RIP: Cookie Gilchrist
“Was he one of the greatest to ever play the game?” says Spence.
“Undoubtedly,” says Admin.
“Fierce?”
“For sure.”
“Difficult?”
“Maybe, but you have to consider the racism in the sport and country at that time.”
“Exploited?”
“Terribly, starting with what the Browns did to him.”
“One of those guys who never got his due?”
“No question.”
“That always bothers me.”
“Life, as they always say, is not fair.”
“And we just accept that?”
Our best wishes to C. Harris.

Good morning, y’all! I don’t know who Cookie Gilchrist was, but his name sure does make me hungry! Mom has the day off again — everything’s still closed because of icy conditions — so I’m going to go see what she’s got cooking!
9:58 am on January 11th, 2011
Good morning! C. Harris, my heart goes out to you. Drat that Rainbow Bridge!
10:02 am on January 11th, 2011
I don’t know who Cookie Gilchrist is so I’ll have to look him up. No doubt a sports figure.
Good morning all.
10:13 am on January 11th, 2011
Good morning. We don’t know who he is either, but will look him up. Just read that Google as a verb is very annoying to people, so we will look up instead.
Snowing here, but not too much so far, maybe a couple of inches. Not as bad as the southeast. Barb’s sister in law probably is home today. They live in Raleigh-Durham area. Will go call her.

1-11-11!… Oh CHarris! It’s -9 here and I’m hating it…grunt!… It makes everything hurt when I go outside. And I mean everything!…grumble!
10:27 am on January 11th, 2011
Was it Liz who talked about “under bits” or some such term? Because my under bits certainly don’t like the snow!!!
10:46 am on January 11th, 2011
Oh Rio….it’s -9 here too! You wuss 🙂 It is too weird, too warm for us this time of year but no complaints as we can have winter until May so we have a long ways to go. My advice: start growing a thick coat of fur. In the spring you can shed it off all over the furniture. My dogs are actually shedding now because it is too warm.
Actually, I extend everyone sympathies for their unexpected cold and snow. Our school squeezed in a fire drill the other day because it was so nice. We have to have one every month and it is brutal to be standing outside w/o a coat, hat or gloves at -20 or -30. They are unannounced but kids are smart enough to start wearing coats to the classroom a lot during the couse of the year.
Thanks Chet & Bernie. I could barely get up today and am 45 minutes behind already. My eyes feel swollen and my throat hurts. And I have a meeting with the principal today {{{sigh}}}} about a committee I chair. He’s a good guy but I hope I can get my head together.
10:52 am on January 11th, 2011
Yes, he was an NFL player. Lots of good things are said about him.
Good Luck C. Harris. Your Kat sounded just wonderful.
Riö: Sled dogs wear little insulated “comfortables” for their under-bits. Would that help?
Smart dog alert! Not as smart as Chet thought . . .

Wolfie: I agree but I figure that when it is time for me to cross that bridge there will be so many dogs and cats running to greet me….a happy reunion for us all.
11:06 am on January 11th, 2011
Melanie: I’ve never heard of “comfortables.” Too funny, I can’t imagine how they would work. Well, I should have left for work 10 minutes ago. I’m off…
11:10 am on January 11th, 2011
Melanie: That’s an interesting article.
Rio: Regarding Lie to Me and the pug remark–she was just taking on the role of a bitter exwife. Don’t take it personally.
11:19 am on January 11th, 2011
Stover!… I was just thinking about Isabella….heh!…It was so funny that he had her picture right on his mantle…snort!…I thought ole what’s her name was making the Pug story up…sniff!

Finally, I’m back.
C.Harris – So sad to lose your beloved pet of 18 years.
Cookie Gilchrist is a football idol in Buffalo. Here is his obituary:

I had no idea what Chet’s post was about today until I read the comments from the plunderers. I just knew it wasn’t about baseball.
I read Melanie’s article. That dog is remarkable. There are too many words in the English language that I don’t like…come, stay, down. Mostly, I pretend I don’t understand English.
Melanie, I’m a sled dog and I have never heard of comfortables. Maybe it doesn’t get cold enough here, but whatever they are, I am NOT wearing them. I have, you know, hair down there.
11:39 am on January 11th, 2011
Sibero-H!….Way too much information pal….grunt! … I don’t know what “comfortables” are either and I don’t really want to know. Heck, she still hasn’t bought me those little booties. Probably because she knows I will not let her put them on me anyways….snort!
11:53 am on January 11th, 2011
I know lots of words and some that I pretend not to know. Tee hee.
My girl recorded a Good Dog U. show for me to watch. The first part was all about “sit” and “stay”. I was all perky-eared because I’m very good at that. Then it was about the word “no” and I flopped down, my ears all droopy so my girl turned the TV off. I didn’t like that part.
11:57 am on January 11th, 2011
Wofford College is here in South Carolina. Maybe I should go offer myself as their next subject — I’m a pretty smart dog myself! And it’s not just knowing what the words mean, it’s knowing when it’s important to pay attention. Just this morning I was licking the couch — one of my favorite things to do! — and Dad kept saying, “Kirby, Kirby, Kirby” because he wanted me to stop. Didn’t matter to me one bit. On the other hand, Mom said “Kirby” once and I knew I’d better pay attention!

Cookie Gilchrist also played for the Canadian Football League. He refused multiple times to be nominated for the Hall of Fame due to the racism he experienced there.
It’s 5 degrees (Fahrenheit) here – warmer than both Rio’s and C. Harris’ temperatures. Still, it’s -15 (Celsius) so I’m not running to get outside today.

Urgent to all the Plunderers – Please, start saying prayers for Melanie and all her family. Zoe has been taken to the hospital by ambulance and we are all pretty scared. I will be meeting Melanie at the hospital in a little while and will try to get back to a computer for updates to you asap.
I know how much Melanie thinks of all of you -I have heard so much about all of you before I jumped into the blog. You have provided her with support and laughter and destressing this past year when she needed it most, and I am so eternally grateful to all of you for caring for my friend.
I will be online for about 20 minutes before I leave for the hospital. Thanks for all good thoughts and prayers!

12:03 pm on January 11th, 2011
Oh…I am praying.
12:07 pm on January 11th, 2011
Oh no…not Zoe. Amalia: Please tell Melanie that I’m thinking about her and hoping all goes well. Let us know when you can.
12:11 pm on January 11th, 2011
We are praying and we are concerned. We love that family. I’m so glad you are there to help, Amalia.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Zoe, Dan and Melanie and the rest of the family.

Zoe!… Oh no. ..sob!… I wonder what happened…sob!…
Lord of all Creation please take our special friend Zoe into your healing hands and give her strength to overcome what has happened. All of us are so very concerned about her right now. Please hear our prayers for her. Amen.

Dear Lord, please watch over and protect this family.
12:38 pm on January 11th, 2011
T&G: I hope it is nothing serious. Thoughts & prayers are with Zoe and her family.
C.Harris: I am so sorry about your wonderful cat. I know she had a great life with you.
Rio: Thanks for the tips re Lie to Me. I almost missed the mousetrap. Don’t feel bad, there was a really large really cute picture of Isabella behind the desk.
12:49 pm on January 11th, 2011
I don’t remember the picture of Isabella.
12:52 pm on January 11th, 2011
Isabella!… Stover in that last scene he was sitting at his desk and right behind his right shoulder was a photo of Isabella’s face….snort!….She was so cute…sniff!
1:00 pm on January 11th, 2011
Waiting!….It’s going to be a long day waiting to hear about Zoe’s condition….gulp!… I don’t do waiting very well. I don’t like the way this year is starting out so far….sniffle!
1:06 pm on January 11th, 2011
I agree, Rio. Once a person arrives at the ER, it can take hours to know anything because of all the labwork they do. It is going to be a long day.
1:29 pm on January 11th, 2011
None of us do waiting well. Waiting to hear from an ER is the worst kind of waiting. Zoe is such an important part of our family. She has shown great strength through much adversity. She has inspired and sustained us with her character. We send her all our prayers now to help her the same way she has done for us. She doesn’t want us sitting around with long faces, waiting, waiting…
I have finally finished a large ice luminary and…although it is daytime, it is overcast and gloomy so I have lit a candle in it to signify the light of joy and laughter that Zoe always brings to us via the Newfs.
I’m watching a Murdoch Mysteries on television.
I saw that Pug on the table on Lie to Me but couldn’t really see any details to the face – just a black shape in a frame.

I have a double blog bug. Bugger.
Oh yeah. The floods in Australia have reached Brisbane, the 3rd largest city and parts of it are being evacuated. My co-worker is there now. And LizF. – you are not far away if I remember correctly.
1:41 pm on January 11th, 2011
Mom saw the reports of the flooding this morning and wondered how close that was to Liz. I hope the floods stop soon, and that Liz is safe and sound.
1:48 pm on January 11th, 2011
This blog has been having some strange problems lately.
Very well said about Zoe, Dawson. Wish I could see the ice luminary.
Mom is going through some old paperwork today and getting rid of it so we are more or less hanging out in the same room the computer is in. Maybe I should shove mom outside for some fresh air.
1:50 pm on January 11th, 2011
LizF: Canberra is several hundred miles south of Brisbane, so Liz is safe for now. Australia as a whole is having a hard time of it.
1:55 pm on January 11th, 2011
My double blog bug. It must be a Canadian thing because I’m the only one that has it. Happens if I take a long time to write a post or if I don’t delete the post immediately after posting it. It’s as if anything I have written automatically posts after a certain amount of time even if I don’t hit the submit button.
1:58 pm on January 11th, 2011
Dawson: I couldn’t remember where Liz lives — I’m glad she’s so far away from the troubles, but I’m sorry there are troubles at all.
2:01 pm on January 11th, 2011
Dawson: I’ve been deleting whatever’s in the box as soon as what I’ve written posts, so I can get ready to write again. Maybe if you start doing that it’ll solve your problem.
2:04 pm on January 11th, 2011
The sun just broke out.
The ice candle weighs about 30 pounds! I wanted to put it on the highest mound of snow (where we shovel the most snow) so passersby could admire it. So I slid it over to the spot, said a prayer (“give me the strength of Zoe”) and hefted it onto the mound. Which promptly disappeared under the weight and the candle sunk to below snow level so no one could see it. So I rolled it back over to by the front door where it was created. I used blue and red food coloring in the ice, so it is purple.
2:09 pm on January 11th, 2011
Kirby T. I think you are right about my blog bug. Except for that last one which double posted as soon as I hit submit. It’s something I’m doing or not, hate to admit it. Can’t I just blame Mikey?
2:11 pm on January 11th, 2011
Dawson: I think that’s your best bet — perhaps we need to sic Bee on him again!!!
2:13 pm on January 11th, 2011
Lord of All Creation. Please watch over Zoe and keep her safe and well. Amen.
2:17 pm on January 11th, 2011
When Mom wrote computer software, she said that if it had a bug, she documented it and called it an enhancement.
2:23 pm on January 11th, 2011
Melanie, Dan and the Pack — please know that our prayers are with you and with Zoe. Tupper and Gilly’s mom, thank you for letting us know what happened and please keep us informed and give Melanie an extra hug for all of us. The power of prayer on this blog is mightly powerful, so hopefully that will help Zoe in her time of need. Wookie, Wookie’s dad and Wookie’s mom
2:26 pm on January 11th, 2011
I’m afraid I’m not very good at waiting — I wish we knew what’s happening.
2:32 pm on January 11th, 2011
We are all anxiously awaiting word on Zoe.
2:42 pm on January 11th, 2011
HAPPY HAPPY CORGI DANCE!!!! Zoe did NOT have a heart attack! She does have a heart problem which they think is something called unstable angina. She may need eventual surgical assistance, but she is out of danger right now.
Zoe and Melanie thank you so much for your care and prayers. They are breathing easier, and now talking to the doctor about what needs to happen next. Zoe will stay here overnight which is great since we are supposed to have this big blizzard tomorrow.
2:45 pm on January 11th, 2011
Oh! Thank you Tupper and Gilly. You and your mother sure came along at the right time to ease our anxiety on this blog. Gratefulness abounds.
2:49 pm on January 11th, 2011
Wooo!…Oh thank Heavens!…snort! ….What a relief. I just hope they don’t have to take her home during the blizzard tomorrow…grunt! ….Damned weather!
Log!… Have you guys seen Melanie’s log lately. …snort!…It has a lot of really cute photos from Christmas…snuffle!
2:57 pm on January 11th, 2011
Zoe’s EKG is very very abnormal. They have no idea why,and will keep her for diagnostics. The doctor seems really straightforward and is saying we don'[t need to panic and rush into surgery. And they are keeping the blizzard in mind. They may move her to a bigger hospital today, but they won’t know about that for a while. If she doesn’t move today, it won’t be tomorrow in the snow. The doc is now ordering lots and lots more tests and saying she may have to have a heart catheritzation tomorrow.
Keep sending those good thoughts and prayers. I read all your comments to Zoe and Melanie and they were deeply touched
3:02 pm on January 11th, 2011
What good news! Thanks to T&G’s Mom for her assistance. Now if that darn blizzard could just move a little bit to the west, we’ll take it here instead. Our snow needs a little whitening up.
3:05 pm on January 11th, 2011
Mollypop – you are welcome to it!
3:08 pm on January 11th, 2011
We have to log off for now and go to work. Zoe is going to sleep and wait for a room to be ready. I’m sure
Melanie will be on line tonight with more updates.
Thanks again for everything!!!
3:18 pm on January 11th, 2011
Thanks Tupper and Gilly — I’ll join you in that corgi dance, because who knows? I might just have some corgi in me! (When I went to the vet the other day for my annual exam, under breed she put “mixed mix” — even she couldn’t guess what I am!)
Study hard and pass all those tests, Zoe!!!
3:35 pm on January 11th, 2011
Thanks so much Tupper & Gilly’s mom You two Corgies did come along at the right time. I don’t think this was an accident. We would have been worried to death without your updates.
Our prayers and well wishes continue for Zoe, Melanie, and Dan. The Newfs are sending powerful Newf prayers your way.
3:39 pm on January 11th, 2011
Dawson, I get rid of what I have written in the submit comment box by hitting the refresh button. It magically goes away then.
3:44 pm on January 11th, 2011
Thank you T&G.
A friend of my dad had angina. They finally got it regulated with medicine.
Melanie and Zoe: We are thinking about you and sending good vibes your way.
We have lots of snow here. One inch in about an hour. It’s small flakes so it will keep falling probably through tonight.
4:13 pm on January 11th, 2011
T&G – thank dog you joined the blog when you did.
Lord of Creation, sustain Zoe and her family and guide us as we pray for them. Be with the Pack too, please.
4:23 pm on January 11th, 2011
Thank goodness! We just got a chance to catch up on today’s posts and freaked about Zoe. So grateful to T&G for the quick updates and the good news. Hopefully, Zoe will have better results with the test results not getting lost than poor Dan had. And Dan must be beside himself with worry since he can’t be there.
Prayers and purrs to your family, Melanie.
And we are so sorry about your baby, CHarris. It’s hard even when it’s time.
4:33 pm on January 11th, 2011
Siber H: On my netbook, whenever I refreshed, my comments disappeared but on this computer the comments stay unless I actually “backspace” them away.
I’m going to post a comment without submitting (after I post this comment), leave it there for awhile, then come back, hit submit and see what happens. BBL

5:06 pm on January 11th, 2011
Tupper and Gilley — Thank you so much for the update. It’s terrific that it wasn’t as serious as it seemed as first, but we definitely will keep our prayers for Zoe going strong here in Chevy Chase, as her tests progress. Wookie and family
5:14 pm on January 11th, 2011

5:16 pm on January 11th, 2011
Glad Zoe is temporarily out of the woods. Let’s home she can get back home ASAP. Who is watching the pack? How will this effect your surgery on Friday, Melanie. Hope everything goes smoothly.
5:28 pm on January 11th, 2011
Honestly — Dan’s in rehab, Zoe’s in the hospital and Melanie is heading there! I think some of us need to go up there and take care of everyone!!!
5:45 pm on January 11th, 2011
Dawson – Then clearly you can see that’s an enhancement.
5:48 pm on January 11th, 2011
I like seeing all those little Dawsons as i scroll down the page!
CHarris, many condolences on the loss of your cat, and thanks for the cute story about her too.
Melanie that’s great(ish) news about Zoe, really good that it wasn’t as bad as first thought.
Thanks guys, luckily I’m a long way from those floods, but they are crazy, and keep going on and on. Raining here today and we’ve only had two hot days all summer!
5:49 pm on January 11th, 2011
Kirby – My Mom is thinking of going to Melanie’s if needed. I go to Sam’s, Mom get on the I-90, it goes straight east, and not long after will be there.
6:01 pm on January 11th, 2011
Rio: Is that how you delete your comments? Or do they disappear when you refresh?
6:13 pm on January 11th, 2011
Crying Wolf! Our weather forecasters are at it again. We are supposed to get 3 – 5 inches of snow in Buffalo.
Is that all you’ve got? Huh? Huh? Is that all you’ve got?
6:14 pm on January 11th, 2011
Kirby and Mollypop. We have been thinking of the same thing…if only some of us could get to Melanies and help.
6:17 pm on January 11th, 2011
Mollypop: That’s good! I was worried about who would take care of everyone, but you’re a lot closer than I am — plus the roads around here are still not cleared. The schools are closing tomorrow for yet another day. (The local kids already had Monday and Tuesday off for teacher inservice days, so you know they were gnashing their teeth over being “cheated” out of snow days! And the last storm was during Christmas vacation, so still no snow days. At least they’ll get an actual school day off tomorrow!) Mom’s still waiting to hear about the library, but Dad already had to go back to his school this afternoon. But if you need me to help, I’m ready and willing. I just have to put on my coat — is there still time to order some of those comfortables for my under bits???
6:33 pm on January 11th, 2011
Thank all of you for your prayers and good wishes!
Zoë is resting. Something I can’t get her to do here at home. She’s had an x-ray (normal), blood tests (normal so far), ultra sound (normal) and tomorrow she is having the camera up the artery in her leg to look at her heart. She’s on morphine, blood thinner, has an nitroglycerine patch on and her kindle. When she called me from the doctors, crying, I asked what I could bring and she said add more books to the kindle. So I did. I surprised her with two of Laura Levine’s. I told her you guys were really enjoying them.
Dan took it hard. I went to him after I knew Zoë was stable and his doctor was there. She is also Zoë’s doctor and was just about to tell Dan about Zoë. Afterward, I held his hand and he tried to explain their relationship to me, and the words just weren’t right. I told him, I lived with them and knew that their relationship was the strongest I’d ever seen.
I told his nurse what had happened. Then while the nurse was there, I told Dan he was not allowed to “man up” and not to freak himself out. The nurse said he’d be in to talk with Dan and would keep an eye on him.
Dog, that was hard.
Riö, your heartfelt prayer was just what Zoë needed. T&G’s mom read it to her and we all cried.
Thanks again all. I must get something to eat and will be back later.
6:45 pm on January 11th, 2011
If Mom had won that lottery, she’d hop on a plane and go help with the pack while Zoe and then Melanie are recovering. But we didn’t win, so all we can do is keep the blog prayers and purrs going. Melanie, hope you can update us on Zoe this evening. Tell her we are all thinking real strong get better thoughts!
7:30 pm on January 11th, 2011
If only there was a multi-use hospital/rehab room so the Montague/Carpenter clan could be together during their various surgery/rehab/exploratory tests.
B.Stover: Good luck tomorrow with your appointment.
7:39 pm on January 11th, 2011
Melanie, I called the Newfs today while you were gone. They promised me that they would make you rest and take care of yourself. I’m worried about you as well as Zoe and Dan.
7:40 pm on January 11th, 2011
Prayers for Zoe, Dan, Melanie, the pack and C. Harris. Tailwags and kisses for the rest of y’all.
7:41 pm on January 11th, 2011
Prayers for B as well on that testing stuff tomorrow. Hope it all goes well.
7:53 pm on January 11th, 2011
Melanie!… You must be at your wits end tonight….sniff!… Someone here sort of knows maybe a little of what you are going through. Please take care of yourself and your knee and get some rest tonight before you start all over tomorrow…snuffle! …I know we’d all be there at your side helping if we could. This was sure unexpected and you are probably still taking it all in…sniffle!…Have a nice cup of tea and some supper and maybe read a good book; that Levine gal sounds like just the ticket…heh!… I will keep you in my Puggish Prayers tonight my dear…sluuuuurrrrrp! nip!nip!nip!
7:54 pm on January 11th, 2011
Dawson!….I don’t have any trouble leaving my last comment hanging out there….snort!… I always try to remember to refresh before I post again. If it’s a rapid fire 2 – 3 posts in a row for some reason, then I highlight and delete the text…grunt!… I do Not backspace one character at a time for Pete’s sake…heh!
8:01 pm on January 11th, 2011
Keep us posted when you have time, Melanie.
Good luck with the tests tomorrow, Bee.
This year has got to get better!
8:20 pm on January 11th, 2011
Rio: “I do not backspace one character at a time for Pete’s sake.” I push the key down and hold it until it gets the job done. But yes, highlighting the text and deleting it is at least a quarter of a second faster on most of my posts and possibly saves 2 seconds on the longest, so thanks for that. Over time, it will save me hours. 🙂
8:21 pm on January 11th, 2011
Thank you everyone. I really appreciate it.
Melanie: Thank you for letting us know the update. Wolfie’s mom emailed me because she can’t get online right now. I copied your post and sent it to her. Our thoughts are with you. Rest, eat and use Anne’s method to relax.
8:34 pm on January 11th, 2011
Let us remember that the year of the Rabbit has not started yet.
Last from Zoë was she was reading and getting ready to sleep. My sister went from there to see Dan and said he was doing better. The nurse suggested taking something to help him sleep, and he said he didn’t need it. My sister said to keep it in mind if he started thinking too much. She told him all the ways he didn’t need to worry. Zoë was taken care of, he was taken care of and I was going to be fine on Friday.
I have a neighbor with a tractor snowblower who’s going to keep my car free from snow, just in case. Jesse is going to come after work tomorrow to clear everything else off. Hopefully, they have the totals wrong and we will have less.
When my sister left, Dan had his curtains open. He wants to see the snow. That is cool.
On the other hand, I’m shutting the curtains to keep the cold out!

B. Stover: Good luck tomorrow. I’ll be thinking of you.

Jeez Louise! I just looked at the radar. MollyPop and Sam are you getting hit? It looks like it. I think Rose might be getting snow also. Not sure where she is but I’m thinking it’s near NYC.
Riö: YSAS did the audition. They liked what he did. They even laughed. I told him that was a good thing considering they had probably listened to the same words 100 times. Now it’s just up to the star . . .

Stover, Best Wishes for tomorrow. I think the doctors can get you to feeling better and you can go to Florida.

Best wishes to Zoe & family and to B. Stover.
I was feeling physically bad this morning and I thought it was because of the loss of my cat. Then I got to work and other people were feeling bad. It turns out that there is an extremely high pressure system sitting above the arctic. Among other things, it affects instrument readings in airplanes. Barometric readings above 31″ of mercury affect altimeters so that altitude readings can be several hundred feet off actual altitudes. Pilots are being advised not to fly unless they can make visual landings as opposed to instrument landings. At least the skies are clear and there is no ice fog or blowing snow.
If it can affect machines, I am figuring that the severe high pressure zone is also affecting everyone’s bodies in various ways. This is supposed to continue for a couple more days.

Good Luck tomorrow B.
Melanie: Thanks for the update. Try to get some rest.

Hi everyone – Mama is home from work with her crazy boss and got online right away to see how Zoe, Melanie and Dan are doing.
Kirby – we would be proud to claim you as a Corgi cousin, especially as one of your favorite hobbies is licking the couch. You should just SEE what two Corgis can do to a moss green microsuede sectional sofa in just a half hour – we make it look like green giraffe hide with big icky wet spots all over. Makes Mama crazy, trying to find a dry spot to sit on – tee hee.
Bee – please add our prayers to all the others for your best results tomorrow. We just know you can pass all your tests.
Melanie – you know where to find us if you need us.

I’ll tell him Riö!
Dan and Zoë’s anniversary is this month. Dan is still scheduled to come back on the 18th. It will be their 60th.
I remembered one of my first photoshop attempts from 6 years ago. I think it will either weird you out or make you laugh. I’m hoping it will make you laugh . . .

C. Harris: High pressure system over the Arctic – interesting stuff.
My ice candle has a flaw. I didn’t make the hole deep enough. It stayed lit all day but it was relatively calm. At dusk the wind started gusting and blew it out. Now the wind is really going for it so…no candlelight.
Mollypop and Sam. I heard N.Y. was to get 18 inches of snow.
Clarkson: Way to make ’em laugh. Glad it went well.
Melanie: After 50 + years of marriage one starts to grow hair in strange places.

Rio! – Your words of prayer were lovely. You are just a big phoney aren’t you – with all that grumpy tuff act. You are just a sweeet old softie. Slurpy Corgi kisses to you – even from the Dark Side

Dawson – The snow that came up from where Kirby is, is heading on the Melanie’s by way of New York City. We do have some snow for tonight, coming from MagPie’s to the west, but only 3-5 inches.
Melanie is a professional Photoshopper!
B – I hope you studied for your tests tomorrow.

Good night all – its time for tired Corgis to hit the hay. We are just hoping that the predictions for the weather are just a big practical joke by all the tv forecasters, and we don’t have to wake up in the morning and go out into two feet of snow. Heck, we get buried in 10 inches…its tough being Corgi short, even if we do rule the world.
10:13 pm on January 11th, 2011
Tupper!…Get your Corgie self off of me!…grunt! gruffle! .. I just care about Zoe that’s all…sniff!…No need to make me out to be a teary eyed baby faced snuggly wuggly …grunt!…Won’t happen, no not ever…sniff!
Molly!…Do you think the snow from the North will clash with the snow and ice from the South and really become a great big ole blizzard over New England?…yeep!….This doesn’t sound good at all…grunt!…I hope Melanie stays home tomorrow if the roads are really bad….wheeze! …I hate weather.

Lots to worry about this week…..Zoo, Melanie, Queen Bee.
You are all in my prayers.
And what’s up with all that snow!?!?
10:24 pm on January 11th, 2011
Rio – I see on intellicast.com that the two storm systems have met and bacame one system on the coast. The is some pink in there and that means slush, equally bad for driving.
10:33 pm on January 11th, 2011
We will be thinking good thoughts for all of you in need tomorrow. Good night all, sweet dreams and be well.

For cripes sake,
I go to bed early and am off getting to 3 doctors appointments and the blog goes to h*ll. Can’t you people behave for 24 hours???
CHarris, I know how hard it is to lose a friend of 20 years. AbbietheKitty and Alice are my third set of kats since I left home many many years ago. It is just not easy. I know A&A join my in sending their condolences. You have not been here long but one member of the blog, the Fatty Kitty, is on the other side of the rainbow bridge. I am sure he will welcome your friend and teach her the ropes. Assuming he is not napping.
And Zoe! Sheesh! Way to scare the liver out of us. Kat prayers and best wishes from us to Zoe, Dan and Melanie. We hope that all the tests come back that Zoe is well and tough as a nut. We will keep you in our people prayers too.
BStover, We are keeping an eye on you. No funny stuff now, you hear???
Whew…
Just so’s y’all know, things are going fine for me and my 3 kidneys. No Worries. (As if the blog needed one more thing to think about.)
Off to take a few pills.
Hugs to you all

Dawson: you are too funny with your story about your 30 lb ice candle. I can just see you wrestling it over to the snowbank and it being swallowed up. Also, I appreciate your putting Rio in his place with regard to all the time you’d save deleting messages as *he* directed. Good one!
I just know we could be friends in real life in addition to virtual life.

Oh, the joys of the blog family today. As they say ” A burden shared is a burden lightened”.
C – please add our condolences. That kitty sounds like a great “doggy drill sergeant”. Did she spend her entire 18 years in the frozen north?
Corgis – we have a green microfiber couch as well and 4 of the 5 of us like to lick it. Dad ordered new covers and they came today, but it is only a matter of time before Annie chews holes in them so that we can resume licking. As it turns out, the covers are pretty tasty too.
Warm Texas hugs and head bumps to all of our ailing friends.
We wish we could have some of that snow. It is supposed to be down to 14 tonight, which is very unusual for this area. Mom goes to The Big Orange Box before the sun comes up, so she will be wearing her bear suit (that’s what it looks like to me, anyway). She puts on more fur when it is cold. Sure wish I could do that.

Stover!… You are not much for prayers, I can tell, but girl…heh!…You are in me and my friends prayers tonight for your tests tomorrow….yeep!… No escaping that my dear friend. Plus we will have all the other hospitalized folks there amongst you in our prayers…snort!… Dan, Zoe, Melanie, Stover – all of our Top Dogs are in the dog house being poked and prodded …grunt! …Have I forgotten anyone? I hope not! …snort!
A prayer from the Guys on the blog…sniff!
Lord, all of these people are such good friends to us guys, we rely on them for protection, warmth during the winter and food. Most of all we rely on them for their love and compassion towards all of us. They love us as unconditionally as we love them Lord. Please heal all of these wonderful human beings because they cannot be replaced by anyone else on this earth. Thank you Lord for hearing my pug prayer for all the guys on the blog…Amen! …sniffle!
Good Night!…All!…grunt!
PS: Unless things change, you will not see much of me on The Dark Side after this…snort!..It takes way too much of my precious Pug time…wheeze!

Macy the Min-Pin: yes, kitty spent her whole life in the frozen north. She loved being outdoors and every October would get in a cranky mood as it became too cold and snowy to go outside. In her younger years she would go outside this tiny, little cat and come back inside this huge, bionic cat who would fill my arms. She had fluffed out each hair to provide insulation from the sub-zero temperatures.
I adopted her from the pound. She had been found in a cat carrier in a snow bank which was quite a mystery. She actually chose me. I was looking for a calico or tuxedo cat and this orange tabby kept meowing and reaching for me through the cage every time I walked by. All the other cats were in the back of their cages sleeping or ignoring me. She was the most talkative cat I’ve ever known. The house seems so unnaturally quiet now.
