    A re-comment!
Good Morning Rose! I hope our intrepid traveling group is safe on their trip.

TYB’s Father: Had to laugh here about TYB. It is my firm belief that dogs that are highly intelligent have senses of humor. Not always what we want as TYB proved yesterday. It does remind me of a Water Rescue test that I watched. I had seen this Newf in practice do everything PERFECTLY. The day of the test? Nothing. He looked as his friend as she was asking him to do something he had never heard of, didn’t have the slightest clue. The last part of test, the HARDEST part, where the dog and his friend go on a boat, the friend dives into the water, the dog has to stay on board and his friend gives the order to come in and save her. . . I could tell the friend was upset as she sat on the stern of the boat with her Newf. She was sitting hunched over. Her Newf gave her a look and then licked her from chin to the top of her head. She laughed, he wagged his tail and finished the test PERFECTLY.

    Got’a love’m.

TYB: You’ll do fine. I do understand about redheads. Both my guys are redheads.

    10:53 am on December 16th, 2011

Dima here…Tyb, sorry about that test. I’ll bet the same thing would happen to me. I don’t want to brag (much), but everyone knows I’m the fav around here, due to my quiet, laid-back personna. But get me in a room full of strangers, and boy do I have stories I just gotta tell!
And don’t even get me started on redheads…the 2 I live with will be my ruination.

    Good Morning Melanie!
Rebecca: That is information even Luna and Belle Starr both batting their eyelashes at me could not get. Belle even offered to buy me a very expensive, sparkly necklace, but I refused.

Tyb: I love your picture. You are a fine, handsome dog doing important work. Redheads can be distracting. Just look at that stunner, KAT.

Rio: That cake looks beautiful, and yummy. Can your friend lets us know what is inside the cake?

Everyone voted here — mom, dad and grandpa too (he has his own computer and is pretty internet savvy for 92 and a half). He and me were helping mom yesterday too. For the guild Christmas Party, everyone who came was asked to bring food items that could be donated to the local food bank for the holidays, so grandpa and I spent a good part of yesterday packing the stuff into grocery bags. We got nearly twenty bags of stuff too, as well as some very generous cash donations. Mom and a couple of her quilt gals will be dropping the food off at the food bank on Monday.

TYB Sorry about the test, but what is important is you are a wonderful guy. I’m sure no Siber ever passed that test, but we did once save Nome.

Ornament!….I don’t want to brag either….heh!….But I am now the proud owner of a Rockies Ornament. So take that SiberH!….snorkel!… It came in the mail last night and I couldn’t believe it when I saw it!….sniff!sniff! ….She immediately hung it on the little tree. The little tree is way up high in the bay window so no snuffling noses could get at it…grunt! ….As if I would snuffle around enough to knock down ornaments!…sniff! ….When Beau first noticed the tree in the window he just stared at it forever….heh!…I guess he’s never seen a little Christmas tree before….snort!

That is cool!! We both now have matching Rockies ornaments to remind us in this dark winter that baseball will be played again in the spring.

Mom went into our Lowes yesterday. They did not have the Rockies ornament but they did have a Rockies Santa Clause hat that was really plush. Mom didn’t buy it for me because she said it was too big. That is her story and she is sticking to it.
Mom here: (whispering) It was also expensive.

Cake looks delish and congrats on the ornament. I wonder if Beau was trying to figure out how to reach that tree in order to mark it. . .

    Wöökie and Grandpa, good job!

YSAS has not heard anything so probably didn’t get this role. YSAS is coming home on the 23rd.

Dan: Hmm, that’s harder. He is doing great in rehab. They are very careful with that leg. NO weight on it, but they are keeping the muscles of both legs working. He is convinced that he is coming home for Christmas. That is a long shot and one we won’t know more about until he has the x-ray next week. If there is some healing they will continue with what they are doing. If there is significant healing they will begin having him put weight on that leg. If not enough healing it could well mean surgery. We have no idea at this point.

Zoe and I continue to Plunder On. She’s up to seeing Dan today. My sister saw him yesterday. I still have a bad cough and so will wait.

The counter guys come back and finish on Monday. They are sealing the grout and wood part at that point. It looks great.

I called YSAS to ask him about a present we were getting together. He said, “Ah, Mom? We figure that out a few days ago.” Have no memory of that at all. I bleive him (sort of) so I ordered the gift again.

I DO believe him . . . it’s just that I also know he can pull some tricks on me. So I do take what he says with a pound grain of salt.

  24. Siber-H
    11:45 am on December 16th, 2011

Stover; In 1925 it was winter and a deadly outbreak of diphteria
occurred in Nome, Alaska. Planes couldn’t fly in the weather and Norton Sound was iced up, so a team of sled dogs was the only way to get the diphteria serum to Nome. The dogs were Siberian Huskies!! It wasn’t too many years before 1925 that the first Siberian Huskies were brought over to Alaska from Siberia.
There is a statue of the famous lead dog, Balto, in Central Park. The race to save Nome was big news back then.

  27. Siber-H
    11:57 am on December 16th, 2011

Rio, Rebecca can answer that question better than I can, but I think only part of today’s Iditarod Trail follows the 1925 route. The 1925 Race to Nome does inspire today’s Iditarod Race. The Spirit lives on!

They took that diphtheria serum as far as they could by train in 1925 and then the dogs and mushers transpiorted it the rest of the way.

Hi all. Quick update from show land.
We are at the Prudential ( hoity-toity) mall. The mall promised Cultural Survival the world. So far all we have seen is mud pits.
The closest loading dock is almost 1/4 mile away. You have to go outside one mall door and in the other. And they stuck us in a corridor that isn’t used much- no stores here- just a hairdresser and the side entrance to a restaurant.
So we havent seen too many people yet. Everyone keeps hoping for the afterwork crowd and tomorrow’s Saturday crowd.
The mall is being terribly persnickety and they keep changing the rules on us. The CS producer is a very nice man- but he ain’t no fighter. He backs down from every conflict and the mall and the pushy artists are running amok.
Make no mistake – Mama can be a real female dog ( wink) too. But she doesnt take advantage at shows.
So for now she is consoling herself with a pack of sugar free almond cookies.
Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

There may be a mutiny here before too long. That loading dock situation has angered all the artists. It took us 6 trips to bring all our stuff in. And unless we start seeing people it’s gonna take that many to pack out too

Anyone got any cheese to go with our whine?

Tomorrow WILL be better. We just need to stay awake till closing time at 10 tonight.

I can’t understand why the mall chose to place your booths where they are. If you were in a more prominent location, you would certainly be raking in the big bucks. Rose, We look the way we do now because humans have bred us to look like this. They must think we look better with longer legs and slimmer bodies. Two-leggeds are always changing the way dog breeds look.
They have changed the way the GSD looks from a robust, healthy dog to a low-slung in the rear weak dog with medical problems. There is no reason for this except for what is fashionable and trendy.

Sorry it’s taken me so long to answer your question; I’ve been on the road home from work and stopped for a bite. There is no difference between the kinds of visits I make now and what I’d do when certified. The difference lies in the fact that should there be an incident after which some looney wants to sue, I’d be covered by a million dollar insurance policy of Therapy Dog International. Do I think there is a chance of such an incident. Absolutely not. However in 2005 a woman unintentionally injured Blou’s foot while approaching him to scratch his head. He jumped as she was bending over. They collided. Blou didn’t bark, snap, or bite, but in the collision she ended up with a split lip and needed one stitch. It was pure and simply an accident. A couple of days later my dad was notified that he was being sued for $75,000.00 “for introducing a vicious animal into a public place with the full knowledge that he’d be likely to attack.” A perfect example of the kind of frivolous suits people are filing these days. The case was in the court for 2 years before the judge threw it out. The lady got not a penny. I shall continue to make my visits and shall go for the evaluation sometime in the spring.

    OHhhh NOOOooooOOOooo
The Twins really blew it with Cuddyer. Mr.Staff has been telling me more about the trade. Michael wanted to sign an extention last spring and Billy Smith, general manager, blew him off. Then in the middle of the season when all our supposed hot shots were out of the lineup Mike showed how important he was and they wanted him to sign and he wouldn’t.

Mr.Staff says he will be much happier in Colorado and we are sorry to see him go. He can play first base and outfield and is a pretty good hitter. Sob sob sob. Oh well. I doubt the Twins are going to do much next year, pessimist that I am. I might have to root for the Rockies. By the way Nick Punto has moved from the Cardinals to the Red Sox for next season.

Bear, I never put two and two together before…that the barefoot bandit was associated with your island. He is lucky to have lived through those airplane crashes and I hope he gets himself straightened out.

TYB, For crying out loud…2 years and $75,000. Thank dog the judge had some brains.

When they called my dad early in the week and told him that the judge would render his decision probably on Friday, Dad started praying that the judge wouldn’t step in dog poo on his way to court Friday morning. The best part of the story is the fact that the lady turned down offers of three and then seven thousand dollars from the insurance company in hopes of getting her seventy-five, and she ended up without a single penny.
