Sneak Peek: The Sound and the Furry

Everything is different underwater: the sights, so blurry; the sounds, actually kind of clear; the smells, not nearly so strong as above water and coming to me in a different way, impossible to describe; and the feel, which is the best part.

But not now. Now it was all bad. I was spinning slowly in blackness and also going down. I didn’t want to go down, wanted more than anything to go up. Up was the only place not so completely black. Swim, big guy! You’re a good swimmer. Swim! Bernie’s voice, so clear he could have been right beside me. The truth was he was even closer than that. I swam toward the place of incomplete blackness.

OMD! Poor Chet! How is he going to get out of this one? And how on earth are we going to wait until Sept. 10? How many days is that?

On the other paw, we did get the New Robbie book on our Kindle! Hip Hip Hooray! Mom is twirling because it is right on time for her west-coast long flight.

We just now got caught up on yesterday/last night’s posts.
Staff: how do you plant a hanging basket???
Barb and Wookie’s Dad: we got our tomato plants from Laurel’s yesterday. We planted them last evening. They are Brandywine, Purple Cherokee, and Paul Robeson. (we think we heard those names right).
Wose, we did not see an envelope from you. Perhaps Kat did, but if so, she is not telling.
We have a picket-type fence around our garden and we have plastic bags and tin pans hanging off of it. That seems to keep the bunnies, etc away. Or then again, maybe it is our awesome critter-pouncing skills. Pondering…
Wose: so glad you got The Quilt and that you love it. We were not real creative, but we wrote words that we want you to read whenever you need us. Enjoy!
Wookie’s Mom, you are simply the BEST!
HOH: Glad you checked in. Take it easy under that their quilt. Hope you can get back to a solid diet so you can enjoy all those goodies Tenzing keeps providing under that there quilt.

Gooood morning, everyone! We love the Sneek Peek. Go Chet! We are trying to be patient!

Mom says love to her chosen family for pawsitive thoughts and prayers. She will be under quilt a bit longer (too many fun games and good snacks to look forward to). She’ll only check in once in a while because laughing HURTS 🙁

Whoo hoo, Rose has her special quilt:) Keeping a secret was so hard!
    Wookie & Dad: Great job!

Want to chew..water may be drink of choice, but chewing is good.

How scary. I think Chet is trying to save Bernie who is under water too. Can’t wait to read the new book, but don’t want to wish our summer away.

We were hoping our package would come today for B & N, but we are running out of time. Barb is leaving at noon, and will not be back till Sunday night.

Barb and her two daughters, and grands Baye and Lily, are heading to St.Louis for the weekend. Nephew Scott and his bride to be are having a baby shower/girl’s weekend. They are the ones having the big wedding in Texas in November. Yes they are doing it back-assward. Baby Knox is due the end of June. Barb and gang are meeting Heather for the first time at a cookout tonight. Should be fun.

Don’t worry about Barb’s absence, as she wil not be near a computer for a couple of days.

Oley, yes you have the names right. Paul R. is our personal fav, so will be interested on your take. We usually say Cherokee Purple but either way is OK. Here is what we planted, ten plants all together: Mortgage Lifter, Cherokee Purple, Paul Robeson, Black Krim, Japanese Black Trifle, Caspian Pink, Granny Cantrell’s German Red, and Yellow Pear. All heirlooms. We will do our few peppers next week.

We do have news of an unhappy nature. Little Baby Jaxxon is still not doing well. Two of his arteries from heart are blocked. They put stints, but those must be replaced frequently because he grows. And putting them in causes scar tissue so they can’t keep replacing. Now we heard he will need a heart transplant (!!!!) but isn’t even on a list yet. This news is so sad that Mom and Pop are walking around crying and heads hanging. Please keep on praying for this tiny little baby.

While I read that, I couldn’t breathe. I don’t think I have ever been under water, but it doesn’t sound fun.

Major prayers for baby Jaxxson and family, and wishes for pain free laughter for Sharon.

Mom wants to get out to the cemetery that she is photographing, but she says that would require getting dressed and going outside and… eh, maybe tomorrow, but soon it will be too hot to go out even in the early morning, so she best get her rump-lestilskin up and outta here. Later y’all.

Really bummed to hear that John Orlandini, the Rescue Ink founder that I worked with last year has been arrested for cashing checks meant for the operation. I’ll try to withhold judgment until a guilty verdict comes down, because I saw a man who worked day and night for the well being of the dogs and cats in his shelter. Hopefully I’ll get back to volunteering after I achieve full retirement again this winter.

Dawson mom has been at cemeteries for the last 3 weeks. She just finished one of the early pioneer ones today. She has photographed Calloway forwards, backwards and upside down, so if there is not a picture on a memorial it is not her fault. This is for findagrave.com, a fascinating site, lots of history, or just a chance to see the graves of relatives far away. She did some down at the coast on vacation. It gave her a reason to get up and at ’em before it got too hot. Many, many mosquitoes near the coast. Mom is tasty.

Wolfie Wigglebutt: Oh yes, I got stuck in the mud. Rebecca said I could go a little bit up the mile-long drive and stop behind the white Explorer. But I got stuck in the “little bit” part of the driveway they arrived on a 4-wheeler ready to push and shove me out. Fortunately before they arrived I was able to extract the car before. It took a lot of tries and it messed up that section of the driveway pretty well. I was also very late arriving because the weather on the drive wasn’t good and the visibility was so poor I didn’t try to pass the big trucks who were going 20 miles under the speed limit. I’ll make this trip in a couple of weeks so the weather and driveway should be better.

Here is a photo of my living room. The flash washed out some of the color: the far wall is a deep pumpkin, the wall to the right is a salmon pink ending in a deep grape in the entryway, the wall that would be behind the photographer is called “claystone”–a color hard to describe but a softer color rather than the other bold colors. A lot of my color choices are designed around the artwork on the walls. Most of the furniture in the house has been given away as the realtor wanted the house as empty as possible. A friend is picking up the dining room set when I get home from Anchorage.

Teal guest bedroom. The carpet actually goes with the wall better than it photographs. Notice the horizontal strip around the walls? I went to 3 different paint stores in Fairbanks to color match the original color so I could touch up the wall and all failed. The one that matched the color didn’t match sheen hence the 7″ horizontal stripe. This is the room that I had screwed in piano pegs every 5″ and hung my snowman ornament collection off of the pegs. I also had a permanent Christmas tree in the room with my Santa collection hanging on it (I can only get away with that in North Pole). A fun room.

    Rio,

I’m back from the doctor. Okay, here goes:

    Ingredients:
    1 cup shredded cheese
    4 eggs
    3/4 cups milk
    3 scallions
    half a cup of mushrooms
    1 small tomato diced
    half cup spinach

Mix the cheese, milk and egg in a large bowl. Saute the scallions and mushrooms in olive oil. Add cooked vegetables to the bowl and then the tomato and spinach. Mix it all up and pour into a lightly greased pan. Cook at 375 for 40-45 minutes, or until nice and brown at the top. Serve with mimosas. Enjoy!

CHobbit, Everything looks fresh and clean. Also, “decluttering” (a realtor term, not mine) makes the rooms look so much bigger. Realtors always tell you to take out a lot of your personal stuff, like pictures and nick-nacks because the buyer can picture themselves in the home more easily. I bet your home sells quickly. Love your colors and love the kitchenette in the lower level. Do you have an exterior pic?

C.Hobbit – your home is just beautiful. We can just imagine running rampant through all those lovely colors. And then we would sing to you. giggle

Melanie and Zoe were here today. They came to see the Storyteller for themselves, just to see how wonderfully he is doing. AND they brought him chocolate truffles.

The Storyteller got to show off his multiple incisions – no worries – they are all completely healed. But he has 7 – count ’em 7 scars. They are each about 6-7 inches long, vertical and angling towards each other at the bottom. We think that he should tell people that he tangled with a grizzly bear – and tell them that they should see how bad the BEAR looks.

Howlers – we will make sure that Baby Jaxson is a big part of the prayers tonight.

Also – HOH – tell your Mom that she doesn’t have to
‘splain the spleen thing – she will be in the prayers tonight too.

Molly Pop’s Mom: I once helped my friend paint an entire room with vertical stripes of the same color but different finishes–in the sunlight it looked very nice but it was a lot of taping!

In my bedroom I marbled the upper third of the walls and put a candlelight finish over it–it glows in the light at night. My downstairs bathroom has a deep brown leather effect on the walls. People either love my paint choices or they don’t at all (my realtor would like neutral colors on the walls). I think when you live in an environment where the weather keeps you indoors a lot and it is so white outside, you need color.

Basil & Sage: when my house sells, I’ll allow you to create a song for the occasion and screech sing to the high heavens.

I got to go early for lab work today. It seems like the whole town was there. Usually I am all alone. Two of my friends also had lab-work and when I went to the pharmacy to pick up some prescriptions my pharmacist has that band around his arm. Too funny.

When I was trying to wake up this morning I looked out into the garden and there was a healthy looking black and white ‘kitten’. Abbie was keeping an eye on it. When it was done eating the bird food in the garden it came directly down the path to the house and went under the north deck. Sigh. I haven’t smelled anything yet. I hope I don’t. For the last few days I have been hearing banging in the rock basement but Mr.Staff says there is nothing there. Huh. He wishes.

Prayers going out for little Jaxxon.

I finally started packing the dog coats for Snowhook. I have 8 of the number one coat, 5 grey/black and 3 red/black. I also have 5 of the number 2 coat. All of those are grey and black. They fit into a large apple box that has a girth measurement of 68″. According to Penny at the post office as long as the girth isn’t over 70 inches they can take it. I am supposed to be doing more addressing etc now. heh. Better get back to it.

Rio: we are around tonight but my Lady and the Giant are getting ready toload up the team so AJ can transport them to their summer job. Their departure is four days late after truck problems and a mechanic who has spent only 1.5 hours working on it since he’s had it on Tuesday. We think our lady’s hackles are up, but it is hard to tell with her hair getting frizzier by the moment thanks to the snow. Thanks to Mick and Jodi, the people not the puppies who came to ther rescue again and provided a vehicle to use. Load ’em on up an move ’em on out…

We would like to watch more of the game, but mom is fading fast. She is taking allergy pills because someone around here was burning tumbleweeds today. gasp
The songwriters that wrote songs about tumbleweeds must not have actually lived with them.

The Rockies can do this tonight. They are putting up a good fight.

    night all

    Dear Snowbella,
I have packed up 13 more dog coats. 8 of the ‘extreme’ and 5 of the not as extreme. All are grey and black except 3 of the extreme. I will try to get to the post office on Saturday, but it is only open for 2 hours and I am not sure which two hours it is on Saturday.

I will let you know when the box is on its way. It is a large apple box so you will not get it in your post office box. You will have to call for it. sniff. I am thinking it will cost an arm and a leg but it is for Snowhook so I will plunder on.

How many dogs will be left at home with you? I expect the Little litter will be home. Heh.

I see my post at 5:52 is still under moderation. I can not for the life of me figure out why. Unless I am not supposed to talk about lab work or prescriptions. It can’t be dog coats. Can it?
I did not mention shows or gam boling or special lists. sheesh.

Sad!…I always get a little sad when some of the guys leave for summer jobs…sniff!…But everyone has to pull their weight. (get it?)….snort!… I know it is for the best. I worry that they do not get as much attention as Rebecca gives them each day though…sniffle!

Rio, I worry about the Snowhook dogs too. But I bet they much prefer running than sitting around waiting to run. But I am always much happier when they return safe and sound.

You are right about doing more than we can for Snowhook. It does feel good even those times when I can only give my love and hugs.

Have to go to get ready for bed now. Goodnight youse all. Except you know who in Oz. Good morning LizF

Good-bye scritches were given to the dogs with summer jobs. Twenty-six and me are left behind. Sniff. I miss the dogs while they are away. They will get plenty of love and attention from the tourists, and AJ has asked a tour guide that we trust to keep a watchful eye on them for us.

Staff: Please check your SDD. I have some ideas to save major appendages at the Post Office. Wheeze! I want you and all the Plunderers to know how much we appreciate all the generosity and support shown to Snowhook whether it is by way of dog jackets, monetary support, or being among the loudest of voices in our cheering section. It is something that we have never and don’t expect, yet appreciate beyond what you will ever know. Sniff.

I’m really enjoying the design and layout of your blog. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to create your theme?
