Saturday Morning: Me And Bernie
“Sure hope more scoring starts happening,” Bernie says. “One to one and zero to zero aren’t my idea of entertainment.” Were we talking about soccer? Not my favorite: the ball is just about impossible for me. The only way to manage it is to bite a hole or two in it first; after that it shrinks down to manageable size. But the taste doesn’t compare with a football, for example, and baseballs are still the most interesting, with all that stuff inside.
“Also,” Bernie says, “what do you think ‘xinay on the intay uturesfay’ means? I saw that in the down below part. What a minute! I think I’ve got it!”
What? What? All of a sudden I’m really excited!
Re Free Iggy: go to the Chet Appreciation Society on Facebook (see above), click on Discussions, and there it is.

Bernie! Bernie! What is it!? You got Chet and I excited!
4:25 am on June 12th, 2010
Lexi: It's something Melanie said yesterday about something I mentioned yesterday.
Oh no! Melanie, if Bernie gets it does that mean we will get more about you-know-what? No, no, no….it's all my fault.
Chet and Lexi: Trust me, it's nothing to get excited about. (Barb might enjoy it however.) Audrey looks like she's having a blast.
(By the way, everyone: The "see above" and "discussion" regarding freeing Iggy refers to Facebook not this blog. Just in case…)
4:35 am on June 12th, 2010
Thanks, Bee.

The Pack says, "WE WANT TO BE LIKE AUDREY!"
5:24 am on June 12th, 2010
Maybe if we hide in a corner somewhere here, B Stover, like under the cover pictures of the books at the bottom, he'll forget about you know what. . .
Soccer: both of my guys liked it. OTAS liked it because you could play with your hands in your pockets and that why he could remain "cool." YSAS liked it because of the constant movement. I remember PELE from growing up. That was some great scoring. The one where he'd kick it over his head and score?? Fantastic.
I helped the guys with soccer, when OTAS moved onto baseball he soon outpaced me and YSAS and ice hockey? Yea, these ankles weren't made for skating!
5:53 am on June 12th, 2010
Okay, let's hide Melanie. But how? Maybe we could pull a Franklin?
6:20 am on June 12th, 2010
Wow!… Look at Audrey! She does like to play in the ocean. I just knew it!… snort!… I can ‘t wait till Wookie sees this photo. He will go crazy!… heh!
World Cup!… England vs USA starts at 12:30 today!… wooo!… uh oh! That means we have a lot of errands to run in 3 hours to be able to watch the game without a guilty conscience… crap!
Iggy?….What’s up with the ReFree Iggy stuff?….snort! … Do you know Stover?
6:23 am on June 12th, 2010
B. Stover, that's why I suggested behind the book covers at the bottom of the page. Seems Franklinesque.
And heck with the Pack, I WANT TO BE LIKE AUDREY!
6:25 am on June 12th, 2010
Yeah Audrey!!!!!! Looks like she is having a grand time at the beach. Miss you. Hope to see you soon. Yours fondly and gentlemanly, tag wags and butt sniffs, Wookie.
6:33 am on June 12th, 2010
Wookie!… HA!HA!… You old son of a gun!…heh!
7:22 am on June 12th, 2010
You're right, Melanie. That is Franklinesque. Let's try it.
Rio: On Facebook there is a discussion group titled "Free Iggy."
Speaking of Facebook, a few days ago Spence wrote a comment there that we are at a "tense moment in the Astrid Jason case." And he's left us there!!!
7:23 am on June 12th, 2010
What a nice surprise!! A huge picture of Audrey!! We love it and she is beautiful! I hope she notices that Wookie left her a nice message. uh, no, I don't want to be like Audrey, but I am glad she is enjoying the beach…shudder
7:31 am on June 12th, 2010
RIO? when you get back from doing errands…
There was nothing about the Rockies game in my newspaper this morning…WHAT HAPPENED???
7:35 am on June 12th, 2010
SiberH and Rio. I think the Rockies won, with the game called after 6 innings. Win number 12 for Jimenez (he's the first pitcher to that that many this year)– he's off to a great start. Although we have a guy here in Washington now pitching for the Nationals who may give him a run for his money by the end of the year –Stephen Strasburg, who struck out 14 in 7 innings on Tuesday in his first ever major league start. How about that! Wookie
7:36 am on June 12th, 2010
The picture of Audrey more than makes up for the fact that we are having a very tense moment in the story, and there is no story today.
7:41 am on June 12th, 2010
Thanks Wookie..I am folllowing Strasburg also. I wish for him a very long and very successful career. I think he is going to be pretty amazing.
8:38 am on June 12th, 2010
Facebook!… I don’t do Facebook!… snuff!… Is it a new Iggy discussion or an old Iggy discussion?…grunt!…
Siberh!… The game was called in the sixth inning because it was raining so hard. Rockies won it 5-3….snort!… Its still raining today so we are having a rain delay in errands too…grunt!
Uh oh! …The Nationals are a much better team this year and now with this hot new pitcher, it could get tough…snort!… Wookie, are you changing your loyalties back to your home team?…heh!
8:45 am on June 12th, 2010
Audrey!… It looks like she likes to eat sand!… heh!… Her tail looks just like a Newfie tail…snort!… She has got to be part Newf…cute!…Maybe she was playing a game of fetch with Spencer…grunt!… I wonder how far that little man can throw a ball? …hmmm?
9:04 am on June 12th, 2010
I don't do facebook either. Perhaps some our friends here on Chet's blog will keep us informed, Rio.
Audrey sure looks like she has some Newf in her. I wonder what Melanie thinks?
Well, maybe there will be a Rockies game today and maybe there won't…rain. We are having wind but no rain.
Where is Dawson?
9:11 am on June 12th, 2010
Rio and SH: I just posted a reply to the discussion of Iggy on Facebook. Before that, the last post was April 17. Spence was replying to some ideas that had been posed regarding including Iggy more. (I mainly said that the chemistry of the Chet and Bernie team should not be changed.) However, I'll cut and paste it here if you want me to.
I hope Wolfie is okay.
9:23 am on June 12th, 2010
That is the coolest pic of Audrey!! I'm sure she was posing for Wookie. SiberH…how's getting rid of the powder puff smell going? We were very shocked to read that your mom actually took you to a (shudder) GROOMER!!
Alot going on here so we've only been able to catch up on some of the comments. Glad the pups are doing well. Can't wait to see more pictures of them.
9:34 am on June 12th, 2010
Hmmm!… I’m feeling very irritated for some strange reason!…growl!yeep!…Oh no it is thundering and lightning again…drat!
9:40 am on June 12th, 2010
Hey, guys. Spence just replied to my comment on Facebook.
9:41 am on June 12th, 2010
And I know that you know why you feel irritated Rio. HEE HEE…
9:44 am on June 12th, 2010
Thank you Stover..I would like for you to post it here. Rio and I have a strange reaction to facebook. I can't explain it. I agree with you that the chemistry of Chet and Bernie shouldn't be changed. Iggy just needs more of a life. There are a lot of Iggys in this world.
Me too, I hope Wolfie and his family are okay, and that he'll be back with us soon.
Gus and BooBear, Thanks for thinking of me. I am slowly returning to normal. Oh boy, I was just as shocked as you guys. I am willing to admit one thing…with all the hair that the groomer got out, I am cooler.
9:48 am on June 12th, 2010
Stover!…Today you are in a good mood!…heh!
9:50 am on June 12th, 2010
Here's what I posted on Facebook under the Iggy discussion:
Everyone seems to keep wanting to change the chemistry. I think that that would be a mistake. Chet and Bernie are an excellent team. Period. Iggy should be able to run outside more….in the desert possibly with Chet…but he can't be part of the main storyline it seems to me. That's why I'm pondering the problem of the "new situation with Leda." She should reman "ex-wife" but possibly adding a bit of tension now and then. And Suzie should remain "girlfriend" who helps out sometime. Something that works well shouldn't be added to. (There….I guess I feel better. And I'm probably writing this just to irritate Rio on the blog.)
9:54 am on June 12th, 2010
Rio: I think I'm most often in a good mood. Also, I can't believe that I'm watching World Cup soccer on tv. ("Watching" is not really accurate.) My niece and nephew both played and love soccer. I used to play it in my youth…not on a team but for fun.
9:57 am on June 12th, 2010
I'm in total agreement with Stover…everything she said.
9:58 am on June 12th, 2010
Stover!…What was Spencer’s reply to your post??….snort!
10:01 am on June 12th, 2010
I have never watched a soccer game. I'm trying, but I had to turn down the sound. What is that annoying noise? It is a big pain in my canine ears.
10:05 am on June 12th, 2010
Siberh!… I know that sound is driving us both crazy ….yeeep!
10:07 am on June 12th, 2010
thank goodness..I thought I might be the only one that was hearing it.
10:10 am on June 12th, 2010
Grow!… It sounds like a swarm of bees…snort!
10:16 am on June 12th, 2010
Rio and SH: Don't you hear the same bee-swarming-sound when watching baseball?
It's hot and humid here so I can't do anything outside.
I wonder if Spence would mind if I cut and pasted his replies. (Notice the plural.)
10:22 am on June 12th, 2010
Stover!… No bee swarming sound while watching baseball….snort!… Just Clap!-Clap! Clap!-Clap!-Clap! Wooo!…heh!
10:26 am on June 12th, 2010
Nope, No horrid noise like that when watching baseball. eek Does every soccer game sound like this?
I would like to read Spence's replies.
10:32 am on June 12th, 2010
Storm!… There is a break in the rain, so we are going to race to the grocery store and get me some food….gruff!….I ate the last bit of kibble this morning…yeep!… I am all out of treats too! Don’t forget the TREATS dammit!…snort!
10:41 am on June 12th, 2010
From Facebook:
Spence: Irritating Rio is one good reason, but what you say also makes a lot of sense, Betty.
Me: LOL regarding irritating Rio. Now I think I'll go on the blog and let them know that you replied…..but I won't tell them what you said. HA HA.
I hope we get back to the tense situation with the Astrid Jason case tomorrow, but possibly we will have Ingrid. I'm really looking forward to TFAT.
Spence: Thanks. Yes, most likely Ingrid tomorrow. But the search of Albie's house resumes on Monday, absent some important breaking news or something.
10:43 am on June 12th, 2010
Rio! Never ever EVER forget the treats! Treats are the only thing that keeps me going! Well, that and jnk food, but I'm 'not allowed to have it.' Grr!
10:58 am on June 12th, 2010
Thanks, Stover, for being patient with our Facebook issues and doing this.
I think Rio is hilarious when he gets irritated. Mom says I shouldn't encourage him like this, but what the heck. He's funny!
11:04 am on June 12th, 2010
Just finished the Sherlock Holmes movie. It was really an enjoyable "watch" (just kidding you guys). Loved the start-stop filming of action scenes, whatever that technique is called. Very entertaining, but I agree with you Rio, sometimes it was hard to understand what they were saying, expecially Robert Downey, Jr. In the restaurant scene, when he was making observations about Mary, we missed almost everything he said. Other than the fact that she had been previously engaged. Jude Law was much easier to understand. B was right about the last 3 words – Clarkey, case reopened.
Loved the photo of Audrey this morning.
11:04 am on June 12th, 2010
Holy Crap!… That was a big fat waste of time!… snort!… It was not raining when we left our home, but as we got closer to the grocery store the rain kept coming down harder and harder until it was a full blown torrent of rain…grunt! … She said, “To hell with it” and right then some hail started coming at us!….crap!… She turned the car around and now we are back home with no groceries at all…wheeze!….What ever will I do?????
11:11 am on June 12th, 2010
Spencer!…. “Irritating Rio is one good reason….”… snort!… I will remember that one Mr. Pointy….grunt!…I can't believe you guys talk about me on Facebook!…wheeze!
11:17 am on June 12th, 2010
The immediate solution to Rio's dilemma is….nachos and beer. Then, of course, Lexi gets a pizza.
11:32 am on June 12th, 2010
Lexi!… I feel your pain!… snort!…By the way, my grandma was tickled pink that you sent her tail wags and licks….sniff!…She said to give you her best regards…heh!
11:36 am on June 12th, 2010
We always knew you were special, B Stover!
Also you are correct.
Audrey might be a flat coated retriever. Hard to tell when dogs are wet. Also she could be a very good looking Heinz 57. Wet? She has a lot of Newfoundland qualities.
Almost lost one of the pups last night. Here's Zoë's take on it . . .
I think all of them will make it, altho last night I got really scared. I just put half of them down after mom- time and one wouldn't stop crying. I tried everything I could think of at 1:00 AM food, mom, rocking, etc. Then I took her temperature. It was 98.6. It should have been over 100. I have lost two pups to cold in past litters and was very worried. So I put a puppy blanket in the microwave, filled a hot water bottle and cuddled her in bed with me. Gracie was at the foot of the bed, concerned but she cheered me on. Pup stopped crying and slept and awoke warm and squirmy. I am so glad. That's worth losing sleep. She ate well this AM and I think she will be fine.
I found that hot water bottles help the arthritis in my hands better than heating pads. Or maybe it was the puppy!"
11:38 am on June 12th, 2010
So puppy is doing much better now, but we are watching them like hawks (oh, wait that might not make someone happy here on the blog) watching them like Grace!
Dan's watching soccer in the puppy room. I'm about to put on Mozart for Mutts and read. It is POURING and has been all day, but at least it isn't hailing here!
11:54 am on June 12th, 2010
Very good news about the Puppy!!! Zoe did good, and I know Grace is relieved and happy. Mom and I know that Melanie, her family, and Grace are doing everything they can to keep those puppies safe and healthy.
12:03 pm on June 12th, 2010
Melanie!….Puppy picture! Puppy picture! Puppy picture! Puppy picture!… … please!…gruff!

Loved the photo of Audrey this morning. Does anyone know what breed (s) she is? Newfie mix, or retriever, maybe Lab mix or Flat Coated Retriever?
12:17 pm on June 12th, 2010
Barb? MagPie?… Are you guys having short-term memory problems?…snort!… You already posted that sentiment… grunt!… I’m glad you enjoyed the movie as much as I did!…wheeze!… I can’t wait for the next one to come out!
12:19 pm on June 12th, 2010
Heh!… You guys aren’t doing shots of bourbon this early in the afternoon, are you?…snicker!
12:31 pm on June 12th, 2010
I don't how that happened! No bourbon or red wine either. We left the computer and came back a few minutes later and the post was still there aso we hit submit again, not realizing it had already gone. Boy, do I feel silly!
Glad the puppy is doing better.
12:34 pm on June 12th, 2010

Glad the puppy is doing better.
Now it happened again – hit submit, white box was empty, then post reappeared, so we will try again. Hope we don't post twice.
12:35 pm on June 12th, 2010
I am having a computer glich!!!!!!! Maybe I won't post for a while. Bye.
12:39 pm on June 12th, 2010
Ha!…Barb and MagPie are caught in a loop!… heh!…How strangely funny!
12:43 pm on June 12th, 2010
I'm only assuming that there will be another Sherlock Holmes movie. It seems locigal from the way they set it up with that ending. (That ending differed from the script ending that I found online.)
12:55 pm on June 12th, 2010
Sherlock!… How did the other ending end?…snort!
1:16 pm on June 12th, 2010
Barb! Magpie!…. Maybe you just need to re-boot your computer?… snort!….That’s what we do when things aren’t working well… sneeze!
Weather!….It is downright chilly in our house now…snort!… I can’t believe this wacky quacky weather…grunt!…Being stuck inside all day with no food is no fun at all…crap!
1:16 pm on June 12th, 2010
It's a scene with Mary, Watson and Holmes and something about a razor. It's completely different. Holmes has given Watson the diamond ring to give Mary. At the end Holmes is walking the streets of London. Here's the internet site:

1:34 pm on June 12th, 2010
Wow!
That Audrey is a whole lotta woman. I can see why Wookie is smitten. Like a Newf and (possibly) less drool.
Rio and Melanie: You have certainly had your share of rain. We are dry as a bone up here. Almost 80 degrees.
Siber H: On this date in 2003 we had an inch of snow.
1:40 pm on June 12th, 2010
I'm laughing at my mental image of B.Stover and Melanie "pulling a Franklin".
1:55 pm on June 12th, 2010
Wow! An inch of snow in June! We are having a "cold wave" go through…only 85 today. When Rio gets snow or rain, we usually just get wind. We are very dry, also, but then that is the way it goes here.
2:03 pm on June 12th, 2010
Stover!… That ending is so different!…snort!…I am so glad they changed it. They did manage to keep the ring in the story though!…cough!…I was able to make out the words “Clarky” and “Case”, but I could not get the “reopened” part….snuff!!… I’m hungry. I bet I will die tonight…sniff!
2:18 pm on June 12th, 2010
Rio: Go eat something!
2:30 pm on June 12th, 2010
I'm worried about Rio. He's trapped by bad weather and has no food. Maybe we could call in the National Guard to bring in relief supplies.
2:32 pm on June 12th, 2010
SH: That's a good idea. Although…..do they deliver pizza there, even in bad weather?
3:02 pm on June 12th, 2010
Who ever it is you lives near Buffalo, could you stop sending the rain this way?
3:05 pm on June 12th, 2010
Stover just gave me an idea, Rio, call and have a pizza delivered. One of the pizza chains should be able to get through the weather. They want to make money, so they should be motivated.
cough, gag, hack…We have had wind gusts to 50 mph. Several forest fires are burning in the state, but all is okay so far.
3:07 pm on June 12th, 2010
Since it's raining so hard, perhaps a pack of Portuguese Water Dogs could bring some Portuguese chicken to Riö, and grill it up for him!

3:15 pm on June 12th, 2010
That chicken looks wonderful. Is that whole chickens flattened out? We are trying to do this again, and hopefully will only post once.
3:19 pm on June 12th, 2010
Yes, whole chickens! I have no idea how they flattened them out. . . Large feet?
I googled Portuguese food and I thought Riö would appreciate them.
3:23 pm on June 12th, 2010
Burp!… Well, she finally went out again in the rain and got some burgers and I got some of it too!… snort!… The French fries are wonderful Lexi!…heh!… So I think I might survive the night…grunt!… Rockies are able to play tonight, the mound is dry!… yea!…
Ugh!…Are those some chickens that MagPie ixnayed??…snort!…Where’s the puppy pictures???…grunt!
3:28 pm on June 12th, 2010
I don't think I've posted this one??

3:36 pm on June 12th, 2010
Look!….There’s a fork in the chicken!…snort!… It’s like a visual for Wolfie’s famous saying, “Stick a fork in me I’m done!”…heh!
Ooooo!… Poor lil Miss Green is getting stepped on by Mr. Tan… sniff!…But hey! They are up walking now?? … snort!snort!… They are so shiny, must be all that milk…heh!
3:41 pm on June 12th, 2010
Melanie – It's me and Sam who are sending the rain your way. We get a little rain here and there and then send the rest right on to you!
3:46 pm on June 12th, 2010
Uh oh, My Mom and my girl are both oohing and aahing over the Newf pictures.
3:49 pm on June 12th, 2010
Snort!… Lookit their little ears…heh!
3:50 pm on June 12th, 2010
Hey!… Melanie! Can’t you line them all up for a group photo??…huh?
3:52 pm on June 12th, 2010
The puppies are growing by the minute! They are adorable.
And we are totally innocent of any chicken wrongdoings. I think they cut through the back bones and leave the rest of the chicken intact to get that spread out look.
4:03 pm on June 12th, 2010
Oh. My. God. I just got a bath. And now I'm clean. Actually CLEAN. Megan and mommy grab me, shove me in the tub, and they laugh and say, "You look like a wet rat, Lexi." I feel like biting something right now!!! Grr!!
Melanie. Cute pups.
4:04 pm on June 12th, 2010
Can't get a group photo yet. They must stay in their crews to make sure feedings are correct! Not sure why Beige is standing up. They actually don't do that for around three weeks. I think while squirming over siblings a foot dangled.
We want to thank you so much Mollypop and Sam. Could you save some of the rain for yourselves? We have a stream on the road.
Nite all, will catch up with all you night owls and westerners in the morning.
Looking forward to more Ingrid! (not intay uturesfay!)
4:10 pm on June 12th, 2010
Beige!…. Looks like that little guy is standing to me!… snort!… I wish I could send our rain to Siberh. He needs some cooling off, even though it is only 85 out there in New Mexico… grunt!… Its in the forties here….brrr!
4:13 pm on June 12th, 2010
Lexi!…What in the world do you do to even get dirty??… snort!… As far as I can. all you do is sit in a 12 year olds room and watch movies with her…grunt!
4:36 pm on June 12th, 2010
Wow! Rio is in paradise (45 degrees) and he is only one state away. I'd even be agreeable to rain if it would cool it to 45 degrees. I'd even be willing to go out and pee in the rain for that temperature.
Lexi, you must not smell very good right now. I find clean dog smell offensive. Go find something to roll in, and you'll be back to normal in no time.
5:07 pm on June 12th, 2010
Rain!…. I’ve been pissing in the rain all last night and all day today…snort!… Its not as hard to do as the snow thing, but just as frustrating… grunt!… I have to be toweled off every time I come inside and all my paws have to be wiped clean… growl!… good grief! I won’t need no fussy bath for ages….wheeze!
6:05 pm on June 12th, 2010
Hey!…The Rockies win their first 1- 0 game at Coors Field tonight!…Wooo!…In the nick of time too, it was starting to rain in the 9th inning…. boy oh boy!.. I am so hoping that the losing streak is behind them…grunt! … We have to go visit those Twins soon and we will need a lot of confidence to face those guys!….sneeze!
6:09 pm on June 12th, 2010
Rockies Won! Good game and good pitching. Goodnight Rio, I think we are the only ones left. Sweet dreams dear friend and sleep good in that cool air.
Goodnight puppies…have a safe, cozy, night

Just thought I better say Hi and Bye cause I spent the day quilting. We sneak back into the quilt store tomorrow for another day of it. I am working on a quilt for (HI sis) Dawson's grandson (and my great nephew) Lots of color and glow in the dark stars.
Whoooppee!
G'nite Rio, Siber H. Sorry to miss you guys today.
