Barb and Maggie, so very sorry about Lucy. I hope you will find comfort soon.

There were actually a lot of articles and links relating to Bretagne on the internet yesterday. However, one of the best was to a You Tube video about Bretagne’s best day ever, which was her birthday celebration last year. I do have to warn you that some tissues may get used by people viewing the video.

Hmmm – we wrote a post and hit “submit” and whooosh! Like magic it disappeared into cyberspace.

Anyway – Wolfies Maw – Jace is learning early about generosity of spirit. Sounds like he has really good role models.

Jace is a cutie. Hard to believe he is almost 3 already! Glad he has you and Wolfie’s Paw in his life.

Thank you for the support. I think I am still in shock. Lucy went from seeming normal in the morning, to a little under the weather, to dead in less than 12 hours. I know she was getting old, but I guess I expected more of a gradual decline in her health. I keep thinking maybe I should have rushed in to the vet’s, but then I think she probably would have died alone over night, hooked up to an iv. I guess we always wonder if we are making the right decision for our friends. Wish they could tell us which way to go.

I am still pretty mopey – fine one minute and sobbing the next, so I will be back in a few days. Don’t worry about us, we will be fine. And I still feel that I am the one who received the gift of a wonderful companion, just wish it had been longer. Hugs to you all.

    http://nature365.tv/june-8-2016/ I LOVE this one.

Beautiful howling sounds and reflections in the water. It crossed my mind that maybe they were expressing sympathy for all the dog lovers who have lost a friend. It sure sounded meloncholy.

We just caught up from yesterday. Barb and Maggie, we are so sorry about Lucy. Wow, how sudden. Glad you were with her.
We are sure it made her feel more loved and peaceful. And we agree, that was a better way to go than all alone at the vet.

Today would have been Mom and Dad’s 42nd anniversary. She’s feeling pretty mopey too. She may wait to watch the video on the death of the service dog. If she starts crying at work, she has to explain and that would make her cry more.

OK, I passed up the bourbon but I did get a lime, a small bottle of vodka and some tonic. I may regret this, too. Not enough to get wasted, but maybe enough for a mellow evening. Tomorrow, back to normal. Still didn’t tell John about Lucy. Maybe tomorrow I can do it.

I have checked out # 6 Miss Julia, Miss Julia’s School of Beauty. Any one read it yet?

  36. Herd of Hounds

I was beginning to worry the goats had intercepted the package containing “Arf” when it arrived, safe from its international travels. Thank you, Staff and Spencer. And thanks Staff for the Donald Westlake book and the Harry Potter stamps.

    Yeep!
I’ve got to go out in the garden where I hear some roto-tilling going on. The man-who-lives-in-this-house needs total supervision when out in the yard, lest he rip out a flower instead of a weed.

Looks like a real warm stretch for the Pacific coast people. We hounds advise a tub of ice and a fan blowing across it ???? We know we’re going to have a week and a half of whether that will be hotter than snot simply because it is time for Riverbend. We know lots of people will be getting plastered and listening to some really good music! Oh yeah, don’t forget the thunderstorms will some of the bands are trying to play, sheesh.

Making folks laugh? Us? On this here blog? Was it something we said?

B&M: Our vat o’ beer is in the shop. Don’t you just hate that? We are now using our backup vat. When we ordered it we didn’t realize we upgraded for the non-strengthening cocktail model. They have a very strict return policy so we are stuck with it. We will be by with a vat o’ ice cream and a platter of hot wings. Can we interest you in Slim Jims from our personal stash?

Blues Baby!…Maskers, can you play the Blues on that Saxophone of yours?…chuffle!

  47. Thieves!

Rio: It’s true. Our go-to vat is in the shop. It started smoking and sputtering after our last visit. At first, we thought you hitched a ride to the kennel, but nope. It’s hard to say what did it in this time. It could have been that we replaced one of the wheelchairs with it during the last races when said chair gave under the weight of glitter and streamers. Or, it could have been when we over shot the landing in your backyard and landed on a garden gnome. It wasn’t the same after the Storyteller’s green Gatorade—took the finish right off the vat. For some reason—and we are not sure why—the factory warranty is null and void. Go figure.

Storyteller: Hypothetically, if you were to get gooey marshmallows stuck in your braids, how would you go about getting said mallow out of your fur, er, braids? No reason. We are asking for a friend.

  48. Barb, Maggie & Angel Lucy

  55. The Storyteller
    11:24 pm on June 8th, 2016

Bet the Pug kiss would be even better with marshmallows involved.

  56. Thieves!
    11:31 pm on June 8th, 2016

One would think that pug kisses and marshmallows would go together, but right now there is no way to tell. It seems that marshmallows were used to wrap Ole Doc’s tail around in an effort to channel his inner pug. It’s a long tail and many marshmallows were sacrificed in the making of his pug tail. We sent word to Luna that we needed more marshmallows. Our Lady called dibs on the fist bag for a pug-mallow combo. To each their own.

I have started liking dark chocolate with mint. Newman’s version of mint patties is my personal favorite right now. I could go for the dark chocolate with salted peanuts on top too.

Hugs to you both, Barb and BooBear, I think anniversaries are the best and the worst of times.
