Snoopy Yesterday, Lucy Today

“Here,” says Spence, “we have the world’s officially smallest working dog, a two-and-a-half pound Yorkie named Lucy.”

“What kind of work?” says Admin.

“Therapy,” Spence says. “She looks like a natural.”

Lucy is a sweetie. Her owner did a great job. Little dogs can be aggressive and people tend to think that is “cute”. This is a real working dog! She’s just aa tad too small for our household.

Hmmm. I know this audition is for a V/O (voice over) but for what? Don’t know. This was done by his agents.

I think I will stay out of puzzles way.

Good Morning, Melanie, Chet, Spencer, Admin,
Lucy is very sweet. It is unusual for a tiny dog to be so relaxed, isn’t it? Good for her human that she was rescued!

Welcome to the regal Brandy and the cautious Stewie. I’d be cautious too if someone named me Stew.
Little Lucy has a good job and twirls for treats. 🙂

Everyone please note that Brandy has been welcomed today as a FOC. (Wish his picture had been cropped to include his entire nose.)

Riö, I’m not even going to LOOK at that link. 🙂

Brandy FOC. A great title for a great dog.

7 inches and counting. Getting to be a wet snow. Will it turn to rain? Can never tell her in the hills.

I can’t use the snowblower anymore. That’s Jesse’s job. BUT, when I was getting the Element out from under the snow and went right through the 7 inches and then the mound at the end of of the driveway, I thought why not just use the Element to push the snow down?

IT WORKED! Both driveways have been flattened (for now) and I didn’t get tired! I even talked to YSAS on the hand held out in the driveway while I was warming up the cars!

Oh, an the audition (taking place now) is for a commercial.

  13. Riö – The Evil Pug

Commercial!….Yeeep!!….I hope it is for a Superbowl commercial…heh!…Think of all the millions and zillions of eyes that would get to see Clarkson….snort!

We don’t usually talk politics here, but mom says that she would never vote for anyone who ties his dog on top of a car for a 12 hour ride is heartless. Seamus was so terrified that he had the runs. Mitt pulled over, hosed off the car and Seamus, and put him back on top of the car and kept driving.

    Mitt is a meany. Grrrrrrrr

Barrack would never, ever do that to Bo.

    Lucy is adorable.

Kim Kardashian is being replaced by a dog in a Super Bowl ad. Maybe there is hope for this world.

    Welcome Brandy as FOC!

Melanie, Mom uses her truck to push down snow in the driveway during the rare times it snows enough. No one in their right mind would own a snowblower in this country. They don’t seem to believe in shoveling snow either.

Here we are at four inches of snow. Still snowing right now, but much smaller flakes and some rain.

  18. Barb & Maggie
    11:03 am on January 12th, 2012

Wolfie, We had not heard that story about Mitt. Will have to Google and get more details. As you all know, we here are Obama/Bo fans, but we thought Mitt was better than most of the choices out there on the other side. Now we are wondering!

Lots of white stuff in the air here, and no chance of it turning to rain. Was in the 50’s Tuesday, may get down to 0 tomorrow. Hard for the chickens and goaties to get used to such drastic temp changes. Tues. the goats were out in the pasture, basking in the sun, today they wouldn’t even stick a nose out of the barn.

Here’s an interesting Yorkie story. We get emails from Home Again, my microchip guys. Seems a Yorkie went missing in Texas while his owner was in the service. Showed up 6 months later, walking down a four lane highway in St.Louis. Someone rescued him before he got run over, thank Dog. When he was checked for a chip at the vets, they were able to locate his owner. He’s not saying where he was for those 6 months, but I bet he didn’t walk to Missouri!

    Mr.Husky.

Mr.Staff and I went to Moneyball. It is a baseball movie. It is about change and statistics and what is most important in your life, family or money. It is not a classic baseball movie. It is an interesting, funny and sad movie. Mr. Staff told me the coach played by the black guy is playing Ron Washington who was a coach for the team at that time. He has the line “It’s incredibly difficult.”

I enjoyed differently than I thought I would. It is one of those movies that keeps growing on you after you see it.

Mr.Staff also told me that the only reason this movie was made is that Brad Pitt wanted the story told. There is a book too which now I want to read.

Wolfie, Just read the article about poor Seamus. It was a long time ago, but Mitt is not apologizing at all. He actually says the dog liked it and would have rather been up there for 12 hours, instead of in the car with the family. Wow! Not only was it cruel, it was illegal!

For all of you out there (you know who you are) experiencing, as Natty would say “the base of balls” withdrawal, this sportskat’s recommendation is Moneyball. The two hour trip down memory lane with this true story will be just the ticket to cure your winter-time blues.
As Staff has mentioned previously, there is also a book: Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game.
Rio do put this one in your queue. I’m sure both you and Siber would enjoy the movie and the book.

We can just picture teeny, tiny Lucy Twirling for Treats. Have you noticed how the majority of the shelter dogs saved prove to be some of the most talented guys and gals of the Nation?

Wolfie: This guy is now on our List and not a good one! Dogs against is something we can be For.

SnowBella, Melanie, Royals, Barb&Magpie: Looks like a Winter Wonderland in your parts. Stay cozy warm.
And, Staff, safe trip home for you and Mr Staff to Minnesota.

Rio: If that is what I think it is, there will be no clicking here on thatthere link. Many hours were whiled away yesterday on the Husky puzzle. Nana is not good at these. Oh, but they are addictive!

Sammy: Poor MollysMom. Just because all those white cars rudely drove in front of her that one time she was trying to take a picture…..
B: Apparently it was either Brandy’s ear or nose that couldn’t make it into the picture, so it was decided to include part of each.

Okay…When we finally bravely clicked on it. we found Rio’s link not to be what we had thought it was after all. The subject reminded Nana of a doctor’s admonition of yesteryear: Don’t put anything bigger than your elbow into your ear (or your foot into your mouth)

O.Howlers: Siber-H and Rio recommended that book a few months back. It sounds good.

Dawson: Have been meaning to ask…did the Angel check out okay? The travel time wasn’t too extreme (16 days) being that it was the holiday mailing and all. You really aren’t that far away, but those border crossings can really slow things down.

Snickering here. I thought it was about basketball! Oh, well.

I am feeling better. Had the energy to pack away the Christmas village which had turned into the Zombie Christmas Village. What can I say? My guys are weird.

Driving back from the dump last night, I saw many hilltown people keep their outside lights up. I’ve thought about it and this is what I’ve come up with.

It’s dark here. No street lights, no ambient glow. I know a few of us have that going on around them. Cough, cough, Bella and Staff (not sure about OleyHowlers).

I think it’s a “here I am world” statement. When we go down either way from our high abode, it’s 30 minutes of DARK. Then out of the blackness comes colored lights.

    Sort of nice, really.

Wolfie, One more Rommney comment on the doggy issue. We went to that Dogs Against site and apparently the version of the story about Mitt hosing off the car as been cleaned up a bit. There is info from a family friend that he actually took the car through a car wash, with Seamus still on top. Sounds more like a multi-millionaire, then actually stopping and cleaning it himself. Wonder if Seamus got wonderfluffed at the same time!

Jasper, awwwwww that husky is cute!

Regarding lights: We had candles in all of our windows in December. Mom says she didn’t have a good night’s sleep all that month. All of our decorations, including those candles, were put away on 1/1, and Mom is now getting deep rems. We don’t see any lights from our place, but there are some neighbors not too far away who have outside lights. We love to drive around looking at Christmas lights, but when the holidays are over, we look forward to what we refer to as “The Abyss”.

A Plunderers Calendar sounds like a great idea, although my dad has already ordered the 2012 Snowhook calendar, so we may be set for awhile.

KirbyT was on the top of my page a moment ago and now SiberH is looking handsome as ever at the top of my page.

Plundering on along the trail with AJ! If you have a couple of pictures you can’t decide between, please send them both. If we have room and collectively, the photos aren’t too heavy, I will try to include them both. If not, please note which one is the priority to be on the trail.

Good ole Mitt has lost a few votes, even tho that is an old story. We just heard it, thanks to Wolfie.

Eleanor Roosevelt – In Dan’s book, White Wings, one of the characters, a liberal young minister, says he voted for FDR, because it was the next best thing to being able to vote for Eleanor. Maybe that is partially the reason that Eleanor the Newfie got that name!

Then your Dad will shovel the whole backyard making just the right space for you to go out and “do your business.” THEN you can leap and run through the snow beyond the shoveled area (heh-heh) just for fun. We’ve got 3.5 inches more coming our way tonight. Let’s see they called for 1.5 inches and we got 7 . . . So this means (doing higher math in my head) we probably won’t have any more.

I left the house at 330 in the morning to make it to the airport; I left so early because the forecast from the night before called for freezing rain. There is one road/highway from Willow to Anchorage. The radios finally went live by the time I made it to the halfway point; roads were closed, schools were closed and everyone was cautioned to stay home. I couldn’t turn around. Long story short, I missed my flight, made it to the office over 5 hours after I left my house. I was greeted by two co-workers who had braved the roads and made it to the office. They gave me strict instructions that I was to call one of my bosses who was at home asap. I thought she was upset that I missed my flight and would have to reschedule my meetings; I was trying desperately to make a good impression. Her exact words didn’t start with a greeting, but launched into, “We love you for your loyalty. We admire your for your dedication. But, don’t do a bone head thing like that again.” They had been worried because all they knew was that I was supposed to be on a plane, but never made it and I hadn’t answered my cell phone because I was concentrating on driving. She finished with, “Repeat after me: When the roads are bad, Rebecca stays home. Good. Say it again. Alright, now committ it to memory.”

Again we’ve hit that time where no one else is about. Happens now and then when Riö is awake later.

    So I’ll say TTFN

Going to see Dan in the morning after we met with the assessment dude.
He added some very interesting things to our assessment this year. Like a whole new part of the basement. Which is actually less than a crawl space being only 1 foot high. Love to see anyone crawl into that.

And two porches we don’t have and a new mud room. Which is actually the barn.
    Should be interesting.

    TTFN

Rio: An ear wax link! Seriously? That’s gross! Staff and I only did that once and only because our younger sister did it…and survived. It does feel really cool though…kinda like very bubbly champagne for your ears. Maybe I will try that again.
C.Harris: The book video was wonderful, however, the people who moved the books to make that video are crazy and have too much time on their hands. Oh…I now see they had volunteers. That’s okay then. Heh.
BearSpiritDog: The angel aromatherapy candle dealie arrived in perfect condition. I still have it but have not used it. The person to whom I may (or may not) give it to is in the Riviera. Am I expecting another delivery? A super fast one?

Dawson: The envelope should reach you by next week at this time. We like the version of magnet and decal you chose – it’s our favorite too.

Barb&Magpie: Barb you have a boss similar to one Nana worked for years ago. She would leave and let the rest of the office worry about the commute home. Maybe your CL can go work with Tupper&Gilly’s CL at the end of the month. At least then they can feed off each others drama and keep one another entertained.

Melanie: Living in a 200 year old house. That is so cool! Has it been classified as Historical?

    Rio: Your snow has melted?
If some snow doesn’t start falling in big dumps, the drought that MacyMinPin and SiberH. experienced last year is going to encompass the North as well.

Rachel is a neighbor of Melanie. Rachel stressed that if Romney said the dog loved to ride on the roof of Romney’s car, well okay sort of, but when the dog was in distress, he was hosed off and remained there, that’s abuse. Go Rachel!

They are calling this crate-gate. There are many animal lovers that will not vote for him just over this issue. If he said, “Hey, I’m sorry, it was probably not a good thing to do. In retrospect, we should have had him in the car with the kids”, I think that would be more favorable for him. Instead he sort of did that politican smirk, and said “I loved the dog, that’s all I got for ya”. Then he went on to say “We had a lot of dogs and we took good care of them” Then an aid ended the interview. Doubt if this is going to go away.

    Hi everyone –
    10 DAYS TO GO!!
TYB – loved the Amish Lights. tee hee

Bella – you are truly blessed to have not one but 3 good bosses. Maybe thats why there is such a shortage of them in I?llinois and Massachusetts.
Mama says she would almost be willing to move to Alaska and deal with the snow, ice, cold and dark if she could just have a good boss…..naw….she’ll just stay home and play with clay.

CL story of the day. There was a lot of snow and slush in the CLL parking lot. We have a terrible landlord who ignores potholes and dangerous conditions as long as possible, and who didn’t want to plow because “its supposed to turn to rain” CL is in Vermont – she calls in to see how the day is going – basically, Mama had a 5 hour shift and had 7 hour long appointments scheduled during that time – so the answer was “hectic and frantically busy” But when told about the very dangerous condition of the parking lot, CL tells Mama that she needs to go outside whenever she sees headlights, and tell the people coming in to be careful. CL thinks that will protect her from liability if someone slips and falls.

Mama seriously thought about “slipping and falling” on her way out of work, but that would mean she would have to deal with CL long after her Jan 31 deadline.

(p.s. – CL still has done nothing about finding a replacement – she keeps insisting that Mama won’t really leave. duh…)

Uh Huh!…This whole “quitting” the Crazy bad habit is going just as I predicted it will….snort!cough!….No ones going any where…sniff! …February 1st will feel like Gound Hog Day….chorkel!

  110. BearSpiritDog
    10:58 pm on January 12th, 2012

Tupper&Gilly: One thing we’ll miss in February is your mama’s CL stories. We think she should also consider changing her phone number.

Ruckus!….Well, we hear Beau raising some ruckus upstairs about going outside or going to bed or both….grunt!…So I have to sign off and make sure he gets in his own bed and not her mothers bed ….grump!….What a jerk he can be. Baseball season is going to spell his D-O-O-M….heh!heh!…I can’t wait!..snorkel!

Rio et al – you can beleive it – on February 1 there will be a cry of freedom like none heard by human ears before.

Ok, ok, so maybe that’s just a little bit over dramatic. But she is counting down the days. And stick a fork in her, cuz she’s DONE.

You all will have to start depending on Barb and Maggie for CL stories from that point on.

Or maybe Macy’s Mom will be finished with her new schooling and will find a fabulous job with great pay, good benefits, good hours, fun work, and…..a crazy boss.

And for now – good night friends. Sleep well, dream wonderful dreams and awaken to a happy day.
