Remembrance of Christmas Past
“Time to put up the tree,” Admin says, driving up with it on the roof of his car.
“Right you are,” says Spence.
“What are you laughing at?”
“I’m not laughing.”
“You’re smiling in a laugh-smothering way,” Admin says.
“Sorry,” says Spence.
“You’re thinking about that time, aren’t you?”
“When the tree fell on you, tinsel, angel, and all, and all the kids and dogs came running and the smoke detectors ended up going off? I swear I’m not.”
Welcome Boomer, Kiah.

Yo, where is everybody?
Anyhoo, Zoë’s gone to do the Christmas grocery shopping. Yummers. Carb Newburg!
I’m in charge and hopefully the kitchen counter guys will get here soon. They are finishing up today.
Good luck on the Window Guys Staff!
Riö, I am too nice to say anything about the Patriots’ win. Especially since you were nice enough to say they were the better team.
Bella!!! Safe Journey!
9:12 am on December 19th, 2011
“Carb Newburg”? Where the hell did that come from?
CRAB NEWBURG
9:22 am on December 19th, 2011
Hi Melanie!
I am here at work…(I like ellipses, too!)
Good luck with your kitchen counters.
Rebecca: That was very nice of your boss to gift you an i-Paw. I have never worked for a boss so generous. Safe journey to you. Is Belle Starr pouting about you being gone? She knows that she can always come to New York with Luna.

Good Morning Rose!

“Smiling in a laugh-smothering way”…I like that! I don’t think I’d ever put up another tree after that experience.
Good morning all.
9:41 am on December 19th, 2011
I am waiting for my connecting flight. It is been a long night, yet the nice part was spending time with AJ before I left. Since we wouldn’t be together for the holidays, we treated ourselves to a date. We saw the new Sherlock holmes movie. I really like it.
Rose: Is Belle Starr pouting? Hardly. She is excited to sleep on my side of the bed. I did say goodbye to each of the dogs before I left. One by one, I told each that I was putting them in charge while I’m away. 🙂
9:54 am on December 19th, 2011
Good Morning All!
B: The remark by Spence put a smile on my face too.
Melanie: I was wondering about the “Carb” Newburg. Hope you are feeling better this morning.
Oh Wolfie, that was so sweet. Don’t know why, but it brought a tear to the eye. Thank you for posting it Melanie.
SnowBella is on her way to the lower 48.
Hi to Rose and all those yet to post.
9:59 am on December 19th, 2011
Hi Bear!
B: Are you now “official?” Please check your SDD.
Wolfie: That was so sweet of you to send that video.
10:07 am on December 19th, 2011
Rebecca: I guess Belle sees this as her opportunity to hog up more bed, and snuggle next to AJ!
10:09 am on December 19th, 2011
Thanks for the video, Wolfie. I guess I’m in Wolfie’s corner there. It does tug at the heart strings. It is such a sweet clip that I don’t understand why it’s a bit sad, but it gets me every time I look at it. Maybe it’s because I saw it for the first time right after Blou crossed the bridge two years ago this week.
10:14 am on December 19th, 2011
Oh Bella! A Game of Shadows – Rio is going to be so jealous. Me too. I can’t wait to see it.
Rose: Do you have all your shopping done? We do here (expect for a couple of things…(sigh)
10:15 am on December 19th, 2011
Tyb – I think that’s Buddy up in the Friends of Chet.
10:19 am on December 19th, 2011
Don’t we all have times like Admin’s? Trees falling, being marked, yup, all of that’s happened around here.
The best was when we finished our Christmas dinner and were lounging in front of the fire too stuffed to move.
That’s when Ellie (puppy, then) came prancing into the living room wearing the turkey carcass on her head!

10:25 am on December 19th, 2011
Masquers: All the shopping is done (Fingers crossed…I hope). Doesn’t it always seem as if there are always one or two last minute gifts to buy?
All that is left for me to wrap the Prof’s presents. (sigh)
10:26 am on December 19th, 2011
Funny!…Pretty funny about the tree falling on Admin…heh!heh!…I wonder what kind it was…sniff!
Card!….Well, the American Greeting Card website is down or I would post the 7th Dogs of Christmas…grunt!… It’s going to be one of those days. I can sniff it already…grump!
10:26 am on December 19th, 2011
Dawson:
Someone here said to tell you
a certain package is on the way.
When or where – we cannot say.
If certain ones only knew
It’s arrival would be in jeopardy.
10:29 am on December 19th, 2011
Gads!…Rebecca is still traveling….snort!….It sounds like she’s been up all night long….gasp!….I don’t think I could handle that kind of traveling. It takes too long…wheeze!
10:29 am on December 19th, 2011
Rio: I look forward to your cards. I just checked the website from desk. Seems to be fine.
10:31 am on December 19th, 2011
Package!….Dawson still hasn’t gotten the little box within a box…grump!….What the hell!? I wonder if it will get there before 2012 does….sniff!
10:32 am on December 19th, 2011
Seventh!…Okay, well see if you can view this card…snort!…I sure as hell can’t…grump!

Rio – I got the card. Love it!
10:37 am on December 19th, 2011
Rio: I always plan for a full day of travel when going outside of Alaska. By the time I get to where I’m going, I will have been on the road for over 16 hours. I’m lucky though—charris travels to KY.
10:47 am on December 19th, 2011
Rio: Got it! LOL!
10:55 am on December 19th, 2011
I’m going in to school to finish clearing my office. I’ll be getting final exams from students online. After that I’ll be retired.
Rose: I opened the card–love it! I sent you an email message.
10:57 am on December 19th, 2011
Rio: I like this card the best so far. Backstroke with flippers!
11:02 am on December 19th, 2011
Grump!…For some reason I cannot get the card to play or their website to load…grump! …One of those DAYS!…grumble!
11:12 am on December 19th, 2011
Rio,
I got your card. Each day gets better. Thanks.
11:13 am on December 19th, 2011
B: Got it. I’m so glad you enjoyed the card!!!
11:26 am on December 19th, 2011
Got the 7th card Rio. Love it!
11:33 am on December 19th, 2011
My Christmas wish is coming true! It is snowing like the blazes here and mom got me to the dog park.
Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
Rio’s Christmas card worked for me and Wolfie’s video. Thanks Guys!
Melanie, Do you have a photo of Ellie with the turkey carcass on her head? That is another super clever feat of counter surfing.
12:17 pm on December 19th, 2011
Siber-H: Can you send some snow this way. After a chilly start today and tomorrow, temps are going back into the 50’s. This isn’t Christmas!!!! 🙁
12:21 pm on December 19th, 2011
Rose!…If SiberH sends you Snow will you send me 50 degree weather?….snort!….Beau and I are tired of freezing our kibbles off every time we need to go outside….shudder!
12:24 pm on December 19th, 2011
Too bad Ellie’s surfing adventure happened in the days before the big contest, or she’d be in the running for sure!
Melanie: (whispering) you folks do have some unusual occurrences happening at your house.
12:30 pm on December 19th, 2011
Hello Plunderers! It is a little colder here finally. Last night was our annual Christmas in the Valley event where everyone carols thru the village. There are lots of post-caroling holiday parties afterwords. So its starting to maybe feel more like Christmas.
Today is Mom’s last day at the office, and Kat’s last day at her kamp, with her little friend Hailey. Then it is PAR-TEE time here on the farm! Our Sibe friend Cherokee is even coming to visit us later this week. Woo Hooo!
Mom told us that Winter Solstice occurs Wednesday night. She always insists that we all join up out in the fields, to welcome the return of light with a big Howlfest. This will be Kat’s first time…wonder what she will think of our Solstice party.
12:32 pm on December 19th, 2011
O.Howlers! Bear will be joining you on Wednesday night!
12:34 pm on December 19th, 2011
Bear, that will be great!! Start tuning up the old howling chords!
12:42 pm on December 19th, 2011
The Pack will be howling harmonically on Wednesday!
Riö, love the card.
TYB’s Dad, I understand.
Zoë? Well, trying to get her to STOP is not easy. She’s stopped now. In fact, she couldn’t even drive all the way home. Thank goodness for cell phones. I went and got her and a neighbor will be giving me a ride back up to the other car so I can bring it home.
She’s really sick now. I am not going to tell her I told you so, but I’m saying it here so I don’t have to!! I told her so!
12:46 pm on December 19th, 2011
Oley Howlers: Trigger would like to join in the festivities also.
Ellie: You have my utmost respect and admiration. High Four!
12:59 pm on December 19th, 2011
Rose, For you, I will try to share and send you some snow.
Fellow Sibers? What time is the great howlfest on Winter Solstice? I want to join in, but I don’t stay up late.
WOO WOO! It is still snowing!
1:06 pm on December 19th, 2011
We haven’t heard from the Royals’ Mum so I hope this is good news…maybe she was really busy selling art.
Melanie, tell Zoe that all of us are worried about her and she needs to DO NOTHING until she feels better.
1:07 pm on December 19th, 2011
We are unable to view Wolfie’s video or Rio’s card on our iPaw.
Winter Solstice is actually on Thursday at 5:30 GMT which equates to half-past midnight Thursday morning. Mom says our celebration will begin shortly after sunset on Wednesday, as that begins the longest night for those of us in the northern hemisphere. It will be the longest day for those in the Southern hemisphere.
1:07 pm on December 19th, 2011
Why, thank you Siber….
And for Rio, abundant sunshine, blue skies, and high puffy clouds!
1:08 pm on December 19th, 2011
Snow!….SiberH! I think they expect you to get at least a foot of snow today…grunt!… It better not even think about crossing the border….grumble!
1:12 pm on December 19th, 2011
Siber-H – Stop hogging all the snow! That’s no fair. It’s raining here.
1:17 pm on December 19th, 2011
Rio and Siber, We heard on our morning news that ABQ might get 15″ of snow. That should make you guys happy.
Barb is making more cookies. Jeeze Louise, as Melanie says. Hope you get Zoe in bed and make her stay there!
1:17 pm on December 19th, 2011
I think all this conflicting talk about snow seems like a job for WaetherKat!
Before I forget, a question for OH’s and/or Siber.
Yesterday, the Prof and I went into PetSmart to look at the dogs getting wonder fluffed, and the kitties waiting for forever homes. We ran into (or he ran into us), a puppy who might have been a Sibe, but we weren’t sure, as he was mostly white, with a little brown and gray sprinkled at his lower back and rear legs. Nobody bothered with his eye make-up. We should have asked his dad, but it looked like he had his hands full. Could he have been another breed, or do youse guys think Sibe?
OHs: Hope the lovely Kat enjoys her first solstice howl!
1:19 pm on December 19th, 2011
As for wonder fluffing, there was a pug there who DEFINITELY was not enjoying the spa treatment….
1:22 pm on December 19th, 2011
I’m Waiting! A Foot, 15 inches!! Bring it On!
Fellow Sibers, Just after sunset here sounds like a good time to me. I decided I don’t have to be exact.
I don’t know what the weather is doing where Rebecca is suppose to land.
1:24 pm on December 19th, 2011
Spa!…No self respecting Pug would enjoy a day at the spa…grunt!
1:30 pm on December 19th, 2011
Rose, the puppy could have been a Sibe, especially since you said the guy had his hands full. tee hee
We can be a lot of different colors, sometimes with no eye makeup I know the gene for a white Sibe is recessive. Molly’s non-biological sister is a white Sibe with some brown dusting on her lower back and she has blue eyes…a very pretty girl.
1:34 pm on December 19th, 2011
Here’s adorable Cousin Emma.
1:37 pm on December 19th, 2011
Once again – here she is. Adorable Cousin Emma.

1:38 pm on December 19th, 2011
MMCS!….Wow! It looks like all the Great Gifts have SOLD!SOLD!SOLD! on the MMCS….heh!….Also, 5 or more of Jays photographs have been sold! Everything Golinka made is gone gone gone! too…snort!….This is great news! But remember if you have anything you want to donate to the store do not hesitate! The Last Great Race is right around the corner and coming at us quickly…heh!
1:40 pm on December 19th, 2011
Emma!…Are you sure she is not my long lost sister?…sniff!sniff!
1:44 pm on December 19th, 2011
Rose, we echo our Sibe buddy. Siberians come in lots of colors, including white. Our past brother Misha, who was black and white, had an all-white dad. So perhaps the puppy you saw was indeed one of us. Altho if he was, his dad would have been walking a well-behaved, very calm guy. (howling laughter here)
This solstice is going to be awesome, as the members of the Nation will be ringing it in with howlfests from coast to coast! What a fantastic way to welcome winter, as well as the start of longer days. AWOOOOO!
1:50 pm on December 19th, 2011
Thank you, OH and SiberH. You guys are too funny!
Oh, and Siber, this guy was barking a lot. I know you’ve said you are a sibe of few barks…
1:51 pm on December 19th, 2011
That is great news…Everything has sold!
Emma is cute and she does look like Rio.
The snow is gertting pretty serious. We just lost Direct tv because the dish is filled up with snow. We could lose power and go off the grid but not to worry because we are prepared…just no internet, sob.
1:57 pm on December 19th, 2011
Rose, we Sibes don’t normally block. It’s just not in our DNA.
2:04 pm on December 19th, 2011
I agree with the Howlers
2:13 pm on December 19th, 2011
Uh.. That was bark not block. Can we blame it on the iPaw?
2:18 pm on December 19th, 2011
Sure…I maybe thought you meant “Yark”, since that was a sound Siber made a day or two ago on the blog. This pup was definitely yarking…I really knew you meant “bark” though.
2:21 pm on December 19th, 2011
Rose, Was the pup yarking or barking? Some Sibes yark a lot more than I do.
2:41 pm on December 19th, 2011
Sounded more like a “yark”.
2:47 pm on December 19th, 2011
Buddy: Looks like there will be quite the gathering on Wednesday night! (whispering) Since both of us hang out with dawgs, do you think there is any chance you and I can join in? We could add some hearty yowls to the howls. What about TC?
2:48 pm on December 19th, 2011
Emma may look like Rio, but she’s very well-behaved.
3:11 pm on December 19th, 2011
Low-blow!….Mollys Mom, you are starting to sound a lot like Agent Molly…grunt!…I behave just fine thank you very much. It’s not my fault that Beau runs into stuff when we are rough-housing causing her mother to connip…heh!…It’s not my fault he gets so mad at me he starts to scream as only a Pug can scream…heh!heh!…I especially enjoy that part….chorkel!
3:26 pm on December 19th, 2011
Rose, Could have been a Siber puppy then.
3:31 pm on December 19th, 2011
My sister is coming to the rescue! She’s bringing ginger ale.
I am a wonderful person. Just before Zoë called to tell me she couldn’t drive any further, I had figured out how to take the Audiobook that we bought by mistake (The Dog Who, Zoe thought she was getting CDs) and putting it on her Kindle.
She is upstairs dozing in-between trips down the hall and sistening to TDWKTM. She says she might survive.
3:37 pm on December 19th, 2011
Winter Solstice…the return of light. I like that. Sounds as though the Howlers will be having fun Wednesday.
I’ve cleared out my office. I just have to grade finals…tomorrow. Then I’m done.
No snow here but it’s getting colder.
3:40 pm on December 19th, 2011
I hope Zoe starts to feel better.
You are a wonderful person Melanie.
3:48 pm on December 19th, 2011
Solstice!
I love the Winter Solstice. I look forward to it for 3 months! I will be howling, yarking, barking and WhoooooHooooooing on Wednesday night.
Siber H: You are gonna get 12 to 15 inches of snow? The world has gone upside down and backwards. Here in the North we have very little snow and it’s what we call “T-shirt weather” (25 degrees F).
I am resting up after a busy week at work. I am not fully recovered from my illness and would still be calling in sick but half the staph are walking wounded and working sick. At least I wear a mask (Staff taught me that). Sorry about the lousy pun.
3:56 pm on December 19th, 2011
Dawson, I don’t really believe we will get that much snow, but, yes, the weather is upside down. That is a good way of putting it.
3:58 pm on December 19th, 2011
Melanie: You are a wonderful person and a very clever one too. Now the The Dog Who audio will not only be burned to cds for OTAS, but has been downloaded to Kindle for Zoe. Speaking of which…tell Zoe to start taking it easy. I know she’s worried about Dan, but she needs to take care of herself to be there for him.
B: Almost there – to your easy chair!
MollyPop’s Mom: Emma looks very sweet.
Siber-H: Enjoy your SNOW!!!
4:03 pm on December 19th, 2011
Hey! Dawson. The you know what is on its way to the you know where.
4:17 pm on December 19th, 2011
Mollypop’s Mom: Is Emma also a cousin to Sam?
4:24 pm on December 19th, 2011
Okay, get ready for the shivers down your back! The Piano Guys have come out with “Where is Christmas”. Beautifully played by by the piano and cello, but then the piano dude’s daughter sings. Sniff . . .

Bear – I want to order some coffee beans from Camano Islands. What do you suggest?
4:47 pm on December 19th, 2011
BearSpiritDog: I will look for the you know what, I know where and you know how but I don’t know when. Got it?
4:50 pm on December 19th, 2011
B. – Yes, Emma is Sam’s cousin. We always called the dogs cousins even though Molly was one generation up. It would be too confusing to do it any other way.
Rio – Did you notice that Bear said Emma was sweet?
5:13 pm on December 19th, 2011
Sweet!….Looks can be deceiving…grunt!…Emma might look sweet, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a screaming mimi! …heh!
5:24 pm on December 19th, 2011
Emma does remind me of Rio.
Bear, We finished 11-22 today. It was an excellent (whispering so Bee doesn’t hear) read. It took Barb close to two weeks to read it, but that was with 4 work days thrown in, so actually 10 reading days. Now she is in withdrawal because it is done.
5:40 pm on December 19th, 2011
MagPie – I’m about half way through 11-22-63. It’s a very good book. I had too much going on this weekend to be able to have time to read. I had time today and thoroughly enjoyed it.
5:42 pm on December 19th, 2011
Rio – Emma gives me the sweetest look that just melts my heart.

Well! My comment to MollyPop’s Mom is AWAITING MODERATION. sniff. This is quite unacceptable. Hmm…I did mention a certain t-r-a-c-k with running of four-leggeds…..

Melt!…Beau and I could melt your heart with our breath…heh!heh!

The Moderator does seem to frown on any mention of g-a-m-b-l-i-n-g as he feels we will certainly be led astray.
Let me begin anew.

Mollypop’s Mom: I’ve been trying to post a link to a skiing video for you but my technoidiocy will not allow it. If you go to tyee.ca and click down one page, on your right you will see their video picks. “Street skiing in Trail BC” is the future of skiing. It’s worth seeing.
6:40 pm on December 19th, 2011
Dawson – That web site is a building supply company. Anyway, I googled it and the real web site came up – thetyee.ca. The video is great and I liked the sparks flying from the ski edges on the concrete.

6:45 pm on December 19th, 2011
Masquers, did you actually ask if I would hang out with dogs and (shudder) attend their Howlfest???? No how No way!! Buddy is the dude who thinks he is one of those Howlers,
…never me!
6:53 pm on December 19th, 2011
Have a lovely and relaxing vacation Howlers.
Sounds to me as though Mollypop’s mom is going to get a pug.
7:02 pm on December 19th, 2011

Please send pictures!!!

T.C.: Good to hear from you! Heh, heh I was just trying to get your attention. What have you been up to?
7:32 pm on December 19th, 2011
I just realized the link didn’t show up. Oh, well MollyPop’s Mom is a smart gal – she’ll know what to do. (whispering) the moderator is now rejecting links? That stinks!
7:48 pm on December 19th, 2011
Have a great vacation OleyHowlers! Mom and Kat home. You should all have a great time.
I’m watching “Sherlock” again. They have got the new episodes done and they will come out next year!
Dr. Watson will be (or already doing so) filming as Bilbo in “the Hobbit”.
8:03 pm on December 19th, 2011
100!….Maybe I will be #100 when I post this…heh!… Everybody is grumpy tonight, except Beau, he is oblivious…sniff!… My friend has all her stuff downstairs to work on the quilling projects and Christmas presents and that’s where we watch TV and where I visit this here blog. She says she can tell that her mother has gone through everything….grunt!…Probably looking for her present. It makes my friend mad that she can’t give her just this one space in the house where she doesn’t go and snoop through all her stuff…wuffle!…So everyone is grumpy tonight…sniff!
Rebecca!….Has anyone heard if Rebecca landed at her parents house okay?…sniff! …It seemed like she was traveling for a really long time – I hope she made it to wherever she was going okay….wuffle!
8:09 pm on December 19th, 2011
We received a very nice surprise today, too. Thanks a bunch, MMC.

Hi Buddy the Boxer, I saw you on the poster but I don’t think any of you are nitwits. Oh, wait . . . it’s Knitwits . . . never mind.
I’m headed upstairs to sleep. Ellie is NOT pleased. She likes to sleep near Zoë and NO dog is able to do that to night.
So TTFN

At last! After two delays, I arrived at my parent’s house about an hour ago. Boy, does it feel good to have some peace and quiet.
Buddy: Welcome!

Hey, Fellow Budster! I’m a Buddy too…and a Plunderer (because I hang out with the gang on this blog). Welcome aboard…never can have too many Buddy’s!
9:36 pm on December 19th, 2011
I wonder:
How Siber is doing…has he lost power.
Where is Bella in her travels.
Why do we have a blog moderator.
When will Dawson’s packages arrive.
9:36 pm on December 19th, 2011
Traveling!….Geeze Rebeccer!…snort!…You’ve been “traveling” for 24 hours. You should be in England or France by now…grunt!…Was the weather bad where you traveled to? Is that why there were multiple delays….sniff!…You must be sooo freakin’ tired…gasp!
9:37 pm on December 19th, 2011
Ask a question and it shall be answered!
9:40 pm on December 19th, 2011
Maskers!,,,,Or Bear as the case maybe…sniff!….If you would take a few seconds to “Refresh” the page before you post all your silly questions, then you wouldn’t have to post anything at all…grunt!
9:44 pm on December 19th, 2011
SiberH!….How much snow did you end up getting?…snort!… I thought it was going to snow here but it did not thank goodness….wooooo!….No telling what tomorrow morning will look like though…huffle!
9:44 pm on December 19th, 2011
Guess what. Two surprises in the mail today. First was the anxiously awaited Robbie Forester ARC from Barb and Maggie. Thanks, it will go to the very top of the “To Read” list prontito. I think it goes next to Bear and Masquers, but please confirm. And a very special, wonderful surprise from MMC. What a great day. Wookie
P.S. A special tail wag welcome to Buddy. To go along with your forever home, you now have your forever blog as well.
9:49 pm on December 19th, 2011
Rio, It snowed all day, but only about 4 inches stuck to the ground. That is probably a good thing because it is that wet snow that brings down trees and power lines.
Glad Rebecca has safely landed and is at her folks house.
Hope the Royals’ Mum is okay.

A cool discussion on NPR this morning on our drive to the Plaza. Discussing great children’s books this season. One such book being The Cheshire Cheese Cat – A Dickens of a Tale: Skilly, an alley cat with an embarrassing secret longs to escape his hard life and trade in his damp alley for the warmth of The Cheshire Cheese Inn. ‘He was the best of toms. He was the worst of toms.’ Someone asks Dickens if something will take place. His reply: “I have Great Expectations.”
9:59 pm on December 19th, 2011
Those are not questions I would ask nor need the answers to. sniff.
10:04 pm on December 19th, 2011
SiberH!….Four lousy inches?…grunt! ….That’s all you got? Hell, we got 3 times that much in the first damned snow back in October….grumble! sneeze!
Expectations!….heh!snort!heh!….Bear, that does sound like an interesting discussion and an interesting book….sniff!….We will have to be on the lookout for that one!
10:06 pm on December 19th, 2011
Wookie: Yes! Bear is next on the list.
We are going to watch an old Sherlock Holmes movie, in black and white, starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.
10:10 pm on December 19th, 2011
I know, Rio…I am always jealous of the snow you get. The 4 lousy inches was enough snow that the post office decided they couldn’t deliver our mail today, sigh.
For the Royals’ Mum: Grants, NM, got over 14 inches.
10:11 pm on December 19th, 2011
Snow!….Speaking of snow…grumble!…. We were watching the Bronco’s game yesterday and they panned out and showed the stadium and the surrounding parking lots and such….grunt!… NO SNOW! There was NO SNOW anywhere to be seen…choke!….My friend says the parking lot at the busy place still has snow drifts in it EVERYWHERE!!….grump!….Whats up with that crap anyways? We did hear that South of Denver was getting hit with snow tonight….heh!heh!….Good. Dammit! They can have some of the blasted stupid snow misery too…snuff!
10:14 pm on December 19th, 2011
Whew, what a day.
I got up at 7:30 so I would be conscious when the window guys came. (Sometime between 8 and 9.) I waited and waited. So just after 9 I called the office and they said that they had lost the paperwork but the window guys were now on their way. They told me that they had called. An obvious lie. Why do people do that???? It just riles me up. I told her that they had not called. She said that she doesn’t know if they call or not as they are from another office. Ah hum. See, a lie!
So anyway they got there within the next 15 minutes and were wonderful at doing everything neatly and adding some extra insulation where the guy who remodeled in 1960 had decided not to bother….the windows look great and they were done by 11:30. Then I got lunch ready and after that I had a nice long nap.
It does not look like Christmas here. There is no snow left except in little patches on the shadowed side of the house. It looks like early November or late March. I can’t get into the Christmas Spirit. (((sigh)))) It just seems wrong.
10:25 pm on December 19th, 2011
Spirit!….All I need to be in the Christmas Spirit are my presents under the tree and a Honey Baked Ham and a Prime Rib in the oven….gurgle!….That’s all I need, really…sniff! …Snow is not necessary…EVER!…grunt!
10:27 pm on December 19th, 2011
Wookie, I am glad the book arrived, but boy, that took a long time. I think we mailed it last Tuesday. Did it arrive in good condition?
10:36 pm on December 19th, 2011
Staff: I’m glad the lying window guys are now done. Did you put all the kitchen stuff back in their proper places?
I’m pretty much bah! and humbug! But I will have to have a little Spirit on the 25th because I will be at work.
10:40 pm on December 19th, 2011
Prime Rib!
There is a prime rib in the fridge waiting for tomorrow.
I did not check the mail today. Today was a day of rest.
10:41 pm on December 19th, 2011
Our mail just arrived at 8:30 my time!
MMM, Thank you for the surprise and thank you Spence for doing it. MMC went to a lot of trouble to do this and we appreciate it. That is a beautiful photo!
10:43 pm on December 19th, 2011
NO I haven’t put anything back. First I have to reinstall the shelf across the window. I like it so much without the shelf up, but there is no light there at night without it.
Then I can hang everything back up.
Sigh again.
Maybe I should do that now…heck NO. It is almost 10:00. That is no time to start to finish a project. Snicker. Maybe tomorrow. I did get the clean clothes put away.
Rio, We are going to have prime rib on Christmas also. I have never cooked it before. Suggestions? Long slow heat? Fast heat first then slow? Anyone?
10:45 pm on December 19th, 2011
GoodNight!…snort!….We’ve had it…grunt!…Beau is already in bed, that snoring machine!…heh!
10:57 pm on December 19th, 2011
We are having prime rib also. As Staff mentioned, any suggestions about how to cook it would be appreciated.
We are turning in. The snow should still be there in the morning to have a good romp in at the dog park.
night all
11:12 pm on December 19th, 2011
We are signing off, too, but first forgot to say welcome to Buddy.
11:24 pm on December 19th, 2011
Mr.Husky,
I found this on chowhound.
http://www.chow.com/recipes/30234-slow-roasted-prime-rib-au-jus
I think I will do what they say.
11:25 pm on December 19th, 2011
We are the renegades on Christmas lunch. Since only 2 of 8 of us have jobs, we are going with Taco salad. Cheap, but we all like it. Plus, we have to have room for the 50 dozen cookies Grandmother made. (ok, that might be a little exaggeration, but not much) We like to play games, so nothing will change there. I still have my good plunderer friends to check in with, so “God Bless Us, Everyone”.
11:26 pm on December 19th, 2011
thanks for the blessings, Macy’s Mom.
We can always use a good blessing or two.
Night night Plunderers.
11:30 pm on December 19th, 2011
Oh, and welcome Buddy.
Welcome to Texas weather at Christmas! I have had one white Christmas in my life. All the stories, movies, books, cards, etc. have always made me feel like our Christmases were inferior. Happy Snow to all who have it. I think it is bed time, I am becoming a Grinch.
nitey, nite
12:48 am on December 20th, 2011
we are going to say good morning since we are pretty sure everyone is in bed for the night.
The Royal Mum is conpletely and totally exhausted, overwhelmed and mentally fried. Other than that … just fine.
Long show, long pack out, long drive home and then today was back to CLL. Yay!
Today’s “how dumb can a CL be?” story:
CL had an open house to get new members
CL got 15 new members
Each new member requires a MINIMUM of 4 appointments with each one taking a half to a full hour.
15 new members means at least 60 new appointments in the subsequent 2 weeks.
The club is open 5 1/2 days a week
This means that for the next 2 weeks we will average about 11 appointments a day
We usually average 3 appointments a day
CL “never thought about that” and has not made any arrangements for extra staffing for the next two weeks.
AND CLwill be “unavailable to help” all of next week as she has holiday plans.
Where in h e l l is that freakin lottery ticket?
Anyway – Welcome Buddy!
Bella – hugs to your family. Have a lovely Christmas with them. Them go home and unwrap your Giant. tee hee
Dawson and Rose – Mama will be in touch soon…promise.
And now to bed- perchance to dream…
5:38 am on December 20th, 2011
I am up and not dreaming. Sigh . . .
Ellie does NOT like Zoe being sick.
Since Zoe gets up at 5 am, Ellie decided to let her know she was late and she hadn’t been around yesterday so Ellie started barking at 4:45 am.
So I’m downstairs now, I don’t usually wake up until after 7 am. Ellie has gone back to sleep . . . Yup, that dog is set in her ways!
6:19 am on December 20th, 2011
Good Morning, Melanie! We are always up early…even on vacation!
8:11 am on December 20th, 2011
We have an early morning appointment so we are up too.
Good Morning Melanie and O.Howlers!
Where are Spence and Admin? Chet?
