Shelf Awareness on the Paperback Publication of A Fistful of Collars
“Since 2009, when Quinn introduced detective Bernie Little and his canine partner Chet in Dog on It, the duo has cracked every case–but not, as Chet reminds us, without their share of close calls. Chet–lovable, devoted, wily, brave—doesn’t talk; he’s a thinking (and hilariously unreliable) narrator, so the reader sees the big picture even if Bernie doesn’t. This time, the trouble-prone movie star they’re assigned to keep straight while he’s filming in town leads them down shady alleys, into the desert and to more than one unsolved murder.”

Unreliable? Gosh we can always rely on Chet, cant we?
Have a satisfying Saturday.
9:20 am on July 20th, 2013
A good review.
Good morning all.
9:56 am on July 20th, 2013
Good morning all. Unreliable? We wouln’t say so either. Chet just has a different slant on things, that’s all.
Barb is off to do some grocery shopping. BBL

“Unreliable narrator” is just a literary device used by authors to conceal information. You could say that Watson in the Sherlock Holmes mysteries is an unreliable narrator. You can’t have the mystery given away too soon. (Has anyone ever read Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Acroyd?)
10:38 am on July 20th, 2013
Mom said she read it during the pleistoscene. You make a good case.
10:43 am on July 20th, 2013
Good Morning!
Chet is not an unreliable narrator. He has the mind time of The Nation Within.
Pondering . . That mind time is circular and forward moving . . Hmmm. Any physicists around?
I have a picture of before all the stuff for the party goes up. Pretty yard. A lot of yard. Beyond the fence is more land. That is were the camping will take place.
I’ll catch up with everything at some point. Right now I’ll just post pictures.
This Papi, nickname Land. The party is named for him
10:44 am on July 20th, 2013
And here is the yard.

Mom and Dad are hosting two Chinese high school students for the next two weeks. Lots of frantic housecleaning happening here.
We like the review also. BBL.

Wolfie, what a fun experience! Mom used to do Japanese students. They would only give her boys because they said she liked “masculine” things. You raise 2 stepsons and an adopted son and see what it gets you (a step daughter that can beat u p any bully!).

Yawn…stretch…In pure exhaustion, Tenzing and I ended up spending the night on the couch. I had no intention of sleeping on the couch. When I woke up in the middle of the night, I looked at him, he looked at me, we both sighed and went back to sleep. My boy is hurting today, but the dancing giraffes will get off break soon.
Awesome Dawson: Please check your SDD.
Melanie: Fun! I hope you are having fun! I will respond to your SDD when my brain wakes up a little more.

This photo is from last weekend. AJ and I—mostly AJ—worked to repair Rio’s rental cabin in the woods. The Giant is very useful to have around. Not only can he lift couches single-handed, the lid on any jar of pickles doesn’t stand a chance.

And now – reporting in from Cape Cod. The sky is blue, there is a nice breeze, and a friendly crowd. Things are looking good, and that’s even before OFA arrives. So things can only get better from here.
12:42 pm on July 20th, 2013
Chet is the most entertaining narrator in modern fiction and the funniest.
Rio, I didn’t get to see the game last night because we had to turn the tv off along with the computer. ..not much rain, but bad lightening and thunder.
Macy, That roller coaster in Six Flags that mom was admiring recently killed a lady…gasp. I hope they can figure out how it happened. We feel really bad for her kids.
12:43 pm on July 20th, 2013
Amalia, Tell OFA we said hey!
Jack and Lyla are coming over if a few minutes, so may be off the ‘puter for the afternoon. They keep us hopping!
Melanie, Have fun and don’t get too much sun or too many skeeter bites.

Herbs, Mom wishes she were there and best of luck on the Cape Cod show. They should have money to buy, buy, buy.
1:29 pm on July 20th, 2013
Golinka: Here is to a full wallet and empty display cases at the end of the show! Give another ‘hey’ from us to Our Favorite Author.
2:36 pm on July 20th, 2013
Heh heh heh

2:37 pm on July 20th, 2013
Golinka!….Please give Spencer a great big sloppy pug slurp for me…snort!… Then tell him to get back to work on the next Chet N’ Bernie mystery…snuffle!
2:41 pm on July 20th, 2013
Fantastic, Herbs! They are both looking good.
2:41 pm on July 20th, 2013
Hey!….He’s there with Leonard and Golinka!….Wooooooo!….I bet he was out playing tennis all morning long instead of tip-tapping away on the next adventure…heh!

B&S: You are some lucky pusses! What a great foto.

Thank you for posting the picture Basil and Sage.
3:57 pm on July 20th, 2013
We can say for sure that we know the next Chet and Bernie adventure is underway. But that’s all we can say for sure. But Spence had to leave early. Admin told him he had to mow the lawn before company arrived this afternoon
4:55 pm on July 20th, 2013
Greetings!
Basil and Sage: Nice job with the picture and reporting!
Tenzing: I hope you are feeling better today. I’ll never forget our first meeting either. I remember trying to chase you down after a very mean person you know made you run away from the truck. I couldn’t run as fast as you, but the Giant could. I’ll never, ever forget that first trip to Alaska.
Please put me down for a passport. Check going out Monday. Thank you Turtleman and the Pretty sisters.

PASSPORT UPDATE
An executive decision has been made that all Plunderers should possess a Plunderers Passport. Passports will be in the mail as soon as the last step is finished. That is the all important step of “flattening the passports” of which I am “on the case”. The passports will be flattened using a dozen oversized cookbooks with one Bev Doolittle art book snuck into the mix for balance and a copy of “Dog On It” for historic perspective. This will take about 24 hours. Then there are envelopes and addresses to be procured and the dreaded post office to be navigated. I have many addresses and if I find I am missing one or two I will post the names here. Once I have sent them out I will post list of names to whom (smile, BStover) they have been sent and if your name is missing you can contact me.
This is not to say that donations should not be sent to Snowhook! By all means, continue to send a donation to our favorite dog sledding team but do not feel yourself either restrained to a $10. limit or by a lack of financial resources. This is a team effort and we all have our strengths. Go Snowhook!
5:25 pm on July 20th, 2013
B&S: I think OFA may have left early because the Yankees are in town……
5:27 pm on July 20th, 2013
Charlie and I are going to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. He is our favorite painter.
5:33 pm on July 20th, 2013
The Awesome One has just reminded me of another important fund for our team Snowhook. The Have Harness, Will Travel fund has not yet reached its final funding total. If you can bust open your piggy banks, I know Rio and I will both be very grateful. GO SNOWHOOK!
5:35 pm on July 20th, 2013
HRH B: I love Van Gogh’s work. I hope you and Charlie have a wonderful time!
5:41 pm on July 20th, 2013
What is the total of the Harness Fund? And if I recall correctly, is our goal $1,000? Are we getting close?
6:05 pm on July 20th, 2013
Howdy! I am very jealous of the Herbs’ mama and pop. They are at the beach, with Spencer! Woo Hoo! What could be better? Well, maybe a boatride, but that’s it.
Today, I went to a taproom that looked like a patio, amd Momma, Dad, and I each had a nice cold brew. I don’t know what kind their’s were, but mine was my all-time favorite: water.
When we came home (I told Dima and Meashka that I was at the v-e-t and had a “procedure”), some friends came and brought a freezer load of beef. They also brought more beef bones than youse have ever seen, for me me me!
6:08 pm on July 20th, 2013
Passport!….Woooooo!…I can’t wait to see my passport…snort!
Harness!…Speaking of the Have Harness Will Travel campaign…sniff!….I have an announcement to make…grunt! ….Gimmeee a few minutes.
6:10 pm on July 20th, 2013
********************** A Challenge! *********************
Matching!…. Rose and I will match any donations from here on out dollar for dollar up to $150.00….snort!….So this means if you donate 5.00 that will turn into a 10.00 donation to the Have Harness Will Travel Fund …wheeze!….No amount is too small because it will be DOUBLED!…chuffle! …. So count your small change and get on the Double-Down Band Wagon….snorkel!
******************* Let the Challenge Begin!! ****************
6:10 pm on July 20th, 2013
A passport? For us? How awesomely cool is that! We will pilfer the old paypal account, and send some bucks to Snowhook. Speaking of Snowhook, “Hey” to Tenzing and his quilt pal Beau. Kat may have to join you guys under the quilt, because the poor Pipsqueak had to go to the v-e-t and have a procedure of her own.
6:16 pm on July 20th, 2013
Goal!….Wolfie, our goal is a lofty one at $1600.00…snort!…But the amazing thing is 66% of that goal has been pledged so far….WooooOOOOOooooOOOOO!…And we are seriously close to having another Winner!….WhhhhOOOOoooOOOooOOOO!
6:16 pm on July 20th, 2013
Thank you Dawson. I’ll send a check to Snowhook on Monday.
6:29 pm on July 20th, 2013
Giant!….Look at the Giant carrying that couch all by himself…heh!…What a guy! I hope he got my little cabin in the woods all fixed up for me…sniff!
6:33 pm on July 20th, 2013
Rio, Check your SDD.
Let’s keep those donations to the Have Harness Will Travel Fund rolling in.
6:55 pm on July 20th, 2013

Rose!….Check your SDD after you cool down and check the Yankees score…heh!
7:14 pm on July 20th, 2013
Cowboys!….We are watching The Cowboys. The original movie that my friend loves and has not seen in a really long time…snort!…It is pretty good so far, I have to admit.
Stove!….She has slaved over the stove all afternoon roasting chili peppers and making a lasagna that is in the oven right now…sniff!sniff!…Tired!
7:23 pm on July 20th, 2013
FRIGGING HOT
Fun though lots of other people’s kida, and I don’t have to do a thing about screams, food or anything!
Here we are. More later . .

7:32 pm on July 20th, 2013
Melanie!….Great foto!…snort!….This is definitely a keeper…heh!heh!…You are looking good, although a tad hot!hot!hot!…sniff!…I know that feeling….wheeze!…But unlike you, I would be drinking cold beer to stay cool…chorkel!
7:41 pm on July 20th, 2013
Golinka – Great dress for Melanie! Please come here and dress me.
8:00 pm on July 20th, 2013
RIO! The Yankees win! And Mo saves another game!
Enjoy your lasagna and peppers!
Oh, and your SDD checked and responded!
8:22 pm on July 20th, 2013
Great pictures today.
OTAS & Wife (can’t remember her acronym) have a great piece of land, excellent for camping, parties, and frizbees. Melanie looks wonderfully artistic in her cool dress and super happy to be the filling in a family sandwich.
The Storyteller and OFA have great smiles that I would love to see in person along with the multi-talented Golinka’s.
Kat: You are so grown-up, having procedures and hanging out in taverns with mom and pop. You certainly deserve a soup bone or two.
Have Harness, Will Travel: Plunder on!
8:43 pm on July 20th, 2013
Wow, did we ever miss a bunch of important stuff today by being on the shakedown “cruise” of Daddy Dawg’s dream RV. Local county park has 200 RV spaces on Lake Chicamauga about 5 miles from home so he has
“The Doghouse” there and we rn back and forth getting it with what we want. Today had a family cookout. Fun!
8:47 pm on July 20th, 2013
Lasagna!…Delish! She used fresh herbs from our neighbors garden. Rosemary, Oregano and Basil…sniff!….Very aromatic. The chilis are roasted, bagged and frozen for a future batch of green chili….wooooo!…Plus, her Jalapeno plants are producing like crazy, so she is roasting and bagging them separate…sniff!…They smell very hot!hot!hot!….The tomatoes, well….not really doing all that great. They are on the vine but not growing very fast at all…wuffle!….We need Barb or Wookie’s Paw to come and tell us what she is doing wrong…grunt!
9:00 pm on July 20th, 2013
Melanie, you look like you are having so much fun! Great photo.
9:04 pm on July 20th, 2013
Quick post from the wine country in California!! Here with friends in Wolfies territory. Wish we could have met up with him but we’re here as guests of friends and following their schedule. Found a cool item for either the auction or the boutique.
We really want a passport and will get a donation sent to Snowhook as soon as we get back home. In November, we will need it when we see Macy’s and Maggie’s mom! AND we are 1 step closer to getting to the start of the big race in Alaska. Mom got the ok to take the time off from work!! WooHoo!!
9:07 pm on July 20th, 2013
Puss N’ Boots!….THAT IS FAN-TASTIC news!….WOOOOOOO!…I am so very, very jealous of you all…sniff!
9:21 pm on July 20th, 2013
Cats are very versatile!
Melanie, looking good, who’s your stylist?
9:22 pm on July 20th, 2013
Wind!…So after our supper we were all sitting out back on the patio and a huge wind storm blew up…sneeze!…So we sat there for awhile and then we had to come in because every one started sneezing…grunt!….Well that wind has finally reached downtown and the Rockies announcers are complaining about it…heh!heh!…I wonder if they can smell my breath on that wind…hmmm.
9:57 pm on July 20th, 2013
Passports and kitties and wind, oh, Rio.
9:57 pm on July 20th, 2013
Rio – your breath? Nah. Don’t think that’s what they are worried about.
Macy – the orange cat is cool. Wonder if we could do that.
Dawson – The passports sound wonderful. Would it be acceptable to cut and paste OFA’s autograph in it?
We think Mama must be done in. She must be sound asleep by now, replete with sunshine, crowds, special visitors and stuffed quahogs.
So – guess she will never know if we go stalk the Corgis.
Heh heh heh.
10:00 pm on July 20th, 2013
Be gooood pusses!
10:01 pm on July 20th, 2013
Report!…So no real report on the visit with Spencer, short as it was?…grunt!…Why oh why do the ones who get to meet him never share any information, or hardly any at all, after the fact…grump!…You all just wait, you non-reporters…grunt!
10:06 pm on July 20th, 2013
As always Golinka is my stylest!
What fun . . They are still going strong. Young children took over the face painting. That was interesting (Mother always said, if you can’t think of anything nice to say . . ) The adults took over the bubbles and the frisbees. The huge jinga got taken down for a balancing gym for 4 to 6 year olds. The tie dye table was shut down for lack of light. Over 50 items tie dyed. The horse shoe tournament is still going on using tiki tourches for light. Hooping has now started. it is very funny watching some hula hoop when you can’t see the hoop. just them.
The food? Good Dog.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie of the same.
Pulled pork
Baked zitti (?)
Lots of different fruit
Steamers
Veggie cold pasta dish
All sorts of dip I couldn’t eat. One that looked like spinach dip in a carved out round loaf of bread.
Vegtables
All sorts of chips
HOT WINGS
Somores
10:11 pm on July 20th, 2013
Melanie!….Did you have some of the Hot Wings?…wheeze!…Oh my gosh, I would have tried the Hot Wings…sniff!….Dip in carved out bread is seen a lot around these parts, not that I ever get any, but it is usually a Spinach Dip…snort!
10:11 pm on July 20th, 2013
There is so much you guys talked about today. Sofas, passports, harnesses, . . zzzz . . Whoops, I just can’t stay awake any longer. 75 people, 30 still here, about 15 camping.
I’ll be dreaming of eating oranges that meow.
10:14 pm on July 20th, 2013
Good ‘Night!…I hope Melanie has a cool soft bed to climb into and she doesn’t have to camp out on the hard ground…sniff! …I sure wish I had some of those Hot Wings…gurgle!
10:15 pm on July 20th, 2013
Riö, I had some hot wings. Delish.
I just noticed the time. I thought it was about 1 am.
Tired, nope not m . . zzzzzzzzzz
10:22 pm on July 20th, 2013
Melanie!…If I was you, I would stay up and eat all the hot wings I could…sniff!…But I am not you, so you need to go to bed now….snort!….You know how hard it is to recover if you do not get enough sleep…sniff!…So to bed my dear! To Bed!…chuffle!
10:40 pm on July 20th, 2013
Whadda weekend, so far! What can tomottow bring? Gooood night, sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite. But if they do, just grab your Sullivan and beat them till they’re black and blue. What a shoe!
10:44 pm on July 20th, 2013
Nighty night :
10:50 pm on July 20th, 2013
Stover!…I know you are in bed but this is a ‘maybe’ show you should check out…snort!…Or anyone else who has On Demand…grunt!…It is set in 1864 New York, and it is called “Coppers”…sniff!…Not sure yet if it is really good or not, but it seems different…grunt!….Plus, the first Season is free. So we started there with the very first episode….heh!
11:05 pm on July 20th, 2013
T&G: Oh yes, If I met OFA and didn’t have my passport yet I would be a cutting and a pasting. I would be cutting and pasting that meeting last year with Snowbella, Mollypop’s Mom, OleyHowler’s Mom and whoever else I met. Backdating is encouraged to the Lucky Ones who have met OFA or fellow Plunderers.
Goodnight to the US Plunderers and G’day to LizF.
11:26 pm on July 20th, 2013
Dawson, are so looooking forward to the passports. Please?
11:36 pm on July 20th, 2013
oops, eyes slamming shut. G” nite alll.
11:58 pm on July 20th, 2013
Love the picture of Leonard and Peter. I think Leonard looks much younger than previous pictures of him that I have seen. I suspect it is because he no longer has constant pain.
And Melanie I LOVE your butterfly top. So pretty. And the big hat. Heh. It needs a few flowers on it but I love the hat.
How did they make that orange cat? I understand most of it, but how did they get the tail? Was it a whole new orange? So curious.
Oh I love Dawson’s executive decision. She and I talked about how to price it so everyone could afford one and this sounds like a great idea. If you can pay more and want to pay more, fine. Great job Dawson. Have fun with your flattening duties.
Busy day here today. Fun with my quilting friend. I gave them a good look at my Say’s Phoebe. It is nesting on my house and it is new to this area. I have had birders come and look at it. It is the first reported sighting (and nesting) of one in Traill County. (And it is MINE MINE MINE.)

2:11 am on July 21st, 2013
Shucks, Karen, it would have been fun to meet you!
10:29 pm on October 18th, 2013
Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite
justification appeared to be onn the internet the
easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people consider worries that they
plainly don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon
the top and defined out the whole thing without having side-effects ,
people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more.
Thanks
