Sneak Peek: The Beginning of A Cat Was Involved
“Chet—let’s get a move on, buddy.”
Chet? That was me, and getting a move on was my kind of thing. Plus here at K-9 school they were big fans of coming after your name was called—pretty soon after, in fact, if you wanted a treat. Which I always did. But at this particular moment, I had just lifted my leg, and once started in on something like that, there’s really no stopping till it’s over, as you probably know. I’m not referring to the brief leg lift for marking purposes, over and done with in a flash. This was the other kind, much longer lasting, and often a peaceful break in the day, where the mind can wander in a pleasant sort of—
“Chet!”
I finished up and trotted over to Officer Bobby Torres. Bobby gave me a funny look. I gave him a funny look back. His eyes, dark and watchful, narrowed a bit, and he wrote something on his clipboard. I yawned. Bobby opened the back door of his black-and-white.
“In,” he said.

My weekend got swallowed up totally by my Saturday night book launch. My old drinking buddies from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut came down for an evening that included tamales flown in from Texas (they don’t know from tamales in New York), French champagne and a cake that was based on the cover of the book. Everybody seemed to have a good time, and they all came hungry.

Barb & Maggie – yes, they are the small tamales, all individually wrapped. We also made barbeque beef with Goode’s sauce that was sent in from Houston, slow cooked with sliced ribeye steaks from Costco. I’m making myself hungry here.
Speaking of cats being involved, the space probe curiosity landed on Mars this morning and no cats were injured. Here’s my tweaked version of NASA’s photo

If I remember correctly, the time in VA when we had bats in the attic, we marked the holes during the day and then went up at night when the bats were out and plugged them up.

I have sent my sister and her daughter off to visit Dawson. Heh. She has been warned they are on their way. I am sitting around admiring my counter tops. I don’t think I have seen them for 2 years. I gave Mr.Staff a pile of his papers I had removed from the counter and he found some from 2001. Hmmmmmmm
I should check his piles more often. (My piles are more numerous and higher but I do edit them more often than every 11 years.)
I am at the point where I can do a little detail work. The basics are clean. Now I am going to wipe off the front of the cabinets in the kitchen. WhooHooo
Oh, I will be going down to get together with them all on Wednesday. Should be a great time even though I am coming back on Friday.

The pumpkin plant has enjoyed the rain. Not sure if I want to put the compost tea on it! It’s 5 feet high up a tree and has a small pumpkin on it!

I have been juicing some of my green grapes in order to make green grape and lemon jelly (some time in the future) and Alice M. Johnson and AbbietheKitty were driving me bonkers.
