Random Amazon Review We Like
I’m reading all the Chet and Bernie books. Talk about fun! Hearing the story told by Chet is often so hilarious I wake up my wife. Then I have to read the chapter to her and we both laugh.
“So we’re good for the institution of matrimony?” Admin says. “Whoda thunk?”
Welcome 3 good-looking new friends: Merriweather Lewis, Cami in NM, Bubba in OR.

People enjoy sharing things that make them laugh.
Good morning all.

Good morning all.
Wonder if the reviewer is a lurker?
Have we heard from Bluecat of Kirby this week?
9:25 am on January 18th, 2013
Good morning all.
Zoë and I have several blogs, comments and such that we read out loud to each other. Nice to laugh.
I’ll be in and out today. Going to the vet for a med run and then grocery shopping. I was going to do something for myself, but turns out my brother and wife are coming for the weekend. They are staying with my sister.

Jack is here for the day. DIL took off for Indianapolis this morning with Lyla for a cheer convention, even tho she has been sick in bed with the flu since Wed. Cheering for these young kids has become extremely popular, as you might have noticed. Not like when Barb’s kids were young and you took them to the community center 1 hour a week for gymnastics. DIL is obsessed with this and they spend hundreds (that they don’t have) on outfits, fees, gas and food. No only that but DIL has started doing it herself and is the “flyer” since she has the slender, fit body of a 16 year old. The other gals throw her way, way up in the air, and hopefully catch her before she breaks her neck or ends up in a wheelchair. Now she wants 6 year old Lyla to become a flyer and Lyla thinks she might need to lose a little weight, as she is not quite skinny enough. Holy s**t!
10:00 am on January 18th, 2013
Barb!…Interesting to know what your son thinks of all this….sniff!…Sounds like its getting a tad out of paw especially when someone is seriously thinking about putting a 6 year old on a diet…grunt!
10:02 am on January 18th, 2013
Staff!…What say you on the whole Lance Armstrong doping confession? You are a big Tour De France fan, aren’t you?..sniff!…That guy is the biggest jerk ever. Who would have thought?…grump!
10:09 am on January 18th, 2013
MagPie, we don’t want another Honey Boo Boo!
10:11 am on January 18th, 2013
Barb thinks that son would rather his wife cool it on this activity, but she does what she wants and no one tells her no. We don’t think they are not really wanting to put Lyla on a diet. Probably more likely Lyla was told she was “too heavy to be a flyer”, and it is Lyla who decided she should lose weight. Still, we see red flags going up for an eating disorder when a 6 yr old is even thinking about her weight.
Sorry to be venting, but the obsurdity of this has Barb irratated. I guess there are worse things DIL could be doing in her mid-life crisis (she turns 30 this year).
10:13 am on January 18th, 2013
Barb – glad you got some good info on the knee surgery. It’s better when you can go in feeling confident.
But your DIL? That’s just weird on so many levels.
We understand about reading parts of Chet out loud. That happens here a lot, along with accompanying laughter. Same goes for reading the blog out loud.
Melanie – hope today is a little better( despite news of impending company)
10:24 am on January 18th, 2013
SIX YEAR OLDS DO NOT PUT THEMSELVES ON A DIET!
That’s when the PARENT says “You are the Perfect you.”
Jeeze Louise.
I don’t see how Bella and AJ do Poop Patrol in the -degree temps. It’s 6 degrees right now and I’m waiting . .
Of course, they’re up in the 30’s or so.
10:25 am on January 18th, 2013
Mid-Life!….Heh!…If she is having a crisis now at 30 what will she do when she turns 40…grunt!
10:29 am on January 18th, 2013
Reading the Chet and Bernie books out loud is something that we have done since Dog On It. I was just laughing so much when I started reading the book that Debbie made me read it out loud, and this was the start of a grand tradition here in Chevy Chase.
10:41 am on January 18th, 2013
I love the word “impending.” It’s from Latin impendere–to hang over. The next word is often “doom.”
A double negative makes a positive.
10:55 am on January 18th, 2013
Rio – we were reading a transcript of Armstrong’s interview.
Diagnosis: narcissistic sociopath.
Bee – we would be willing to bet real money that Melanie thinks you hit the nail on the head.

Happy Birthday a day late, Stotyteller!! Sorry we missed posting yesterday.
3 months ago today, Dad was in surgery and it was the start of a very, very long day. But so far, the journey has gone well and Dad is still alive and doing great. We hear stories of others who have gone through this and haven’t had good results. Mom says prayers of thanks everyday for all the love and support they have received.
Love you guys!
Gus & BooBear
11:30 am on January 18th, 2013
Gus&BooBear, The good news aboiut your dad has been one of the recent highlights on this blog. We are thankful.
T&G Your diagnosis of Armstrong seems to be right on. So is Rio’s…jerk.
We like that review from Amazon. Mom and I read out loud to dad from the Chet and Bernie series.
11:31 am on January 18th, 2013
So happy to hear that things are still good for G & B’s dad. We have strong prayers here on the blog.
We are in total agreement about Lance. What a disappointment on so many levels.
Rio, hopefully she is getting the midlife crisis out of the way now and won’t move on to more drama at 40!
Watched The Artist last night and enjoyed it much more than we expected.
11:59 am on January 18th, 2013
Good (barely) morning, All! It is finally SUNNY here, although cold which we don’t mind nearly as much as that fog and grey.
Barb, d-i-l having a mid-life crisis at 30??? And talking about 6-yr old flying and needing to lose weight. We are seeing all sorts of red flags here.
Lance A. is a jerk for sure.
The 3 new FOCs today are all really great!
And Macy’s picture of doggie noses last night is a hoot!
Bella: safe trip!
Junior: We always RETREAT!
12:05 pm on January 18th, 2013
Barb&Magpie: The Artist is one of our all-time favorites. Glad you liked it.
Lance Armstrong, Barry Bonds, Tiger Woods…Tarnished Heroes every one.
B: A double negative makes a positive. Sounds Good to us!
Macy: Loved the Alien Noses!
Happy Friday to all youse.
12:14 pm on January 18th, 2013
Negatives!…So does that mean two Pugs make a positive?…snort!
12:15 pm on January 18th, 2013
Healing thoughts to the Storyteller. Last night’s birthday dinner sounds scrumptious!
Hmmm…the Golden at Rose’s side looked very familiar.
Zoe and G&BB’s dad are inspirations to us all.
Good travels to Bella.
12:19 pm on January 18th, 2013
Loved Macy’s noses and G & B’s email with all the naughty doggies.
Lance didn’t even need to do all that to be a hero. Just beating cancer and competing was enough. But maybe not enough for his ego.
Mid life crisis- yes we hope it stops at trying to be a high flying cheerleader at 30, and doesn’t advance to the boyfriend level. Son would not handle that well, oh not not at all.
12:19 pm on January 18th, 2013
Riö: No! Two pugs…one light, one dark…make up the Tao symbol of yin and yang.
12:29 pm on January 18th, 2013
Maskers!…What in dawgs name are you talking about?…grunt!
12:40 pm on January 18th, 2013
Isn’t yin and yang like perfect balance of the negative and positive energies? Wonder which one Rio thinks Beau to be!
12:41 pm on January 18th, 2013
Masquers – that made us laugh out loud. The thought of Rio and Beau being Yin and Yang.
hahahahahahahahhahaha
(we liked the doggie who locked the kat in the shower the best. Trying to figure out how to do that. Here kitty, kitty, kitty)
12:42 pm on January 18th, 2013
Am I the only one worried about the Iditarod not happening because of the warm temps in Alaska? Maybe they could move it to Melanie’s neck of the woods.
12:45 pm on January 18th, 2013
Buddy, I have also thought of that. I am guessing it would only be a part of the Iditarod trail that would be affected…but that could be enough.
It is warming up here so maybe that means Alaska will be returning to their normal temperatues. I hope.
12:46 pm on January 18th, 2013
Hmmmm.
My reaction if I was woke in the middle of the night for anything would be about as happy as Bubba (new FOC)looks.
Friends of Chet: Merriweather Lewis, I hope your ear comes up; Cami, looking real good riding shotgun.
Gus&BooBear: I wish all the outcomes were as excellent as yours has been. Keep your chin up. Happy gratitude prayers being sent.
12:46 pm on January 18th, 2013
We here are very very disappointed in Lance. Sob. Well he has to face the music. sniff.
We had to go to bed early last night so we didn’t see Rio’s question until this morning.
Macy we are sure glad your Mom is leaving the ‘puter on for you. We need to keep up with you and with Wolfie and with Kirby T.
Yawn.
Maybe I need a nap today.
12:49 pm on January 18th, 2013
I just checked the 5 day forecast for Willow. It is again going above freezing in a few .
12:50 pm on January 18th, 2013
Dawson, That is Bubba’s Happy Face. heh heh 🙂
12:50 pm on January 18th, 2013
the end of that sentence should be…few days. gah
12:53 pm on January 18th, 2013
Staff!…What question did I ask you last night? I can’t remember…grunt!
1:25 pm on January 18th, 2013
Buddy & Siber-H: We here have been concerned for quite some time. It did snow in Anchorage yesterday. Paws crossed for cooler temps on the Iditarod Trail by Race time.

Gang: The rents are looking into various vacation options. Now you need to understand that they NEVER go away on vacation. Partly because they can never afford to, and partly because Mom gets too stressed about finding someone she trusts to take care of all of us (dogs, horses, cats), partly because they couldn’t take us in the way-too-old-to-travel far Jeep, and mostly because they wouldn’t leave Sasha when she was so confused.
So now, suddenly things have changed, and they are considering taking us…us…us in the Sibaroo. One place under consideration is a beach house with a pool(!!!) in Hatteras, NC. Another place under consideration is the dreamed-of Barkwell, in the mountains of NC. And then again, Mom said Maine or even PEI is a possibility. Wouldn’t it be supercalifragilisticexpealidocious if we could all do vacation at the same place (like Barkwell) ? !!!
1:41 pm on January 18th, 2013
Barkwell!…What’s this Barkwell you speak of?..sniff!
1:52 pm on January 18th, 2013
Barb – we’re here. Just call us Lurks-A-Lot.
Does this sound familiar?
We`d thought you would want to know about this e-mail virus. Even the most advanced programs from Norton or McAfee cannot take care of this one. It appears to affect those who were born prior to 1965…
Symptoms:
1.. Causes you to send the same e-mail twice. Done that!
2. Causes you to send a blank e-mail!That, too!
3. Causes you to send e-mail to the wrong person. Yep!
4. Causes you to send it back to the person who sent it to you. Aha!
5. Causes you to forget to attach the attachment. Well darn!
6. Causes you to hit “SEND” before you’ve finished. Oh , no not again!
7. Causes you to hit “DELETE” instead of “SEND.” And I just hate that!
8. Causes you to hit “SEND” when you should “DELETE.” Oh, No!
IT IS CALLED THE “C-NILE VIRUS.”
Have we already sent this to you? Or did you send it to us?
1:54 pm on January 18th, 2013
Bluecat! Someone has sent that one to us for sure!!
Rio et al: http://barkwells.com/
3:00 pm on January 18th, 2013
O.Howlers: The Beach or the Mountains? Now that we’ve “seen” Barkwells can you send a link to the cool place on the Beach?
B: Thank you for the link. It’s hard to follow ZenKat sometimes.
BlueCat: Heh. It is a huge relief to know we are not alone.
4:19 pm on January 18th, 2013
Bear, this is just one of the many selections:

Now Mom is looking at the farmhouse she has always dreamed about in Prince Edward Island.
She says that we Sibes limit the fun because we are untrustworthy. Us? Untrustworthy?
4:28 pm on January 18th, 2013
Vacation!….When are you Howlers going on vacation anyways?…sniff!
4:41 pm on January 18th, 2013
Us? Untrustworthy?
4:46 pm on January 18th, 2013
I saw a beautiful Siber in town today. He had unusual coloring. At least I think it’s unusual: Cream and gold. He had blue eyes.
4:47 pm on January 18th, 2013
Farmhouse in PEI? I wish.
5:36 pm on January 18th, 2013
BlueCat – Our Daddy thought your C-Nile Virus was a riot. He got a Nook for his birthday last year, but has really only been using it a lot for the last few months. And he has had just a few of those email problems…..
We never heard of Barkwell either. But it would be fun if everyone could take a vacation to the same place. We have no great desire to go to Vegas, but we noticed at one point that it is pretty cheap to get to Vegas from almost anywhere in the country. Even out here on the east coast, we can find round trip flights for about $100 with specials. And hotels in Vegas sometimes offer incredible room rates – must be because they think that they would rather get your money at the gaming tables.
Just kind of putting it out there as something for folks to ponder in their spare time.

Next weekend is the Trapper’s Special Dog Sled Races – about 10 miles from me.

Hey youse guys!
My VBFF Belle Starr is up top!
Have youse guys seen Chet’s message over there on the right!
G&B, You don’t know how very happy I am to hear that your dad is doing so well!
B&M, So glad you enjoyed The Artist! It is one of the favorites here at the WItte house. Wasn’t the end just great?
Masquers, Blip the Golden……wasn’t that the Wookiemobile parked in the lot we saw?????
5:49 pm on January 18th, 2013
T&G: I’d be game to meet everyone in Vegas–or anywhere else that someone could suggest. We really should think of a Plunderers’ Meet & Greet for a date that everyone could start planning and saving towards without unduly impacting the treatie or snowhookie budgets. October 2013 would be after the tourist onslaught or May 2014 would be before the tourist season.
5:49 pm on January 18th, 2013
T&G, I have a Nook too! There are some books I have on mine can be loaned out to other Nookers for two weeks. Maybe I should look through my library and see if any of the loaner books are books your dad might want to read? First I have to figure out how to do it!
5:51 pm on January 18th, 2013
C.Hobbit, what a cool idea!!!!
5:51 pm on January 18th, 2013
Rose: Why yes…yes it was…I’m sure of it!
6:07 pm on January 18th, 2013
I hate shopping.
Got to the vet, heard horror stories of people in Rehab places, got to one store, the one medication I needed wasn’t sent from the doctor, got to the other store, they didn’t have the medication I needed, went to the last store and kept remembering things that I hadn’t put on the list and my back and hips started to really hurt, (I hate the floors) and then I had to wait in line FOREVER, and finally got home an hour late.
Luckily, Jesse is a good guy. (Did I mention I hate shopping?)
B.Stover, how was that for a run on sentence?
6:10 pm on January 18th, 2013
Melanie: The error would be comma splices. However, it’s a list and therefore is grammatically correct…and it’s parallel in structure.
6:13 pm on January 18th, 2013
Wose, I was just thinking about you because you posted last night about lightening bolts today.
Chet is posting about teeth on facebookie. That will bring back a memory or two for us old-times here on the blog.

My doc wants me to eat. I have been cooking meals. It’s just after I’m done cooking, I have no wish to eat them.
So I have finished my appetizer (grapes) and now I’m going to fix a healthy sandwich. That is better than I’ve done in some time.
6:42 pm on January 18th, 2013
O.K. 2-leggeds can go to Vegas, but we doggies are going to MPM’s (maybe permanently). Aunt MPM, can you get us entered on one of those sled teams?
6:48 pm on January 18th, 2013
Carpola. We are trying to post a link for Dawson. The blog keeps saying thanks for posting, but our post does not make it there.
6:50 pm on January 18th, 2013
We were in Vegas for a wedding (not ours) a few years ago and we asked the Concierge of the hotel asking about their pet policy. We were told that dogs weighing less than 35 lbs were welcome. At just that moment a big Golden (at least 85 lbs) walked by. I raised my eyebrows at the gentleman and he smiled and immediately responded “Well we don’t take out a scale.” It was a little like Maury telling Wookie to just put 3 paws on the scale at the V-E-T and his weight would be just perfect!
6:52 pm on January 18th, 2013
Rio, we usually do vacation in August, but it will depend on where we go and when there is an available place, if (and this is a BIG IF) we really do go away.
Siber, we can’t figure out why they don’t think we are untrustworthy. Can you? Does your mom think that?
7:00 pm on January 18th, 2013
Fellow Sibers, untrustworthy is a polite word for what mom thinks we are.
Mom said the Siber parents could take the dogs and vacation on Alcatraz because she doesn’t figure the Sibers would try to swim ashore. My mom isn’t funny sometimes.
7:03 pm on January 18th, 2013
Siber, Mom found a place in Rhode Island that is rented by owner, and it is an a private island!!!!! She knows there is no way we could wander off from there.
7:03 pm on January 18th, 2013
Okay. I have eaten. We will not speak of lunch or breakfast. There was a reason I went to the grocery store.
I have a nephew and niece-in-law in Vegas.
I don’t think I would fly with the Newfs. They tend to drool over all the other passengers.
7:05 pm on January 18th, 2013
An island sounds good. Repel All Boarders! Avast ye doggies!
7:35 pm on January 18th, 2013
Vegas!…I wanna go to Vegas, but I bet someone won’t let me…sniff!…She thinks I would lose my shorts at the black jack table…wheeze!
7:52 pm on January 18th, 2013
Would you please say a prayer for my friend Judy tonight? Her husband passed yesterday. It wasn’t unexpected but still not easy. Thank you. I believe in the power of the Plunderer prayer circle.
7:58 pm on January 18th, 2013
Bluecat, We will pray for Judy tonight.
8:00 pm on January 18th, 2013
Siber-H, thank you for thinking of me.
Rio! You wear shorts?
Melanie, have you tried frozen grapes!
8:00 pm on January 18th, 2013
Fellow Sibers, My mom says to tell your mom that great Siber moms must think alike. Oh pleeeze
8:01 pm on January 18th, 2013
Bluecat, you got it.
8:06 pm on January 18th, 2013
BlueCat – prayer request heard and acted upon. No matter what, it is always hard for the ones left behind.
Howlers – an island where you could all run free for vacation??? How marvelous that would be!
October sounds good to us. After the summer shows, and before the winter shows. And maybe even a few cents to throw into one of those funny machines. But Rio, if you lose your shorts, we are going to cover our eyes!
8:07 pm on January 18th, 2013
Bluecat, consider it done.
8:11 pm on January 18th, 2013
October!…Hmmm. That is after the busy-place busy-season so that would work for me! I mean it would work for someone, I guess…grunt!
8:12 pm on January 18th, 2013
Blu-Kat!….Sorry to hear your sad news…sniff!…I will say a strong pug-prayer for your friend…wuffle!
8:13 pm on January 18th, 2013
BlueCat: Prayers will be said for your friend Judy tonight. Never an easy time.
Picturing Rio in shorts at the black jack table. It was the curly tail that gave him away.
8:22 pm on January 18th, 2013
Praying for Judy. Hard to lose anyone even when it’s expected.
Seriously thinking about October. Now to bed
Hi LizF! TTFN everyone else.
8:50 pm on January 18th, 2013
So sorry for your friend’s loss, Bluecat. Prayers are said asking for some comfort for her at this time.
8:56 pm on January 18th, 2013
Travel!….So who is going to make all the travel arrangements?…sniff!…Where will we bunk up at?…grunt!
8:56 pm on January 18th, 2013
Oppps!… Macy’s grandma will be mad at me again…grunt!
9:20 pm on January 18th, 2013
Hmmmm – October, huh?
Lets see how many folks are interested for sure, and we could start looking for ways to make it happen……
9:25 pm on January 18th, 2013
Tupper!….What exactly are you going to make happen?…sniff!…I’m a tad confused. Is this going to be an official first-time meeting of the Plunderers, or is it a place to go for vacation at the same time some other folk are going?…snort!
10:12 pm on January 18th, 2013
Fringe!..We are watching the last 2 hour episode of Fringe…snort!…None of us know what is going on but it is still interesting to watch…heh!…This show has the most interesting looking actors on it…sniff!
10:36 pm on January 18th, 2013
Rio, – we think that if a bunch of Plunderers are really interested in doing a trip to Vegas warrant some looking into as to what hotels would be reasonable and safe and clean, etc. The only reason we would even think about going to Vegas would be to meet everyone. Ok, so maybe we would see a show and maybe even gambol about a bit. But we wouldn’t go by ourselves just for that.
10:40 pm on January 18th, 2013
Tupper!….Right…snort!
11:50 pm on January 18th, 2013
Rio: let’s get through the Iditarod and then we can plan a Meet & Greet. It’s like planning a high school reunion: tons of decisions and things to do to make it happen in the best possible way. Of course, Spence should come and if it can be tied into a new book event, all the better!
Bluecat: prayers to your friend.
2:07 am on January 19th, 2013
Fringe over. *sigh* nice ending.
