Reader Ideas

Suppose you were a reader of the Chet and Bernie series -like Laura R – for example – and therefore knew that C&B have a whole self-storage crammed with Hawaiian pants that didn’t sell, and then on a trip to Hawaii you saw these pillows. Would you say aha! And pass on this very useful idea to a writer who loves useful ideas? I hope so!

Hat tip to Laura R. Great idea!

Weather report: Beautiful sunny day. Due to a record snow year we still have 2 feet on the ground but it’s melting fast.

I say cut the pants legs and make summer shorts out of them.

I have Alaska pillowcases I sometimes use for guests–including a northern lights set I won in a Snowhook auction years ago (made by our SnowBella).

Sunny day and I need to be productive. My housekeeping is at critical mass…BBL

All sorts of things. Pillows, oven mitts, pot holders, handle sleeves, Covid masks and headbands.

Cutting them off for shorts is the easiest as you could sell the shorts to surfers and skateboarders, plus keep the cut off bottom legs and make pillows and other things.

I quilt (as many here do) and of course I could use those pant bottoms, cut them up and piece them into quilts.

I saw a tropical shirt and shorts set, vintage from the 70s, going for $275 online.

If Gucci can make tropical print silk cargo shorts, Bernie can certainly find a way to unload those Hawaiian pants.

But like I said, Bernie never seems to catch a break. So when he makes a deal and finally goes to his storage locker it will be something. Mice will have chewed them up to make nests, there will be a leak and the rain will have soaked them and they got moldy, the locker will be empty and the pants stolen, there will be something. Perhaps if he never even opened any of the boxes to check on them, he will have found them full of sand and there were no pants to begin with.

    Back to the tin mines.
