Shop Talk
“How was Danvers?”
“No one threw anything.”
“Did you tell the pre-school story?”
“Nope.”
“One-review?”
“Nope.”
“Amazon?”
“Nope.”
“Kid email?”
“Nope.”
“Drowning?”
“Nope.”
“What what was wrong with you? Feverish?”
“Katherine Hall Page was on the panel. She’s heard them all before.”
“And that was enough to stop you?”
“She’s too nice to inflict all that on.”
Spence refills their glasses. “Guess what. They’re starting to talk about first-person narration down below.”
“Uh-oh.”
Tomorrow: Back to Col. Bob, or possibly tin futures. Justice Alito?

Please,
No more justice Alito. Widespread depression resulted from that last post.
Alice Johnson.

I'm laughing!
Let's talk more about first-person narration (Melanie: Your comment yesterday was excellent) until Spence gives us more about Col. Bob, Ray, Astrid, Foster and Albie.
4:46 am on May 9th, 2010
Col. Bob, Col. Bob, Col. Bob, Col. Bob ummm did I mention Col. Bob?
YES!

P.A.: Pretty sure everybody has heard all those stories twice…except us. We've only heard the pre-school story. Thanks to B.Stover.
Spence: Spill some beans, preferably NOT about tin futures or first person narratives.
4:51 am on May 9th, 2010
We still want to know what Foster has to tell Bernie while he's "not there". We bet he has Tiffany/Ethel/Astrid hidden somewhere or helped her get away from Albie.
Was it Spence or PA at the panel? If it was Spence, maybe he spilled some info about TFAT!
Rio, we don't think Chet will forget his blog family just because PA/Spence is flying high! We start his day and evidently have brought him good writing luck.
4:52 am on May 9th, 2010
Now I'm laughing about Rio's "floor buffet" last night.

BStover,
I just finished Reality Check.

Abbiethekitty Staff: I really enjoyed Reality Check. When I turned the final page it startled me; I was really expecting more. What do you think? (I don't think that that comment needs a Spoiler Alert signal.)
I'm half way though Bullet Point and I like it even better than Reality Check. (Always keeping in mind that nothing tops the Chet and Bernie books…..FIRST PERSON/DOG NARRATIVE VOICE!)

I was first in line to comment this morning . . . then the wind knocked out the electricity here. Nothing like living in the hills! We waited 30 min and now we have the generator working.
So what was I going to say . . . Oh yes! Spence's comment: “Guess what. They’re starting to talk about first-person narration down below.”
Hmmm, do I hear a lurking of some sort of name for crew here?
Anyhoo . . .
From the first time I posted that went no where. . .
If PA or Spence didn't say those stories, did he talk at all?
Who is this Katherine Hall Page and is she as nice as PA says she is?
Happy Mother's Day to those it applies to, with or without a tail!
(The Pack is giving Zoë a jar of bubbles to blow for them. The Newfs love to look at them and chase them. Not today though. Any bubble would get into the air stream and probably be considered a UFO.)
Can't remember what else I wrote. I know I had something about the 1st person narrative for B. Stover. Oh, well.
Riö, love the food buffet. If only the Pack would wait until it hits the floor.
Dan is really enjoying Reality Check. I'm enjoying Bullet Point and think that I should great restraint not reading it last night. Otherwise I would have been up until 3 am reading it.
Riö, just to brag. The artist director of the Company YSAS is doing the plays for, came up to him and said "I find you amazing, YSAS. You have (IT). I will cast you in any role I can fit you in" YSAS says he's not used to being pumped up this much.
Someday he'll get a paying role!!!!
Wolfie, hope your boy is having fun with you.
What has Justice Alito been up to now?
5:35 am on May 9th, 2010
Give it up you English teacher you, Yes I did like Reality Check a lot. I also thought it had a sudden ending. But life is like that isn't it? Something like 'that' just ends. The thing is that the emotional effects last for a long time.
Cody.
What can I say about him that won't be a spoiler. I worry about him. Can he? I hope so.

NOOOOOO not Justice Alito!!!
6:24 am on May 9th, 2010
Yea! …. He’s back! I was starting to worry just a little bit … snort! …Sounds like the panel discussion was a bust… grunt!… Too bad no one threw anything… heh!
Hmmphf!… While you guys are reading those juvenile delinquent books, I am reading hard core prison stuff in the form of ‘Lights Out’….Gruff! … The only thing it has in common with Reality Check is the fact that it was also nominated for an Edgar Award… wheeze!
Happy Mothers Day!… snort!snort!
6:39 am on May 9th, 2010
Puss N’ Boots!… “Good writing luck?”…. snort! … I don’t think his incredible writing comes down to luck… grunt! … and especially not from the likes of us… wheeze!… I only hope we entertain him a little on the days he is alone in his office trying to type… cough!… and remember what he just wrote… heh!
7:04 am on May 9th, 2010
First person canine!
7:12 am on May 9th, 2010
Melanie: What went nowhere the first time you posted it?
Abbie/staff: Melanie's comment several blogs ago regarding Cody was very good. The way PA can make an inarticulate character comprehensible. I think Cody and Clea will be okay–they make a good team, giving one another what the other lacks. SPOILER ALERT: The part about Clea's look while pulling the chain on that guy's neck scaring Cody is interesting. I probably wanted more explanation of that. (Sorry, I don't know what you meant by "Give it up you English teacher you," but I often don't understand what I do that makes people feel that way.)
Rio: At one time you said that you want us to read Last of the Dixie Heroes at the same time. When I finish Bullet Point I can start on it.
7:27 am on May 9th, 2010
Hmmmm!… It has been taking me a while to finish a book lately….snort!… The one I am on now has me very interested, so I have to finish it…. Grunt!… You could probably read one or two more books before I am ready to start Dixie Heroes… wheeze!… I will keep you informed on my progress.. gruff!
7:42 am on May 9th, 2010
Cake!… We are off to buy cake and ice cream for someone’s mum…. Snort!…It’s always a good day when cake is involved!… wheeze!
7:51 am on May 9th, 2010
There ya go, Sam…First Person Canine. Two out of the three choices for tomorrow are not good, not good at all.
8:42 am on May 9th, 2010
Rio, we thought that authors were like other creative people…superstitious about routines, etc. Spence once posted that he starts each day by having Chet post on the blog. It could be bad luck to change that. NOT that his talent in any way comes from us, but surely, he wouldn't want to take a chance at jinxing himself???
9:01 am on May 9th, 2010
Back to first-person narration (of course, I wouldn't have to think about that if I had more of Col. Bob's story to think about): In mystery novels first-person narration can be a necessary device because the narrator does not know what the genius/detective knows–Watson for Holmes, Hastings for Poirot, Archie for Wolfe. (I like the relationship between those two often more than the mystery involved.) Of course, Christie's brilliant Murder of Roger Ackroyd was a possible exception, though she was completely fair in the narration. Chet and Bernie are somehow different and not only because Chet is canine rather than human. Not sure what the difference involves except that theirs is an equal partnership–Bernie's interviewing skills and Chet's nose.
9:28 am on May 9th, 2010
Rio: I downloaded Kathrine Hall Page's Body in the Lighthouse to my Kindle. I'll read that after Bullet Point. Let me know when you want to begin Dixie.
11:28 am on May 9th, 2010
Puss N’ Boots!… That’s very interesting!…snort!… I wonder if Spencer is superstitious or just a creature of habit… wheeze!… Lets hope it’s a little of both for our sakes!… grunt!
Pink!…. My guys are sporting pink bats, wristbands and even and pink bling today in honor of their mom’s!… heh!… I love those Rockies!… snort!
11:30 am on May 9th, 2010
Stover!… You will be the first one to know!… heh!
11:44 am on May 9th, 2010
What?!… I’d also like to know what AbbieTheKat meant by “Give it up you English teacher you,”… snort!… seems an odd thing to say, but sometimes she’s in a hurry and forgets to put in words and things… grunt!
Tired!… I must be tired this afternoon….drat! … I wanted the comment above to Stover to read “You will be the ‘first person’ to know!”… hmmmm… I should go lie down for awhile… sniff! …just watch the game and keep my muddled comments to myself ….wheeze!
12:24 pm on May 9th, 2010
Wow!… Mannie (perp!) just got beamed by a 97 mile an hour fastball! … snort!… I’m feeling better already… heh!
Weird!…Has anyone seen lil Lexi lately?… sniff!… Where has that little pup gone?… grunt!…She was entertaining and annoying at the same time… heh!… I think the last time I remember hearing from her was on the day there was a tornado warning here….mmmm… I hope she is okay.
12:36 pm on May 9th, 2010
"First person" is a good one Rio. Please remind me about Lexi. She changed her name from something else, right?
12:41 pm on May 9th, 2010
Yeah!.. She was posting under Megan I think… snort!…Then one day I think I said something about it “being damned confusing”… heh!… so she changed her blog name to Lexi!….grunt!… She had a big role in the last mission trip, I would really hate to see her disappear… sigh.
1:13 pm on May 9th, 2010
Oh!…I remember she went on the Trip To Alaska!… SiberH!… You didn’t leave lil Lexi in the Arctic Circle, did you? …. snort!… poor lil thing….sigh.
1:19 pm on May 9th, 2010
I hope the Rockies can win this one for Jimenez today so he will get that seventh in a row win.
I only remember Lexi as Lexi, and Megan was her best friend that walked her. We all miss Lexi and hope she is ok. She's an entertaining pup…full of the usual puppy antics.
1:20 pm on May 9th, 2010
OMG, Rio..What if with my memory, I forgot her up there.
1:28 pm on May 9th, 2010
Oh No!… She may be living in an igloo and living off of seal meat!… snort!… I just hope the Polar Bears don’t eat her… sob!… Lexi come home! … sniff!
1:37 pm on May 9th, 2010
Well, there were so many of us in the van, and Lexi is so tiny…
1:48 pm on May 9th, 2010
PROOF!!! I have proof that I didn't leave her in the Arctic. Lexi last appeared on the blog on April 23. Maybe she is off the grid on a long vacation.
2:38 pm on May 9th, 2010
Hmmm… April 23 she made a snide remark about baseball and has not been seen since!… snort!… Very interesting. A real life mystery!
2:51 pm on May 9th, 2010
A case, perhaps, for Chet and Bernie.
3:02 pm on May 9th, 2010
Oh my aching head! What a weekend this has been. My girl turned 17 and we have been partying since Friday. Food and more food – I love that part. The last 2 years we have gone to a Niagara Falls, Canada restaurant and had the exclusive corner table that looks out on the American Falls and the Canadian Horseshoe Falls at the same time. Well, it took over an hour to get get over the bridge to Canada, darn customs hold up, and we were late for our reservation and didn't get our table. Fine with me, just bring on the food and wine! Owww.
Maybe a nap would help.
3:37 pm on May 9th, 2010
Explanation:
BStover said "Let’s talk more about first-person narration."
AbbietheKitty replied "Give it up you English teacher you"
Not that she doesn't want to discuss FPN, but she doesn't want to side track Chet and Bernie. Let's listen to the gentleman in black. If we can get him to talk, that is.
>^..^<
4:20 pm on May 9th, 2010
Wow!…Sam has a girl who turned 17?… snort!…Here I thought she was only a puppy with a puppy cut!… heh!
4:38 pm on May 9th, 2010
Huh? My girl is now 17 and I am 2 years old. Don't know about the cut – shorter than a puppy cut for darn sure.
4:43 pm on May 9th, 2010
Stranger things have happened… snort!
5:02 pm on May 9th, 2010
Hmmm!… Maybe lil Lexi is on vacation with Wookie? …. Snort!… I haven’t heard from that guy in ages!… grunt!… How come I’m not on vacation??…. snuff!… That’s what I want to know! …. crap!
5:24 pm on May 9th, 2010
Happy Mother's Day, everyone!
I may be a dog and have a short memory, but it seems to me as if a long time ago we were hearing an interesting story about some guy named Colonel Bob and some lady named Asteroid…? Aristotle? oh, wait, it's coming to me now! Astrid! And she had a son named…Joshua? John? Jared? Crap (as Rio would say) I've forgotten his name.
Or was this all a dream……
5:25 pm on May 9th, 2010
Hey, is Wookie still on vacation?
5:30 pm on May 9th, 2010
Wolfie!… It seems like a lot of guys are on vacation….snort!… It has been along time since we heard anything from Foster All in Black about Ethyl… sigh… I hope this coming week is back to normal… grunt!… I don’t deal well with Abbie Normal… cough!
5:41 pm on May 9th, 2010
Rio,
So you think Abbie is the normal one?
Hahahhdahahahha

PS: That is actually AbbieTheKat!… snort!…Alice only weighs in at 9 pounds…grunt!
6:16 pm on May 9th, 2010
I love AbbieThatKat! It's just a size problem here. I want to have her come over for a play date but what if she accidentlty sits on me? I do have an untested quilt.
I weigh 6 pounds like Princess.
6:40 pm on May 9th, 2010
Oh Boy!…. Here we go (princess again)… snort!… We all love AbbieTheKat and some of us do have a size problem… grunt!… Abbie and I could both come over and really do your quilt up good….wheeze!…That would be about 48 pounds of testing… heh!…What was the point again? …. Oh yea! Not to sit on you by mistake!… heh!
7:22 pm on May 9th, 2010
See what happens when tidbits of story are dangled and then snatched away? We forget all kinds of important informaition. Sigh. Of course I know that it is AK!!
7:26 pm on May 9th, 2010
Goodnight All!… May is flying by for some reason!….snort!.. Golly! Only about 5 months of baseball left!… sob! ..It all goes so quickly!…Spring I mean!….heh!
