Shuteye: From The Dog Who Knew Too Much

Admin: Spence finished the revisions on book #5 yesterday. He’s pretty sleepy today. Here’s a bit of sleep from The Dog Who Knew Too Much:

For a while I just lay on the ground – mossy ground, very comfortable – and enjoyed the feeling of being the only one awake in the night, one of my favorite feelings. Then a delicious kind of fuzziness came rolling into my mind. I never fight that.

Some humans – Charlie’s amazing at this! – are totally zonked out when they’re asleep, almost impossible to wake. That’s not the way it works in the nation within the nation. I get plenty of rest, no complaints, but I’m never totally zonked out, which was why sometime later I was suddenly wide awake.

Welcome Roll-O – hope up you get all set up real soon.

Happy birthday Seth (a very special one!)

Good morning Bee and all. Wonder what Seth’s special B-Day might be. We think he is older than 18 or 21, so it must be 25 or 30. Could PA/Admin have kids that old?

Pearl is across the way. She is a cutie.

We’re working again today, but I think we’ll have to learn to say “No” by tomorrow.
Thursday I go for my TDI (Therapy Dog International) evaluation, and we should spend some time practicing.
If we don’t have to work tomorrow, there is only one thing that we absolutely have to do without fail and that is VOTE. We’ve already done it today. Please don’t you forget to vote today or tomorrow. Someone in yesterday’s blog mentioned the fact that we are coming down to the wire. Can anyone tell me for sure when is the last day to vote?

    Haven’t even looked at last night’s comments. Whew . . .
YSAS and LVDN got here around 8:30 pm. The rehab place was locked up tight by the time they got there before 8 pm. So YSAS and LVDN got up early and left early to go see Dan and then get YASA over to the train so he can make it to his call back.

As they are leaving the counter top replacement guys arrived. The house is now divided into places where the dogs can go and places where they would REALLY like to go but aren’t.

This is going to be FUN! (keeping a positive attitude) Hopefully they will finish tomorrow.

Both YSAS and LVDN are very AHDD. So we never really said anything because you can’t stop them from talking!

    More coco!!!

Melanie, What kind of counter tops are you getting? We have a granite-look laminate, with beveled edges so it looks more real. Couldn’t afford real granite, as we have a lot of counter space and a center island too.

Any guesses on Seth’s age? Our guess is 25, in people years.

    Morning everyone
Little bleary eyed here – Mama had no idea she was as exhausted as she was. She slept like a log yesterday until the roofers arrived to (finally) finish the roof where the tree went thru it on the October (!) storm.
Then the roof guys accidently knocked out the cable system to the house, so no internet. Gotta go back and see what we missed.

Getting ready for the final showdown. Its artists vs customers, and right now, artists are slightly in the lead. But we are planning on pulling ahead and winning by a mile.

In order to do that, Mama needs to get to her work table and get going! Right after she votes for AJ.

    Cute card Rio.
Dogs on Christmas cards are our very favorite.

Barb, Yes, the ex-governer’s name is Bill. You may have only seen him when he “cleaned up”. He lost weight, got a hair cut, and shaved off his scraggly beard when he was running for office.

T&G, be kind to your Mom today. She needs all the love and support you can give her.
And I don’t mean the kind of help that Riö and Beau give to their friend!

Barb and MagPie, we are having tile put in. Cheaper and for the shape of our counter tops? Necessary.

Sick! I’ve just slept for about 36 hours. Fever, chills, sore throat, dizzy, aching all over, not hungry at all. I did get up last night to vote and check the blog where I saw that the vest sold! Yippee! Luckily Staff had it all under control so I went back to bed. That’s what I’m going to do now, right after I vote.
I will be thinking of Wolfie’s mom’s mom and of YSAS. And of Tyb and a test although somewhere along the line I missed what is being tested. And of Emerils…I’m starting to feel a little hungry now.

    Hello All!
Siber, that ex-gov of yours was a hoot when he was interviewed by Tim Russert in 2007. For example, when asked if he was a Yankees fan, he said he was. Then he said he was a Bosox fan….now you know no human being could name those both as your fav team! Pick a side, Dude!

BAM! We have a recipe for Emeril’s dry rub which is very tasty. Simple and keeps a long time. 8 ingredients that most of us have in OUR cabinets.

Would love to be on that trip down south. If we had a lot of expendable cash – and if Barb had a spouse – we would get a motor home and cruise the whole Gulf coast for 2-3 months. La, Ms, Al. and Georgia. Start in Florida, end up in Texas and then head home end of March. Being a snowbird would be a dream winter!

Rio — Thanks for the card (and to Beau too); it sounds as though we will have more to look forward to in the future. Also, hope you enjoyed White Christmas last night — it’s one of our favorites too, as is another great Christmas movie called Christmas in Connecticut, starring very young Barbara Stanwyck. And of course there is always It’s A Wonderful Life, another real favorite.
Mary — Good news about your mom, it really sounds as though things are moving in the right direction.
Melanie — Paws crossed for YSAS; I’m sure he will do greaet.
SiberH — My dad is just chuckling away about the travails of Big Bill.

SiberH. Alton Brown has been on The Food Network for several years. He is part chef, part food scientist and part comedian. His main show “Good Eats” is lots of fun, because he not only teaches you how to prepare good eats, but explains a lot about the cooking process from a scientific perspective. His shows are populated with a lot of wacky characters too. The camera angles are great too, with perspectives often looking out from the back of the refrigerator. He does other stuff too, including being the commentator on Iron Chef America. I think he is only retiring from Good Eats, and not totally, so he should be around. I don’t think he ever played ball, and certainly nothing more that minor league at best (I think he would have been a natural with the Isotopes though). Wookie

Bam! Here is the report on Emeril’s. I am not into fancy food. I was sure that there would not be anything that I liked on the menu. I was right. BUT, the excellent waiter said that he could get the chef to prepare a porkchop for me. It came on a bed of the most amazing mashed potatoes EVAH! Plus the juice from the chop, and of course, since this was Emeril’s place, the chop was cooked with a big hunk of fat around it. I was in heaven! Mr. had barbeque glazed salmon with andoulie potatoes, I think. I was not really paying attention to HIS food.

Then he said that we had to have dessert. I protested (under my breath), but consented to a piece of peanut butter, chocolate pie, with drizzled caramel sauce, oreo crust and a side of whipped cream and spearmint garnish. Mr. had banana cream pie with two separate layers of bananas. I kid you not, the thing was four inches tall.

This was the original Emeril’s and has the most reasonably priced menu of the three, but it was still a once in a lifetime experience unless somebody in our family gets a job.

Oh, and last night we ate at McDonald’s from the dollar menu, lol.

Siber, I don’t cook either, but I DO know who Alton Brown is.

    Thanks Wookie and Masquers.

Macy’s Mom, The pork chop sounds a lot better to me than fancy food. That would be a pork chop to die for.

It took every bit of my self-control not to pick up the bone and gnaw the last bits off it. (And don’t tell Macy, ’cause I’m not taking that bone on the plane)

    Poor Rio,
From now on you should tell anyone wanting ‘custom’ work that you have a 2 week timeline. Heh. Or longer.
Of course “No” is always an option but maybe you have Tyb’s problem about saying No.
I watched Mom (Maggie) being unable to say no and learned it early. You would be surprised how many people think they just have to ask and I will make them a quilt (spending around 500 dollars on it). Snort.
