Admin: What’s all this hashish tag stuff? Is the whole world stoned out of its cotton-pickin’ –

Spence: That’s hash tag.

Admin: Never mind.

    Good morning all.

Gilda Radner has caused many belly laughs.

Good morning, Awesome! Back in the day of SNL and the Not Ready for Prime Time Players, Gilda Radner was a jewel.

I am laughing at the conversation between Admin and Spence.

RIO! Being a person who loves to look up facts, trivial or not, I wanted to find out if there was indeed, a LopLop. There is! Not that this has anything to do with the series “Fargo.”

I am sending very strong good and positive thoughts to your Friend. It makes me very sad when she is sad.

As I understand it, hash tags are a Twitter thing. (I’ve never used Twitter.)

    Good morning all.

Good morning everyone! To sort of quote Gilda Radner, “It’s like my mother used to say, if it’s not one thing, it’s something else.”
    Have a something else day.

Housing update….Sunny, dry day. Will be in the low 50’s today. The building crew? One guy digging holes for the screen room. We wish things could happen at the same time…like multi-tasking.

Good morning all. I have to say that one of the most annoying things in life is #hashtags. I absolutely HATE hashtags with a passion. My DIL uses them all the time. For example, she will post a picture of the kids on F B and then say #siblinglove, #mysnugglebugs, #lovemykids. It drives me bonkers.

LopLop sounds like something from Dr. Seuss. I know it isn’t but it sounds like it.

I also loved Gilda. Such a sad loss.

Thank you Basil and Sage…I think. (I had to look up Gilda Radner….Sorry. I’ve never watched Saturday Night Live.) Why are hash tags connected with her?

Bear: I don’t have a “smart phone.” Whenever my students asked I always said that I have a “dumb phone.”

I looked it up: Hashtag is one word.

  16. Wose-the small and meek
    12:28 pm on December 3rd, 2015

B.M,&L: I agree with you on hashtags…hate them! Also hate that women (and now men too) walk around with their cell phones as if the phone was permanently soldered on to their hand. What I hate even more is when I see little girls who are no more than 9 or 10 doing the same thing. My cell phone is always in my bag, and turned off. The only time I turn it on is when Grizz and I are separated. We still have a land line, so when Grizz is teaching and I am home, he calls the land line.

I went to the movies with my friend Fran yesterday, and when the reminder comes up to turn off your phone (must people really be reminded?!?),she asked me if I turn off my phone. I told her yes, I always do. She seemed shocked, and asked me “Do you mean off, off?” I told her absolutely, and then said if it is that important a call, the person will call back.

I am stepping off my soapbox now.

Sending WosenGrizz healing thoughts to Martha and the Storyteller.

Rose, That is so true about phones. We were brought up when you called back if you didn’t get an answer. Mr.Staff and I still have our land line. We have cell phones but they are dummies. There are times when they are useful but…

What drives me crazy is when you have something that is not simple to discuss and people insist on texting it. I have begun to refuse to text. You want me you call me.

Hashtags. Luckily I am able to just ignore them. They do not exist in my universe #notweeting (snicker)

  19. BearSpiritDog

Suze: Go to the Top of the Page and the Listing of C&B Mysteries. Reading from Right to Left…beginning with Dog On It and ending with Scents and Sensibility. Eight books in all.

    1:53 pm on December 3rd, 2015

Staff, I don’t tweet either, but hashtags are impossible to escape. They do them on FB and talk about them on tv all the time. Example – Today Show. When I hear or see “hashtag” it is like nails on the chalkboard.

  21. Linda

I’m with youse guys on #hashtags. What are they supposed to denote? Subjects? Nouns? A title? A fad that I’m not interested in?

    I don’t text either.

    I really liked Gilda Radner.

Bee – re Gilda and hashtags: her SNL character of Roseanne Rosanna Danna was forever misunderstanding certain phrases or words and getting indignant by saying “what’s all this I hear about (i.e.) hashish?” Then she would go into a diatribe about it, until someone would say to her “no, not hashish….hashTAGS”. At that point, she would smile beautifically at the camera and say, “oh…..never mind”.
They were great sketches with funny commentary. But ya kinda had to have been there.

And how about This…walking the dogs at night we frequently see people who have hoodies from their sweatshirts or jackets pulled over their heads, but their faces are GLOWING white! It is sort of alien like or maybe zombies. And it is because they have their glowing phones up to their faces to read texts I guess, plus no fear of stumbling over anything in the road or another alien coming up behind them. These folks cannot even walk without constant communication. It also bugs me that grocery stores are full of people who must be directed to each choice by whomever is on their phone. How did we ever survive before the cell phone days? I guess we just Plundered On! (we here have pre-paid dumb phones)

    2:16 pm on December 3rd, 2015

I will say that I delight in the fact that Dick Tracy had it right all those many years ago in the comics. He and his colleagues came fully equipped with what is now the latest thing….wrist phones! (Ok, so maybe they were two way radios, but they started it!)

ALR, when I was at the tree lighting on the square last week, there was a group of young women in front of us. They spent the entire time posing with each other and taking pictures so they could all upload to their sites. I don’t think they even watched the ceremony. Crazy I tell you!

I don’t use Twitter or Instagram. That’s where hashtags are used. They’re used to organize posts so topics can be located and followed. Like the title on a file folder. The more people follow a hashtag, the more it is trending. I doubt this will go away soon.

  63. Barb, Maggie and Lucy
    9:04 pm on December 3rd, 2015

MPM, that is not what I am talking about. Most of the younger people I follow on FB follow all their comments with added hashtags. Usually several, all more as adjectives, ie, # cutefurryfriends, #bestfriends, #loveofmylife. Usually there are several, and I don’t think they are doing it as trending, just to be cute.
