Random Amazon Review We Like
It has a lot of imagination and that is what counts. Quinn is a wonderful writer with very good grammar. – Lorenzo Razo on Thereby Hangs A Tail.
“Where does this fabled grammar of yours come from?” Admin says.
“A series of fearsome English teachers in my childhood,” Spence says. “We used to parse sentences until there was blood on the page. I have a feeling that doesn’t happen much anymore. How about I tell you about using real ink and the challenge that presents to a lefty?”
“I think we’ve gone far enough down memory lane.”
Welcome Rex.
“Which is king in Latin,” Spence says. “Did I mention Latin grammar? There were years and – “
“Stop.”

“…fearsome English teachers….” Are there any other kind?
Good morning all.

What’s wrong with grammar? Gooood morning, everyone! Have a thunderstruck Thursday.

Greetings!
Have a good day, HOH and Sharon! Stay cool!
HRH B, Where are your travels taking you and Charlie today. Wherever in the worlld you may be, enjoy!

Hey, Rose, cool back at ya! Summer with a vengeance! At least this summer waited for July to begin here, not March like last 2 years š
9:09 am on July 18th, 2013
Hey – Mama is a lefty too. However, grammatically challenged as she is, that is probably her only commonality with OFA.
Well, then again, they both love the ocean and the Southwest and Chet and Bernie. And they will both be in Falmouth this weekend.
Wonder how OFA feels about stuffed quahogs.
9:33 am on July 18th, 2013
Good morning! Mom had to mow grass last evening. She was hot; we were annoyed.
Today is supposed to be even hotter than it has been. The heat index will be ~105 according to the weather dudes. It will never get that bad on lur farm, thank Dog.
9:44 am on July 18th, 2013
Good morning all. So therefore, does that make Spence a grammatician or a grammarian?
Guess who is left handed at this house! Yup, Barb is a lefty. Wonder how many of us are.
Very hot here too. Tomorrow may be the worst then we will get some relief. Staying inside most of the day where we have it a comfy 76.
Barb said she would love to try those quahogs.
10:34 am on July 18th, 2013
What is a grammatician?
10:36 am on July 18th, 2013
A noun describing a person who studies grammar.
10:55 am on July 18th, 2013
Grammatician – a specialist who buries you with syntax, structure and correct usage of the word “read”

I love the sentence, “We used to parse sentences until there was blood on the page.” Blood is no longer allowed, parsing is optional.
“Oppresive” heat today, according to the weatherwoman, and I concur. I’d stay inside but Dad has an appointment at 12:30 – in the heat of the day.
11:27 am on July 18th, 2013
Pop is a lefty.
11:54 am on July 18th, 2013
I wonder how Spence writes his “Rs.” My sister and I are two years apart and she writes her’s the old fashioned way whereas I learned the modern way. Also, he must not have been old enough to be in the era where teachers tried to make lefties write right-handed.
HRH B should play the Where in the World are B & C game. Give us clues and we will guess. This blog can improve both our grammar and our geographic knowledge.
Off to Anchorage again. I have timed it right: the weather here is going through a cool spell (it is to be in the 50s on Saturday) but Anchorage should be in the 70s for a few days. Vet prescribed Xanax for the dog so I will test it out on this trip.

“Eye of newt, and toe of frog, / Wool of bat, and tongue of dog….” Yikes!
12:32 pm on July 18th, 2013
Strike that last line for Pete’s sake! No tongue of dog! Bad, bad Wills! We have heard that he was not a dog lover.
12:33 pm on July 18th, 2013
HRHB….way toooo graphic. Apologize to Charlie

I’ve explained to Charlie that those words are spoken by the witches. (I may be making this up, but I thought the witches were called “The Weird Sisters.”) We’re leaving Macbeth and going back to Cymbeline and then to an evening performance of Hamlet. (I’ve explained “revenge tragedy” to Charlie.)

Love Stratford-Upon-Avon. Went with YSAS’s acting camp. They took over the garden, and spouted Shakespeare. Tourists were impressed!
OTAS and I are both righties.
Then there is YSAS. He is right handed, but left eye dominant. Sports that required aiming were a problem until we figured it out.
Back to PACKING!
12:46 pm on July 18th, 2013
Only thing Mama knows about the Scottish Play is the line “out, out dam spot” and that the phrase “milk of human kindness” comes from there.
12:48 pm on July 18th, 2013
Does that make Dawson, Staff and the Katty Librarian Weird Sisters? Or Witches?
Forgot to say. YSAS is working nights on the film now. They start at 4:30 pm and go to 3:30 am or longer. That continues until Sunday. Then they get a day off and start over.
The NICE thing is it’s a tad cooler at night.
The Not NICE thing is the people in the Bronx where they are filming are throwing marshmallows and bottle caps at them.
12:57 pm on July 18th, 2013
Have never heard of a dominate eye! How do you even discover something like that?
Barb is strongly left handed, but does some thing right handed, because her mom was a righty and Barb learned from her. Cutting with scissors, ironing and knitting are some of the things that she does right handed. All sports were left handed, and she always starts off on her left foot.

HRH B: Let’s try sonnet LXVI . I can translate if needed.
1:27 pm on July 18th, 2013
Is LXVI 66? Go ahead and translate HOH.
1:32 pm on July 18th, 2013
OK, Just went on Google and found out how to tell which eye is dominate. Barb is left eye dominate, in case anyone cares. Snicker. Learned something today, Mleanie.
1:33 pm on July 18th, 2013
B&M, Phil Mickelson (I love him) golfs left-handed only because he mirrored his father’s right handed swing. He does everything else right handed.
1:33 pm on July 18th, 2013
Line 7: “And right perfection wrongly disgraced,” (And TY HRH B for that)
1:35 pm on July 18th, 2013
Yes, we believe it is 66.
Also researched Raine Stockton series, and there are now 7 in the series. This one is quick reading and fun, so will order the 2nd one. Thanks to Wookie’s Dad for the recommendation.
1:48 pm on July 18th, 2013
Wookie’s Dad: if mom is reading the map correctly, Prince George’s Co. is south and east of you, with no h2o, and you are ok?
1:51 pm on July 18th, 2013
HOH: What does line 7 mean? It’s been a long time since I read the Sonnets. (I always thought that the “rose” in Sonnet 1 which editors of the Norton Anthology suggest means “the poet’s name for the object of his desire,” actually refers to the poet’s work…plays, poetry.)
2:05 pm on July 18th, 2013
Just meant 7th line of the 14 line sonnet.
2:11 pm on July 18th, 2013
HRH B Sorry, I am working out of the 1961 “Craig text” as our prof at U of Redlands used to say. Was trying to exculpate you from the “tongue of dog” bit.

RIO! Please check your SDD when able.

Enjoying the first Raine Stockton book so much that we just ordered the 2nd, Rapid Fire, from our library. It may take a few days because our library does not carry the series. Barb will be done with Smoky Mountain Tracker in a day or two. This is a series that youse guys will like. What could be better than a mystery series with a dog?
4:40 pm on July 18th, 2013
Hmmm. Both Zoe and I have finished the entire Raine series. I believe we started them the day Wƶƶkies’s Dad mentioned it. They are fun with a good mystery. Not up in OFA’s caliber, nice and light.
Had to rest my back on the heating pad. I hate Wallyworld. Helpful people that told me to go to opposite sides of the store FOUR times. Ended up getting face paint at Mich . . Craft store.
More to do, but time to rest.

Weird Sisters: We do have in our ancestry a woman who died in prison the night before she was to be burned at the stake in the 1600’s. Weird?
4:59 pm on July 18th, 2013
Melanie: In case I don’t post before you leave tomorrow, you have a great weekend!
5:04 pm on July 18th, 2013
Thanks Dawson. I’ll meet you at the dead of night on the next new moon.
5:48 pm on July 18th, 2013
Melanie, what is the face paint for? Have a fun 3 day-weekend.

Melanie: Safe Trip OR Pirt Efas for the terminally dyslexic.

C. Hobbit, When Barb went to grade school, they didn’t try to make her write right handed, but her 3rd grade teacher made her flip her hand around so she wasn’t smearing over the words she had just written. She held her pencil so it was above the line, as many lefties do. She said she cried because it was so hard for her to do it the way the teacher wanted.
6:19 pm on July 18th, 2013
The ‘rents just got home, and we are all holed up in the A/C. Mom keeps saying A/C is the ruination of people. Just so she doesn’t think we Huskies are ruined.
Melanie, Have fun fun fun!!!

MrStaff is going to a street dance/concert in downtown Fargo tonight. None of us are going with him. I sounds horrible and hot and crowded and boozy. sniff. But it is bluegrass.
We will stay home and watch the Tour de France. Mountains today!
6:49 pm on July 18th, 2013
Melanie: Have a splendid time!
Rebecca?
7:08 pm on July 18th, 2013
Hot. It’s too bloomin’ hot.
We have decided today that we are going to have our house painted. It has been blue for 30 years. All we know for sure so far is that we don’t want white or beige. It is a ranch (southern exposure, lots of sun) with a dark grey roof, bushes in front and the woods visible over the top of the house from the street.
Anyone have any wild and wonderful suggestions of color?
We have been really looking at houses with a critical eye lately: the dark red house with the pink flowering bushes in front – euch, the salmon house with green shutters…hmmmm. Every other house on our street is either white or beige. We have to be different.

We are missing the rain . . again.
Riƶ! Stay safe!
This is a family party. Lots of kids with parents, camping out in the backyard and such. The face paint will be for the kids (mostly). I am very good at scars and monsters. I do not do flowers, fairies, or sparkle. What can I say? I had two guys.

HOH — thanks for asking about the water situation. Fortunately, it would not have affected us, although earlier today they found a way to bypass the damaged water main so no one is without water.

T & G, We have several thought on color combos. Will post tomorrow when you are back on the scene. Night all.

Goodnight Rio. I had to wait until the end of the Tour de France prime time show. Mr.Staff is still at his bluegrass concert, or on his way home. Hope he had a good time.
Nighty noodle youse guys. And morning meringue to LizF.
3:22 am on July 19th, 2013
We here have been busy. Our Lady doesn’t know if she has been coming or going. Our intel tells us she’s been leaving very early in the morning and coming home late at night. She has missed all youse. She has mentioned being very, very busy at work with a lot of travel scheduled in the coming weeks. She’s also been busy with me. Tomorrow morning, she is taking me to the vet to have more teeth pulled. We will leave first thing in the morning, and she has to work tomorrow night. I have the feeling we’re both in for a long day. Tonight, she and the Giant went on a date because they won’t see each other for a while.
LizF: We are thinking of you and Cricket. We have intel from the other side of the Bridge. Cricket was welcomed with welcome paws and will stay close to you for as long as you need.
Staff: Whitey-Lance blurred to Scout to convince her to be found. According to our infamous wanderer, the finding is the best part of wandering. My Lady sniff every times she thinks of Scout.
Rio: It is obvious to us that your Friend’s employer spared no expense with the upgrades to her new office space. A pillar can be useful in so many ways. Lifting one’s leg is the first benefit that comes to mind.
There is so much we wanted to say, but are forgetting now that we’ve caught up on the blog. Wheeze!
Nighty noodles.
7:18 am on July 19th, 2013

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is needed to get setup? I’m assuming
having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100% positive.
Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Appreciate it

Asking questions are genuinely good thing if you are not understanding something completely,
but this article presents good understanding even.
