Siber-H on the Iditarod
“Here’s a wonderful dispatch from Siber-H, Plunderer extraordinaire,” says Spence. “Have you noticed how skilled they all seem to be when it comes to writing?”
“And always mistake free,” says Admin. “So let’s give a shout-out to their editing skills as well.”
“Heh-heh.”
Siber-H on the Iditarod, Snowhook, AJ:
First let me say, I do not care where AJ finishes in the Race nor does anyone else. The dogs, the wilderness, and the adventure are the important thing. That is what the Iditarod means to me. It was more fun this year sharing all the excitement with the Plunderers. This year leading up to the Race was different for me than all the others. It was because all of us became involved with a team we believed in and we knew they put their dogs first. I can tell by the race AJ ran this year, the time spent resting the dogs, that the dogs were his first consideration.
Of all the Iditarods I have followed my favorite moment was watching AJ and the dogs find their way off the ice and back to Koyuk. He knew exactly what he was doing and how to do it. My guess is that when AJ struck the opposite shore of the inlet, he knew where he was and it became just a matter of backing up, turning North, and getting through the ice. It must have been very difficult and I’m sure it wasn’t AJ’s favorite moment of the race, but he did it! I wasn’t as worried about AJ’s safety as the others were because lost and stranded mushers are all a part of the Iditarod. I was concerned that the team might shut down on him. Other mushers in similar circumstances have experienced their team quitting on them and refusing to take another step. It is a testament to AJ’s bond with the dogs that his team didn’t do this.
Thank dawg for all the great fund raising ideas the blog generously participated in. They were all brilliant and very successful. Snowhook made it to the starting line in Anchorage in spite of all the hardships that would have caused other mushers to withdraw. Snowhook didn’t give up! I am proud to be a supporter of Snowhook. I am also proud to be a part of such an unselfish group of Dogs, Kats, and People.
Welcome Callie.

Well said, Siber!
(I just hope you didn’t hurt Natasha’s feelings. You didn’t mention her name once!)
8:43 am on March 18th, 2012
Good Sunday, Fellow Plunderers!
Siber, you said it so well! You speak for all of us (except for that part about not being afraid when AJ was on the sea ice…we were terrified!) you were a joy to have available to explain stuff along the way, calm our nerves, and spread your enthusiasm and excitement. Now we are going through Iditawithdrawal, although the ‘rents have been discussing auctions and the Quest all morning long. What an adventure we continue to enjoy!
Patsy and Meashka are at the top of the page! What a fabulous couple of girls!
8:45 am on March 18th, 2012
SiberH, I’m glad you didn’t tell us about the possibility that the dogs might shut down when they were out on the ice.
9:01 am on March 18th, 2012
Siber – sniff….you speak so eloquently for all of us. Thank you so much for taking us all along with your Iditarod dreams.
9:10 am on March 18th, 2012
SiberH. You said it so very well, thank you. Most importantly, a very special thanks to you for first bringing the thrill of the Iditarod to our attention and then sharing with us the special bond between Whitey-Lance and a musher named AJ Savidis which first brought the special magic of Snowhook Kennel to our blog. Our lives have been so greatly enriched by that. And a further special thanks to you and Commander Rio for the initial efforts to mobilize the Plunderers in support of Snowhook. We could have never done all that we have done without that initial encouragement. Wookie
9:19 am on March 18th, 2012
SiberH: You put everything the Plunderes felt, and are feeling so wonderfully and eloquently put. You’ve brought tears of pride to my eyes.
Thank you, Siber!
9:22 am on March 18th, 2012
Obviously, I am not one of the better writers on the blog.
(Please disregard the 2nd put in my previous ccmment) GAH!
9:29 am on March 18th, 2012
Thank you Siber H! (And thank you for answering my many questions during the race.)
Good morning all.
10:03 am on March 18th, 2012
Dear Mr.Husky. We all thank you. And also Staff has been busy putting up the last of the prayers for this Iditarod up on Dishlickers. She also added every photo that she found of snowhook and the dogs. It is hard to let go isn’t it? I guess we will just have to start focusing on next year.
I hope Justin and Rebecca don’t mind our planning. heh heh heh. After all we only have until June to come up with the entry fee.
10:03 am on March 18th, 2012
Siber-H: My friend, thank you for being there to answer all my rookie questions throughout this most exciting race. Your kool, kalming influence was appreciated by all…especially this kat.
10:30 am on March 18th, 2012
SiberH! You’re bringing tears to my eyes. Thank you for giving us Iditarod fever, for answering all our questions during the race and for stopping us from hitting the panic button or calling out the helicopters when the team was on the ice for too long.
10:34 am on March 18th, 2012
Very well done, Siber-H. Thank you.
You, too, pug ‘o my heart. Love your enthusiasm for all things Snowhook and Chet.
10:46 am on March 18th, 2012
We think Siber may have a future as a writer.
And Rio – well Rio could be the greatest motivational speaker of all time. He could sell ice to polar bears! He could sell sand to the Kalahari. He could sell salt to the Dead Sea. He could sell Brussel Sprouts to our Dad……
Well, maybe not that last one. But he is really good!
10:46 am on March 18th, 2012
I’m blushing, Thank You guys for just being you. It was such fun this year following Snowhook with all of you and then following the Iditarod with the best group of people that ever came together in siberspace.
Rio may do me in, but I’m going to let you guys in on Spence’s inside joke about the editing. Rio edited it. I am never mistake free.
10:49 am on March 18th, 2012
T&G Very well said about Rio’s ability to motivate. His creative ideas always amaze me and his ability to pull it all together.
10:52 am on March 18th, 2012
Siberspace…heh heh
10:55 am on March 18th, 2012
Dan Seavy has passed Safety, and Jan and Bob are at White Mountain? Are they a couple? Youse guys seemed to know about them, but we missed that story…
10:56 am on March 18th, 2012
Ignore that first “?”. We need an editor too.
11:22 am on March 18th, 2012
We are an amazingly wonderful pack, but we owe so much to Commander Rio for mobilizing us to action!
Hurrah for Rio!
Hurrah for Siber-H!
11:41 am on March 18th, 2012
Well put, Siber! You expressed our feelings so well. Thank you for doing that, as well as keeping all of us so well informed throughout the adventure. Kudos to you and Rio.

Husky Hugs to Siber-H & Bear Hugs to Rio:

12:27 pm on March 18th, 2012
WANTED: One time turner from HP 3. Need more time. Haven’t even been able to read and play on blog. Have to go back and work. CARPOLA!
12:38 pm on March 18th, 2012
SiberH and Rio! I should have suspected that something was amiss! There were absolutely zero errors in SiberH’s morning post. There is no way that was Siber H’s doing. Rio! Thanks for always lighting the match to get the fire going.
Rose: I never noticed your two “put”s until you pointed it out.
OleyHowlers: I read a couple articles that mentioned Bob Chlupak – he used to raise Siberians exclusively, but now has Alaskan Huskies as well. I don’t remember the article, but I came away feeling that Bob and Jan were a couple. I wonder if this is their honeymoon!
1:00 pm on March 18th, 2012
Sputter!…SiberH, you sure have a big mouth!…grunt!… Anyways, all I did was rearrange some of SiberH’s sentences. That post up there is all from his heart….snort!.. I did not add anything to it. Although, I did subtract unnecessary words or names, but I did not add to his sentiments…snorkel!
Spencer!….Have you guys noticed how Spence jumps on any chance not to write his own morning post these days?….heh!heh!…He is really going to have Iditarod withdrawal..chorkel!
1:04 pm on March 18th, 2012
I was working when AJ was lost on the ice, and wasn’t able to get on line. (Except for making mad dashes to the restroom, that is!)
It was not my favorite moment. I can’t wait to hear the story!
1:06 pm on March 18th, 2012
Projects!…Update on the madness that has taken over the dining room table…wheeze!…Two projects are mostly done. One more is well on its way, but someone is tiring out and needs to go to the grocery store and pick up lunch….snort!…Photos may or may not be forthcoming….snuffle!
1:08 pm on March 18th, 2012
I meant to say that I took my ipaw into the restroom and checked on Gypsy. Not that I would ever do such a thing on company time. Nope, not me. No siree.
1:10 pm on March 18th, 2012
Oh no! I think Bernie did it again. He’s given “start-up money” to the dude in the leprechaun hat. (Chet’s Facebook page.)
1:16 pm on March 18th, 2012
Well said SiberH! Well edited Rio!
I’m so glad SiberH typed away at his computer for today’s post because I finally fell asleep and didnt wake up for ten hours. I remember sitting down to send SQPA an email and the next thing I knew I was waking up ten hours later.
The finishers banquet starts this afternoon and then we head home tomorrow.
AJ frost bit his face and lost a lot of weight.
1:25 pm on March 18th, 2012
Greetings dear plunderers. I’m holding down the fort here in the middle of the mitten. Mom’s feeling pucky. Sore throat that feels like strep, but after some time the throat soreness goes away. She’s got a bit of a sniffy nose and some coughing. She already took one nap today, then left me all alone, alone, alone when she went away to do the grocery shopping. She’s got the NASCAR race on and is thinking about another nap. I like her thinking.
Mom “friended” Justin on facebookie and he friended her back really quick. Mom thinks he did this when he was at the banquet or signing his autograph. Talk about a multitasker. When does the giant ever sleep? Or eat? Gasp! Howl! Whoo OOooooo! Coffee? When, oh when does our beloved giant get his coffee? Must.Have.Coffee.

1:28 pm on March 18th, 2012
According to the kaiserkam Dan Seavey just into Nome. Drat! missed him coming down the street. No matter it will soon be on Insider Video.
You all should check out the kaiserkam. Great live coverage at the burled arch: http://www.kaiserracing.com/nomecam/kaiser-kam-controllable/
Still showing Jan and Bob at White Mountain checkpoint. Wonder what time they will get in tonight? We bet Bob lets Jan win the Red Lantern.
Macy: You know the story on these two. All we know is that Jan is the sister of Rick Steves, she lives here in the Seattle area, and that Bob Chlupach is her partner.
1:44 pm on March 18th, 2012
Bella: The weather must have been fierce out there on the last part of the trail from Unalakleet. How does one prepare for such extreme temperatures.
AJ: You and the team ran a great race. I hope you are finally warming up. Nome must be feeling like the tropics after those stormy days on the trail.
1:47 pm on March 18th, 2012
I can’t wait to hear about AJ’s trek through the ice either. I want a description of the ice.
Rebecca finallly got some sleep!
AJ has to spend 3 hours signing autographs today. His paw is going to get tired.
Sure are a lot of trip to the grocery store today, including my mom. Could it be that the Iditarod got in the way of ordinarly living.
2:03 pm on March 18th, 2012
AJ: Nana says thank you for being our friend.
Low on supplies…off to the market here too.
2:25 pm on March 18th, 2012
Jan Steves, racing in the Iditarod, is sending in reports via phone, email, and any other way she can communicate. Here’s the latest transcription.
I don’t know what day it is. They just run together, running around the clock. I had a fabulous run from Unalakleet to Shaktoolik. I took a six hour rest and then left Shaktoolik for Koyuk. There were high winds at about 25 mph or more. The dogs did great. It was a slow go and so very cold. The run seemed to take forever. Seeing the lights of Koyuk for hours was torturous. I just wanted to get there. I left Shaktoolik at 1:30 and arrived at 10:30 pm. Teams were lost on this leg earlier. We were so glad that we made it with no detours. To be honest, it was rather scary for me anticipating the run. However, once I got out there, I was fine. Bob’s dogs wouldn’t lead so I lead 90 percent of the run. There was no trail and it was tough going for the dogs. I had to ‘gee haw’ them from trail marker to trail marker. I have no idea what the wind chill was but I was very cold.
2:27 pm on March 18th, 2012
Masquers: Waaah… I can’t get the Kaiser cam. I have a blank screen where the video should be.
Yay! Sleep…zzz
2:30 pm on March 18th, 2012
We just discoved a great treatment for Iditawithdrawal. Go to the different mushers’ websites and read all about them and their dogs. That should fill up another week. Off to read Jan Steves’ blogs. BBL
2:30 pm on March 18th, 2012
MacyMinPin: Brrrr! That’s no honeymoon! ((shiver))
2:41 pm on March 18th, 2012
Thanks Macy. Aliy Zirkle is a musher with a good website.
There are many Iditarod videos on youtube.
3:03 pm on March 18th, 2012
Rio: Very proud of your editing work, and your ability to motivate all us Plunderers.
When do we start planning for Isitarod 2013???
3:06 pm on March 18th, 2012
Jeez, I meant IDITAROD, IDITAROD, IDITAROD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3:14 pm on March 18th, 2012
I have stopped correcting my typos. As long as youse can figure out the meaning, I figure I’m ok.
3:32 pm on March 18th, 2012
Dawson: That happened to me this morning. Try refreshing.
Wayward, Karen Ramstead’s lost GPS tracker, had his own facebookie page. lol
3:33 pm on March 18th, 2012
I’m laughing with you, Rose, not at you. Heh!
3:34 pm on March 18th, 2012
Darn it, Masquers! And I knew that from before!
3:40 pm on March 18th, 2012
Masquers: Nope, still nada. I am underwhelmed by the performance of the Nome web cam.
3:51 pm on March 18th, 2012
Dawson: That really s..ks. It is a such a great cam…right there at the finish line too. Sorry about that!
AJ & Rebecca: We take that back about Nome enjoying balmy temperatures…just watched the Dan Seavey video…he looked like a mighty cold musher. Brrrrr!!!
4:00 pm on March 18th, 2012
Wow, that Kaiser cam is something.
I have researched high and low and cannot confirm or deny that Jan and Bob are an item. He has a grown daughter and granddaughter, that is the highlight of my research so far…
We just watched a video of a possum, in a sweater…snowboarding. He even had a little lift pass around his neck. No big deal, I think it was a bunny slope.
4:54 pm on March 18th, 2012
Psyched!….SiberH!…grunt!…Quick check out the MLB channel!…snort!snort!… They are showing a Rockies Special and maybe even an exhibition game – not sure…sniff!…But its still baseball. I can feel the gears moving!….Wooooo!

Is very sad AJ has frostbite on face – such a good face.
Ve hope he vill send pawtographs to us too.
And how come no von (Sibbbbberrrrr) asks about poor Natasha’s tired feet?
5:19 pm on March 18th, 2012
Rats, Rio It has been so long since there has been a Rockies game on tv. sob, sob, sob
5:23 pm on March 18th, 2012
Natasha, After the fortune you spent at the foot spa yesterday, I should think your feet would be fine. Us Russians are tough.
5:27 pm on March 18th, 2012
Jeeze Louise, after 6 pm and I’m just reading Chet’s blog.
Siber-H (with help from Riö) beautiful said.
I hope Rebecca and AJ don’t sleep through the Musher’s Banquet. Do you think they’ll get a bottle of wine with AJ’s picture on it again?
I’m zonked out, tired, and in a bad mood.
I finally got to read a script that someone sent to YSAS. Excellent script. Have no idea why this guy sent it to him. The guy is an actor and the same age as YSAS and there is only one part for someone that age.
We blew the external speakers for the computer and had to go get another pair. This time I went with some that had a sub woofer. Besides liking the “woof” part of this, I remember OTAS had a subwoofer in his car and it was really loud. My thought was to get something with bass so we wouldn’t have to turn up the speakers and blow them out again.
No directions. As I was hooking them up YSAS called. I talked to him while finishing the last of the connections. Not a lot of sound. I turned it all the way up. I asked YSAS which way the subwoofer should be pointed. We were discussing this when I noticed that I could have connected it to the computer in a different spot. I changed it.
Snicker. The DEEP BASS OF THE MUSIC AND ALL THE REST BLASTED OUT!
Found the mute button. (Dan and Zoë’s hearts are now beating regularly again) and YSAS said, “Which ever way the subwoofer is pointed is fine.”
Snicker.
5:29 pm on March 18th, 2012
Rio – They pulled the plug on us today too. Skiing was done for the year at 4:30 today.
5:33 pm on March 18th, 2012
MollysMom!…Ski Bummer!..snort!…What a strange season youse guys have had up there…sniff!…I hope all the shops survive the bad season…wuffle!
5:50 pm on March 18th, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom: Sorry for the lousy skiing season. It’s unusually warm here also. Right now it’s 72 and the sun has been out all day.
5:53 pm on March 18th, 2012
Wayward, Karen’s transponder, has it’s very own facebook page. It is pretty funny.
It refers to sled dogs as PCT. I’m not are what that stands for.
5:55 pm on March 18th, 2012
Dang autocorrect.
*sure
6:08 pm on March 18th, 2012
Warm!…Its warm here too but things are flying around outside…snort!…Beau and I are not wanting to go out there because we could get hit with some patio furniture or small animals…grunt!…It’s so windy that my friend has not and will not take us for our walks…(((woooooo!))))
6:08 pm on March 18th, 2012
Our mountains are due for more s-n-o-w. (Mollypop’s mom says I am not suppose to say that word anymore) That is the moisture that rained out the Rockies game in Arizona.
Mollypop’s Mom, I am sorry your ski season was bad. We have had a few years where the ski area on the mountian that looms over Albuquerque could never open for lack of s-n-o-w.
6:10 pm on March 18th, 2012
It is windy here also. We are having a sand storm…flights delayed at the airport, roads closed, ect.
6:20 pm on March 18th, 2012
Darn it…now the web kam isn’t working for us either. After closing it down and coming back on, it is saying the site owner has reached his bandwidth limit.
Okay…now it’s back up.
Molly’s Mom: Sorry it has been such a lousy winter for you. It is always difficult for those that depend on the seasonal income.
6:26 pm on March 18th, 2012
Wölfe: Pretty Cute Travelers
6:48 pm on March 18th, 2012
We just got back indoors from a full day gardening, of all things. Everytime we tried to help dig, we got chased. So now there are potatoes, onions, peas, and lettuce in there.
We are starving. A full day working in this very hot and humid day, and they don’t even feed us.
Will AJ’s frostbitten face heal O.K.?
We can’t wait to hear all of the trail stories. We want to hear about every single stretch, checkpoint to checkpoint. We are hoping that AJ will relate it all to Rebecca, and she will write up a transcript. Then she could sell copies of that transcript as a fundraiser. We know we would buy one, for sure!
What’s this about a bottle of wine with AJ’s mug on it? That could go for lots too!
Reading Winterdance, he says that his N.Minnesota was doing a ton of fundraising stiff for him.
6:49 pm on March 18th, 2012
Son Josh just told us that besided global warming (man made) that there is a theory that the earth has tilted on its axis, possibly from the big earthquake in Japan. That might be changing our weather and causing all these wierd temperatures.
Also heard that they are linking the massage honey bee deaths from last few years to one of the chemicals they are using on corn seeds. Loss of honey bees will effect our entire ecosystem, so it is a big problem.
Yea, gloom and doom from Barb!
6:52 pm on March 18th, 2012
Moose have been hanging around the house all weekend eating the lower branches of trees (yes I have photos and will post them tomorrow). This morning I saw one take the Sunday paper out the the street delivery box and start eating it. All the inserts fell onto the ground. I am waiting before venturing out and seeing if I have any paper left. I don’t suppose I can call the paper to request another one and say, “the moose ate my paper.” Newspapers are made from trees so maybe paper is the equivalent of fast food for the moose.
MollyPop’s Mom: sorry about the end of the ski season for you. Let’s all hope that next season makes up for it. I am jealous of everyone putting in their gardens–we have to wait until after Memorial Day to be safe. But then again, we have 24 hours of daylight so things grow fast.
6:53 pm on March 18th, 2012
Fellow Sibers, Great idea about selling the story of AJ’s Iditarod. Great Idea!!
6:55 pm on March 18th, 2012
iPhones vs Androids: anyone have any comments? I have a Mac laptop and an iPaw, should I stick with an Apple phone or not? My phone carrier doesn’t support iPhones so I would have to change companies which is doable.
7:08 pm on March 18th, 2012
O.Howlers: When Hank DeBuin’s team came in someone called them Winterdance. Is that the name of the kennel?
Your idea of SnowBella selling copies of the Gentle Giant’s Iditarod Adventure is a very good one we think. She could sell those stories for some serious nuggets of gold!
Wolfie: Isn’t that Wayward a hoot! They even have rescue missions going out into the Sound to find him. So funny!
Too bad the Red Lantern teams will miss the Banquet. I hope they save Doggie Bags for them.
C.Harris: That’s a riot…fast food for moose!
7:18 pm on March 18th, 2012
Staff – good job on the dishlickers/Snowhook folder. Thanks.
Siber-H – if someone runs the Yukon Quest, would they run the Iditarod too? Same dogs or different dogs?
7:27 pm on March 18th, 2012
Bluecat, yes, Some mushers have run both the Quest and the Iditarod in the same year. It would be with the same team of dogs. Lance Mackey once won both the Quest and the Iditarod in the same year. Allen Moore, Aliy Zirkle’s husband, came in second in the Quest this year, (he was only a minute behind first place) and then Aliy came in second in the Iditarod with the same team of dogs.
7:36 pm on March 18th, 2012
YSAS has the Android. OTAS and FOTAS have iPhones.
YSAS now wants an iPhone.
The Android he has stopped taking messages because it said it was full. It wasn’t. He’s had to replace it once. Still is having problems with it.
OTAS and FOTAS have had no problems (knock on wood) with the iPhone
7:37 pm on March 18th, 2012
How cum some of youse are having unseasonably warm weather while we here are suffering through a cold spell? And, while some want snow and don’t have it, others have it and don’t want it. Not fair, I tell ya, not fair.
7:41 pm on March 18th, 2012
Maybe Barb’s son is right about what has gone wrong with the weather. I can’t believe the warm temperatures some of you guys have had in the East.
A sandstorm for us in the Spring is, ugh, normal.
7:45 pm on March 18th, 2012
Hi gang! Been a gret day in the Mud Room.
CHarris – that was the funniest moose story we’ve heard.
We know another one – the old minister from the church grew up in the city, and then did his internship in backwoods Maine. He was driving home one night in his VW bug. Saw a moose standing in the road and stopped. The moose stood there. Father John sat there. The moose kept standing there. Father John got impatient. Honked the VW’s horn.
The moose turned slowly, stared down VW, took one step, lowered his head, took another step….
At that point, Father John decided that he would rather not be in the VW anymore, and scrambled out….
Right before the moose charged the rude, honking bug, and destroyed it.
After the moose felt he had dismantled the upstart sufficiently, he calmly walked into the woods.
And Father John had a shredded pile of scrap metel in the middle of the road in the deepest, darkest part of the Maine woods.
He said he never honked the horn of any car ever again.
7:48 pm on March 18th, 2012
Mom somehow ended up with a droid and does not like it. She wants an iPhone, but is waiting for an iPhone 5.
8:05 pm on March 18th, 2012
Siber-H – thanks. The more I hear, the more I am amazed by the stamina of the dogs. And the people, but they’re not pulling the sleds…
8:08 pm on March 18th, 2012
AJ: Hope your other ear lobe doesn’t fall off…or was it your nose and cheeks that got frostbitten? Yikes! We have to get you some better equipment.
CHarris: The moose seem particularly unruly this year.
Oh!
T & G’s moose is really bad!
MacyMinPin: The article I read about Jan and Bob said that he was her “training partner”. On Jan’s blog, Living My Dream she mentions Bob.
I have to go look at Dishlickers and for the Wayward facebook page.
I am painting trim. ((sigh))
8:08 pm on March 18th, 2012
Snort! (that’s the sound of Riö)
SNORT! (that’s the sound of Father John’s moose)
TTFN
8:11 pm on March 18th, 2012
We have an android also. It had numerous kinks that had to be worked out before it operated properly. I don’t know if it was the fault of the brand or the phone type itself. We too are waiting for the iPhone 5.
T&G: Cute story of Father John, the VW and the moose encounter. That moose crushed it like the Bug it was. snicker.
8:18 pm on March 18th, 2012
We also are trying to figure out whether to get an iPhone or an Android when our current contract runs out, so thanks for the comments. We also need to decide on a new carrier.
Wolfie, we love Winterdance. Mom reads almost every paragraph to Pop because she is laughing so bad. We can’t imagine how anyone has the tenacity to stick with it after reading all of his trials and tribulations. And we didn’t even get to the Iditarod yet.
We are very sorry to take so much time with it, now that there is a waiting line for the book. We’ve been spending what free time we have watching the Iditarod and meanwhile, a ton of Spring chores were waiting.
8:34 pm on March 18th, 2012
Speaking of fine weather, we have had weather in the high 70’s for the last week. The weather guys say out temps are normal for June. Usually March is our snowiest month. Not this year! I suppose it is possible for the earthquake and the tsunami to have rocked this old earth back and forth a little. It does seem as if we really changed a lot this year.

Howlers, there were two parts that I could not read, but most of it made me howl!

PS thanks for the postage $!

Oley Howlers: I was laughing so hard at that book that I couldn’t talk! I think the poor guy “ran” the Iditarod on his stomach!
8:51 pm on March 18th, 2012
The Iditarod Dogs are suppose to be the best athletes in the world. Scientists are studying them to maybe help improve human athletic performance.
Winterdance is funny! Mom had a terrible time trying to read some of it to dad because she laughed so hard.

Grump!…. I was tip-tapping out a long important comment when our power went off because of the high winds….snort!…Its been 2 ½ hours or so since then….huffle!
Tennis!…Did I tell youse guys about the tennis balls she bought us?…grunt!…I am always suspicious of balls. They have always meant running and fetching and I’m just not into all of that crap…sneeze!… But these tennis balls are <>. So small that Beau and I can get our mouths and jumbled teeth around them…heh!heh!…They are really fun!fun!fun!… I want his ball and he wants my ball and it’s a constant exercise in stealing each others ball all day long…huffle!… Sometimes I end up with both of them and I guard them with my life until there is a prospect of food…sniff!…Sometimes he has both of them and he guards them till I trick him and take them from him… gruffle!…These little miniture tennis balls are a blast!…chuffle!

We are reading “Running North” now. We are not the voracious readers that some of youse are so we are “Running Behind”. A couple of spots are a little hard to read, but over all we are liking it. Is the Yukon Quest actually considered tougher than the Iditarod? Sheesh why do people DO this?
9:13 pm on March 18th, 2012
We like both of the moose stories and the tennis ball story too.
Now it is time to go read for a bit and then get ready for work tomorrow. Barb is filling in for Lisa who is off on a mini vacation with her dh.
Nite all.

Do you think B would have accepted as an excuse for a late paper that the moose at my paper? Just wondering. And mom and I were chatting about perhaps targeting Memorial Day weekend as a possible fund raising event time for Snowhook. Just wondering there too. Wookie
9:27 pm on March 18th, 2012
Memories!…. Hmmmm! Memorial Day!…snort!….That gives us the rest of March and 2 more months to come up with a plan….heh!…Or maybe we should come up with a plan right away and then have time to make, bake, beg, borrow or steal something to donate for whatever the Plan is…chuffle! …It’s hard to think and type with a little tennis ball in my mouth….huffle!

Hmmmmm….speaking of Bee and paper correction, I wonder if AJ will get his term paper completed on time. He is probably working on it now, at the banquet. Size 12 font is acceptable.

Yaawwn. Fell asleep at my post. The Red Lantern pair won’t be in for hours, if at all, tonight. Thirty-five miles to Nome.
Plenty of time to get a snack and catch some more zzzzs – Bear
9:49 pm on March 18th, 2012
Snacks!….Bear’s grocery bill must be enormous…heh!heh!…He is always looking for and eating food….sniff!
10:01 pm on March 18th, 2012

sigh…
10:02 pm on March 18th, 2012
Macy, Yes, the Yukon Quest is considered tougher than the Iditarod. Next year’s Yukon Quest will be run from Whitehorse to Fairbanks, This south to north route is considred the toughest of them all.
Macy, People do it because it is FUN…The trip through the wilderness with your dogs, the scenery, the challenge of surviving in Arctic conditions. Ok, I will admit that only a very small minority of people would think this is fun. Sled dogs know it is fun.

Am I the only one who did not know that there was a wrap-up show every night on Mushing radio? I just listened to their show and it was very interesting.
10:20 pm on March 18th, 2012
TeeGee!…We are not fighting about our balls…heh!…We are constantly determining who has more ball-power in this here house…sniff!…So far it’s Me!Me!Me!…heh!…This gives Beau something to strive for…chorkel!…He does strive!
10:20 pm on March 18th, 2012
Yark! I didn’t know about mushing radio. Yark!
Please tell me more, Macy, and I will read it in the morning.
10:21 pm on March 18th, 2012

10:31 pm on March 18th, 2012
Wha!?…I’m told that I have to shut-down now and go up to bed because tomorrow is a Busy-Day day…grump!…Not for me! I’ve nothing scheduled for tomorrow except to get all the tennis balls all the time…sniff!

It’s true. But the mushers are coming on stage and picking up car keys!
11:39 pm on March 18th, 2012
Melanie, we seem to remember that YSAS made “pithy” comments about OTAS & FOTAS’s Iphones when they purchased them. Heh, Heh!! Guess he’s converted.
