Reminder From Long Ago + Vote!
From April 3, 2009:
We were outside this cave, or abandoned mine or whatever it was, somewhere in Death Valley. “There are no supports. Don’t go in there.” But I had to. I smelled a rat, one of those big desert rats. I don’t like them, not one little bit, don’t like their smell, either, which is kind of like mice except more sour, like they’re always eating something rotten.
The next thing I knew, I was deep in the shaft, smelling the rat, and hearing him, too, scurrying on ahead of me. “Chet! Chet!” Bernie shone the light inside. I saw my own shadow, stretched out way ahead. And what was that? Uh-oh. A skull.
Also: These cool German media students have made a book trailer for the German version of Dog On It and it’s a finalist for the fourth annual Bertelsmann Book Trailer Award. You can go to the German website www.derbuchtrailer.de and watch it – and vote for it! Yes, it’s in German which no one at chetthedog understands, but it’s pretty entertaining even without the words.

The trailer is funny…wish I knew what they were saying. I don't really imagine Bernie and Chet looking like that though. Google translated the text into English (not the trailer) but I'm not sure how to cast a vote.

Cute trailer, but B.Stover is right. NOT what Bernie & Chet look like. I picture Bernie as a young Tom Selleck and Chet is, of course, Chet—-big, handome, black with 1 white ear and a long, distinguished nose. A dog who would make the bad guys go "Oh, sh–!!" when they see him. And they should, if they are wearing pants!

Totally agree, the real Bernie and Chet are much cuter and Chet surely doesn't have a goatee. But the video is good. The voting works via the green bar right below the video screen. I don't know german, but it says something like, "click here to vote for film A".

oops, that would be Bernie that doesn't have a goatee…

Dear all,
thanks for watching our trailer! I am the (student) producer/director of the book trailer team and am very happy you show interest in what we did… I also knew it would stirr up more controversy about the how-do-they-look part, however, in Germany the book is only out yet in a very limited edition so it's great to hear the opinions of true fans. If you like the trailer enough to vote for my team, please hit the "Hier fuer Film A abstimmen"-button as Carrie already mentioned.
Cheers from Berlin, beste Gruesse and thanks a lot,
Christina
BTW: This is what the narrator aka Chet says:
"What was my favourite thing to do in the whole wide world? Riding in the Prosche, far and away. Sitting up high, wind pushing my face all out of shape. Speed, rush, sensation. Wasteland smelled good to me, grease and nothing but, all kinds of grease: pizza grease, car grease, french-fry-grease, human hair grease. I was sitting up as tall as I could taking in everything…my nose quivering. We were in a great mood, me and Bernie, on the job – not some horrible divorce case but our specialty, missing persons." (it's a combination of two quotes of Chet concerning drinving in the Porsche, so nothing nasty, in case you were afraid… ; ) )

Wonderful (or should we say Vundebar!!)
I love how the pages of the book become a canyon – I think I voted for it – either that – or I just ordered the buch in German.

Thank you, Christina. I voted. It was a great trailer. My brother lives in Mainz. His daughter's name is Christina. Small, small world.
Thank you!
