Skyping Today
“You know how to do that?” says Admin.
“Giving it a whirl this morning,” Spence says. “Live Skyping with a bunch of Chet and Bernie readers at the Muskingum Library in Zanesville, Ohio.”
“Beautiful Ohio’s my second favorite state song,” Admin says.
Welcome Mico in CA; Cassie, please try uploading again.

Good morning! At the out patient center early this morning for next chemo treatment. Mom is very sleepy!!
8:31 am on April 16th, 2014
BooBear: The Quilt is a lovely place for a nap while you wait. On another note, the Thieves want to know if Truman has ever tried his paw at wheel chair races. I told him that Truman may just need them to sit still and smooch. They will play it by ear. You are in our thoughts.
8:41 am on April 16th, 2014
Sounds like fun. I wonder what they will ask Spence.
Good morning all.
8:55 am on April 16th, 2014
Good morning! We wish we could Skype with Spence.
BooBear, what # treatment is this?
Luna, did you see those eyebrows from last night’s video? Kat begged me not to tell. She is afraid Junior will cancel their date if he finds those eyebrows that were stolen from him.
It is very very cold here today. It is also windy. It snowed last night, but our ground was too wet and warm for it to stick. However, our friends 2 miles east and friends 2 miles west have snow today. The guy who was going to do our storm windows for us today had to cancel because he cannot finish up the job he is on due to the snow!
8:57 am on April 16th, 2014
Good morning, everyone! Birthdqy greetings to those I’ve missed. Gosh, Gramps in the Hospital with a surgery, too? We must be twins! I really like that guy. The wheelchair races were lots of fun and I know a couple off smoochers were here last night as I heard dome barks ans think Lucy Lou was here on my feet like at home. My procedure was to repair the inscision from last year’s surgery (it herniated and HURT. All should be fin soon. If ther are any errors, blame them on the dancing giraffes.
Have a welcoming Wednesday.
P.S. Thank you all for the support (2 and 4 leggers) Knew it was crowded int he OR for some reason.
9:15 am on April 16th, 2014
HOH Maw, I am very glad you are back home. Kat has been one busy Smoocher, blurring here and there for all of the quilt dwellers, and well as supposedly delivering hot wings to the Birthday Boy.
9:23 am on April 16th, 2014
Meashka, this is 5 of the original 6. However, the doctor has told us that he will continue with a modified form of the chemo for a while longer.
9:35 am on April 16th, 2014
BooBear, Hopefully that modified form will be easier dose to handle.
9:47 am on April 16th, 2014
Good morning all. Wonder what the #1 favorite state song might be?
Boobear, Hope Truman is tolerating these treatments well, and the next batch will be even easier.
Our unseasonably cold weather is now behind us now and hopefully spring is back to stay. 50s for the rest of the week.
Barb is going over at 4:00 to the stable where Iowa lives. She is going to watch Lily ride and then everyone is going out to dinner. Lily is 12 today and Barb is giving her 12 $5.00 brand new bills to spend on any horsey stuff she wants.
10:07 am on April 16th, 2014
Good morning everyone.
Barb is a good grandmama. She understands that bond between a girl and her horse.
HOH- very glad your mom is home and waltzing with exotic animals. And giraffes too. tee hee.
We have a snow covered yard. It was quite a shock to a certain Wrotten Kat who thought he would sneak out the door while Mama was getting our breakfast. Sage does NOT like snow, oh no he does not!
Callie goes for her Day of Beauty today, and maybe will get to go see Gramp tonight.
10:08 am on April 16th, 2014
Skyping!…Is that like skipping?…snort! …I hope Spencer sits in a higher chair this time…heh!heh!
10:11 am on April 16th, 2014
T&G, am still at Club Med and get a second evening of vacation 🙁 Going to nap now.
10:24 am on April 16th, 2014
Questions!…I wish someone would ask Spencer why Thursday is his favorite day and what his first favorite thing is before the Quilt….sniff!
10:43 am on April 16th, 2014
Mama Meash: Did I see the eyebrows?—I supervised as the Giant went from each of our light colored dogs to give them eyebrows for a bit of fun for Phillip’s television debut. Morgan even got glasses. Mick, the dog not the person was in the video.
10:52 am on April 16th, 2014
Luna!….What video is this you speak of?….snort!…I want to see it!
10:56 am on April 16th, 2014
Barb, When Mom read about Lily riding Iowa on her birthday, it reminded her that we never answered your question regarding English vs. Western. Mom always rides English. She is terrible at Western. She said it is like someone who is used to driving a stick shift having to get in an Automatic. You have less control. But on the photo we posted, she was reaching over to scratch Annie’s neck for a job well done. That is why her hands are so far apart.
11:06 am on April 16th, 2014
Skyping! Have any of youse done it?
Bear Hugs to the Hound’s Mom, Truman and Gramp.
Those Wheelchair Races sure were fun and kept the hospital staff on their toes.
Happy 12th Birthday to Lily!!! Have a Fun Day with YOUR horse Iowa.
Still No Sign of Wose?
Belle Starr and Thieves: Let’s get the Search Party organized!
Good Morning Everyone.
11:18 am on April 16th, 2014
We have Wose’s personal email right? Has anyone contacted her off the blog yet?
Howlers, Barb, Kelly and Lily rode/ride western. Kelly started out at age 8 riding English briefly when she tried jumping her pony. She switched to western and always showed western. She also did some speed shows. Lily rides western as well. Barb only did pleasure/trail riding which seems more fitting for western style.
11:26 am on April 16th, 2014
We just sent Rose a quick email to see how she is doing.
We already answered the question about Spence’s favorite professional moment. It was when he was talking to a bunch of 5th graders (I think it was 5th) who had read one of the Ingrid books as a class project. One of the 10-year old boys made a comment that the book wasn’t too bad. Spence says in some of his book signings that that comment was the highlight of his career.
11:40 am on April 16th, 2014
Rio – check out late last night posts to see the video, complete with eyebrows.
Sharon – kick back and enjoy those cabana boys bearing umbrellas drinks at ClubMed.

Let’s everyone post our state songs. Alaska’s song describes its state flag which is deep blue with the Big Dipper constellation of gold stars pointing to the North Star: The flag is very special and was designed in 1927 by a young Native boy. He describes it as thus: “”The blue field is for the Alaska Sky and the forget-me-not, an Alaskan flower. The North Star is for the future of Alaska, the most northerly in the union. The Dipper is for the Great Bear – symbolizing strength.”
Here is the state song:

Wow, my first cabana boy! Took me for a walk 🙂

CHobbit: Great state song! (and beautiful foto of the Blood Moon on yesterday’s blog)
Our state song:

Oklahoma’s state song is our favorite. Kansas’s state song is “Home on the Range” NM’s state song isn’t even worth a mention. Texas’s state song should be “The Yellow Rose of Texas” but it isn’t.
12:29 pm on April 16th, 2014
HOH: Wow! That Club Med has everything!
12:34 pm on April 16th, 2014

BooBear, You family is in our thoughts and prayers. Husky Hugs going out your way.
Sharon, Very glad you feel well enough to post today.
Macy’s Mom, It is a good thing you checked in with us last night.
Wose, We love and miss you.
12:48 pm on April 16th, 2014
Heh, heh. Meashka, Good One.
1:02 pm on April 16th, 2014
HOH: is that a window looking out at a river? If so, nice view (and the cabana boy isn’t bad either)
1:02 pm on April 16th, 2014
Haven’t a clue what our state song is in Illinois. Probably something about all our governors being in jail. (Sung to the tune of All My Exs live in Texas)!
Still haven’t heard from Rose. Getting seriously worrit.
1:04 pm on April 16th, 2014
C. Hobbit, that looks like a framed picture, not a window with a view.
1:44 pm on April 16th, 2014
B&M win! It is a framed print. The windows here look out on other hospital wings.
The TN state song is NOT “Rocky Top”. Hard to believe.
1:51 pm on April 16th, 2014
State Song!….My guess is this is our state song…snort!puffle!…No matter what John is still our favorite guy forever and ever…sniffle!

OK I am now completely lost (chemo? Gramps?) but wishing everyone n speedy recoveries. I will be at work today but will find time to listen to all state songs in case there’s a Quiz later.
CA State song is pretty ordinary but was composed by A.F. Frankenstein which factoid I find charming. Hard for anyone to beat “Home on the Range” (is “Don’t Fence Me In” taken?)
Nice looking cabana boy, though.
Computer is also beset with ads that I fear it will require a technician to remove. Gaah!
Despite the foregoing, it is a privilege to share virtual space with y’all, and I keep that at the forefront of my thoughts.
2:02 pm on April 16th, 2014
Does any of you have insight into back pain? If I had a stress fracture in my back would I know it, or might I be going along popping OTC painkillers and thinking it was a muscle spasm?
2:11 pm on April 16th, 2014
Diane!…I can tell you about a pain in my @ss, but not my back so much…grunt!
2:38 pm on April 16th, 2014
Rio! We love John too. Our very favorite is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vrEljMfXYo
Diane, Mom had a very painful lower back 2 weeks ago. She used heat on it and babied it and it got better. But T&G’s maw did tell her that it could be an infection in the kidney…just sayin’.
2:39 pm on April 16th, 2014
Damit! We just posted and it is gone, gone, gone!
2:54 pm on April 16th, 2014
I’m starting a new needlepoint called mourning doves. This will be a pillow – it measures 17″ x 14″.
3:07 pm on April 16th, 2014
MollysMaw!….That will be an item in the next Auction, correct?…snort!
3:10 pm on April 16th, 2014
Very nice, MPM.
3:15 pm on April 16th, 2014
How about for Barb’s birthday? She loves needlepoint and birds. She has had a chance to admire MPM’s work up close and it is museum quality. Does that give us first choice?
3:23 pm on April 16th, 2014
MPM: That is beautiful.
3:24 pm on April 16th, 2014
Gah! Now I’m having trouble uploading fotos. I want my Firefox back!
3:27 pm on April 16th, 2014
O’Howlers: Nana went to one of JD’s concerts back in the day. Great Fun.
MollyPop’s Mom: LOve it!
3:55 pm on April 16th, 2014
Rio and O’H–thanks for the input (and Rio, how about some heat and cold alternating for your @ss?). I caved and made an appointment with the PCP for tomorrow (O’H–Terrifying myself about fractures, but the infection things adds a new dimension, but you’re right that I should follow up just in case.)
Thanks, guys.
3:57 pm on April 16th, 2014
John!….When my friend lived up near Aspen (back in the day) she went to a fund raiser type thing out back in the mountains….snort!… Live in person on stage was John Denver. She has photo of him looking directly at her because she was standing right in front of the stage…heh!heh!…Also there that day was Jimmy Buffet….Hoooo!….A lot of fun was had that day, let me tell youse guys!…Zow!
4:00 pm on April 16th, 2014
A lot of work by other people went into the mourning doves canvas before I even took it out of the package. First the artist had to paint the canvas. The the woman at the needlepoint store had to match up the yarns to the colors on the canvas.
Now it’s my turn to stitch the canvas. It may or may not look like what the artist painted when I’m done.
4:50 pm on April 16th, 2014
This is for Zoe and those who are experiencing cold weather:

4:53 pm on April 16th, 2014
MPM – that is truly a lovely item, and your workmanship will be exquisite.
The “official” state song for this commonwealth is noting to note – all about fighting and rampant patriotism yadda yadda.
Most people here consider THIS to be the real state song:

5:03 pm on April 16th, 2014
O.K. If we are now posting the song everyone in the state thinks is or should be the official state song, well then here is our real Pennsylvania song:

Good one Howlers – but we think the scenery in ours is better. Just sayin’
We are taking Callie to see her Gramp tonight. He is having kind of a tough time with recovery. Seeing his beautiful, fluffy white dog should help.
5:25 pm on April 16th, 2014
Mollypop’s Mom, We have seen your work and it is exquisite. I hope you have lots of fun stitching this one.

The Dr. said if I can keep down a “solid” breakfast, I can go home tomorrow sometime 🙂 Miss my HOH and POP.
MPM, know the pillow will be gorgeous.

Time for American Idol now.
8:01 pm on April 16th, 2014
Sharon, do they really expect you to keep powdered eggs down? That is asking a lot!
All our best to Truman and Karen on the chemo.
So sorry to hear gramps is having difficulty. One order of dainty licks coming right up.
One word of advice to those among the living. Get your affairs in order BEFORE someone tells you to get your affairs in order. Sheesh. Anybody want to buy a knife SHOP, heh-heh.
In the early days of Rick’s illness I received a check, which I deposited without even thinking about writing down who it was from. Could you please send me an e-mail if you are not CHobbit or Siber-H. Thanks. I had now idea how overwhelming things would get so fast.
8:08 pm on April 16th, 2014
8:23 pm on April 16th, 2014
Evening all – Callie did a great job of cheering Gramp up. This afternoon, we had a bit a of crisis with him – his heart was racing and he was in really terrible pain. Couldn’t keep anything down and was running a fever. The surgeon and another doctor were in, and had a number of things implemented. Tonight, he is worlds better. He was so happy to see his dog – even if his nurse wasn’t all that thrilled.
Callie was a perfect guest. She walked through the corridors, totally ignoring all the medical equipment and people, got to Gramp’s room, cuddled up to him, and then lay down in the corner. What a good dog.
8:56 pm on April 16th, 2014
Callie is the biggest best dog ever. Of course she was a good dog.
I remember being amazed at how big and calm she was. I am so glad that Gramp is doing better. Yikes.
9:25 pm on April 16th, 2014
Callie!….Who’s a good dawg?…snort!…She sat on me once and I lived to eat all her kibble when she was not watching…heh!heh!
9:26 pm on April 16th, 2014
Smooches: I am happy to smooch Gramps. Someone needs to be with Truman—Kat, Masquers or Sam are you available for the job. Wyatt is refusing to leave ML. I think we are going to start forwarding his mail. The Thieves are saddling up to search and rescue Wose. Belle Starr is going with them to keep an eye on the sparkles and Swedish Fish she packed for her very most, special best friend. Wheeze!
9:34 pm on April 16th, 2014
I wonder if Gramps would like to meet the pup named after his dear girl?

9:39 pm on April 16th, 2014
The Amalias, the pups and the persons, are adorable!
9:57 pm on April 16th, 2014
Amalia the pups isn’t just beautiful like Amalia the person. She is also a pink bulldozer. A couple of days ago at dinner time, Kirby thought he’d try to snag Amalia’s side o’ beef. She defended her dinner’s honor and made it clear that if brother Kirby did try to take her dinner it would rank high on his list of ‘foolish decisions I’ve made in my life.’
10:01 pm on April 16th, 2014
Amalia!….Who’s a pretty girl?…snort!snort!
10:12 pm on April 16th, 2014
Luna: My how those pups have grown!
I’ve managed to get behind in the blog. I blame: 1) the nice weather; 2) a bad back: 3) a leaky basement, not necessarily in that order.
T&G: Callie is the Gentle Giant and just what the doctor ordered for Gramps.
BooBear: Hope your Mom & Dad were able to get some extra sleep after the early morning chemo appointment and that the side effects of the treatment were not too bad.
Happy Birthdays to Lily and to Philip Walters! (Thanks to CHobbit for the link.)
I have to start looking at all the state songs. I’ve only listened to the Massachusetts one with the amazing scenery.
10:19 pm on April 16th, 2014
Dawson!….Who’s a lazy girl?….snort!
10:20 pm on April 16th, 2014
That nurse is not to our liking. Anyone who has a problem with dogs is not worth beans. And oh wait, is she concerned about the dirty dog bringing in germs? Glad Grams is feeling better. He is a charmer.
10:21 pm on April 16th, 2014
Phillip!….Loved the Phillip Walters video!…snort!…Loved seeing The Giant innit too. And the eyebrows were a really nice touch there at the end….heh!heh!chorkel!
10:21 pm on April 16th, 2014
Rio: Who’s a stink pug? Heh. On a related note, did you get the beer and hot wings we left by your favorite marking tree?
10:22 pm on April 16th, 2014
Stinky not stink! Gah!
10:22 pm on April 16th, 2014
Idol!…We missed seeing Caleb (our pick to winnit ALL) sing the very first song…grump!…But we just saw him and that little Jenna blow the roof off the house in their duet….Chuffle!…Both are amazing, but Caleb will win….snort!
10:23 pm on April 16th, 2014
Thieves!..No I did not. You let me down big-time last night boyz…sniff!
10:26 pm on April 16th, 2014
We wonder if Beau got to them first? Or worse—the marauding goats! Yeep!
10:32 pm on April 16th, 2014
Night all, time to get tucked in. Barb had a good time at Lily’s b-day party and is ready for bed. Sweet dreams.
10:37 pm on April 16th, 2014
Thieves!….You are not fooling me…sniff!….You guys and Junior picked up Kat and took her to some Jazzy Club where Maskers was blowing his horn….grump!…Junior is on my grump list too…gruffle!
10:39 pm on April 16th, 2014
Beau!…He swears on his Bible that he did not confiscate any wings this morning when he was out doing his cart-wheels….grunt!
11:03 pm on April 16th, 2014
Pick!….Right now I have a tie in mind on Idol…sniff!…This has never happened before….grunt!…But that little Jena Irene just sang so amazingly and when she did a duet with Caleb it was magical…wheeze!….The two of them are definitely in the top running. I have to watch Caleb’s single tomorrow night On Demand…grunt!
11:09 pm on April 16th, 2014
I think this must be what happens when one dog goes Haw and the other goes Gee:
11:10 pm on April 16th, 2014
Rio: Nope. No jazz last night for us. We stopped to check on HoH and take her for a spin. Since we knew we were late with you birthday grub we got fresh wings for you and cold beer. After we dropped that off at your marking tree, we picked up Kat and then challenged Gramps and his giraffes to wheelchair races. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.
11:11 pm on April 16th, 2014
Oops….let’s try this again….

I think this must be what happens when one dog goes Haw and the other goes Gee:
11:14 pm on April 16th, 2014
Rio: Lazy? No, that is not true. I swear.
11:17 pm on April 16th, 2014
Here’s to Gramps settling down and staying settled. And we here know the value of a good dog-licking for the patient.
11:19 pm on April 16th, 2014
Dawson!….I don’t know who or what to believe tonight, so I am going to my warm soft bed where all my baseball toys are in all the right places. Beau is already up there burping and farting in his sleep….sniff!gasp!….Goodnight!
11:31 pm on April 16th, 2014
Nighty noodles.
11:56 pm on April 16th, 2014
Just so youse guys all know – the year that these pups are big enough and strong enough so that Amalia Pup and Melanie Pup are leading the Iditarod Team, Zoe and I have made a promise to be there.
Sounds like my sweet girl is well on her way to Lead Bitch, Bulldozer status.
12:55 am on April 17th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama & Zoe: The way those pups are growing, it won’t be long! Amalia’s not taking any carpola from Kirby or anyone else!
CHobbit: I’d hate to be in the sled when the gee and the haw goes kittywampus!
Loved all the state songs. Especially Pennsylvania’s. Heh, heh.
Hi LizF and Ruby 4 legs!

So,
I wouldn’t ordinarily do this but when I was checking our kennel email I saw one from Rose. She said something that has my clinical side and just friend of Rose side worried. Someone needs to call her right away to do a wellfare check.
Thanks,
Justin
2:40 am on April 17th, 2014
AJ: I just texted Rose and asked her if she wanted to talk. I will be up for a while and can call her (I think it is 3:30 am her time).
3:31 am on April 17th, 2014
hi all,
thanks for your concern.
i think I have mentioned on this here blog that i have been under treatment for depression for several years. I have not been sleeping well for sometime now, and that is very problematic when you are depressed. i think the last six months have just piled up on me, and meds and talk therapy are not working.
please know that i am always thinking of youse, and sending healing thoughts and prayers to those in need.
be back soon

Rose…I am so sorry that you are going through hard times. We are in your corner and have your back. Wrap yourself in the Rose quilt and feel our love. Each day is a new day.
7:57 am on April 17th, 2014
My very most, special best friend, Wose: I told my mama and that Damn Pixie that I am going to stay with you and that’s that. My sparkly, pink backpack is filled the necessities—sparkles and Swedish fish. We can watch movies under the Wose Quilt, play or even sit quietly. I wish I could snap my paws and make you feel tip-top. I love you very much, this you should know.

Very shortly this website will be famous among all blogging and site-building viewers, due to it’s fastidious articles or reviews
