Red Sox Nation

“How’re things in R.S. Nation?” Spence says.

Admin glares at him. “Let’s put it this way. Last night – although it was actually an afternoon game – they lost in seventeen innings to Baltimore and the winning pitcher was the DH, who went oh-for-eight at the plate with five strikeouts.”

“We’re talking nadirville?”

“Even worse. The Red Sox also ended with a position player on the mound. The last time that happened was the last game of the season in 1925 with Ty Cobb pitching for the Tigers and George Sisler for the St. Louis Browns.”

“Fun fact!”

Admin says something that won’t be repeated here.

    Good Morning B!

    Greetings All!

In keeping with the baseball theme of today’s post, the Yankees pummelled KC yesterday, 10-3! WhoooooHooooo!

Sox!…I knew those guys were in trouble, but I had no idea how much until now…snort!…It might be a very long season for Admin. Although, last year the Sox started out really poorly and turned it around…heh!…But a position player on the mound?? Never even imagined that could happen…wow!

MLB!…”In a marathon six-hour, 17-inning game on Sunday that featured both teams sending its designated hitter to pitch, it was the Orioles — behind the stealth throwing of infielder Chris Davis — who persevered for a 9-6 win and series sweep of the Red Sox in front of a sellout crowd at Fenway Park.

With the win, the Orioles swept the Red Sox in Boston for the first time since June 10-12, 1994.”…heh!heh!

I’m with Bee. Tell me something interesting or understandable.

Our realtor appointment was canceled this morning, due to rain.
Rescheduled for Wednesday. After Barb frantically mowed the lawn yesterday to get rid of the billions of dandelion heads!

Poor admin. It’s looking as though it’s going to be a long season. I’m curious how a manager in a situation like that even figures out which position player to have pitch. Is it flipping a coin or rock, scissors, paper? Wookie

  10. B.Stover
    10:06 am on May 7th, 2012

I know they couldn’t use the pitchers who are scheduled to pitch upcoming games. I’m assuming that to send in designated hitters as pitchers describes a desperate situation.

    Oh! BASEBALL again!

I would have liked to have seen the ending to the Red Sox game last night since it hasn’t happened since 1925. Baseball has such a rich history.
The Rockies have only won one more game than the Red Sox so far this year. The Rangers have started losing some games. GAH GAH GAH

The Rockies game does not start until 8:pm tonight. What is this world coming to?

What the heck is “nadirville”? I googled it and couldn’t understand a word.

Okay, I’m in bulldoser mode! Docs aren’t talking to each other! We have calls into them all! They took Dan off the stuff that was helping with the hallucinations and the GI doc didn’t know why . . . woof, woof, grrrrrrr!

Then the undergarment that I bought and had shipped SPECIFICALLY EXPRESS MAIL for the wedding was shipped so it arrives when I’m in NEW JERSEY! Another call!! They are sending me another one. In time. No charge. Snort!

Michael McGarrity has a new book. Hard Country, coming out Thursday. It is his first western and tells the story of Kevin Kerney’s ancestors coming to NM. The reviewers are already comparing it to classics like Lonesome Dove and The Big Sky. (my favorite)
The plan is for this story to be a trilogy.

SiberH — Thank you very much for that. It has been quite a while since the last Kevin Kerney book came out and I was wondering if McGarrity had retired from writing or what. My dad and I have enjoyed the Kerney series a lot (we started reading it pretty much from the beginning), even grandpa is now reading some of the earlier ones. Good morning all.

We are now in Green River, Utah.

Best Friends was amazingly wonderful. The highlight of my visit was petting Ellen. She is a Vicktory Dog, one of Michael Vicksburg bait dogs who has been rehabilitated. Two weeks ago, the courts lifted a ban that prevented her from being petted by visitors, and she is a love.

But it saddens me that it took the courts years to drop the ban.

All of youse BB whiners: we are right there with you. Our Phils are in the cellar of our division. Then again, the cellar in the NL East is higher than most of the other teams. Tonight, we have a chance to beat the “other” NY team to get ahead of them in the NL East.

Keeping on the subject of today’s post:

Fellow Sibers, One of your pitchers, Cole Hamel, deliberately hit a rookie batter at the plate. He admits he did it on purpose. When you read his reason for doing it, it starts to get a bit funny, but mom told me I shouldn’t laugh.

and yet…Seattle had a super view of Siber’s Wolf Moon…at least according to the photos they posted the next day. Sometimes, though, if you happen to read the small print you will see the photo was from some other viewing.
Mom is complaining of a pulled muscle in her arm. That means we have to get off the computer for the night. Lots of whining going on around here…very distracting.
    Talk to youse tomorrow then.
    Go Rockies!!!

Well we are at the parents house here and I have just seen my sister, A Catty Librarian, and her trained kat Elliot. Elliot gave her a 15 minute back massage on request! It was the most amazing thing ever and I wonder if all this staffing of Abbie and Alice M. is really the wrong way for things to be.
I need to let Alice and Abbie know that there are going to be some changes in the management soon. They are safe until I get home though. Can’t do it long distance. They will have to continue being waited on hand and foot for a while.
