learned off your loss. So sad to hear but I know it is better for your Mom to not have to worry about how Gus is feeling and if he is in pain. Having your friend in pain is the worst. I am sure he feels wonderful now.
Love to you and your family from us kats in North Dakota.
10:50 pm on August 24th, 2013
GAH!…And GAH again!…wheeze!….There is anothert scene of “The Bridge” that is unexpectedly Too Much too…groan!…We are re-thinking watching this whole show…gasp!
Stover!…I know you watch this so I think this is the August 21st episode…sniff!
11:05 pm on August 24th, 2013
It is supposed to get down to 31 tonight in North Pole and 34 tomorrow night. Noooo
11:23 pm on August 24th, 2013
CHobbit!…NOOOOOoooooOOOOOO!…sniff!…This cannot be true.
11:57 pm on August 24th, 2013
Rio: I live in the arctic. It is true. And it is the reason why I hope my house sells sooner rather than later. I plan to move the rest of my stuff down here at the end of September or early October. An empty house in the winter is not a good thing.
However, it is still getting up into the 50s and 60s during the day so it is very nice. This time of year I can have the doors and windows open or be outside because there are no mosquitoes. 🙂
11:58 pm on August 24th, 2013
In Anchorage I have no tv with cable service hooked up yet. It is interesting not having tv. I don’t miss it as much as I thought I would and I am reading more (always a good thing).
12:05 am on August 25th, 2013
Ooo-SiberH!…Get out of your warm soft bed and check your SDD…snort!….You might have more than one, but there is ONE that is very important because it is from Commander Rio(me!) …grunt!
12:08 am on August 25th, 2013
CHobbit!….My friend finally ordered the latest Robbie Forester book on my Kindle today…sniff!…She and I got to read the first chapter before someone else took over all of my friends time…grump!…Reading time is precious around here, let me tell you!…growl!
12:16 am on August 25th, 2013
Goodnight!…All. We are hitting the hay once again….heh!…Not a moment too late either…sniff!Yawn!

She got in tonight after 11:30. They are zonked. They are hoping for Sunday to be as good as Saturday.
Good night again, sleeping is good here.
8:22 am on August 25th, 2013
Thanks for the birthday greetings! Started a week ago with a comedy show by Paul Reiser, and Thursday we were in Connecticut for the Dropkick Murphys. It’s all good.
I’m sure that Phoenix readers will have lots to say to Spence.
