Somewhere New
Somehow Bernie and I ended up in a place where today is Boxing Day. No actual boxing seems to be happening, but we’re having a good time.
They have a creature here called an opossum. It’s going to take getting used to.

Any boxers I can wish a Happy Boxing Day to?

We heard that possums are immune to snake venom so having 1 around is good for snake contol and we remember that Chet is not fond of snakes. Mom puts Cat Chow out for the strays and wild critters and we have several possums that show up….poor creatures were NOT blessed in the looks department. But that's ok since they keep the snakes away.

Canada?

Chet….How did you get to St. Lucia?
6:35 pm on December 26th, 2009
Not sure about St. Lucia. I only know about Boxing Day in Canada.
Great about opossums. One visited us today, to snack on some acorn squash I tossed in the yard for recycling. We are big on mulching and giving back to nature. Cute as a button…so I disagree about the "looks" department. Cute pink nose, cute pink paws…just too cute.
Opossums rank up there with amadillos in the looks department.
Chet, are there armadillos in The Valley? I saw my first amadillo in the wild in Pensacola, FL. Major cuteness.
How about gila monsters? Also cute, but don't let them snap at you…ouch. Of course we all know about javelinas. : )

That’s a shame, for a moment there i thought you were in Australia for boxing day! But here it’s possums, not Opossums, they’re pretty cute. I agree with you, Ivy, armadillos are VERY cute – not that i’ve ever seen a live one…

Hi Guys – I think Boxing day originated in England and is celebrated in all the English settled countries except the US – I guess we had to rebel against a lot of that stuff! Chet, you're lucky you get to see lots of critters like opossums (or possums as we say it here too), I've only seen chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits. Although I don't have any cat friends, I have to admitt Abbie, you are pretty cute!

thank you Cosmo. You also have a lovely fur coat. And you are napping. That is one of my favorite activities. It is right up there with mattress testing and birdwatching.

Rebecca, Skunks like frosting…as in cake frosting? Or is it just the beautiful white fur they have? I like skunks too, but when Abby meets and greets…I don't like that part.

P.S. I will post an Iggy photo. Too cute, but of course it is not the REAL Iggy.

I found this on Webshots. This pup's name is Iggy. Great name.
Not the real Iggy, but very cute just the same. Who is the contributor on this blog that calls them Terrier-orists? ..or something like that….too cute.
