Shopping

“I hate shopping,” Admin says. “But I need a new suit for these weddings coming up.”

“Then you’ll have to actually enter a store or two,” says Spence. “Have you thought of colors? Fabric? Style?”

“I’m going back to bed.”

    Good Sunday Morning!

Admin, I love to shop, especially with my BFF, Belle Starr. We are the queens of on line shopping. I do like shopping in the mall too! Maybe we can help…

Kirby, sorry about your dad, happy about the Yankees!

    Maggie is up top.

Rebecca: Hope that you are home, safe and sound, in the arms of AJ and the four-leggeds!

Maybe a suit could be purchased online and then Admin. wouldn’t have to go shopping. Mom would try online shopping first. She has retail store shopping phobia.

    Good Morning Everyone!

It is funny how many of our 2-leggeds hate retail shopping. We like it, but they hardly ever take us.
Next week is the annual Pints for Pups Party at the stadium. It is a Humane Society event, and there will be lots of our kind there. Can’t wait, because we Howlers are Party Animals!

Mom used to love to shop when she wasn’t so “fluffy”. Now she just looks at things and wishes (but not hard enough to do something about it like CHobbit did.)

Gus seemed to be a little better this morning. He ate a pretty good breakfast and was more vocal than he has been lately (he used to talk all the time). He is getting a little irritated about having to take so many meds but he’ll adjust. He took his little heart pill like a real champ for all these years. Hopefully, he will stabilize for a little while but we will just have to see what happens. Thank you again for all the positive thoughts, vibes and prayers. We just know they help.

BooBear: yeah, I must admit, I now love to shop. Too bad that the store options are so few where live and also that I really don’t have places and events to wear fashionable clothing. I can’t buy online because sizes are so varied depending on brands. However, I might go to Anchorage for a day next week to see my sister (who hasn’t seen me at -85 pounds) so I might squeeze in some shopping there–either that or climb a mountain. Five more pounds to go to reach my final goal.

Sending good thoughts to Gus–give him a pat and snuggle from me. I miss my cat but don’t know if I want to commit to another one. Off to walk my dogs on the flood plain. BBL

    It has been a cool summer and heating oil was delivered last week (there goes $1,000). Usually I don’t get a summer delivery {{{sigh}}}

Zoe was going to take Rose (the dog not the human) over to the Groomer’s this morning for her first ever shaving of the fleece. Then Zoe got sick. I took her over. I stayed at her head plying her with treats and got fur, drool, fur and drool all over me.

Rose was a good girl! But it took 3 hours! I have now had a long shower and I’m going to rest because I’m going out to dinner with my sis! India House where we come. Well, we’re leaving her at 4:30.

I’m not much of a shopper — got my everyday collar and my special Iowa collar and my jacket for when it’s cold out. Good enough! Mom’s not much of a clothes shopper, either. She likes to do it in one fell swoop — a couple years ago she got summer clothes. This year she got spring clothes. She says she’s good to go for awhile. She’s not much for trying stuff on. But craft and office supply stores — watch out for the charge card!!!

  23. OleyHowlers
    3:34 pm on July 15th, 2012

It got really dark here and we could hear thunder and the sky was really scary. BUT NO RAIN! Mom drove to the village for groceries and she said the streets were soaked. That is only 1 or 1-1/2 mile away from here…to the south!

Boo, the news on Gus sounds hopeful. Mom says when she is fluffless, she does like to shop for clothing too. She hopes to get that way again. She has made lots of progress but still has a ways to go. Meantime, she goes to the attic and brings down her next clothing size. She long ago stopped getting rid of clothes that were too big or too small depending on her weight gains/losses. So she has clothes in every size. She even has those size dividers between them just like the clothing stores have! LOL.

    Shopping!
I hate it! Unless it is at estate sales, then I love it! Or used book stores…or office supply stores…or hardware stores. Hmmm. Just don’t make me try on clothes.
Today I bought some Limoges soup bowls, a food mill, a baguette bread pan, several books, 2 bean pots and much, much more. Whoo Hoo! A good shopping day.

  39. Barb & Maggie
    4:59 pm on July 15th, 2012

Hi everyone, we have been busy here. This morning Barb had to catch 4 chickens and take them to a breeder who wanted them. If you google Mille Fleur, the images that show up look exactly like 2 of them, one hen on the far left, and the rooster on the far right. They are actually called Mille Fleur d’uccle, and are one of the showiest and nicest chickens. Barb was relieved that someone wanted them who would take good care of them and who had a nice clean and safe facility for them. The Millies are Peaches mom and dad.

Three weeks ago Barb found a nest of 8 eggs that the little hen had layed out in the tall grass. She set them in our incubator for our friend in Wisconsin who has Sedar (sigh). Last night they started hatching, and so far we have 6 little bitty Millie chicks and 3 regular chicks. One is ivory like Peaches. It is fun, and is probably our last time to do a hatch. (Sob, sob.)

All this is a little bitter sweet for someone who has chickenlady as part of her email address!

And we are wondering who is getting married. He said weddings, so maybe more than one of his kids is getting hitched.

People ask me “Do you root for the Diamondbacks since you’re from Phoenix?” Since they came into being years after we left, the short answer is no. We root for both the Yankees and the Mets. We pretty much root for any team with an NY on their caps, even the Jets. Now we have to find some love in our hearts for the Nets, but really baseball is our game. Our greatest baseball moment, indeed one of the best days of our lives, was seeing David Cone’s perfect game on Yogi Berra day 1999.

Rose: We can help Admin shop for his suit. Do you think he’d prefer pink sparkles or silver sparkles? Why does my two-legged roll her eyes all the time?

Bluecat: My two-legged says thank you for the surprise. Jericho is no Jamie, but he is exciting just the same.

T&G: Congrats on the reelly big shew!

Melanie: My two-legged says now selling the idea to the model begins…

CHarris: $1000. is quite a steep heating oil bill in July but your “cool summer” sounds wonderful. It will get above 100 degrees here tomorrow and cool down overnight to 80. Swelter!

New York fans! I also got a little book called, The Subway Series thinking one of you New Yorkers would enjoy it. Anyone?

T&G: Hoorah! Your folks had a really good shew and will be well fed, happy and hopefully carrying doggie bags when they get home.

    Admin: Yes! Hawaiian pants!

Oh my I am glad youse guys are getting rain. We got some this morning also.

But Dawson, oh NO, her weather is supposed to get up to 100 tomorrow and no rain. Maggie will be very happy as she is often cold, but that usually means that Dawson can’t put on the air conditioning as much as she would like.
There is a 30% chance of rain on Tuesday. I think that means a 70% chance of no rain so I am not hopeful..

    Poor Dawson.

Turtleman came by today and said he was on strike as far as watering the plants because Staff and I complained of how he did it. I tried to blame Staff but he said I had agreed with her. He was oblivious to my begging and told me I better water the flower seedlings that Staff had planted because they were parched.

Ah, Staff, that was nice…watching those dogs run free with their two-leggeds on the beach. That’s what summer’s all about.

Dawson: Grishom is always good. You can put us on the list.

    See all of youse tomorrow.

Unending!…Work. And then there is always stuff that needs done, and repaired and watered and trimmed and taken out and swept and mopped and vaccuumed and laundered and dusted and re-stocked…ugh!…This huge place is just too much for my friend to take care of all by herself (practically)…sniff!…What she wouldn’t give to be able to talk her mother into selling it all and moving into a duplex sort of thing where they could each have their own space with a lot less work….grunt!wheeze!

Mom agrees that shopping-for-fluffies is not that much fun. She discovered this a.m. that there are 3 tops currently fit for church. One pair of pants, plus her “dressy” jeans which she wore today. Her class was to be the choir today, she had fun.

I find that even if I am a little fluffy, my collar still fits just fine.

Yea for the Royals folks on a really good shew. Chewy bones for the house!

Fluffy!…Admin isn’t fluffy and he hates shopping…grunt!…So I don’t think the hatred of shopping can be narrowed down to ones waist size…sniff!…The whole experience of trying to find what you want and need while having no luck. Then paying too much for something that isn’t quite right is what always irks my friend…snort!

    10:55 pm on July 15th, 2012

Well, they got home, and they did NOT like the surprize Gilly had left for them…all over the couch. Being the Lady that I am, I will not go into detail, but will say that it was brown, and watery and smelly, and Mama and Dad were not pleased at all – not one little bit. But thank goodness for a leather couch. Its is all cleaned up, and good as new. Welcome home folks! That will teach you to leave us behind! Especiallly when there is thunder and lightening!
(Thank goodness Dad was in a really good mood after all that chocolate stuff)

Barb – we do not envy you all the work of moving. We have done it a few times, but we are much more settled in here than we have ever been anywhere else – it would be a nightmate to move!
(And your chickens are just adorable!)

The rain has stopped now and it is hot and humid – even at 11 pm. Sounds like an AC night to us.

Bella – when selling it to the model, just remember to bat your eyes, tilt your head just so, and don’t forget the sassy walk.

Mine has my baseball toys just where I left them so I can snuggle right in after turning around 3 or 4 or 5 times…snorkel!…Beau just sort of flops into his hard cold bed. He has no finesse at all…grunt!
