Random Amazon Review We Like
The Chet and Bernie books are the best kind of light reading — hilariously funny, sometimes poignant, galloping good reads. If you’ve ever owned and/or loved a dog, you will love them. I’m collecting a complete set, so I can share them with everyone I know! – only me “only me” on Thereby Hangs A Tail.
Thanks for all the dog movie suggestions in the comments yesterday, everybody. Netflix!
Welcome two friendly dudes (who also seem to have slipped into Beppe’s special Friend of the Month place. This is probably the doing of the NSA.)

Gooood morning, everyone! Now we see the usurping of Beppe’s foto. We thought it was our technologically challenged status that kept us from seeing it before.
Will it be a Tumultuous Tuesday? Only time and a Slim Jim will tell.
8:41 am on June 11th, 2013
Greetings!
I was a little confused about Beppe’s photo as well. I thought my mind was playing ticks on me. All those meds, you know.
8:48 am on June 11th, 2013
Ah, Rose, meds and technology…what a combination. (Does this mean we are in deep doooo-doooo?)
8:56 am on June 11th, 2013
Oh oh, Bee is not going to be pleased with that review. Us, well, we liked it.
Kelly is taking Barb out to lunch for bringing her checkbook to her. That is the excuse anyway. Right now, time to spread some mulch.
Yes, Beppe looks a little bigger this morning.
8:59 am on June 11th, 2013
Good morning.
Barb, all 7 ladies are doing wonderfully today!
A galloping good read…ha ha! We like it too.
Beppe is bigger x 2 !
9:09 am on June 11th, 2013
Yea for Helen! Now we can breath.
9:19 am on June 11th, 2013
What is the NSA?
Good morning all.
9:25 am on June 11th, 2013
???National Security Administration??? Do they override an East German random number generator circa 1956?
9:26 am on June 11th, 2013
OOOO, A teaser for ICVI on the right.
9:30 am on June 11th, 2013
WHAT???? Stovernia does not have a National Security Agency??
Who controls the baseball/read-as-a-noun prison?
9:42 am on June 11th, 2013
NSA!…Those are the guys that are spying on you everyday of your lives…snort!…Wake up America!…grunt!
9:50 am on June 11th, 2013
Ahhhh…that NSA. In Stovernia squirrels control the prison. (Heh heh heh…by the pricking of my thumbs….)
10:08 am on June 11th, 2013
something wicked this way comes…Oh, wait that is just Belle. Close enough.
Mom DID get out early since Dad ALLOWED her to use his grass chopping thingy. It is supposed to get to 100 today, so she may not go any farther than the shower, kitchen, couch route. Thursday they go to Austin for Another Job Interview, for Another Job that Dad Will Not Get Because He is TOO OLD. And he gets to spend a couple hundred dollars for the privilege. Mom can hardly contain her excitement. (in a small envelope)
10:11 am on June 11th, 2013
Macy – tee hee. But we will still keep our fingers crossed for The Big Job Interview.
Bee – SQUIRRELS as prison guards? That’s just nuts.
10:12 am on June 11th, 2013
Beppe is still in the proper place for a friend of the month. Franklin and Roger as puppies are up top. They are extra large puppies.
Fire! Mountain!
Thanks to you for donating the beads so that T&G’s Mum can work her special magic and make not one but two! necklaces to support our favorite Iditarod team, Snowhook Kennels! WhoooHoooo!
Have Harness, Will Travel.
I haven’t forgotten that I made a pledge to be sent in this month. I will be sending a little extra in honor and memory of Buddy (the first FOC on the blog), One Perfect Rose (our zany River Bear Newf), and the sweet angel Jaxon. I will send Rio and Rose (R&R) emails when I figure out the exact amount.
Another cloudy day in Paradise.
10:18 am on June 11th, 2013
Someone on this blog is acting just plain squirrely!
WARM??? Looks to be out first 90* day of the year 🙁 o’cast & muggy. Hey, can we be the new meteordogigist?
10:24 am on June 11th, 2013
HOH>< NOOO, not with that kind of forecast!
If pookie gets all shaved up does she look like a pot-bellied pig on stilts? Or is she super slim under all that hair?
We were looking at Reader's Digest yesterday. There was a stack of recommended books called "The Reads" heh-heh
10:29 am on June 11th, 2013
OK – so there are a few things you have to know to understand this:
1. The bedroom window is wide open all night
2. We have an alarm clock that goes bip bip bip bip bip
3. We have a lovely, wooded backyard, full of birds
4. Mockingbirds like to imitate interesting sounds
5. Mockingbirds wake up WAY earlier than we do.
After this morning’s 5 am serenade, we are ready to rewrite that famous book To Kill a Mockingbird
10:33 am on June 11th, 2013
I’m cracking up about Spence’s NSA joke, only it probably is the truth instead of a joke.
Macy, We will keep all 4 paws crossed for your dad.
98 to 100 degrees today, but it will not be like Macy’s 100 degrees…no humidity here.
10:58 am on June 11th, 2013
Just don’t kill any mockingbirds down here. They are the state bird. Why can’t we have a fancy bird?
11:01 am on June 11th, 2013
In Stovernia anyone who uses “read” as a noun is put in one of the dungeons which are guarded by goats.
11:08 am on June 11th, 2013
Macy, poor Pookey does indeed look like a pbp on short stilts(he,he)
Lucy Lou the labradoo has solved the mocker problem (repeatedly). BARK AT IT!
11:24 am on June 11th, 2013
Mom loves mockingbirds. Go figure.
Goats? Cool! We have been wating to get our paws on those goats. So…what good summer reads do you all recommend? heh heh!
Macy, Mom feels the same way about her interviews. Luckily, she does have a job now, and she thinks she will just be stuck in that one until she dies.
11:26 am on June 11th, 2013
FireMountainGems is a Dog Friendly website. The handsome dog named P.C. narrates Tail-Wagging Tails. I just read about PC and the skunk. Oops! SiberH could relate to that tail.
Malanie: I hope the caffeine wore off and no mockingbirds serenaded you this morning. I suppose it is too much to ask that the Newfs let you sleep in for once.
Me? Another pre-noon nap is in order.
MacyMinPin: I hear you.

Poor sad puppy-lips 🙁 We cried for those dogs. Our life is great!
1:01 pm on June 11th, 2013
A Quick Greeting then off to do Errands.
Dawson: Love your suggestions for Have Harness Will Travel.
Bebbe continues to be MIA.
B: The Amazon Review was great until the second paragraph. Gah.
O’Howlers: Funny video!
Macy: Paws crossed along with the others for your Dad’s Successful Job Interview.
Barb&Magpie: Enjoy your Lunch.
Rio: I fear you & Spence are right about the NSA.
Watch What you Say and Where You Say it!
Hounds: Check with WeatherKat. Perhaps you can share the honors. After all, us dawgs need our own representation.
Wose, Siber-H and Tupper&Gilly & All: Top of the Morning to youse!

Morning? It’s already afternoon.
Share…kats love to share…Heh, heh, heh.
1:20 pm on June 11th, 2013
Mmmm? That hasn’t been our experience with the kittykousins.
1:22 pm on June 11th, 2013
HOH: Tongue in cheek (sarcastic font) Heh.
1:26 pm on June 11th, 2013
Have all youse that were moving at the speed of light slowed down?
I’m talking about you, Melanie, Staff, CHobbit.
1:29 pm on June 11th, 2013
BearSpiritDog: I got those suggestions for donations to the Have Harness Fund from other Plunderers before me. I’m running behind them. Heh, heh. (If you’re not the lead dog, the view never changes.)
O’Howlers: I cannot read any sad diaries right now.
Turtleman is here taking pictures of my US passport. Then a nurse is scheduled to see Dad, then a physiotherapist.
I keep forgetting to tell y’all. I got a Paul Robeson tomato plant at the farmer’s market this weekend. I am excited to eat some. I also got 6 dwarf sunflowers to make up for the 20 the bunnies ate.
2:03 pm on June 11th, 2013
Arrrrggg. I crashed from the caffeine at 3 am. This morning Frank had to go to the vet. It is not a hematoma. It is a calcified fatty mass. It will be removed from his ear Thursday next.
Thanks for all the emails for the boutique. I will getting to them a bit later. I’m going to be like Dawson and BSD and grab a nap.
More rain this afternoon. My tomatoes have stopped talking to me.

Those were some seriously sad dog stories, I know of a couple of guys who should have had their…removed a little sooner, but.
Mom has been cooling down from the yard stuff for FOUR hours now, so I think I will herd her toward the shower. (when you dog thinks you stink, you stink!)
2:14 pm on June 11th, 2013
Hounds: You called it! A Tumultuous Tuesday it is.
Time for Lunch followed by a Nap.
2:23 pm on June 11th, 2013
Dawson, yes you can (watch those diaries).
2:32 pm on June 11th, 2013
CHobbit – Are you having daylight for 24 hours now?
2:49 pm on June 11th, 2013

Melanie: If you are round don’t sleep in a tree. tee hee.
Oley: Nice story!
3:49 pm on June 11th, 2013
Massquers, I had a round Kat that would fall off the furniture. He said, “I meant to do that.”
Didn’t get a nap. Body is stilled buzzed. Considering going and hitting the teenager in the ankles for not paying attention at DDs.
It soon will be time for Zoe and I to watch something on the computer. I’ll probably fall asleep during that.
Look for emails later.
3:50 pm on June 11th, 2013
Mollypop’s Mom: yes we are having 24 hours of daylight. Good for getting things done.
Melanie: I sent you two more Boutique item photos for you to do your thing. The one item you really liked I got multiples of because I think others will want it also. 🙂
Today is the cleaning house, washing & ironing, etc. day. [I think I am the last person among my friends and acquaintances who still irons]
3:57 pm on June 11th, 2013
What is ironing?
4:01 pm on June 11th, 2013
Ironing!…I’ve seen the guys in my house ironing…sniff!…Although one of them does way more than the other one of them….heh!
4:46 pm on June 11th, 2013
Before I retired I ironed.
4:48 pm on June 11th, 2013
Zoe went to our acupuncturist this afternoon. I mentioned that if he had any ideas about getting rid of the left over caffeine to letme know. He had a homeopathic remedy. Seems to helping. I hope . .
4:53 pm on June 11th, 2013
Mommy irons everything I think. Even bed sheets.
5:12 pm on June 11th, 2013
B: you retired from ironing? What??? A Portuguese washer woman?
5:17 pm on June 11th, 2013
When married (eons ago), my MiL said, very nicely, that I had left the iron on the day before, and she was concerned about fire.
I looked at her, and said, “Must have been ***. I don’t iron.” From then on she did all his ironing. snicker
5:23 pm on June 11th, 2013
Sammie: It is said Someone’s Gram Ironed the Bedsheets with a device called a…never mind…can’t remember what it is called…but the sheets came out satin smooth.
Ironing is NOT done in this household. The items are removed from the drying and folded immediately.
(Damit! Now we will be trying to Remember the Name of that Ironing Device all day and all night. Grrr)
Melanie: Must say…you are really Over the Top with the Caffeine effects…no wonder there is decaffeinated brew.
Double Shot Espressos here to Jump Start the Day.
5:29 pm on June 11th, 2013
BSD: A mangle. always thought it a funny word.
5:30 pm on June 11th, 2013
P.S. Mom says ironing is against her religion but the old iron on the shelf isn’t sitting against anything.
5:33 pm on June 11th, 2013
I see that I’ve started something with my mention of ironing. I never could time hovering over the dryer when it stopped and taking out the clothes. However, I did just buy a hand-held steamer so I might try that. [Darn those kiosks with salespeople who nab you and demonstrate their “must have” products. I fell for one last winter in Anchorage and bought something I still haven’t used. This big city living is going to be my downfall. I also can never go to county fairs because of this or watch shopping channels on tv]
5:39 pm on June 11th, 2013
Hounds: Thank Dog you remembered! We would have been Obsessing over this For Days.

Now Sharon is being squirrely.
6:14 pm on June 11th, 2013
I love that mangle! A hand-cranker. I don’t mind ironing but the last few years I used a steamer on my uniforms. I like the steamer because I also used it for removing wallpaper but it can’t make a crisp pleat like an iron can.
6:15 pm on June 11th, 2013
Hmmmm…Beppe is not in his place of honor.
Ironing! My mom used to iron my dad’s underwear , and in the good old days of wrinkly bedsheets, she ironed those two. From time to time, she would wash of few things with a washboard.
Grizz doesn’t believe in ironing. I iron Grizz’s pants and shirts, and iron my jeans, tops, pants, and dresses. ( Wearing a dress…an occasion that happens very infrequently).
6:17 pm on June 11th, 2013
Bear, That mangler looks like it be useful in making peanut brittle. Yum!
6:23 pm on June 11th, 2013
With the cool-down cycle on today’sdryers, andthe wrinkle-free nature of today’s fabrics, wedon’t see a reason to either iron or hover-and-fold-immediately. Mom does have one or two cotton shirts she likes to wear on hot summer days that occasinally need some ironing. So that iron on the shelf gets used maybe once a year.
6:28 pm on June 11th, 2013
We have never heard of a mangle. Good thing.
6:41 pm on June 11th, 2013
My grandmother had one of those things. I loved to watch the gears.
Next? Kitchen.
Then? Primping pics.
Bed calls, but I will put my harness on and pull my weight for Snowhook.
Oh yeah,

B: We confess, mom can and does get squirrelly some times…you should take a loooong car trip with her…yikes.
Baby has been in and out of the fish pond today, bobbing for goldfish 🙁 It is punnishment ’cause the 2-leggers drained the wading pool and won’t clean and fill it again until tomorrow.

BSD – was the sheet thing a “mangle”. We know that is some type of old fashioned laundry device.
We do have an ironing board. It is a cool one that folds up in its own cabinet a la a Murphy bed. So it is never in the way, but it’s there when we need it.
7:14 pm on June 11th, 2013
Well that was strange. We were catching up on the blog, but our refresh only had one page. We posted, and only then did the second page pop in. So, everyone already knew a out the mangle. Oh well.
7:14 pm on June 11th, 2013
Melanie: Cool Green and River Flowing…Nice.
Wose: Hmmm…Peanut Butter…you are making me Hungry (easy to do)
Poor Bebbe. He is getting robbed.
7:21 pm on June 11th, 2013
Tupper&Gilly: Yes, Gram ironed her sheets with an electric mangle (inappropriate name in our opinion). They came out sooooo Smooth and Soft.
We like the “Murphy Bed” concept for storing the ironing board. It was a feature in one of our homes. Those things can be mighty unwieldy.
7:25 pm on June 11th, 2013
Water!…We here need some of that over-flow water you all have…sniff!…Three forest fires are burning here right now…gasp!…We just saw a million dollar ++ house go up in flames…wheeze!
7:30 pm on June 11th, 2013
Hey, on pg40 of FOC, Wally Doodle looks enough like Lucy Lou the labradoo to be a sibling.
7:36 pm on June 11th, 2013
Rio – are you safe from any fires where you live?
7:40 pm on June 11th, 2013
I received my small journal (can’t remember what we were calling it). Very nice. It has an elastic band to keep it closed and in the back there is a flap to hold cards and things.
7:48 pm on June 11th, 2013
B: Squirrelly Sharon here, my passport should arrive on Tremendous Thursday.
7:58 pm on June 11th, 2013
B.Stover, I also received my passport.
People who have sent in pictures? Please check SDD.
Heading upstairs . .
8:10 pm on June 11th, 2013
Passport!…Now I thinking I should use my little baseball notebook, the one where Mat Belisle #34, signed on the very first page…snort!…We could have a combo of baseball signatures and Plunderer stamps and signatures in ONE LITTLE BOOK!…chuffle!…This thing will be worth a zillion dollars one day..heh!….But she is still thinking about the little brown book just for Plunderer stamps…sniff!
8:10 pm on June 11th, 2013
Holy Mackeral Masquers! Where’s the barf bag?
8:10 pm on June 11th, 2013
The Official Plunderer Passport has arrived! It was supposed to be delivered tomorrow but came a Day Early. Kool!
Now if we can only decide on stamps…..
8:11 pm on June 11th, 2013
Sharon!…Page 40?…sniff!…You have way too much time on your paws…grunt!
8:13 pm on June 11th, 2013
Kat: I know. And, those people look cool as cucumbers.
8:15 pm on June 11th, 2013
Fires!…We are safe because we do not live in the mountains in million-billion dollar mountain homes…sniff!… We only get the smoke and dust…gag!
8:23 pm on June 11th, 2013
Rio – whew! We are relieved that you are not too close to the fires. Lets face it – with the …ummmm….odiferous emissions you and Beau are famous for, you could touch off an explosion that woul blow the state of Colorado right off the map.
8:23 pm on June 11th, 2013
Rio. Tough baseball game tonight — the Rockies versus the Nationals. Actually, right now at least, the Rockies are playing much better than the Nationals.
8:31 pm on June 11th, 2013
Wookie’s Paw!….That’s right! We play your team tonight!…snort!snort!….We are just now turning the game on. Will you be staying up till the bitter end?…heh!heh!…There will be 7 games against the Nats in the next few weeks. They are here on a very hot night…snort!…It is a dry heat. Good for fires…sniff!
8:33 pm on June 11th, 2013
Maskers!…What a ride! Those guys didn’t even have their seatbelts on…snort!…Well, I guess why bother, huh?…heh!
8:43 pm on June 11th, 2013
Wookie’s Paw!…Do you see that little jut-out straight down from first base where the first ball just went?…snort!…That was where my friend was sitting on Sunday in the third row…heh!…What great seats!
8:49 pm on June 11th, 2013
HOH: The only dog I see on page 40 of FOC that might be a labradoodle is the one that wants to grow up to be just like Chet. Is that the one? I love looking through the FOC. I find it amazing that although all so different, you are all so good looking. One of my very favorites is Frodo. Don’t ask me what page.
9:05 pm on June 11th, 2013
SiberH!…Are you with us tonight?…sniff!…Something tells me this is going to be a very good game!….Woooo!…Nuthin’ ta Nuthin’ right now top of the 2nd inning…heh!…Hopefully it stays really hot outside so we will not have to go for a walk…grunt!
9:11 pm on June 11th, 2013
Melanie we watched the train video all the way through in hopes of seeing one of those front guys crack a smile. One almost did, then apparently thought better of it.
9:13 pm on June 11th, 2013
I’m Here!!!
I feel sorry for the players in this heat.
9:15 pm on June 11th, 2013
Hey! I’m not blue. I don’t want to be blue.
9:15 pm on June 11th, 2013
HOH: I found the LucyLoo Look Alike. Wow! So that’s what a labradoodle looks like! Cool.
9:17 pm on June 11th, 2013
Link!…SiberH has a link on his name….snorkel!…You can get rid of it by deleting what is in the field called “Website” that is below where your Name and Email address are…heh!…Do it right before you post…sniff!…Or it will come back!
9:34 pm on June 11th, 2013
ok I am following Rio’s instructions exactly.
9:35 pm on June 11th, 2013
RIO!!! It worked!!!
9:36 pm on June 11th, 2013
Barb used to iron sheets, table cloths, shirts and everything else with a mangle called an Iron Rite. You sat down in front of it and rolled the fabric thru it. This was back in the late 60’s and 70’s before polyester became popular. She also used cloth diapers. Today everyone uses disposables which are filling up the land fills at an alarming rate. Does this generation care? No!
9:38 pm on June 11th, 2013
SiberH!…Have I ever led you astray?…heh!…Now as to your remark about the players in the heat…sniff!…I think the Nats are just fine with the dry heat, but they might struggle with the Air or lack of it…wheeze!…This hot weather sprang out of no where it seems…sniff!
9:45 pm on June 11th, 2013
I think the altitude could be a problem for the Nationals, although it hasn’t prevented them from taking an early 2 to 0 lead.
9:48 pm on June 11th, 2013
Early!…Is the key word here Mr. Wookie’s Paw…sniff!…It is very early. Plus I would hate to see one of your guys run all the bases. That could be fatal in more ways than one…snort!
9:53 pm on June 11th, 2013
I don’t know who started the ironing thing, but when Barb was little, moms stayed home and they had a weekly routine. Wash on Monday, iron on Tuesday, mend on Wednesday, Thurs. ?, Friday clean, Saturday shop and cook, Sunday rest.
OK, Barb is really showing her age. Nighty noodles.
9:55 pm on June 11th, 2013
Riö, did you see the burning million dollar house on one of your brutel walks? I would send you some extra water if I could figure out how to it.
Masquers, tried to watch the video, but it was taken forever for the iPaw to load it. I tried to back page to the blog and was thrown in to a vortex. It would back page to you tube and then restart the video which wouldn’t load.
Yikes! Wish me luck. I’m goint to sleep . .
9:55 pm on June 11th, 2013
Structured!…Barb, I as a Pug believe in a structured life…sniff!…Chaos is for the birds. Damned birds….grunt!…Goodnight Barb! Big sloppy pug kiss and slurps to send you on your merry way…heh!burp!
9:57 pm on June 11th, 2013
Melanie!…ditto!..snort!

Walk!…grunt!…At 8:30pm she says we are going out for a walk no matter what ….wheeze!…I’m already dying just thinking about it…gasp!…Plus! What if the game is really exciting by then, meaning the Rockies have actually scored to tie the game up??? What then???…gah!
10:10 pm on June 11th, 2013
TIED!…Tyler Colvin has tied it up for the Rockies!…whew!…snort!cough!

Hobbit last night. Better get crack’n before the second Hobbit Movie comes out.
G’night Everyone – Bear

Well, Rio, you will miss it.
The baseball players must be in such good shape that coming to Denver from sea level doesn’t bother them. Very fit people can get altitude sickness on Mt. Everest, but Denver is not Mt. Everest.
Speaking of altitude, Rio…Did you know that because of the altitude we live at, we could travel to sea level and drink the locals under the table for about a week before our high altitude conditioning wore off.
10:15 pm on June 11th, 2013
It is a brand new ball game!!

Gave away my dining room set today. I am down to mostly my bedroom furniture, a couple of chairs and a display cabinet. Moving is getting easier and easier. 🙂

C.Hobbit, aren’t you going to need furniture in your new house? We vote for the original colors you had, too. Hope it sells soon!
Regarding yesterday, Mom still shaves her legs (and was kinda disturbed that many of y’all have given that up) but refuses to wear hose any more. She is really glad that it is now considered fashionable to go bare legs!
She will iron on occassion, but not the sheets. She hates to fold sheets too so its strip the bed, wash and dry sheets and then make the bed back up. Most of her ironing is for touch up only. The cleaners does a great job on Dad’s jeans and shirts!

Gus & Boo Bear: I’ve had most of this furniture for a long time. It is good stuff and has found good homes with people who need it. So I am only taking my bedroom set which is not very old and some sentimental pieces. I find that when a person moves to a new place, the rooms and colors are different so I have found it is best to start fresh. I can survive with what I have for a good while.
I remember learning to iron when I was a little girl with a sprinkling bottle and/or a damp tea towels. I started with ironing Dad’s handkerchiefs. My Grandmother had an iron that she put on the wood cookstove and heated to iron. Those were the days!

G & BB, I am with you on the legs thing, but if you wear pants all the time…nobody has looked at my legs in so long…sigh…
and for any of you ironing sheets, get help at once.
Melanie, whenever you see a cat do something stupid, it will always be followed by the casual paw-lick-I-meant-to-that. My kat Kasie always followed up with that move.

I don’t know if Dawson remembers. She is much younger than I. When we lived in Michigan in a huge old Victorian house it came with two living rooms and the dining room had a sort of a raised stage on one side and it had a mangle set up on that stage. It was left there when we moved. Mom used it while we were there though. Through 1957. Dawson was very very young then. Practically hardly born. Snicker.

Thank you, I’ve just been searching for info about this topic for ages and yours is the best I’ve came upon till now. But, what about the bottom line? Are you sure in regards to the supply?|What i do not understood is in reality how you are now not actually a lot more neatly-liked than you may be now. You are so intelligent.
