Seattle Post-Intelligencer Interview
This post is dedicated to the brave and alert Wookie.
“Should we dicuss something controversial today?” Spence says. “Global warming? The euro?”
“Global warming will fix the euro,” says Admin. “And vice versa.”
“Now that that’s out of the way, how about we link to this interview with Scott Butki?”
“But of course.”
Everyone here is sorry to hear about Dan’s sister.

Good morning, y’all! What a busy season this is! Mom hardly has time to let me on the computer. Dad has class this morning — he says it’s a waste because half of the boys are gone on trips, so he’s just showing movies in class! — and Mom’s trying to get stuff done around the house.
Speaking of dishwashers, our dishwasher broke the other day — it’s only a few years old, but of course the warranty is gone. Actually, it’s not that it won’t work, it’s working too well! We found out something was wrong because it ran all night long. The only way Dad could get it to stop was to flip the switch in the laundry room, because even if the door was open, it just kept beeping. Mom’s going to wait to call the repair guy until Dad is on vacation, so that way she doesn’t have to take off work and sit around waiting for the repair guy to come — as Melanie’s example shows, that could take forever!
Melanie: We were so sorry to hear about Dan’s sister. I hope he’s doing well. If I were there, I’d join the pack in giving him lots of comfort.

Melanie – Sorry to hear about Dan’s sister. I hope he had a restful night.

I haven’t reported any more about all of the car crashes into buildings, but they’re still happening. Now I’m sure it’s something in the drinking water. Last night there were two crashes – one of them was an SUV that crashed into a beauty salon. The guy was trying to start the SUV with a SCREWDRIVER when it started rolling.
9:48 am on December 3rd, 2011
Dan, Zoë and I thank all of you. Dan is doing okay. He and I are going down to get wreaths and search a metal scrap pile for a sort of fence. Should be fun.
I just have to wake up.
Okay, THAT WAS A GREAT REVIEW!! Kudos! Hear, Hear! Hip Hip Hurrah!
MollyPop, time to get bottled water. Starting the car with a screwdriver? Sounds like a car jacking.
KirbyT: Good luck on that dishwasher thing. Our new one is working. It is very quiet, but at night? I wandered around the house, stepping on dogs, stubbing my toes, looking for the radio that was on in another room. Turns out that the dishwasher sounds like someone being interviewed. Murmuring from two different people.
Uh, Wow! Is Spencer in there?
10:05 am on December 3rd, 2011
Greetings Kirby, and MollyPop’s Mom:
Beautiful day here in Westchester. I played Nat “King” Cole’s “The Christmas Song” on my iPod at work yesterday. The best Christmas song ever! Now the holidays have truly started.
Kirby: Hope that dishwasher gets fixed soon. I’m the dishwasher at home. I’d be happy to loan out my services!
MollyPop’sMom: There is a whole bunch of people here in Westchester who crash into stores and all kinds of other things too. What goes on????
BelleStarr: Got the disco ball and the colored lights ready! PAR-TAY!!!
Rio: Your pawtographed picture is close at hand. I’m sure the girl’s will love it! I do! Will your friend start putting pictures of you and Beau in her packages, or are you the official Curly Tail mascot?
10:14 am on December 3rd, 2011
Rose – Our drinking water comes from Lake Erie. Does yours come from Lake Ontario? Maybe there’s a connection. Or maybe the crashing drivers aren’t drinking water.
10:17 am on December 3rd, 2011
Another late reminder. I’m working again today. Some retirement!
10:17 am on December 3rd, 2011
MollyPop’s Mom:
I’ve always been told our drinking water comes from the Croton Reservoir…..

Good morning and Happy Weekend All.
Melanie, we add our condolences to Dan and your entire family. Glad he is doing well.
“The Christmas Song” is good but our very favorite is The Waitresses Christmas Rap.
Great interview of PA/SQ.
We voted for AJ.
10:54 am on December 3rd, 2011
Good morning all. I’m still laughing at Melanie’s post.
The Family Channel is showing all of the Harry Potter movies and I don’t seem to be moving out of my easy chair.
And how will global warming fix the euro and vice versa? (It’s the vice versa that I don’t really understand.)
I’ve never had a dishwasher though there is one at the Florida condo.

Tyb: Thanks for the reminders about voting for AJ. I may not get on the blog every day, but Mom has been making sure both of us vote — early and often!
Mollypop’s Mom: Around here they crash into buildings on purpose — although there doesn’t seem to be much profit in the end!

Melanie, Did Dan’s sister live close enough that you will be able to take him to the funeral? Hope all goes smoothly for you.
Read the review, and it was very good. Can’t wait for Robbie to come out next month. Maybe we will finally get over missing Ingrid.
We are off to run Sat. morning errands, plus a trip to the post office to send off some Christmas cards. BBL

OHs: Yes, LOVE that one!!! Glad you mentioned it, so now I can put it on my iPOD!!
I’m forever indebted….Thanks! XOXOXO

Rose, Mom and Pop says the Christmas season can’t officially begin until they listen to that one together.
What? You forgot cranberries too?
We are twirling twirling twirling!!!! Especially Kat! The mailman just drove in with The Iditarod Dreamcatcher!!!!! Its beautiful! And there is even a redhead with a green eye. Amalia, we know you are at a show but we just can’t wait to tell you how beautiful this is. Mom wanted to buy one of your items at the MMCS but we made her wait, because we knew you were creating something Husky-centric and we knew it would be oh-so-special. We were not disappointed. Its wonderful, and just the thing to help our Pipsqueak dream of becoming a sleddog.

One of the radio stations here has been playing only Christmas music since Thanksgiving. Mom says it’s helping her get her housework done!
12:11 pm on December 3rd, 2011
KirbyT: Glad your mom is able to get some housework done. For a while there I thought she was just at the Library and writing the Pageant!
The link you put up reminds me of an article. A would be thief tried to steal an ATM machine out of a building by hooking it up to the back of a pick up with a huge chain.
The bumper got pulled off in the attempt with the license attached. . . Pondering here . .
Barb and MagPie: Dan’s sister was in OH. Too far for us. He is writing a remembrance to be read at the memorial service.
12:14 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Today’s post is dedicated to Wookie!!! WOO WOO
I enjoyed reading the interview.
I voted first thing and thanks TYB
My two favorite Christmas songs are “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer” and “Jingle Dogs”
12:22 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Staff, Thanks for the Husky puppy video. We just watched it.
We got one inch of snow…big hairy deal. Another storm is on its way. Sure, and I have some ocean front property in Arizona I wanna sell the weathermen.
12:42 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Personally, we like John Denver and the Muppets ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’. We will have to listen to the waitress rap; never heard of it before.
12:53 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Happy Saturday!
Melanie: It is good to hear Dan is doing well. We are thinking of him.
Tyb: Thank you. It’s getting to be a habit. For once we remembered!
Whew! Glad that was a good interview – being the Seattle paper and all.
Bella: How are things up North? Hearing news about the blizzard. I hope you are all safe and warm.
1:09 pm on December 3rd, 2011
One of our favorites is Vince Gill’s Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Another we like that is sort of whimsical is Santa Baby.
If we had to lose out on the Husky Dreamcatcher we wanted it to be to Oley or Siber.
Rose, We saw something about the dog shooting the hunter in the butt on the NBC News last night. He wasn’t seriously hurt, just got a bottom full of buck shot. We say good for the dog! And also good for the lucky ducks that got to live for another day.
1:11 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Dumped!….We got dumped on last night and this morning…grunt!… All of us are pretty damned sick of snow already…snort!….White Christmas – Bah Humbug!…grunt!
Project!… Once she has a new Sunflower design done, she said I can post a photo of it, maybe…sniff!…Depends how the photo comes out cause it is tricky trying to capture this paper stuff just right…sniff!…Whatever!

Hi Everyone!
I arrived late last night. The first plane, then one I got up at 4 o clock in the morning to catch, loaded all us passengers right on time and then sat on the tarmac for an hour and a half to fix some mechanical something. Consequently I missed my connection flight. That wasn’t so bad except my luggage (with quilt) made the flight (marauding goats were involved) so I was worried sick until I finally arrived in Missoula and there was my luggage. Thank dog!
Today we are having Thanksgiving…my 3rd one this year.
Kirby T.Penworthy: I will get to see your book today. A Catty Librarian is looking forward to seeing it also.
I will catch up on the blog a little later.
1:12 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Dawson!….Did The Fan survive the flight?…snort!…Someone here is anxious to know…
1:13 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Siber, Have you seen the commercial on tv where the guy starts singing and dancing to Grandma Got Run Over, then all the family is telling him to stop? Maybe not, since you and your mom don’t watch much tv. Anyway, the Grandma reminds Barb of her own mom who has passed. Cute commercial.
1:18 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Mollypop’s Mom: I think you are right about the beverage of choice not being water. lol. What’s this? Do I see white in your forecast? Next week is looking up.
Jasper: Lots of commotion in the Mitten. True, it is better to find out before the wedding, but poor fiancee.
Howlers: What a prize! The Dream Catcher was made for you.
Siber: Seems unfair, doesn’t it, that Rio is getting all YOUR snow.
And, Bella, your temps are relatively warm now – just right to thaw out a frozen pugsicle.
Hi, B! Sounds like a lovely way to spend your day.
1:19 pm on December 3rd, 2011
I no longer have 11-22-63 on audio. It was 32 hours long which I thought was too much to listen to, and Tyb’s Dad had emailed me that he bought the book and I could borrow it. Audible canceled that purchase and let me pick another.
I bought The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton and I’m loving it. This is also long, 21 hours, but I’m finding that I have more listening opportunities than just car rides. Yesterday I had it with me on my walk and when I came back, I kept listening while I did needlepoint. This is going to work out very well because I do a lot of needlepoint and now I can ‘read’ while I stitch. Who knew?
1:19 pm on December 3rd, 2011
I didn’t see an answer to my dumb question about the ARC. Maybe we only read every other word and missed it. Is an ARC a final corrected copy, with just a different cover, or does it still have typos and mistakes in it? I would think it is the former, but we have never had one before, so not sure.
1:36 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Is Hagrid’s dog, Fang, in Chamber of Secrets a Newf?
1:44 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Mollypop’s Mom: I read The Forgotten Garden and loved it. I have Morton’s The House at Riverton but haven’t gotten to it yet.
1:52 pm on December 3rd, 2011
“Snowflakes that melt on my nose and eyelashes. Silver white winters that melt into Spring” Favorite Things is one of my favorite songs of the season. Along with I’ll Be Home For Christmas (sob, sob) And, of course, Nat King Cole singing of chestnuts roasting over an open fire. This is the weekend to decorate the house and get out the Christmas cards.
Yikes! Barb&Magpie, you are way ahead of us – already MAILING your cards.
2:12 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Bear, We have only half of our cards done and mailed.
Molly’s mom, Got your package a few minutes ago. No chomps by MGs. Thank you. BTW, we love 11-22, although we told Rio we wouldn’t discuss it again. We agree, was too long for audio. Barb is going to crash on the sofa and read a little of you-know-what.
Get this – Barb’s boss, CL2, just told Barb she is not going to have any kind of a going away party for Lynette, who is retiring 12/30. Lyn is an agent who had done floor time 3 days a week for 14 years. She has 2 other agents that work 1 day a week. Wow, guess that shows you are important we are to her. Just another warm body!
3:15 pm on December 3rd, 2011
ARC! Barb your question about it has now been answered!
3:48 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Break!….Someone is taking a break from the little gift cards …anort!…She tried to get some close-up photos but it was not working out…heh!…So here is a shot of the whole table and all the stuff she is working on today. What a mess!..chuffle!
3:53 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Beau!….Here is a photo of Beau and his Bone…snort!…He doesn’t know he is supposed to run and hide when the camera comes out…heh!
4:07 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Bear: Where is Barb’s question about the ARC answered?
Rio: I haven’t been able to take a picture of your friend’s cards that do them justice. It will take a bright, sunny day outside and then I’ll try again.
4:11 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Rio: When we enlarged the photo, the Little Gift Cards are displayed quite nicely. How beautiful they are! I’ll bet your friend never imagined she would be working day and night to get all the orders filled. And, to think she was worried!
Nice pic of Beau with bone.
4:19 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Rio, the cards look lovely. And Kat says she met a guy that looked a lot like Beau when she was at the v-e-t today. They even played together. Kat was just there to ger weighed…29 pounds!
4:24 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Stover!….She says it is quite tricky to take a good shot of twirled paper…heh!
Maskers!… I think one of each of those little cards are yours!…snort!…Just remember, they are not finished yet…sniff!…She has a lot of work to do on them. Oh look here, her break is almost over…grunt!
4:24 pm on December 3rd, 2011
B.Stover: Hagrid’s dog is said to be a “Boar Hound”. Could be many things but most consider it a sort of Mastiff.
Took Dan down the hill. We now have 3 wreaths for the three doors in the front, and boughs for the inside of the house.
We also have, off a scrap metal heap, an 8 foot long iron balcony railing. This will go on top of a stone wall in the play yard. Right now there is chicken wire at the top. The wall has pushed out just enough that the dogs can scramble up and escape. Grace and Katie had a GREAT time.
Note to self: you need two people to move a large iron railing. . .
4:26 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Riö, your friend just gets better and better at this.
Time to watch a Due South!
4:27 pm on December 3rd, 2011
B: Barb’s question about the ARC wasn’t answered here on the blog, but that wasn’t necessary. She received the real deal in the mail today!
Barb&Magpie: Having half of your cards completed is 100% more than Nana has written or mailed out. She has been thinking about it though. It is always a challenge to locate those little boxes when the time comes. Actually, she knows where they are…for once.
Dawson: Happy to hear all is well with the Quilt as it cleverly evades those MGs on the journey home. Enjoy your 3rd Thanksgiving dinner with family. (Hello to A Catty Librarian and Elliott)
4:28 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Hello, Plunderers!
It has been quite a week. I’ve only had a chance to catch up on the blog here and there throughout the week.
Rio: Your friend’s cards are beautiful. It looks like there are some new designs we haven’t seen pictured before. Beau has so much to learn…
I’m wishing Stinky Mama a successful show.
I love Christmas music. Since Thanksgiving I’ve found a station that plays all Christmas music. On my commute I’ve been singing along with the likes of Nat and Bing. All the talk over the past couple of days about favorite Christmas songs has inspired me to share the link below. It gives you a taste of a village in remote Alaska and no matter how many times I watch it, I can’t help but smile. Enjoy:

Hi, Barb. I don’t know what other ARCs look like. The one that will be delivered to you by UPS on Monday is a paperback with no typos or mistakes. There are a couple of disclaimers on the inside of the cover – that the author can makes changes and if you’re thinking about quoting for a review, you’d better not. Not exactly the wording, but close. 🙂
Melanie, please give Dan and Zoe and yourself our sympathy. Holding each of you close…love that the newfs wanted to help.
4:57 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Rebecca, wonderful video, and now we are smiling too.
5:06 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Thank you Bluecat. It’s interesting that reviewers are told not to quote from an ARC.
5:06 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Thank you Bluecat for answering that question. Barb is lLooking forward to getting it and holding it in her hands.
Bear, It was White Wings that came in the mail today. Now we have a dilemma. Barb has Rin Tin Tin half done and isn’t sure she is going to finish it. She is 100 pages into 11-22-63 (oops, there we go again), now White Wings has arrived, and the ARC will be here on Monday. Oh my, what to do? Is anyone super anxious for their book to come? Are we under any deadlines?
Jasper, we meant to say that we too feel sorry for the finance. Maybe she shouldn’t have put everyone thru all that drama, but we still feel bad for her. And if your boy has lost interest due to a young married gal, who maybe doesn’t mind a little fiddle-faddle, well……perhaps not a wise choice. Sometimes virle young men have very short term goals.
5:14 pm on December 3rd, 2011
well we are finally getting snow here. We have had an unnaturally warm fall. Usually we can store food on the porch after Thanksgiving but not this year. However finally it has turned colder and we are expecting up to 4 inches of snow! Yippee!

Barb, I haven’t seen that commercial on tv with “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer” in it, but we listened to that song and others on youtube this afternoon.
Another great Christmas song is Snoopy and the Red Baron. We found that one by watching videos of the real Red Baron.
We have had a productive afternoon.
5:24 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Masquers, Don’t get me started on the unfairness of the snow situation. Rio hates snow and he gets lots of snow. I love snow and get none. I generously offered to trade places with Rio last winter and he turned me down.
We are going to watch Rebecca’s video now.
5:40 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Barb: Oops! I thought it was the ARC. You’ll love, love love White Wings! It’s always a dilemma when we have more than one good book to read at a time and made even more difficult by the ones we would like to savor and enjoy.
5:48 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Mom has been cooking like crazy today. (Pssst: I think it’s therapy because of the drama with her son.) She put a beef and barley soup in the crockpot at the crockpot of dawn this morning (heh!). She made a cheesecake. She’s just pulled some blackberry, yogurt and pecan muffins from the oven. And…get this…she’s thinking of baking something else. She also took a long nap. I joined her. Bee, we are also watching HP.
5:54 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Staff: Brrr! And we think 40 is cold! Nana’s brother lives near there. They have a house in town and recently bought a farm…a fixer-upper that needs A LOT of work.
SnowBella: We watched the video. You are right – it made us smile.
I forgot to ask. How long will the calendars be available? We plan to place our order in the next couple of weeks.
5:58 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Rio, You mentioned watching Psych yesterday. Channel CLOO has a Psych marathon going on right now, so we are turning it on at 5:00. Love that show.
Jasper, Those muffins sound heavenly!
Beau with his bone is very cute. Gotta admit that he is photogentic!
6:17 pm on December 3rd, 2011
And Beau stands there and poses so nicely, unlike you-know-who.
6:21 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Jasper: I love cheesecake! Hope things calm down there.
Sam’s picture is on the screen. She is so cute!
6:33 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Rio: Your friend’s cards are so very pretty. Enlarging the picture helps. Lucky person getting those cards with a new design. Beau photographs very well.
At the Verizon store today, the Prof and I saw a very cute bulldog puppy. He played with me and the Prof, and had a very silky, puppy coat. His name was Churchill.
6:42 pm on December 3rd, 2011
We just enlarged the card picture too. They are beautiful, Rio.
So much work. Your friend must have tons of patience, dealing with two Pugs plus doing all that detail work.
6:54 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Yes, Jasper, We do get our gray hair from our children.
B.Stover, it occurred to me that I didn’t answer the question you asked. Or I’m reading it incorrectly now. 🙂
Fang in the HP movies is a Neapolitan Mastiff.
6:55 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Books!… Barb, don’t rush reading White Wings on account of us…snort!…We have plenty to do this Christmas season to eat up every spare moment…sniff!….Well, at least she does, I have some spare time, but it is very limited…chuffle!… How am I going to get all my shopping done this year….hhmmm?…I wish Beau knew how to drive…grunt!

(Oh, and Macy? He’s visiting Ophelia from “Hamlet”).

7:27 pm on December 3rd, 2011
If YSAS comes by here there is a pot of ham and beans available. That picture does not do justice to a good plate of Texas BBQ.
7:30 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Ham!…. YEEP! YEEP!…snort!… Ham and Bean!…YEEEP! YEEP!… omg we have not had ham and beans in years and years and years….YEEEPPPP!…I’m so hungry I could just die….sob!

YSAS and Macy could maybe box some of that Texas food up and send it to us. YEEP!

Macy, Barb LOVES ham and beans. She grew up on “Down Home” cooking. Her sister, who is a snob, grew up in the same house and won’t eat it. Barb’s mom used to make it with the ham hock and navy beans, then served over homemade corn bread. Yummers! She says now she is going to have to make some.
7:47 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Weird Macy, I just keep getting my own FB page.
Now, i remember VA ham and beans (molasses in it). What makes Texas H&B?
Will read the answer tomorrow! Done too much today.

7:50 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Speaking of “Down Home” cooking, Barb’s mom also used to make the vorld’s best fried chicken with milk pan gravy, and biscuits and sausage gravy. She was Missouri country, so not quite southern enough to do a good Texas bar-b-que.
We need to go eat some dinner!
8:03 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Definitely time for supper!
Then watching Burn Notice
See youse tomorrow – Bear
8:23 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Huh, Maybe we are all synchronized or something. I just made bean and and vegetable soup (with some leftover sausage and rice dressing added in).
It was very good.
I used the low salt beans and tomato sauce and diced tomatoes.

ahhh, that second and was supposed to be ‘ham’….

Staff!….What’s Alice and AbbieTheKat been up to lately?….snort!…Do they miss Dawson and her Quilt…heh!
Quilt!…I bet Wookie was itching to get on that great big purple Quilt himself….sniff!… Hope he got a Hero’s breakfast, lunch and supper today!….Woooo!…He even has a Post of the Day dedicated to him…snort!….Has he posted today? Maybe he doesn’t even know it yet!…grunt!
8:33 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Along the lines of beans, I just finished off a bowl of chili. Yum!
It has been snowing all day and I’m waiting for AJ to return home from a training run. While I waited, I watched Mick and Jodi (the pups formally known as Thing 1 and Thing 2) get the better of Pancho. Jodi insisted on getting in Pancho’s house while he stood outside. He thought otherwise. I watched as he pulled her out by the tail over and over. With his nose down and back end up Pancho played with the pups after each drag from his house.
Rio: Please check your SDD.
8:42 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Macy and Staff, Here is how we do our beans and ham. It is not soup, but it could be if you added more water. Soak dried white beans, navy or great northern, in water to cover-several hours or overnight. Pour off water and start with fresh. Use enough water to cover beans, add the ham hock, chopped onion and carrots, salt and pepper. Cook in slow oven or simmer stove-top for several hours, til meat falls off the bone and beans are soft. Spoon over cornbread and add fresh chopped onion on top if desired. You can also serve the cornbread on the side.
8:52 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Abbie and Alice have been goofing off. This afternoon Alice got on Maggie’s walker and insisted on traveling around with her. They went to the bathroom and then they came back and went to the room Dad keeps his computer in. Then they came back and Mom told Alice “That’s all Kat”. After Alice sat on the walker seat a little longer she got the idea and left for a nap upstairs by the radiator.
Yes they miss Dawson’s quilt. While it was sitting folded up into a large puffy square and waiting for me to finish the binding they would sleep on top of it. It was quite thick and puffy and they loved it. Alice always slept on top but AbbietheKitty would burrow into the middle of it. I am sure that Dawson’t kats will take one sniff and have conniptions over the foreign kat smell.
Barb and Maggie, I used to do my bean and tomato soup with a smoked ham hock from the local butcher in the small town near me in North Dakota. It was just yummy. None of the locals used ham hocks as far as I could tell and when they got their pigs butchered I could get some. Sadly the ham hocks in the city don’t measure up. Tiny spindly little things with no flavor. Oh well, too much salt in them for me now anyway. Ahhh memories.

Kats!…. Nice, finally a Kat update on those two notorious Quilt Testers…heh!… Speaking of Quilt Testers, I am getting a tad worried about Wookie and the fact that he has not acknowledged his Dedication Post…sniff!… He is usually a very gracious 007 Agent…wuffle!
Potted!…We are now watching another Harry Potted movie from the beginning…sniff!…Now sure if we have seen this one before or not. Order of the Phoenix or sumthing like that…grunt! …One day when we have tons of free time we will read the books…right!…snort!

Alice!…I don’t know if it was a dream or what, but I think I have seen Alice riding around on Maggies walker before…chorkel!

AJ and the team are finally home! While our temperatures are quite warm, it has not stopped snowing all day. Mick and Jodi helped me carry in three loads of firewood and by helping I mean they were successfully underfoot each step of the way.
Maybe Wookie is busy posing today for the statue that is being sculpted in his honor for his heroic spirit.

Rebeccer!….heh!snort!heh!….Good one. A Wookie Statue!…snort!….That is definitely in order by all means!…snuffle!
Project!….Oh, ahem, I am supposed to make an announcement…grunt!…My friend wants to thank anyone who said nice things about her little gift card mess on the table…heh!…This is the final batch for the 6 sets she has been working so hard on…sniff!… The plan is to totally finish them on Sunday and mail them out ASAP, but real life sometimes gets in the way. Monday is the mailing out goal, but it is not set in stone….chuffle!…All youse receiving a Set will be notified when they are truly on their way to you…wheeze!

Staff, Barb’s mom always just used the leftovers when they had a ham and a lot of the meat was taken off. Barb gets these really nice old fashined hocks from the local meat locker. They have so much meat on them that they are like a little mini-ham. They are a little salty however.

Sounds like we started up a mouth watering festival here. Dad’s beans are quite boring. Soaking, etc. then half water, half chicken broth. Serve over cornbread, AND with cornbread on the side. Mom puts ketchup and pickle juice in hers. Dad has become very domestic since The Big Goodbye. Mom loves it.
9:54 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Oh, and mom says that she loves the boring beans. She is not much of a veggie person. She likes everything to taste the way it did when she was a kid. Maybe tomorrow we will get some on our kibble.
Note from Mom: Uh, no, they will not be getting beans.

Hi hi everyone! Mama is doing some modified twirling. The show has been very good so far. Only problem is that during set up at 4 am, she went slip sliding across the polished concrete floor and ended up a s s over teakettle. She didn’t think she injured anything except her dignity bu tonight she is really feeling it. Glad the hotel was only a few minutes from the show, they have a good restaurant here AND a “power shower”
Howlers – so glad your package arrived sans goat detour, and glad baby Kat likes her green eye!
Yaaaawn – so sleepy. Gotta go. Thanks for the good wished all. Hope tomorrow is another good day!

Now, it is raining/freezing rain. AJ is outside plowing the driveway before it turns into an ice-skating rink. All this talk of dogs getting beans (or not getting beans) has Tenzing convinced that he should have AJ’s portion of tonight’s chili.

Pancho!…UhOh!…heh!… Pancho is showing his “soft” side by playing endlessly with those pups…snort!….I wander if Lefty is so easily persuaded to play tug of war with a puppies tail over and over…grunt!….Beau is half my age and to me he is just a pup. He knows Nothing. Nothing I tell youse!…sniff!…He is too soft hearted and wants too much attention. I can’t work with him until he becomes used to having a family and starts ignoring them…gruffle!

ps _ Mama would love to do a tour of the ham and beans over cornbread cookoff. Now you’re talking!!
She does them “reservation style” so instead of cornbread the beans are served over a heap of thin sliced pan fried potatoes.
Yummers!!

We are going to go watch the last of It’s A Wonderful Life. That movie was made 65 years ago. Amazing!
Macy, Barb didn’t want to admit it, but she puts catsup on her beans and cornbread, too. She thought it was wierd, but I guess not.
Rio, Tell your friend that if she does not get the cards mailed on Monday, no worry. Also, thank you for relieving the stress about getting White Wings read right away. It is unusual for Barb to have books piled up to read. It may take her a little while to get thru them.
Hope Wookie is OK.
Sweet dreams all.

Lefty!…Why does that look like the perfect Christmas Card to me?…heh!

I believe Lefty would have one word about that picture: Delish!

Rebeccer!…Is Pancho and Lefty part of the A-Team?…snort!

BSD: I forgot to answer your question. The calenders are currently in production. According to an email I receiced, they should be shipped to us sometime next week. This year, I did them in black and white photographs.

There is a certain handsome pug at the top of my page right now!
Rio: We try to have as many racers ready for the A-team. There are some dogs that we know will be automatically on the A-team barring any injury. Other dogs are trained for the A-team, yet maybe alternates. Today Lefty trained with the A-team and Pancho stayed home. They are both part of the Outlaw litter that makes up a good portion of our A-team. Junior ran with the A-team today.
11:14 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Junior!…..snort!….He ran with the A-Team?!….wow!wow!wow!….heh!…I am so proud of that youngster…sniff!…He ran with the A-Team. If I was his father, I could not be more proud of him….wuffle!
Ummm!…What does AJ the Giant say about Junior?…snort!…Now be honest…heh!
11:49 pm on December 3rd, 2011
Rio: I will have to ask the Giant, I mean husband when he gets in from doing the driveway.

Yesterday mom watched a safety video on Slips, Trips and Fallsat work. Her company provided microwave popcorn and after mom popped it, some oil dripped out of the bag and yep, mom slipped and fell. It was classic! And a little embarrassing but all that was hurt was mom’s pride! She says she has empathy for the royals mum.
