Snowhook (More)
“Does everyone know about Snowhook?” Spence says. “This wonderful and humane kennel up in Alaska? That chetthedog.com and the Plunderers and anyone else who wants to is helping to sponsor in the Iditarod? The greatest sled dog race on the planet?”
“Are we going to speak in questions all day?” says Admin.
“At the moment, the Plunderers have two fund-raising teams. One is Alice’s Shake Your Bootie team, dedicated to raising enough money for 1000 booties for the Snowhook team. The other is Rio’s Feed The Giant team, dedicated to feeding AJ and the team during the race. Also you can sponsor a race checkpoint for $250.00. Here’s the link to Snowhook. Not quite sure about how to link to the Plunderers’ teams – hope we’ll find out soon.”

OOOO, am I first?
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning. Staten Isalnd Chuck did not? What does this mean? What groundhog’s word do I trust?
Go Snowhook!!!!
9:28 am on February 2nd, 2012
I did mean Island….
Hey, is Bjou, friend of Chet, the little bit of dog that was in the mailbox from last night’s blog???
9:36 am on February 2nd, 2012
Plug!… What a great plug for my Team! Thanks Chet!…snort!… Oh, and Alice too I guess….sniff!…Team Feed The Giant is still accepting new members and of course all donations of cold hard cash and now actual food to be sent to AJ via the US Postal Service…grunt!
9:47 am on February 2nd, 2012
Our check, plus picture, were sent out this morning for Feed the Giant.
On a more frivolous note, I believe the dog in the new VW commercial for Super Bowl is none other than an English Shepherd. It appears to be the same dog, fat and slimmed down, so it might be a tad photoshopped.
9:47 am on February 2nd, 2012
Yawn!…I didn’t get much sleep last night tossing and turning trying to figure out what Melanie and the Newfs are up to….grunt!….It drives me crazy not being in the Loop…sniff!…The only thing that makes it bearable is nobody else knows what they are up to either, not even Alice and her hypnotic eyes…sneeze!
Booties!…Speaking of Alice, who among us is going to be sewing together (shudder) 1000 booties for Snowhook now that you guys have the cash?….snort!
9:49 am on February 2nd, 2012
Barb!…That guy-girl in the advertisement looked pregnant to me in the beginning…sniff!
9:58 am on February 2nd, 2012
so Commander Rio, you have no luck vith finding Secret Mission plans?. HA! And you say YOU are Commander. Is very funny little spugnik. All it took for Natasha vas little tickle under chin of Franklin and all details vere disclosed.
Is good thing Natasha approves of mission. Ve vill not interfere
But ve VILL enjoy holding over von little flat head that ve know.
10:00 am on February 2nd, 2012
Go Snowhook! Good morning all.
10:00 am on February 2nd, 2012
Rio, The same thought had occured to us. If it wasn’t photoshopped, there was a definite pregnant look to her shape. Also, now that I think about it, not sure they showed a face shot of the overweight doggie, maybe just a side view.
10:00 am on February 2nd, 2012
Rose – do not believe groundhogs at all. Rodents lie!
10:01 am on February 2nd, 2012
Spy!… It’s easy to say you know what’s going on without giving any details about the thing you say you know…sniff!…Natasha, whose Team are you going to be on anyways?….grunt!
10:04 am on February 2nd, 2012
I wanted to take a look at the new FOC: Dude relaxing on a placemat. I thought the puppy would be a toy-sized cutie. NOT!
Get down off of that table! You big lug. This dog has been to Trigger’s advanced classes.
Wow!
Our teams were mentioned up in the place of honor!
Rio: Bringing you a tad closer to the loop. The bootie team is purchasing booties. (I hope we get some of those neon colors). It’s too late to start sewing booties now.
10:23 am on February 2nd, 2012
Basil and Sage, and Snowhook Bella: Nothing scares an English professor, not even prepositions at the end of sentences.
10:24 am on February 2nd, 2012
The one missing yesterday was Siber H.
10:26 am on February 2nd, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom and Sam are missing also.
10:39 am on February 2nd, 2012
Rio – by nature of spy business, Natasha vorks alone. Ve cannot join von team or other. But rest assured ve vill be supporting the Snowhook.
Ve have spoken to Rebecca and have our mission orders from her.
Vhere is Natasha’s Siber doggie?
10:52 am on February 2nd, 2012
I’m here. I’m just catching up on last night’s activities.
Sam was off to the groomer yesterday. I’ll be seeing her tomorrow in between doctor’s appointments. I expect she will be beautiful and Wonderfluffy. Then for the rest of the weekend, I’ll be house/dog sitting for a friend.
10:58 am on February 2nd, 2012
Our local groundhog, Dunkirk Dave, did NOT see his shadow. He is the second longest predicting groundhog in the world.
11:05 am on February 2nd, 2012
Spence, Thanks for posting about Snowhook again. GO TEAM SNOWHOOK!!!
We don’t have groundhogs here, but I saw my shadow.
I can’t stand not knowing what the Newfs are doing. I wonder when one of them is going to tell us.
11:08 am on February 2nd, 2012
Hi Mollypop’s Mom and Siber H!
11:09 am on February 2nd, 2012
Moneyball…Mom bought the movie for me the first week it came out because they are always on sale that first week. We haven’t seen it yet. Mom says we are waiting until it gets a bit warmer and closer to baseball season…go figure.
11:10 am on February 2nd, 2012
Hey there, Stover!
11:13 am on February 2nd, 2012
No shadows here either. WoooHooo! Spring is right around the cornor!
Siber-H, where are you…..
11:13 am on February 2nd, 2012
Oops! should have refreshed!
11:21 am on February 2nd, 2012
Alice: Checking in to report…funds on their way sometime today.
Where’s Melanie?
11:23 am on February 2nd, 2012
Bella: Sorry…fell asleep at my post last night.
Check in as soon as you can.
11:27 am on February 2nd, 2012
MoneyBall!….SiberH, I can 100% guarantee you will love that movie…snort! ….Now after seeing it I am all excited about Spring Training….sniff!sneeze!… Except there is a huge storm moving our way – or that’s what the WeatherMan says. I wonder what WeatherKat predicts….wuffle!
11:49 am on February 2nd, 2012
Rio: As you know, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 5pm tonight through 11 pm Friday – with a 70% chance of snow on Saturday. With 6 to 10 inches accumulation expected, tomorrow looks like a good day for your friend to stay home from work – WeatherKat

11:49 am on February 2nd, 2012
Woodstock Willie did not see his shadow either. For the past 20 years, since the movie Groundhog Day first came out, they have had a Groundhog celebration on the square in Woodstock. He says we will not have another 6 weeks of winter (what winter?)
12:07 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Hello All! Spence and Admin, thanks for the great PR for Snowhook and our funraising efforts.
Punxatawny Phil always sees his shadow, because of all the T.V. lights on him…poor guy. Those other groundhogs sound like much better prognosticators.
We will be looking for Groundhog Day (the movie) on Prime tonight. We just love that movie and, you can watch it over and over and over and… Well, you get the picture.
Rio and Alice, you need to give Chet your contact info in a way that is somehow safe to post, so that all the lurkers can join your teams.
12:13 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Woodstock Willie…Dunkirk Dave…who are these guys?
WeatherKat is endorsing Siber’s Shadow, a most reliable forecaster of winter for the western US of A.
Howlers: Groundhog Day is a classic! (and one of our all time favorites)

I’m here! Good Morning All! Had to get punctured and then sand the driveway and then say hello to the Pack and then read last night’s comments!
So I loved, Hey, hey Rose! KNOCK IT OFF! OW! YOU LITTLE ….
12:28 pm on February 2nd, 2012
(Gracie here, we have a really important mission. I’m going to tell you what it is. You see, we’re all going to get together and blur over to …)
GRACE! GET AWAY FROM THAT COMPUTER NOW!
BAD PACK! YOU KNOW THIS IT TOP SECRET!

Gasp!…10 ta 15 inches!!…blimey!
12:37 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Melanie, what is that over there? Behind you…
12:45 pm on February 2nd, 2012
OleyHowlers, I have eyes in the back of my head. Just ask my guys!
Zoe and I have enjoyed the videos. I want to be a Space Cat! And those dogs camping were just like our Pack when there is a noise they don’t know.
Now I have to work for YSAS. Today he’s working SVU. He’s a bartender twice, working as a donut shop clerk and then outside background. The casting dude realized that YSAS can change his look and you can’t tell it’s the same guy.
12:59 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Wow, Melanie, you will have to let us kow when that SVU airs.
Groundhog Day, as Barb reported before, was filmed in Woodstock, IL., a quaint and charming town, where Lil’ Joshie lives. Barb remembers when they filmed it, as it was big news in Woodstock. Murray rented a house outside of town for $5,000 per month, probably peanuts to him.
12:59 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Clarkson!…He is just as awsome as Bryan Cranston!…Wooooo!
1:00 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Masquers: No need to worry. I, um, might have fell asleep at my post, too. AJ arrived home late, but safe. Thanks to you and T&G for staying up with me.

Back for a minute.
I’ll try to find out which episode it is,
AND
found a picture of Macy’s fireball.

Rio, Your friend needs to think of a way NOT go to the busy place tomorrow.
Gracie, (whispering) Call Me
1:18 pm on February 2nd, 2012
SVU!…What does that stand for again?….grunt!
1:20 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Bella: Thanks for checking in. Am I seeing things, or is the temp in Willow hovering around 36 degrees? Must feel like a tropical heat wave!
Rio: Bill is now officially one of the olds…starting fires…on national tv no less.
Siber: You must tell your mom what a great movie Moneyball is. Perhaps she will reconsider waiting until spring to watch it.
Melanie: Great picture of last night’s meteor!
Howlers: Forget to tell you how much we enjoyed the Subaru Dogs Camping video. Those are great commercials!
1:33 pm on February 2nd, 2012
It’s the Law and Order Special Victims Unit.
I’m now done with work. Now I just have to clean the kitchen, do the laundry, clean my room …
1:34 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Camping!….I love the Camping video….snort!….Somehow I can imagine all of us doing that one day….chorkel!
1:38 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Masquers: It is 30 degrees at the kennel right now. That is a 66 degree difference than last week. I didn’t get out of bed and get the fire going again right away like I usually do.
Newf Pack: Stay strong.
1:59 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Barb&Magpie: You mentioned the other day that Shirley MacLaine will be joining Downton Abbey for Season 3. Should be interesting to see her interactions with Maggie Smith. Sadly this season is fast coming to a close…last episode airs on Feb. 19th.
Good news on the literary front: We have borrowed “that book” and will soon commence reading the 850 plus pages. Trying to finish a couple books from the library first.
Melanie: Rio is right…YSAS is a most valuable commodity if he is able to change his persona for different scenes. As we said last night, Bryan Cranston is phenomenal in that regard. Not many actors can do this. Seems they don’t act so much as just continue to portray themselves.
2:02 pm on February 2nd, 2012
I missed the camping video. Is it on yesterday’s blog?
2:03 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Hi everyone – Mama has been having a joyful, singing, happy morning. She sent Dad off to work, Gramp is out visiting friends, and she got to be in her Mud Room uninterrupted for hours. Music playing (Melanie – love the Piano Guys!), sanding and carving clay….life is SO good!
So, yes, the CL did indeed try to pull one of her little “pitiful me” tricks. CLL runs a food drive every year for a local food bank. Last year Mama, with a lot of assistance from Dad, worked her tail off and helped the team raise more than 3000 pounds of food. So, AFTER Mama had signed out and turned in her keys the other night, CL starts whining about how she is SO worried about this year’s food drive – she is just SO tired and busy. It really needs someone with TIME to organize. And she just doesn’t see how SHE can do a good job, what with having to go babysit her #$%^&*&^ grandchild.
Mama listened to her, and then said, “well, good luck with that” and sashayed out the door. She even remembered that sassy little swing of the hips we taught her.
Professor Bee – you are truly a formidable woman to stand up to bad grammer and spelling from a bunch of smart alec Kats. Wish we had you for our school days.
2:11 pm on February 2nd, 2012
B: Yes, the Subaru Dog’s Camping video is included in last night’s posts.
2:14 pm on February 2nd, 2012
On the Twilight Side at 8:26 by the O.Howlers.
2:22 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Bear, Nana will enjoy that book!
Barb is currently reading Save Me by Lisa Scottoline. Has anyone else read it? Generally we really like her, but for some reason her characters are mildly annoying.
We are awaiting the thrird Andy Carpenter book, Bury the Lead.
2:25 pm on February 2nd, 2012
I watched the video. That’s good!
T&G: Could you explain “sanding” clay?
2:26 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Vacation!….Speaking of camping and vacations and having fun, fun, fun!…snort!… My friend just reserved a cabin in the mountains for 4 whole days….snuffle!…She says she cannot and will not take me and Beau with her. It’s the Rules, she says…grump!… This little get-away from us is not until the first weekend of August, so we have plenty of time to get on her nerves…heh!
2:44 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Computer problems here at work, will post after I get home this evening.
2:58 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Rio – the cabin in the woods sounds wonderful. Should we start stocking up on Carmello bars to send with your friend?
Bee – working with clay is fascinating. It goes through different levels from wet mud to final piece, and each stage has its own properties.
When starting a piece, the clay must be at its most pliable – very wet, but still able to hold a shape. The next stage of drying is called “plastic” when the water is starting to evaporate, but the clay is still rather bendable. It is stiffer, but can’t have too much stress without changing shape. The next stage is “leather”. At that point, the clay is cold from the evaporating water. It must be handled carefully as it feels durable but is still just wet, unfired clay. This is the stage where carving can be done, or refining of lines that were molded into the item. Leather stage also has a unique characteristic that it will totally change its “face” if polished with another medium. As with Pueblo pottery, the most common medium is a smooth stone. Firm, yet delicate polishing turns the unfired clay into a shiny, satin smooth finish.
The next stage is “bone”. At this stage, most clay items need to be literally sanded, which can be done with a variety of textured sanding pads. Anything from a course pad similar to a kitchen type pot/pan scrubbing pad to something as fine as a nylon stocking or very fine sandpaper, used in in conjunction with each other, or as a single step to accomplish a specific texture. This is where clean, crisp lines come from, and smooth interior surfaces.
After all that, the piece needs to be wiped off with a damp sponge to remove dust, and it is now ready for the first firing. That is a lower temp firing designed to remove the last vestiges of moisture so that the piece won’t explode with trapped steam oarticles.
After the low fire, the piece is allowed to “cure” for a day or two, and then the first glaze is applied if desired. Each color or type of glaze requires another firing, so you want to be sure that your base glaze requires the highest temperature, your next decorative glaze fires a little lower, and each subsequent glaze fires at a lower temp, so as to not disturb the underlying glazes, which will only melt at their own distinct temperature level.
If you remember the big bears we showed, they had multiple layers of glazing, which is where the drip effect comes from.
And now that you know more than you ever thought you wanted to know about clay – Mama is going back to the Mud Room.
Talk to you all later tonight.
2:59 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Good for your friend, Rio, for reserving the cabin in the mountains! Mom always takes me, and two of you pugs wouldn’t add up to one of me. I’m just sayin…
3:32 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Two!….My friend says “Two Pugs is 50+ pounds of ornery!”…snort!
Clay!…Sounds like Paper is a lot easier to work with…heh!
3:42 pm on February 2nd, 2012
T&G: That is really interesting. Thank you.
3:47 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Just got back some of my lab reports. A+++
(Of course, they didn’t do any of the liver ones. snicker)
4:11 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Good news Melanie.
4:17 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Four days away!! Sounds good to me. I’m sort of glad you’re not going Riö. Remember the howling in the camping video. Don’t need you to be an appetizer!
So I’m beginning to feel better than I have in months. No cross contamination with gluten, no flu. There’s hope. I’m also catching up on things that I was supposed to do awhile ago.
Speaking of which …
Remember that first coil pot the Royal’s Mum did?
This is it done (in my room!!!)

4:19 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Melanie: That is great news!
Some folks have emailed asking when is the deadline for getting photos to snowhook. Photos should be North in Alaska by the 27th of this months so I can prepare them for the time on the trail.
4:31 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Uhhhh, Bella, tell me again how big? 4X6 right?
T&G, tell your mom to check your SDD. Your photo is ready.
(so is the Herbals, but you don’t have to tell them that.)
4:41 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Melanie: Yes, you are correct. 4″x6″ photographs, if you please.
4:55 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Melanie, very good news on the bloodwork and glad you have that pot that we love. The Royal’s Mum should do more like that.
pssst What are the Newfs doing?
5:46 pm on February 2nd, 2012
We sent a 4×6 photo today with $$$ for Feed the Giant.
Barb just read that Bolt, the dog in the Super Bowl ad might be an Australian Shepherd/St.Bernard mix. Will do some more research. Sure looks like an ES, althought his face might be a little broader than most.
5:56 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Barb!…That’s how The Feed The Giant Team rolls!….Wooooo!…We have someone on our team who purchased $40.00 worth of protein bars for AJ…snort!…Was it Golinka who said those were just Candy Bars?…heh!…I’m sure he will Love them!…chuffle!
6:06 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Sounds like AJ is going to be the envy of the other mushers on the trail. They will all be coming to him for protein bars, jerky, clementines and peanut butter-brownie sammiches.
We think there should be an award for Best Fed Musher – our Giant would surely win!
Melanie – our picture is PERFECT! But sadly the Kats have decided that they don’t want to go along, so you can just ditch that picture. They said that until they saw that picture, they didn’t realize just how funny looking they are, so they are too embarrassed to have their pic on the sled. They wouln’t want AJ to be humiliated if anyone saw that pic and asked him who those two scruffy, unattractive, furball hacking beasts were. So – just go ahead and throw it away.
6:07 pm on February 2nd, 2012
HEY!!!!
CORGIS LIE!!!!!!
6:30 pm on February 2nd, 2012
It sounds like one or both duos might end up in a box…
I agree—AJ will be the best fed musher. Ever.
6:54 pm on February 2nd, 2012
I do hope you are going north in February, HerbKats. Being of Norwegian descent you would surely feel right at home. You all saw my SnowKat picture at FOC so you know moi is also acclimated to the colder temperatures. We can look forward to singing songs around the campfire. I’ve heard tell you have exceptional voices.
7:23 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Hey, y’all! Happy Groundhog’s Day! One year for her birthday, Dad got Mom a copy of the “Groundhog Day” script, autographed by Bill Murray! And this morning he gave her a pewter groundhog pin, so she celebrated Groundhog’s Day all day long!
7:32 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Kirby, Is GHG your mom’s birthday?
Melanie the pottery piece that you have is gorgeous!
7:41 pm on February 2nd, 2012
B&M: It all started a long, long time ago. (Oh, wait. Mom says it was only 30 years ago.) Anyway, Grandma (who wasn’t Grandma yet!) decided to get married on Groundhog’s Day because my absent-minded professor Grandpa wouldn’t be able — or perhaps I should say he would be less likely — to forget his anniversary. Then exactly one year later Mom was born. So now Grandpa has two things to remember on Groundhog’s Day. (Now if he could just remember how to spell Mom’s name….) So those of you doing the math, that means Mom is 29 today. But how is my boy 30? Oh, Mom says never mind that part!
7:43 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Autograph!….You’ve got Bill Murray’s autograph!…snort!… Now that’s impressive to us guys who like to collect autographs…wheeze!
7:47 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Rio: Do you have any idea what Team Feed the Giant has collected so far? I’m glad your friend has reserved the cabin. She deserves it!!
SiberH: I would trust your shadow more than a groundhog’s.
7:49 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Melanie, we are happy to hear your good test results, and we love the coiled pot.
Barb and Maggie, NPR did a piece on Woodstock, IL and their Groundhog Days. That place sounds like a lot of fun.
Kirby, those are both Excellent gifts.
We didn’t get time to look for the movie on Prime…we will look after dinner.
We are very happy that youse will be joining us on the sled, but please don’t tell Buddy and T.C. We didn’t invite them along. Buddy would keep licking everyone until we were all frostbitten, and T.C. would scratch anyone not willing to let her off the sled. Did we say how much we love those guys?
7:52 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Donations!…. Rose, Team Feed The Giant has so far pledged $1160.00 plus a Bunch of Baked Goodies plus $40.00 worth of Protein Bars!…..Woooooo!…Way to go Team!…snort!…Unfortunately, the 2 Caramello have mysteriously disappeared…sniff!
7:55 pm on February 2nd, 2012
KIRBYT!! Do you mean to tell me that it’s your MOM’S birthday??
7:56 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Kirby: Sounds like you have a wonderful mom and dad. Their special gifts to one another say it better than words ever could.
Happy Birthday to your mom!!!
8:00 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Rio: WooooooHooooo! A search party must be sent out for the Caramello. Are there any MGs around????
Royal Mum: You are my hero!!!!
Kirby T: Is it your mom’s birthday??? Many happy returns of the day to her!
8:01 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Melanie: Yep! The only problem is that Dad had a basketball game on Monday, when he usually has duty, so he had to trade duties with someone in order to go to his basketball game. (Which they only lost by 3 points — kind of a moral victory!) He obviously wasn’t thinking clearly, so he traded with someone for Thursday night. Which means Mom is sitting here all alone on her birthday. 🙁 What am I saying? She’s not all alone — she has me!!! 🙂
8:04 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Kirby!… Give yer Maw a slurpy Ground Hog Birthday kiss for me!…snort!snort!
8:07 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Dads have been known to make bonehead moves.
8:08 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Happy 29th birthday to KirbyT’s mom!
8:10 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Happy Birthday, Kirby’s Mom. Kirby is right, you’ve got him right now. What else could you possible need?
8:17 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Hey all. Everything is fab in my world. Mom bought me a new snuggle. It is an unstuffed fuzzbutt with a squeaker in the head. I love to carry this thing around, toss it in the air, and fetch it when mom throws it. Mom is sipping on a gin and tonic and says that things are looking pretty good in her world too. Heh.
Mom is still having trouble breathing. Doc put her on a 5-day dose of Prednisone. She can breathe when she takes the drugs. Stop the meds and she gets all out of breath and dizzy. She’s off to the doc next week Monday to see what the hey ho. Hopefully she’ll be able to breathe enough over the weekend. On the positive side, the tendonitis in her right elbow has cleared right up since mom’s changed where she puts her arm when she is on the computer.
Just making sure there is no confusion: Mom found that picture of the cute doggy in the mailbox. It is just a picture; no other 4-leggeds will be added to this happy family. With mom’s allergies and asthma, she can only tolerate poodles and bichons, and only one of those at a time. I’m the king of my world and won’t be sharing the throne with anyone. I acknowledge princess Sam as a worthy member of the royal class, but I’m still the king here in the middle of the mitten.
8:25 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Middle!….I wonder what it’s like to live in the middle of a mitten…heh!…Jasper has all the fun!…snort!
8:28 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Jasper: Sorry to hear of your mom’s asthma problems. Nothing worse than not being able to breathe. Prednisone is very helpful, but not supposed to be taken long term. Does she use an inhaler?
8:32 pm on February 2nd, 2012
SiberH!….Guess what’s coming this Summer?…snort!….And I’m not talking about Baseball….heh!
8:33 pm on February 2nd, 2012
I think all of us need to breath easier. In more ways than one!
Now I’m getting tired and about ready to go to sleep. I didn’t have time to cook!
So I ran out and got some donuts. There should be enough for all!
TTFN
8:50 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Those donuts look wonderful! Happy birthday Kirby T’s mom.
Jasper: I hope your mom starts feeling better. She may need an inhaler. I use one.
It’s been very mild in the mitten so far this winter.

Jasper, That was an adorable puppy, but a Corgi pup in a 1 bedroom room apartment, with nothing but you to herd, might be a bit much. No offense, T & G.
Happy Birthday to Kirby’s mom. No fair keeping it a secret!
Barb just found the book Sutart Little by E.B. White when she was looking thru an old storage cabinet. It was written in 1945. Barb loved Charlotte’s Web, but had never read Stuart, so she started glancing thru it. Mrs. Little lost a ring down the bathtub drain, when she was – get this – cleaning the tub after Mr. Little’s bath. Unh? Did women used to do that? Hows come he didn’t clean his own dirty bathtub?
Oley, Barb loves Woodstock, and she will relocate to that area when this place finally sells.

Justified!….WoooooWeeeee!…. We are watching the 2nd episode and loving it!….snort!….I wonder if Mr. Staff is still watching the show. He really should start from the beginning to get a real feel for all the characters….yup!

Happy Birthday, Kirby’s Mom!!
Rose, Thank you
Hi Jasper and hope your mom gets to feeling better.
9:18 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Great news, Rio! We did have such fun at the Winter Olympics, which were held in British Columbia. Rio and I attended them, as some of you know. I still miss them.
England is one of my favorite countries (as long as I can avoid Royal Weddings)
BTW To quote my local weatherman tonight, “Colorado is getting plastered”.
9:20 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Oley, Aren’t the Penn. Dutch the ones that have “seven sweets and seven sours” at the dinner table? Barb thinks she remembers that from somewhere way back in her gourmet cooking period.
9:34 pm on February 2nd, 2012
China!….Why did I say China!?….heh!….Vancouver, that’s where we were….snort! ….I could never make the trip to China, that’s too far away…sniff! ….England will be a blast and a half!….chorkel!
Plastered???….ugh!…My friend is pretty sure she is staying home tomorrow…yipppeeee!

China!?
Rio: I don’t think so! Don’t you remember the Canadian women’s hockey team lolling around on the ice smoking cigars and drinking beer after winning Gold? Or the Canadian Men’s hockey team beating the U.S. team in overtime for Gold?! Seems to me a young man name of Sidney Crosby scored the winner.
Kirby T: Tell your mom happy birthday and your grandmom and granddad happy anniversary. And Happy Groundhog Day, too.
9:48 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Dawson!…Yes!Yes!…sniff!…It is all coming back to me. The drunken Canadian women’s hockey team….heh!… I have no Idea why I was thinking of all those Chinese drummers…heh!…Although, that is such a vivid memory I will always have of the Olympics, I guess. …chorkel!
9:48 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Happy Birthday To Kirby’s mom– forever 29 is a terrific thing.
Groundhog Day is one of our favoritemost all time movies too. Remember, don’t drive angry!
B&M. Re Lisa Scottoline, she is one of my dad’s favorite authors and a truly neat person too. We’ll post more about her tomorrow, too long for a night post to tell the whole story. (And like Rosenfelt, she also loves goldens.)

Finally finished reading the blog. I see that the Feed the Giant team has gone over 1000.00 dollars but Alice’s team doesn’t care. We reached our goal of 1000 booties and we are damn proud of ourselves!
I wonder if AJ likes pumpkin, pecan, gingerbread? Staff makes a wonderful loaf of that.

Booties!…Yes, booties are important and that’s why I personally do not understand why with all the talented Seamstresses on this here blog the booties were not made more cheaply by volunteers…grunt!…Someone, please explain this to me as I am a member of a Non-Sewing household…wuffle!….Seems like this whole $1000.000 task could have been accomplished a long time ago. Isn’t buying Booties more expensive than making them? Or am I missing something here???…gruffle!
Achievement!…And I am not an any way putting down the most excellant achievment of the Shake Yer Bootie Team ..snort!… I am just asking a question that may or may not help us plan better in the future…grunt!
10:37 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Dear Rio,
Would you want to make 1000 little cards? Just saying.
10:44 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Asken!….I’m just asking AbbieTheKat, I am not accusing….snort!
10:48 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Rio: From what I’ve read about booties: They cost about $1. each to buy. The material costs quite a bit and with the time and then postage, I don’t think it would be much cheaper to make them. Plus, there are limited seamstresses on the blog. Staff’s antique machines can’t make them. So…buying them is the way to go.
Rebecca can correct me if I am wrong on that.
10:48 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Well, we are members of a non-sewing household too. Can;’t even imagine making thousands and thousands of booties.
Masquers – sorry we missed you before bedtime. Don’t listen to those stoopid Corgis. We are too going North for the race. We can’t wait to sit around the campfire and sing songs with you. We do indeed have the most wonderful voices – just ask CHarris – she is always asking us to sing.
Melanie – good on ya with A+ test results. So very glad to hear it.
We are off to bed – long day supervising the Mud Room, and then watching all the baking going on tonight. Whew – we’re just plumb worn out. Good night all.
10:55 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Rio: I’m to blame. There were a few times since this summer that I had funds saved to purchase the materials to make booties. Unfortunately, the funds had to be used for something else: dog food. In the race season we increase the amount and quality of dog food and this year we have a larger pool of racers in our kennel. We would buy dog food, my puggy bank would be empty, I would start saving again, and once again we would need to buy dog food. I reached out to potential corporate sponsors with the hopes that they could cover some of the cost of booties, but nothing has been solidified to date; one said they would do something, but hasn’t said the amount, yet. At this point of the game, it would be cutting it close to order and make booties by the time we our drop bags are due. Thankfully, thankfully, when you mentioned additional fund raising on this here blog, Alice contacted me and voluntold Staff for helping with booties. Between the two of them, they put together a team that has rivaled the Feed the Giant team—both of which, have my deepest gratitude.
10:56 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Cost!…If you guys can really buy them at $1.00 a piece …snort!…that does seem like a deal and a half. My freind says she really hopes some little girl sitting in a sweat-shop in another country isn’t having to make them all…grunt!….What colors will the Snowhook A-Team be wearing this year?….snorkel!
10:57 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Wookie, Barb has read eveyone of Lisa Scottoline’s books. And we know what you are going to say about her liking Goldens. I think she had 2 or 3 when she started writing. I bet you have some interesting stories about her. Also, we know that she is a real lawyer, like your pops.
Rosenfelt has Tara, a Golden, in his first stories, and at the end of # 2 he got involved in a rescue organization he named the Tara Foundation, which Rosenfelt did in real life.
If you tell the story tomorrow we might miss it, because Barb is leaving tomorrow morning and not coming back till Sat. evening. Could you wait and tell that story on Sunday, to make sure she doesn’t miss it?

Snowing!…Well, it is snowing….dammit! ….We here are all hoping for a full-out blizzard because some one really does not want to drive all that way on icy roads to the not-busy-at-all place…grunt!…The @sshole who walks around taking names has made a new rule. No working from home. My friend will have to take a Vacation Day as a Snow Day tomorrow….grumble!…She doesn’t care right now, as long as she has enough time left by August to go away to the Cabin In the Mountains…heh!
11:16 pm on February 2nd, 2012
Dear Rio,
Tell your friend to stay safe tomorrow. I wonder if the butt plug who goes around taking names will even come in. Sounds like a good day for a vacation day anyway. Friday, long weekend, YIPPEE!
Night all!

Snow-Day!… If the weather-guys are right she will definitely be staying home with us tomorrow…heh!…If they are wrong, which is usually the case, she will try to make it into the not-very-busy place….grunt!… If the @sshole does not make it in, she will probably leave early…heh!heh!

Thanks for discussing your ideas on this blog. Also, a fairy tale regarding the banking companies intentions any time talking about foreclosed is that the loan company will not take my repayments. There is a certain amount of time which the bank is going to take payments every now and then. If you are far too deep within the hole, they may commonly desire that you pay the actual payment entirely. However, that doesn’t mean that they will have any sort of payments at all. Should you and the bank can find a way to work a little something out, the foreclosure practice may stop. However, in the event you continue to neglect payments wih the new approach, the property foreclosures process can pick up exactly where it left off.

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this website.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult
to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and appearance.
I must say you’ve done a awesome job with this.
Also, the blog loads super fast for me on Safari. Excellent
Blog!
