Sneak Peeklet At The Sound And The Furry
“Peeklet?” says Spence.
“A tiny peek,” says Admin. “Derived, I believe, from Greek.”
Bernie rose, dropped more ice cubes into his glass, and tossed me one, which I caught in mid-air and crunched up in no time. Nothing like an ice cube to make your teeth tingle.
– coming Sept. 10.
Welcome Togo, seen here:

Hey Chet! Kat loves ice cubes too!
All of Boston is now on Shelter in Place. Our cousin Zoe has to pee, but isn’t allowed outside now!
Mom is still glued to her chair in front of the t.v. Us? We are hunting for any 4-footed terrorists that think of coming onto our farm.
8:37 am on April 19th, 2013
Gooood morning everyone! Only we of Canadian heritage here in the HOH like ice cubes. Oh, my, another day with news, news. Hope the doggie in West, TX is ok.
8:39 am on April 19th, 2013
Greetings O’Howlers:
I was glued to my tv before coming into work.
Tell Kat that I love crunching ice-cubes too. Makes my teeth feel better.
Good Friday, all!
8:39 am on April 19th, 2013
Top of the morning Sharon and HOH!
8:43 am on April 19th, 2013
Good morning all. We have the tv on too. Hope they catch this guy soon. They found them remarkably quickly. Evidently there may be a third person who is a relative of these two brothers. They are from Russia, sort of surprising.
Peeklet, what a cute word. Bee, can a word be cute?
Barb shares ice cubes with me and I love them. Water in any form is good.
8:43 am on April 19th, 2013
Same to Rose! Good to “hear” you in the a.m. (or any time for that matter)
8:58 am on April 19th, 2013
Good morning all.
On my way downstairs to put the TV on there. I’ve been watching on my iPaw. I wonder if there is any of the Nation Within helping in the search.
Chet, the Pack loves ice cubes in the summer.
Gracie is still hurting. Make sure there is room under our Plunderer quilt for my little one.
9:10 am on April 19th, 2013
Melanie, they do have K9s there helping with the search. Hope there are no more law personnel hurt before this 19 year old is caught.
9:16 am on April 19th, 2013
A peeklet is nice but a piglet wants more!
Togo: Something about you makes me want to wrap my arms around you and snuggle into your furriness.
Feel better soon, Gracie.
From almost Spring to middle of Winter in one day. The branches are falling over with the weight. Carpola!
Barb&Maggie: Is it still raining? I am going to Chicago next week for Chris’s memorial (sob).
9:18 am on April 19th, 2013
Annie says there is plenty of room for Gracie under the quilt. She is hoping Gracie doesn’t like carrots.
9:23 am on April 19th, 2013
Peeklet-little peek, piglet-little pig, owllet-little owl. (Had to work up to eggs) Does that make an omlette a little om?
9:39 am on April 19th, 2013
Dawson, No it is not raining. It is SNOWING! Will not amount to much. Next week is supposed to be warmer, but chance of showers every day.
Sharon, You are on the ball this morning. We never knew that about little Oms.
Gracie, feel better.
9:48 am on April 19th, 2013
News!…What in the world is happening?…sniff!…I have not listened to any news this morning and now I am wondering if I should or not…gah!
9:49 am on April 19th, 2013
Excellent first line (if it is the first line). Thank you Spence.
“Peek”–I don’t know about Greek but it is derived from Middle English “piken.”
Togo is regal.
Good morning all.
9:54 am on April 19th, 2013
Barb&Maggie: Oh, wonderful. Heh, heh.
I feel like having an omelet for breakfast.
10:07 am on April 19th, 2013
Dawson, Please don’t hurt any little oms!
Rio, big news on a city-wide sweep in Boston communities.
10:09 am on April 19th, 2013
Stover!…It could be the last line of the book too…heh!
10:14 am on April 19th, 2013
Rio: I guess we have to wait until September 10 to find out.
10:16 am on April 19th, 2013
Amazing what can come out of mom’s mouth when the baby bear doesn’t wake her up at 4 a.m. Wow, you Massachusettesites are all over the news, even the weather channel has info about the search!
10:22 am on April 19th, 2013
B: If the ice cube isn’t “the hook”, it would still make a fine hook for a chapter, yes?
10:23 am on April 19th, 2013
“Omelet” is derived from Latin “lamina,” a plate or thin piece of metal.
10:27 am on April 19th, 2013
The only reason O’Howlers do not want peop-lits to eat little oms?
They want to eat the chickens.
Did you all see what the NY Post did with that photo yesterday? Put up a photo of two guys talking. They had backpacks with them. The Post named them as the “Bag Men”. The men weren’t. The were two random guys at the marathon. The Post has not done a retraction or an apology. Their faces are in full sight. I would have a LOT to say if it were me.
10:27 am on April 19th, 2013
Sharon: For me the ice cube is an example of Chet living in the moment.
10:37 am on April 19th, 2013
ONE!…How hard is it to find one guy?…sniff!…On TV they make it look very easy…grunt!
10:54 am on April 19th, 2013
I have a memory of Spence posting the first line of the new book weeks ago. I can’t remember the line though. Is this my vivid imagination?
10:59 am on April 19th, 2013
Dawson!…I remember Admin trying to get Spencer to post a sneak-peek, but Spencer declined…sniff!
11:25 am on April 19th, 2013
Good Morning All
Mom says ditto to what Dawson said about Togo.
We are watching the news. It is addictive.
11:30 am on April 19th, 2013
Well, the Subaru is not happy. We took it the car v e t. He said two large ones to cure it. Hmmm. We will take it to a different v e t for a second opinion. We need it to go another year. Sigh.
The Element is happy.
Grace is having warm compresses on her leg today. Seems to be helping.
Dawson, I remember that also. Shared dream?
11:39 am on April 19th, 2013
Look at OFA post 3/28. He suggests a sneak peek. Admin. says too early (and yea, I might have too much time on my paws 🙂
12:02 pm on April 19th, 2013
Test: original HOH.
12:03 pm on April 19th, 2013
Well, back to the “upload” drawing board!
12:22 pm on April 19th, 2013
Callie is in love with Togo. She says she is also available for big furry hugs!

12:36 pm on April 19th, 2013
Hi Callie! I want to come dig with you again!
The Howlers say Togo is a very fine looking member of the Nation. I say, Togo sure is a cutie.
12:41 pm on April 19th, 2013
Toga!…My friend says she used to have a white Toga when she lived up in the mountains and drove a VW Bug…snort!
12:58 pm on April 19th, 2013
Callie is beautiful!
I wonder how C.Harris is doing.
1:02 pm on April 19th, 2013
Siber H: agree with you about Callie, a gorgeous girl. We bet the Hobbit is having a grand time in Sin City. She will probably go home with arm garters and a visor!
1:18 pm on April 19th, 2013
There was a tip to the police in Niagara Falls about 2 Russian Nationals in a car with Mass. plates. There are 4 suspicious backpacks in the car. The bomb techs and robots are on the scene. People are wondering about any connection to Boston because of the license plates.
1:19 pm on April 19th, 2013
Remember guys, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Hee hee
Barb says it was snowing so hard on the way to PT that she could hardly see the road. It wasn’t really snow as much as tiny hail or frozen rain.
Did anyone read a new book about the orphan trains from earlier in the last century? Evidently they shipped little kids out to the midwest to be adopted. Looked interesting, so we have it on order.
1:28 pm on April 19th, 2013
Togo and Callie make a wonderful couple. Togo so handsome, and Callie such a cutie-pie.
1:44 pm on April 19th, 2013
What goes on in Vegas, stays in Vegas…unless CHarris gets involved in one of those Vegas weddings. Oh no!
Melanie: What if our memories are correct and the rest are wrong? The world is up-side down, I’m telling ya.
1:48 pm on April 19th, 2013
Snow…Could be a foot of new snow (slush) out there and way up North in Canada, where I’d be if I wasn’t down here, they got 1 inch. Up-side-down and sideways, I tell ya.
1:48 pm on April 19th, 2013
Rio, did your friend have a Togo dog or a toga that she wore?
1:48 pm on April 19th, 2013
Togo and Callie are both polar bear-type dogs. About to head out again. See youse later, maybe much later. Everyone have a good day, stay safe, catch bad guys
2:04 pm on April 19th, 2013
Mr.Staff just brought in the New Yorker with the Iditarod article in it. I will read it after the dentist appointment. Now to dig out the car.
2:05 pm on April 19th, 2013
C Hobbit, Dawson is right, don’t end your night in one of those wedding chapels, with Elvis marrying you to the cute black jack dealer! Wowsers!
2:14 pm on April 19th, 2013
Staff!…Are you guys getting that storm that finally left here?…sniff!…Or is Dawson getting it..heh!
2:50 pm on April 19th, 2013
Rio: The sun has finally appeared but it is Winter in the Midwest.
I am going through a large box of old letters that has been stored in the closet for years. Some are written by my great grandfather. Wow – what excellent penmanship! Very interesting to see what Mom wrote to her parents about us kids. Heh, heh. And what we wrote to them about our kids.
4:15 pm on April 19th, 2013
Winter!…It looks like a Winter Day here too Dawson…sniff!…At least the sun is shining finally…grunt!…Now the big melt-down…sniff!
4:16 pm on April 19th, 2013
Boston!…Have they caught the perp yet?…grunt!
4:24 pm on April 19th, 2013
A quote from a letter Mom wrote to her parents in Oct. 1967: “I hope the Cardinals win the Series; after the Twins & the Tigers flunked out I was done with the American League. They’re all a bunch of bums.”
4:27 pm on April 19th, 2013
Rio, No they haven’t caught the guy yet. They are trying very hard and I am sure they are getting frustrated.
5:14 pm on April 19th, 2013
Isn’t it terrible that one guy can be responsible for the lock down of the entire city of Watertown, and most of Boston too?
Mama is out loading up the van – she is doing a one day show tomorrow. Back when she was in college, she was very active in the Native Students Assoc, and in ’78 they put together the first ever Pow Wow on campus. There have been ups and downs with the student group over the years, but they try to hold the pow wow every year, and Mama always tries to go. Two years ago, the Storyteller had just had one of his surgeries, and had to use a walker. The students took such good care of him, and had a special song sung for him. Last year, he was in better shape, but still needed a cane. He went to the dance circle for the Veterans’ Honor Song, a part of any pow wow, and the students honored Leonard by dancing behind him. This year, they know he will not be there in body, but the Head Lady Dancer has asked for the honor of dancing in his name. sniff.
Mama is doing a small give-away in thanks for all the students have done for them over the years.
So – Mama and Gramp are on their way over to the university to set the booth up tonight (another special privilege)and tomorrow she will be doing the show.
Wish her luck!
5:22 pm on April 19th, 2013
Good Luck, Amalia. Leonard will be going with you next year.
5:39 pm on April 19th, 2013
Wow,Amalia. You will do great, and we lnow the Storyteller will be there in spirit. T&G: Hope ya’ll know how lucky and special ya are to have those parents!
6:48 pm on April 19th, 2013
I am sure the Royal Mum will be great. Next year, the Storyteller will be leading that dance once again.
6:50 pm on April 19th, 2013

Wose: Open up! We brought Swedish fish!
7:02 pm on April 19th, 2013
Gun fire just errupted in Watertown, just after they told residents they could go out. They may be in a gun fight with him right now.
7:12 pm on April 19th, 2013
Reports are that the suspect is down.
7:23 pm on April 19th, 2013
Here’s hoping for an end to this terrible time.
7:43 pm on April 19th, 2013
We feel the need to grab a pant leg.
7:51 pm on April 19th, 2013
Send Chet to the scene. He could get this over with much faster!
Yes, pant legs are in order.
8:16 pm on April 19th, 2013
O’Howlers are under a tornado watch. Keep safe and keep your heads down!
8:19 pm on April 19th, 2013
Batten down the Howlers!
8:45 pm on April 19th, 2013
Reports are that they got him!!!
9:00 pm on April 19th, 2013

9:01 pm on April 19th, 2013
Looks like we’re getting the squall line in a few whiles.
9:16 pm on April 19th, 2013

Oleys, be safe.
Night all.
9:17 pm on April 19th, 2013
Keep safe o’nite all. Nighty night.
9:20 pm on April 19th, 2013
Home!….Well, someone finally got her sorry ass home…sniff!…Then we immediately went for a long walk. Then she had to open all her mail – some of which was ordered online for her Big Idea (oh brother)…grunt!…Now we are finally downstairs watching the Rockies game!….wooooo!…We have miss the first 2 plus innings…grump!
9:25 pm on April 19th, 2013
Rio: Can you give is a hint about your friend’s big idea?
9:26 pm on April 19th, 2013
Lefty!…Why? Do you want to steal it or chew on it?…heh!snort!burp!
9:28 pm on April 19th, 2013
Belle Starr are in bed snuggled under the blankets. We are warming the bed for Grizz. Many tummies are being given.
O’Howlers, please be safe!
9:31 pm on April 19th, 2013
Margarita-Ville!…Apparently my friend stopped off with some others who had a birthday this week too and had a grand ole Margarita bitch session…sniff!… This did not make her feel any better about anything, so she left kinda early compared to the good ole days when everyone was happy with the busy-place…wuffle!…Now it is just depressing to find out how unhappy everyone is because of this software conversion…wheeze!
9:33 pm on April 19th, 2013
Rose!…You are up late!…snort!…You and Melanie are becoming late-night bloggers…heh!
9:36 pm on April 19th, 2013

9:40 pm on April 19th, 2013
Rio: A thief never discloses his intentions.
9:43 pm on April 19th, 2013
Pancho!…My friend says it is not the right time to show anyone anything, especially Pancho and Lefty…snort!
9:45 pm on April 19th, 2013
Homerun!….Woooo Hoooo!…2 run home-run by Tulo!…snort!snort!…Now that will cheer up anybody, let me tell youse!…wheeze!
9:50 pm on April 19th, 2013
Boy Oh boy – just to show how tired we are – we just read that the Howlers were under a “tomato watch”.
Sheesh – we need to go to bed.
We wish all a safe, happy and healthy night.
9:52 pm on April 19th, 2013
We had to weather the worst of the big, bad storms all by ourselves. The ‘rents were off at the Art for Arfs Sake Preview Party. They said it was at a super cool modern BEAUTIFUL home, and the husband owner had all these Platinum records he made with Billy Joel and also Michael Bolten. He and his wife were very cool, as was their 4-legged Bull Terrior. What we don’t get is why they go to fundraisers for our guys and don’t take us with them. Then they come home and tell us how great the food was. No fair at all.
9:58 pm on April 19th, 2013
Howlers!…How Kool is that!? Don’t let Maskers hear or he will be very jealous indeed that your Maw and Paw got to see some Platinum Records in real life…snort!
10:00 pm on April 19th, 2013
Tupper!…What a Co-winky-dink!…snort!…When I first read Melanies post I saw “tomatoe watch” as well…heh!heh!…Then I thought, well it is Melanie, so who knows….chorkel!
10:03 pm on April 19th, 2013
Rio, can you believe they got to see those? And the guy was so nice and friendly. They had no idea who the owners were before they went to that party.
10:07 pm on April 19th, 2013
Rio,
Your friends busy place is sure having a lot of problems with the new software. It got put in place way last summer unless I am remembering it wrong. Goodness what a lot of trouble it has been.
Rose I am glad you are all under the quilt. Ihope you get some good tummies. 🙂
10:08 pm on April 19th, 2013
Howlers!…What was the guys name?…snort!…Was he a back-up musician?…sniff!…Maskers is gonna die of Green-Kat-Jealousy…heh!
10:09 pm on April 19th, 2013
Dawson is reading letters from 1860 and 1864 from Maggie’s family. The cursive is extremely elaborate and it is almost like a secret code. In the 1860 one our great aunt asks how our great grandfather views the political situation. I am leaving it to her. Maybe when I am more awake in the morning.
10:10 pm on April 19th, 2013
Staff!…You and I have no idea how bad it is…sniff!…And busy-season is in full force so my friend is really not herself lately…grump!
10:11 pm on April 19th, 2013
Visualizing what a tomato watch would entail. Made me laugh out loud.
10:13 pm on April 19th, 2013
His name is Schuyler Deale and he is a bass player.
10:14 pm on April 19th, 2013
Rio I was thinking that the season was slow starting this year, but that is just up North here I guess. We are already a month behind last year. No one has gotten in the field at all up here.
10:15 pm on April 19th, 2013
We don’t go on tomato watch around here until summertime. Then we watch for them every day.
10:17 pm on April 19th, 2013
Staff!…All I know is my baseball players are in the ball-field right now…snort!…That’s all anyone needs to know…heh!heh!
10:20 pm on April 19th, 2013
Howlers!…Yup! There he is – I googled him…heh!heh!
10:27 pm on April 19th, 2013
Rockies!….Wooo Hooo!…They are ahead 3 ta Nuthin’ right now…snort!snort!…The Snakes are going down tonight…heh!
10:28 pm on April 19th, 2013
Well, I was going to say something about it being too early in the season for a tomato watch, but several people have beaten me to it.
Up late to make sure some friends were okay. They are. They are glad the suspect is caught, and very glad to be out of their house.
Yaaaawwwwnnnn. Gracie’s swollen ankle is slightly better. Tomorrow we might try Golinka’s golinka poultice. Made with onions. Good thing I’m not going anywhere for the next two days.

11:06 pm on April 19th, 2013
Our Lady is getting ready to leave the office. We suspect all youse will be in our warm, soft beds with your baseball toys just so by the time she gets home. Night Nutter Butters.
11:08 pm on April 19th, 2013
Snort!….Did someone say Nutter Butters?…sniff!sniff!
11:15 pm on April 19th, 2013
We here are heading to our beds where there are no baseball toys but there are stuffedies of critter heritage.
Nighty night all.
11:18 pm on April 19th, 2013
WE are going to our bed too. Dawson beat us to it, but we will be there soon.
Nighty noodle.

2:31 am on April 20th, 2013
Belle Star reporting from under the quilt, here. I can report my very, most special best friend, Wose is the best tummy giver. Ever. I can also report that I love her very much. Grizzly, on the other paw, seems very lergic to her. Every time we see him it is sneeze this and wheeze that. We love him even if Wose gives him the sniffles. We have two-legged’s and four-legged’s under the quilt including horses and Newfs. We are still airing out where beau spent some squirty days. Smooch!
