Shakespeare and Weather (More)

“Blow, blow, thou winter wind,
Thou art not so unkind
As man’s ingratitude.”

“Could he have written that if he’d been from Yuma, Arizona?” Admin says.

“Oh, no – not Yuma again?” says Spence. There’s wind in Yuma, by the way. And ingratitude, too, most likely.”

“Very different kind of wind. And Yuma winter is not what Shakespeare would have called winter.”

“Your point?”

“Simply that there may be even at this very moment a thwarted Yuma Shakespeare.”

Note: Still working on a fix for the Friends gallery. No uploading possible at this time.

Good morning, everyone! Shakespeare’s wind, huh? (No Rio, not that wind.) How about, “Blow wind and crack your cheeks! Rage! Blow!”
    Have a windy Wednesday.

Just a sweet story that hopefully may bring a smile to your face this October morning.

We received a very nice gift yesterday from the people who adopted Rascal, thanking us for some of the gifts we had given Rascal and, more importantly, for helping them find Rascal (we had given them the name of Teddy’s breeder after their precious Charlie had died earlier this year of lymphoma). The gifts for us included a ball chucker for Teddy and a very special bottle of wine, which was the same wine they had enjoyed one evening shortly before picking up Rascal. The wine in question was a Pinot Noir from Oregon, and the label on the bottle was very distinctive in that it had an outline of a golden retriever on it, with a halo over its head. Looking at the dog with the halo, they felt it was Charlie who was letting them know that they were doing the right thing. The brand name of the bottle of wine – you guessed it, it was called Rascal.

    Awwww, what a sweet story!

Barb, in answer to your question or yester-day, I am not sure why I keep going to the classes, other than dogged stubbornness.

Not being Shakespearean type Kats, we hadn’t heard that wonderful insult from King Lear. Think of all the “not worth the…” insults you have ever heard. They probably all originated with old Will’s line.

Had to return for a moment while mom isn’t watching to say thanks to Teddy’s family for a wonderful (teary) story.
Also a quick missive for Rio who says OFA never thinks of him. Here is proof pawsitive you are thought of, from Othello:
“Clown: Are these, I pray you, wind instruments?
First Musician: Ay marry they are, sir.
Clown: O, thereby hangs a tail.
First Musician: Whereby hangs a tail, sir?
Clown: Marry, sir, by many a wind instrument that I know.”

We don’t need an Update, Update!

There have been no new checkpoints started since Cherokee opened his this morning.

There has been upward movement on the already opened checkpoints but none are fully funded at this time.

Most of us who plan on sponsoring a whole checkpoint ourselves have now done so and so we settle down for the long haul. This is where all the $5. to $20 donations come in handy and later the nickels, dimes and quarters. Heh!

I will not update except when new checkpoints are sponsored or an existing checkpoint becomes fully funded. Or if I want to. Or, maybe, if y’all demand it.

We are all out of matching funds, but you never know when someone will decide to become a matcher. All they have to do is let me know, and the amount, and I will take care of letting them know when (not if) their funds are matched and they must send the money in to Snowhook.

  88. Staff
    11:29 pm on October 2nd, 2014

One thing that happens when you are a matcher is it gives you several chances at the prizes.

When someone donates an amount that is tallied on the running total. Then the matchers amount is tallied right after. Whoever’s total hits the magic number wins the prize. It might be the original donor or it might be the person who made the match! This time is wasn’t the matcher…but he/she/it had multiple chances at the prize.

FOUR MORE prizes! Rio! Just mention it and it happens. I think maybe Amalia was on the trail of more prizes anyway. So I must go and do my magic number choosing FOUR MORE times.

I will never get a chance to catch up with today’s blog at this pace!

Thank you Rio. I am glad to have your support and admiration. Alice wants to know what she would have to do to get some support…snicker.

I have magiced 4 more numbers for prize winners. We are now about ??? away from the next prize. I think the next prize will be this one. It is a butterfly pin. Wow is it beautiful. I wonder who will win it???

Remember donations are now being taken for matching funds. They are the best way to go to get a prize.

And that is all for tonight. I am sleepy and must rest up because we have to put up our quilt show tomorrow. It is not a large show. A little more than 100 quilts. At least I think that is all. Maybe more have come in as I wrestled with the Booty fund. I won’t know until tomorrow afternoon.

    Nighty booties y’all

Staff: Thank you for posting the link about Your Brother Chris. We read the article, watched the preview, and are amazed at all he accomplished in his life.
As a matter of fact…you, Dawson, A.Catty, and the Turtleman too are all part of An Amazing Family.

Well, here I am, awake once again. New sleep medication, while weaning me off of another one of the many pills I take. Plus I have a stomach ache.

Last night’s local news reported that a man who works in the meat department of the A&P (where I worked for 2 weeks), was arrested for stealing meat. He stuffed filet mignon (sp?), prime rib, and other very expensive cuts of meat in his pants. He was arrested, ad needless to say, he is no longer working at the A&P either.

Staff and Awesome, since my head has shrunk to a pointy pencil point, and I can no longer think clearly, would you SDD me regarding the booty fund and the checkpoints. I will do what I can.

I hope that Rio is sleeping well in his nice soft bed, with all his baseball toys in the right places.
